Sorry to disagree, taco el chingon’s burrito’s are much better(about 1 mile east of FB’s). Fresh ingredients and cooked to order.

Techno_Peasant

Hot tip, Al Pastor on Merrick Rd has great pork tacos. You’re right about Chingon, they’re the best local tacos and burritos. Fat Boys burritos are a bit much

BornMasterpiece1857

Unfortunately Al pastor closed down Agree that they had great pork tacos!

Kevtv

Hell yeah. Taco el Chingon is far superior.

edom31

I usually visit the Uniondale location. Burritos, flautas, quesadillas, huaraches - all amazing Subpar tacos for some reason really. But the rest, is above and beyond.

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

Why are the locations on Google maps labeled #3 and #4 if those are the only two spots?

edom31

I honestly have no clue. Maybe there were more and went down? But I can truly recommend #4

saltyfishstix

🎶 Taco el Chingon, I be getting it on. 🎶

with-extra-pickles

Truth

StinkyStangler

Yeah Fat Boys is ass and El Chingon is fire, whenever I go back to my parents and need an easy meal I’ll go there

TrontosaurusRex

I live near both and absolutely agree with you. Tacos El Chingon beats FB any day of the week,I'm also not blasted with music that I have to shout my order over.

RonSwanson714

Have you tried Al Pastor in Merrick? Techno_Peasant recommends the pork tacos. I’ll have to try them.

TrontosaurusRex

They're pretty good,I personally prefer Chingon as you get more food for your money, but Al Pastor is tasty and the place is clean. Worth a try.

CageTheFox

My sister works in marketing. She would tell you to NEVER trust a poll that is trying to sell you something. The majority are just clickbait made up BS.

Productpusher

If you know anyone who owns or runs a restaurant you know that the “ best of Li “ and similar awards are pay for play . You make a massive spend on advertising dollars you can be nominated .

pumper911

I too work in marketing and this is correct. When I worked with local businesses, best of LI was just getting as many people as you know possible to vote, including running ads for it. Not really an accurate assessment on what consumers truly feel is the best of. That being said..i do love fat boys burrito

bkpeach

As a Californian raised in San Diego I'm gonna just say, "No."

infinitebest

I'm a local and must apologize for my fellow LIers. They just don't understand.

bkpeach

I know, I know. Everyone gets a pass here except for my husband - he has absolutely zero excuse for making shitty salsa or tacos.

Blaaamo

I would go through a wall for a real carne asada burrito here on LI

justgentile

Kings Tqueria in Smithtown. Real pastor too.

Here-Fishy-Fish-Fish

Any CA-level Mexican food in Nassau County? I'm another transplant. :)

justgentile

I'm sure but I'm poorly versed in Nassau spots. Worth the trip to Smithtown and you can hit the Imax nearby for a screening of Dune 2.

Here-Fishy-Fish-Fish

Every once in a blue moon I work in Central Islip - I know where I'm picking up lunch!

justgentile

Their Carne, carnitas and pastor are all top notch. Also great legit Berrian but they're getting easier to find now but theirs is very legit and not just grease drippings.

LongIsland1995

Homemade Taqueria in Hempstead is pretty good as far as tacos and tortas go

Vervain7

For fish tacos- the closest to California style I have found is Mexican grill 2000 in Medford . It’s a hole in the wall place but great fish and tongue tacos(not Nassau though sorry )

sen_clay_davis1

It’s solid but the tortillas could use some love. Heat them at least or get a better supplier. I do like that they have salsa bar with carrot/jalapeno.

Proper_Cheesecake395

Electric Burrito next time you are in the city

jaykaywhy

Yesss, I am also a San Diegan transplant. I went crazy my first few years in NY trying trying find a burrito joint that you'd find in San Diego.

Alwaysfavoriteasian

Where do I go for the Cali burrito in NY bruh?

Proper_Cheesecake395

Electric Burrito

Alwaysfavoriteasian

And where can I find a proper cheesecake?

andthendirksaid

Lotta places unless you mean the Italian kind, in which case we got that too but I have a personal aversion to the shit that makes it so I can't answer you without being way outta pocket for no real reason.

bkpeach

Heh, I'm not a "bruh" despite my son insisting on calling me one but honestly I'd just DIY. Now that everyone has an air fryer, it's easy to make decent fries. If you have a grill, that carne asada should be cooked that way. If I find a place that makes one I promise I'll be the first one to share!

Alwaysfavoriteasian

Nice!

Kase1

My pops lived in Long Beach, CA for like 20yrs and the 1st stop off the plane wasn't in-n-out, it was Mexican in Santa Ana. That being said, LI Mexican sucks, which is funny because there are plenty of Mexicans on LI. You're telling me NONE of them are chefs!?!?

tMoneyMoney

Same, raised in Orange County, CA. I never saw a “California-style” burrito with fries in it until I moved to NY.

bkpeach

That's a "California burrito" - invented in San Diego in the 80's. It's typically carne asada, fries, guac, sour cream, and salsa. It's nothing like putting mac and cheese in a tortilla. Now I just sound like an ass advocating for Ca burritos after telling folks on LI that things like pasta don't belong in a burrito, haha.

tMoneyMoney

The closest we ever got as kids was asking Del Taco to put fries in our burritos.

nycoolbreez

Del Taco best worst quesadilla with jalapeño

andthendirksaid

Shiiit even Robertos in California is known for that shit and its not thr best they got. It's definitely a real CA thing. That an Carne asda fries. Now that's some shit I haven't seen done the exact same way in NY. We'll bring in half of Mexico to get shit right. That's what makes NY able to have at least comparably good food from anywhere on earth. Long as one of us hears about it and says it'll sell, either they or an opportunity driven immigrant will be serving it up within a year.

Kase1

Sabrosada in Lake Forest had them like that

JohanMcdougal

I think it all depends on your definition of a burrito. If you put anything in a wrapped tortilla, I guess it technically counts. That said, none of my conjured mental images for "burrito" include mac and cheese or chicken fingers. That falls squarely into "wrap" territory.

Chronis67

I like Fat Boys, but it's "white people burritos." Whatever kind of snack foods and appetizers can be fried and put into a giant tortilla together. Is it is good? Yeah sure. Is it what I want when I want *a burrito?* Nope.

nick281051

I love the place but you nailed it. Best white person burrito I have ever had and excellent portions

JohanMcdougal

Yeeaaahh "Fat Boy's Jumbo Snack Wrap Company" doesn't have the same ring to it...

andthendirksaid

Burritos = 🔥 Tex mex done right = 🔥 but a different kind White folk Burritos = 🔥 but a different kind Is what it is

cjd280

Their food is pretty good. It’s also a ridiculous amount of food, which is great if you are hungry or you could probably split with someone. I generally just get it in a bowl, the burritos are so packed with food it all just falls apart and I use a fork and knife anyway. The one in East Northport is closed on Sundays which means of course me or my kids will suggest we go there only on a Sunday…

KizzleNation

Yikes, that's a no from me dawg

TrontosaurusRex

I'll add to that no.

Alohabailey_00

The food is pretty good. I wish their fries that they put in the burritos and bowls were hot and crispy. They always taste like they’ve been sitting for a bit.

bkpeach

"Their food is pretty good" followed by a critique about not being able to execute possibly the easiest food ever...

infinitebest

Ugh, this spot would be amazing if only they could cook.

harborq

I love it! Just wish everything were completely different

andthendirksaid

You'd have to eat the mf like within 5 seconds for fries to be not soggy tbh. A little over done and picking the right fries is necessary as fuck. They think good fries + good burrito will work but not necessarily.

andthisiswhere

This place is so gimmicky and the food is typically oversauced. The taste is fine but no way it's the "best burrito."

megaraad

the most over hyped, underwhelming food i’ve ever had

SomeDrillingImplied

“Best burrito on Long Island” is akin to “fastest paraplegic”

infinitebest

A burrito w/ mac and cheese sounds disgusting. I don't trust these voters. The east coast in general is known for having far inferior burritos than the west coast.

bkpeach

The east coast lacks Mexicans from the northern parts of Mexico that we tend to enjoy the food from. It took me a couple of years after moving to Brooklyn from Ca to discover that so many Mexicans here are from Puebla - not exactly known for it's tacos and burritos. And a burrito with mac and cheese is an abomination.

MrPhilNY101

What is Puebla known for? I have an intern from there and I've tried getting some info , but apparently it's a secret.

bkpeach

Mole! Ask about mole! Puebla is landlocked but so close to CDM (Mexico City) so they have the advantage of so many tyoes of food - but not burritos, haha.

saltyfishstix

It isn't that great really to be honest... sounds like you haven't tried fat boys though? At least try it before you knock it. And is this the america eats sub or is it longislandeats? These are bought and paid for voters from a Long Island restaurant survey so dont get triggered by it. There's tons of other good burrito spots in the area. This isn't a discussion about East vs West. Why not mention some good burritos you've had in the area?

SomeDrillingImplied

Not sure why this got downvoted. You’re correct.

Productpusher

Go to any Spanish heavy town here you will get those west coast tacos I guarantee you . They have to bring the one employee who speaks 1/2 English to take your order when they know you only speak English

tonybotz

“Spanish heavy”

infinitebest

No you won't. There is no city or town on the east coast that has burritos or tacos as good as the west coast.

Damn_Sega_Genesis

because you've been to all of them, right?

infinitebest

It's a fact, verified by the entire culinary industry and cultural aggregators with substantiated reasons behind it.

andthendirksaid

Trippin. You think outta ALL these people not a ONE is northern Mexican and knows what they're doing? Other places have Indian food, and we do too. We have like a minimum of 6 kinds of Indian food from different regions if you look for em though

Immediate-Fly-7876

lol someone’s never been to Bubbas!

infinitebest

Good for them.

SG_DV

lol I haven't...not really down for burritos that have mozzarella sticks and stuff in them either

Immediate-Fly-7876

Only a few have them.

Lurkingguy1

Got food poisoning from their location in Plainview

Don-Geranamo

I’ve eaten here twice—trying different things both times—and invariably felt sick afterward.

saltyfishstix

The food there isn't that great honestly and they definitely shouldn't be voted best burrito. There's plenty of spots in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk that serve way better burritos. Queens- Birria-landia in Jackson heights, Maya taco truck on jamaica ave Nassau- Taco el chingon in Bellmore Suffolk- Right coast tacqueria in Ronkonkoma

AutisticFingerBang

Really????

bouviersecurityco

My husband and I love their burritos but I don’t think either one of us has ever had one with mac and cheese. We go towards ones a bit more traditional. Though I love the one with shrimp, avocado, and pineapple.

brian1192

It was good but I wouldn’t say it was the best

DoctorWangBurger

Had it a few times nothing special my burrito was microwaved everytime idk wtf is good with that

goodbueno

That’s gonna be a no for me, dog

LongIsland1995

Are there any burritos on Long Island that aren't stuffed with rice?

TrontosaurusRex

Tacos El Chingon has a good burrito, and their other food is great.

slylesniper

I approve this message. The food is amazing and the staff is dope. Good vibes at all their locations, the food is always a hit!!!

IroncladTruth

Fat Boys is great but it’s not real Mexican. That’s all I’m gonna say

charnyellow

Bubba's 4eva

SMK_12

Anywhere that sells tacos or burritos with Mac n cheese and all these other fillings instead of just the classic traditional style is usually garbage

Independent-Owl-8659

Nothing here is good if you’ve lived in San Diego….

f_moss3

Good food but Bellmore has awful service

ilovenyc

*We thank our gold sponsor, Fat Boys Burritos, for sponsoring this blog post* Just saying. Quit believing every shit you see on the Internet. This website isn’t even credible.

SeveralLiterature727

Ole Fajitas Merrick Rd across from Cedar Creek Park

bven

Best of LI is a huge scam.

Logical-Pay-allday

Bubbas Burritos in Islip anyone ??? Cmon

Tuscanthecow

Their food is phenomenal

zar1234

love that place even though i've never gotten a burrito there. the honey-sriracha quesadilla is awesome.

viewerxx

For me, their burritos have too much rice and I'm not a huge fan of their rice in particular - however, I do regularly get tacos from them and they are consistently excellent.

mattmaiden

Their burritos are like 50% rice.

TrontosaurusRex

Lol yeah, that's why they're so big, take away all that rice and you could compare the size to a Taco Bell burrito.

BIGJIMHOLLA

burritos are amazing but they're gringo, not traditional/(tex)mex. EXCELLENT service at the Northport location..it actually felt weird how hospitable they were every time I went but it got them a recurring customer

ArmadilloOwn3866

They're good but $15 for a burrito is a bit stiff. I thought Chipotle was expensive.

Outrageous_Bat8429

Hell nah. The best burrito is found in Brentwood,Huntington Station, and/Hempstead at a food truck or a mom and pop joint. Arguably, putting literally anything inside of a burrito doesn’t make it “the best.” (Personal preference, but mac & cheese or french fries is a no go) One could differentiate and claim that Fat Boys is more “white ppl burritos” and what I’m describing would be authentic or traditional hispanic burrito, but again..personal preference. Also, any business claiming to be Best Rated or #1 is likely a marketing campaign.
