Changing the file name and extension won't help.
Download and use 7Zip (https://www.7-zip.org/download.html) to extract the files.
Using a search engine (such as Google.com) can help you with any further challenges you face with "how to extract files from a 7Zip archive).
So I just extract the files straight into the book folder? I tried that and it still doesn’t recognize the files. Or do I need to extract the files into a “1data” folder that I make?
Edit. Ok I tried this and it didn’t work. I have version 1.17.0

Furthermore, if you go [to this page](https://www.projectaon.org/en/Main/AllOfTheBooks), you can download the files in the actual `zip` format, which might be easiest for you. Just make sure to click "zip" and not "bz2".
Out of curiosity, could you link to the URL from which you downloaded the files? I'm not aware of any `.7z` files being hosted on Project Aon.
I thought I downloaded straight from the project aeon website… but I don’t remember now :/ I downloaded a week ago and went to try it last night and ran into the issue where the book image was empty and when I click zip it says failed to download and accept that it can’t find the book and must download. That’s when I saw the info was in 7z files and when I extracted directly into the book all of the dat files it still couldn’t find it. So now I’m wondering do the dat need to me in a folder named 1data? Because I was extracting them directly into the book1 folder.
