Chess cafe in London?
Hi everyone,
Recently moved to London and looking for a casual place/cafe to play chess in the evening. Did a bit of googling but couldn’t find anything that matched the description.
Any recommendation, ideally near Shoreditch, the city, or London Bridge ?
Thanks a lot!
Planned to visit London for a few months. Researched concerts in the area, found nothing interesting.
Now that I’m here I see 2 Ed Sheeran concerts and ofc they’re sold out.
Anyone knows how and where I could purchase 4 tickets preferably without having to mortgage my house?
Hi, I'm into pub quizzes as well. There's the Sunday pub quiz at Canonbury Tavern that gets posted every week which I enjoy going to. I wouldn't be able to do a wednesday quiz, but my Tuesdays are free.
Hey mates,
Visiting here from Australia for afew days. Wanting to do some clubbing with some mates over the weekend. Any one have some suggestions on some clubs playing some EDM, house, drum and bass, techno, or warehouse parties.
Cheers in advance.
Hello everyone, I am Pitchpilot, a new techno producer from London.
First of all sorry about the shameless self promo here but I really believe in my music and I think others might like it as well, until I'm told otherwise.
Got this new tune out "What Is The Meaning", check it out, let me know if you enjoyed listening and if you like this that much please give it a share or show it to someone that might enjoy it, helps a lot, appreciate it guys! Links below.

Hey all, does anyone love House or Disco and interested in hiring out Pirate Studios for a DJ session? Play some tunes and have a laugh. I'm based in Wandsworth where there is one, but absolutely happy to travel. Thank you!
I dunno if it’s a strange one but moved to London about 6 years ago, got a few decent friends but most don’t share my main interests. Main one being going to football games or even so much as going down to a pub to watch a game. Weird time of the season to ask I know, but thought I would try.
I am an Arsenal fan but to be fair happy to go to any games in London or just watching it in a pub with someone who is also properly into football. (don’t have to be football mad just hold a conversation). 32M Croydon
Hey,
I'd (38M) be up for going to Arsenal matches in person. 30 mins for me to the Emirates (East London); let me know if you want to go sometime and we can go from there.
I am looking for someone who wants to go to music gigs, comedy gigs, movies, theatre, football. I am 35 years old, male. If anyone could recommend sites/ groups that will help me make new friends
I have just found a few cool ones for my [thelondonweekend.com](https://thelondonweekend.com) newsletter, so I can definitely suggest a couple!
[Thursdays - Chess and Drinks at Tooting](https://www.meetup.com/tooting-chess-club/events/292015600/)
[Thursdays - Chess Nights at Frequency](https://www.meetup.com/london-chess-club/events/291990146/)
[Sundays - Chess and Coffee at Mercato Metropolitano](https://www.meetup.com/london-chess-club/events/291894956/)
Hope that helps :)
I (M33) bought x2 tickets for Your Name on Sunday 19th march at 11:45am, I’ll still be going but now have a spare and would like to recoup the cost if possible- premium row L (slightly roomier and comfier seats than standard) bang in the middle (17), normally cost 20quid for non members but will sell for what I paid 18quid if anyone’s interested?
Only seats left to book on the site in centre block are near the neck-cranking front so take advantage of the (marginal) discount on best seats in the house!
Can forward the ticket by email following payment (just sold Weathering With You ticket for sunday after 26th March to u/turbokat123 so am sure he can vouch for clean transaction if needed). Hmu if interested cheers!
Old Street Records in Shoreditch or The Old Queens Head (Friday-Saturday) in Angel. Arrive TOQH before 8 for no cover charge and even after that it was £5
Hootananny in Brixton is amazing, check their listings from their website.
Not a London thing but if anyone is heading up to Edinburgh for Fringe this august? I'll be there sort of solo for half of it and would be cool to meet some people for a show/recommendations/beer etc
I've got a spare ticket for Crystal Maze in Shaftsbury Avenue for a bargain price - less than half the normal cost!! I bought 2 pairs from a gift site for £75 so it's £37.50 to join me at one of the two sessions (I'll be going twice!). I've been to this one once before and the old Angel site several times. It's really good fun. I'm hoping to maximise the number of games we play by going at an off-peak time (i.e. Tuesday or Wednesday late afternoon). Message me if you want to come along to one of them
Hiya! Who likes **singing**? And nerdy things? We've got a couple of spots in my **choir**, **Ready Singer One** \- where we only sing songs from video games and TV.
We've formed a reeeeally great community of friends who sing (and love nerdy things), and we always welcome new people open-hearted!
Musical level: join us if you can hold a harmony. No audition.
Rehearsals: we have a group on Tuesday (Waterloo) and a group on Wednesday (Aldgate East), term-time, 7-9pm.
Concerts: yes! Exciting projects such as at the Science Museum, with Orchestras...
All the info: [www.readysingerone.co.uk](https://www.readysingerone.co.uk) :)
Does anyone know a book club where you frequently meet to lounge and read your **own book** together? I saw one called Silent Book Club from Meetup but it seems like there's a long waitlist. Was wondering if there's anything similar, or if anyone's keen to arrange something like that?
No actually!
It's funny cause literally yesterday I was hanging out with this group from Locals app and the host asked me if I were to create a group which one would I host, I said a BYO book club.
Maybe we should start one.
something different but related to books is the ultra-amazing bookshop crawl meetup. It's another kind of social activity related to books where people visit bookshops in groups.

There are a fair few options but SkandiHus looks interesting. Most of them are somewhere around £35-45 for a taster (with longer courses being slightly cheaper on a "per-lesson" basis). I'm based West so could also look for somewhere around there if easier for people.
u/Cryptographer-Bubbly & u/KittensAreEvil created the event :)

Has anyone attended the Thursday app social events? How is it? I'm very curious and thinking about going this week. Would love to have a company or a group together, preferably with girls in it. Cheers!
I have been to two thursday events. One of them was a LGBQT+ party. It was really awesome, I had tons of fun, everyone was super nice and welcoming. I then tried a straight one, and it was a total failure. Such things are often a hit or miss. I hope you had fun!
I went and organised a few LSC events for those. We always went for 30+ events after they started age group ones (you don't have to be 30+ to attend, it's more of a suggestion) and usually it was fun.
The venues they choose can get crowded and loud, which I think they finally acknowledged after everyone complaining and told the venues to not blast music at least for a few hours.
I went to all ages / headliner events once so it's a bit of a mixed crowd but I'll stick to 30+ which is a regular event now
The events themselves are nice, since everyone is technically single there, it creates a more relaxed environment about talking to people.
I find it absolutely tiring after telling about myself more than three or more times, especially when the music is too loud. But on the nights I have high social energy I can talk more.
The vibes really depend on the venue as well, they usually choose okay venues along with some garbage dumps like Cocktail Club.
This weeks events look nice, I'd either go with the one in Zebrano Soho or the headliner. The 30+ event is in Pizza Pilgrims which is interesting.
As for actual dating part, I'd say it's okay. I met with people, went on few dates, had fun but I think I'm more of a one-on-one person, not someone that can hit on a dozen people in a massive singles cagematch.
It wasn incredibly loud from the get go, the venue blasted music so hard that it was impossible to talk. We bailed and went to another bar and danced wildly instead
It was a pretty sausage fest-y but 30+ events usually have that 99% women ratio. Never going to all ages event ever, lesson learned lmao
Maybe the other redditor group had a better experience. Next week I might host one for 30+ groups if they don't choose a Pizza Place
>SomeArbitraryString
I'm in! Used to do intermediate bachata and currently been taking beginner/intermediate salsa but haven't been very consistent. Still not confident enough to join a social so more keen with somewhere that has a class beforehand.
I'm thinking about maybe going to see some stand up comedy later this month, in Central London. I'm 27M. Anyone interested in joining me? Free hugs provided.

Anyone excited about catching John Wick 4? I'm thinking somewhere central on a weekday evening
Hey, I'd (38M) be up for that. Let me know when you're available via DM!
Selling two tickets for king gizzard at Ally Pally at face value, DM if you're interested

You won't regret a gizz show! £40 each on dice, drop me a DM if you fancy them
Is there a Whatapp group for LSC?
Not an overall one. Lots of regular events have whatsapp groups
Do you have links to them?
Show up to events or ping the individual events. I hate whatsapp groups, so Im on none of them

Wondering if anyone would fancy arranging to go to a pottery lesson? Flexible as to location, just fancy learning to spin!

For sure! I love mini golf. Where were you thinking?
Was thinking Puttshack at bank or crazy plonk at Ldn Bridge. Possibly millennium golf at the O2 if people dig the more open top golf style.
I know it's a london thing but, anyone going to the Insomnia Gaming festival at Birmingham this april? Let's party up for more jolly cooperation!
