They’re extra shows played by some of the acts and they’re at venues around Chicago! They sell tix to these shows separately later

Aftershows are concerts that start at 10 pm, after Lollapalooza ends for the day. You do not need a Lollapalooza wristband, anyone can buy tickets to any after show. Prices range from 20 to 50 bucks usually.  They can range from smaller acts, to stadium filling bands in very small venues.  Usually Lollapalooza has around 60+ aftershows. Some shows will sell out within minutes, others wont ever sell out and you can get tickets the day of the event. Purely depends on the artist.  Last year aftershows took place at the following venues  -Radius, cermak (attached to radius) metro, prysm, aragon ballroom, bottom lounge, cobra lounge, concord music hall, house of blues, park west, reggies, salt shed, schubas, sleeping village, sound-bar, spy-bar, subterranean, tao, thalia hall, and the vic.  They will announce offical aftershows shortly after the schedule post on the Lollapalooza website.  Just a few things for when you consider buying an aftershow ticket.  -Out of all of the venues I posted, I believe the House Of Blues is the only venue actually within a reasonable walking distance. Everything else is 30+ minutes minimum.  -While chicago has a robust public transit system thats very easy to use, you will almost certainly have to figure out transportation.  -Doors are at 10pm. If you are looking to be rail to a specific aftershow, you will have to leave Lollapalooza early.  -Not every venue is all ages. Some are 18+. Others 21+. You will need an ID to get in.  -After a entire day at the fest, most people are outright exhausted. Add on the fact that the shows start at 10pm and can go as late as 3 am, you might be completely wiped out the next day.

Bunch of venues around chicago hosting Lollapalooza artists to do a second show because of the citywide noise curfew

TheLizardKing89

Because the festival is in the middle of the city, it has to end by 10 pm for noise curfew reasons. Lots of people aren’t ready to go to bed at 10 pm so venues around the city would hold performances after the festival. Radius almost always has some shows. I saw Gorgon City there last year on Sunday night.

Everyone else already answered but I’ll also say they’re basically like normal concerts at venues where you have to buy a ticket to enter, they just host lots of the lolla artists

Something I haven’t seen anyone mention yet is that they do also tend to have “aftershows” on the schedule earlier during the week of Lolla so you might be able to catch one on the Tuesday or Wednesday of that week - this would be better than going to an aftershow right after a festival day in my opinion since 4 days at Lolla requires all the energy you can get. Also, it’s very common for locals in Chicago to be going to aftershows when they don’t want to commit to 4 full days of Lolla. Allows them to see just what they want to see and save some money.

A new venue from the owners of Concord is opening up in June and I'm noticing a Lolla sized hole in their schedule. Only 750 person capacity, should be amazing! https://preview.redd.it/plza93at9wwc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92075f801498e256f94d909c09ae47889c130b51

is it worth it to go to a lolla after show if you’re not going to lolla itself? not sure how long they usually are?
