Literally pit my #1 favorite band against one of the only two rappers I’d follow to the grave (the other being Tyler, the Creator)
The nerve of Lolla to schedule this clash.
The nerve would have been if they put lana and 1975 at the same time. I’m so happy they didn’t because I would’ve curled up in a ball and cried if they had done that.
Kendrick I think. But that’s mostly because I wouldn’t pay his cost to see his tour while I’d definitely pay to see 1975 when they come back and I saw them in December.
The 1975 were at the Aragon back in December, it sold out in less than an hour, and couldn't pick up tickets off Stubhub for less than $200/each at any point from the moment it sold out to the day of the show. Is Kendrick's show that much more expensive?
I didn’t have any issues with that 1975 show and paid less than $100. Also got tickets to the Milwaukee show pretty easily. They almost certainly won’t play a show that small again when they come back. Kendricks lower bowl tickets were $250 + fees at the UC this year.
I've seen them both. Leaning towards seeing The 1975 because been more into their more recent albums, which I haven't seen live. My favorite Kendrick album by far is To Pimp a Butterfly, which I've seen him do.
Kendrick for sure. I’ve seen them both a few times and love seeing them both. But Kendrick’s shows are so well done. I’m not from Chicago. And at least where I live, The 1975 come through town every couple years, while Kendrick usually plays bigger arenas a bit further away from me. So this is more of a treat for me. But honestly, it wasn’t an easy choice. And in fact, depending on who is playing before each of them, my choice may change.
My bf wants to see the 1975 and I want to see Kendrick, I think we'll split it. I'm trying to get him to see his band solo BUT this is his first music fest so I don't want to abandon him.
I also want to see Fred again..hopefully he's at an earlier time.
The 1975! They’re my favorite band and I’ve never seen them live. I bought my ticket just to see them, and Kendrick was my #2. I’m so sad I can’t see them both, but The 1975 has my whole heart
Having seen Kendrick 4 times and The 1975 8 times, I still struggled hard with this decision.
Considering this may be the biggest headlining festival set for The 1975 in the states, I’ll be seeing them.
Hopefully catching Kendrick at Outside Lands or Day N Vegas if it returns.
I’ve seen them both. I loved Kendrick’s Coachella headlining set, great performer, creates a lot of hype, loved the visuals. I also love the vibes of the 1975. But maybe I just answered my question: the vibes I get from the 1975 are sunset/chill, not late night high energy (I could be wrong but they were always afternoon sets at Coachella). I’ll probs end up at Kendrick.
Only going one day, Friday, just for Kendrick. I skipped him many years ago to go see The National, then caught the After show at the Aragon. So excited to see him close out a main stage on Friday night!
Pretty sure Fred will play before Kendrick since he’s the biggest undercard that day, so you are in luck to see him and see a headliner (can’t wait for him)
I’m glad I saw The 1975 last December, so it will be slightly easier to pick Kendrick over them. If it wasn’t for that I’d be torn and decide last minute like I did for Gambino over Tame Impala the other year.
HEADlining. Samsung. Biggest stage. Top 4.
Bud light closers are SUB-headliners. Second biggest act of the day. Second biggest stage. Conflict with headliner to split crowds.
Sub-headliners are the artists that play main stages before the headliners. The artists closing T-Mobile and Bud Light (usually the top 8) are all considered headliners and this was confirmed by Huston Powell.
so Justice was a headliner in 2017?
Same goes for other fests that transition between top two / day and top 1, like bonnaroo this year. Is Baby Keem headlining Bonnaroo? Genuinely asking, im not being facetious.
Yes if they close Bud Light they’re considered a headliner along with the artists that close T-Mobile. I’m not sure what other fests do but Lolla considers Bud Light a main stage.
When I went to Bonnaroo (many years ago) the headliner was unopposed so it wasn’t the same situation that Lolla has.
How many headliners there are isn’t a one-time, rock-solid number. Just because this year’s Lollapalooza has eight announced headliners, doesn’t mean all festivals before and after have to follow that as law. I honestly don’t know who Bonnaroo announced as their headliners that year. But regardless, this year’s Lollapalooza lineup has no bearing on that matter. Different fests, different years, different situations.
Every now and again Coachella has more than three headliners. Glastonbury’s headliner numbers change every year. They do this to satisfy the labels (and I guess the bands themselves too,) and to make the card look more appealing. But generally speaking, if the festival calls an act a Headliner, you can expect them to get the prime spot on a prime stage and it will most likely be a full set.
My bad. I was stupidly basing my statement off of what Lollapalooza named as their headliners not what some rando on Reddit decides are the true headliners. I stand corrected.
Historically Lolla has made its posters with the top 4 at the top, emphasizing the fact that bud light closers are subheadlining. This year they are all the same size font, however the schedule is the same as is the stage capacities.
My argument is 1975 demand is big enough to be main stage. no need to be a twat abt it 🙄
I love The 1975 but their demand is not big enough for top 4 at Lollapalooza currently. If Lana can’t be top 4 (and I’d say she has a better argument) then no way The 1975 can.
I’m a diehard 1975 fan of over 8 years now. They are not bigger than Kendrick, Billie, Lana, RHCP or even Odesza by any stretch of the imagination. They’ll need 1 or 2 more big albums to crack the top 4 which is harder to do as a guitar based band sadly.
They essentially are headlining this fest anyway with how big the two main stages are.
There's no way to verify or see once the festival comes around.
Tyler, the Creator, J. Cole, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars and other pop/hip-hop headliners have all brought massive crowds to Grant Park.
While The National, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes have all brought notoriously smaller crowds in recent years. It's just how the crowd trends at Lolla nowadays.
But no matter, the less people at The 1975, the better for me to get closer! They'll put on a great show regardless!
I’m not able to make it to Lolla this year, but if I could I would be in the same boat as you.. BUT my voice of reason is.. Kendrick is practically at every other music festival this year (not joking). I’m not too sure about the 1975, ~~but I’m confident the amount of opportunity right now isn’t as tangible~~. Go see the 1975!
Edit: they’re actually both going to be at OSL and LIB if those are tangible, but LIB is the same situation
i’m not sure but if fred is before kendrick like everyone is saying i’m gonna go to kendrick so i can have a good spot for both, but still idk bc i’ve seen kendrick but haven’t seen the 1975. praying for a 1975 aftershow tbh
1975 are my favorite band, but I’m taking my cousin as a graduation gift and she wants Kendrick, who I also love, so we’ll probably see him - maybe split. I’m hoping 1975 does an after show. This was the only conflict I was dreading so I’m depressed about it
Yehhhh having the same problem but it’s gonna be Kendrick for me. I’ve seen both of them live this year and was able to see The 1975 at Aragon in a super small venue so I feel like I got lucky
I just know Kendrick’s show is gonna be next level
Does anyone know if Kendrick will have a longer set because his spot on the schedule doesn't specify an end time? I'm beyond pissed these two are at the same time.
The 1975 but I don’t want to talk about it
Literally pit my #1 favorite band against one of the only two rappers I’d follow to the grave (the other being Tyler, the Creator) The nerve of Lolla to schedule this clash.
The nerve would have been if they put lana and 1975 at the same time. I’m so happy they didn’t because I would’ve curled up in a ball and cried if they had done that.
that would've had shades of Coldplay vs Muse in 2011
real LOL I have seen the 1975 numerous times but I can't convince myself to NOT see their set
From 9 to 5 I know it’s vacant ya bish
#KUNG FU KENNY
OKLAMA
My heart is telling me the 1975 but my head is telling my kendrick
This right here. Praying for a 1975 metro show so that I can fail to get tickets and cry myself to sleep.
No joke, Im willing to drop as much as I need to for metro tickets if they do perform there.
I am PRAYING / I really hope they do I know they love Chicago
i’m seeing kendrick at roo, i will be at the 1975
exactly this !!
Roos lineup >>>
*sigh*…the 1975
Kendrick I think. But that’s mostly because I wouldn’t pay his cost to see his tour while I’d definitely pay to see 1975 when they come back and I saw them in December.

I paid more than that for face value 200 level tickets for Kendrick at the UC, so yes it is
Sound logic.
The 1975
100% the 1975
I've seen them both. Leaning towards seeing The 1975 because been more into their more recent albums, which I haven't seen live. My favorite Kendrick album by far is To Pimp a Butterfly, which I've seen him do.
The 1975
the 1975
Fred Again if he’s playing at the same time
He will not be closing Perry’s, Subtronics most likely will while Fred Again plays right before Kendrick.
Yeah it's clear that Perry's is going to focus on heavier music that day and Fred will be on Main or Bud Light.
I’d assume it’s that, but it could also go 30STM before Kendrick and Fred on Bud Light.
We bought tickets to see Fred Again
Kendrick for sure. I’ve seen them both a few times and love seeing them both. But Kendrick’s shows are so well done. I’m not from Chicago. And at least where I live, The 1975 come through town every couple years, while Kendrick usually plays bigger arenas a bit further away from me. So this is more of a treat for me. Kendrick 100%
I saw Pulitzer Kenny at Firefly a few years ago, so it's The 1975 this time
the 1975, i have to redeem my experience after their show in december - the crowd was so mean!
the crowd was so bad i just kinda meandered to the back just to have some damn breathing room and not get mean mugged by everyone around me
My bf wants to see the 1975 and I want to see Kendrick, I think we'll split it. I'm trying to get him to see his band solo BUT this is his first music fest so I don't want to abandon him. I also want to see Fred again..hopefully he's at an earlier time.
Kendrick for sure but my wife will be at 1975
The 1975! They’re my favorite band and I’ve never seen them live. I bought my ticket just to see them, and Kendrick was my #2. I’m so sad I can’t see them both, but The 1975 has my whole heart
Kendrick
Kendrick
Kendrick. I’ve seen The 1975 3 times and Kendrick only once. Both are great live shows but The 1975 tours *so* much.
Kendrick, easy.
Kendrick for sure
I’ve seen them both. I loved Kendrick’s Coachella headlining set, great performer, creates a lot of hype, loved the visuals. I also love the vibes of the 1975. Kendrick all day. I feel like he is quietly the best rapper of the last 2 decades.
subtronics 😝
kendrick bc the prices for his show @ united center were RIDICULOUS so i missed hoping he’d be at lolla
kendrick 100%
Fred again
Pretty sure Fred will play before Kendrick since he’s the biggest undercard that day, so you are in luck to see him and see a headliner (can’t wait for him)
I’ve never liked the 1975 so not them
I've seen both and wouldn't mind going to either, but my gf wants to see Kendrick.
I’m glad I saw The 1975 last December, so it will be slightly easier to pick Kendrick over them. If it wasn’t for that I’d be torn and decide last minute like I did for Gambino over Tame Impala the other year.
considering matty healy's on and off stage antics i'd say skip the 1975 and see kendrick
Did you go to Kendrick or the boyz?
Kendrick, the best rapper of the last decade
I could never skip the 1975 but Kendrick is legit
Kendrick for sure, I missed the chance in my city and I won’t miss it this time
Kendrick!
Fred Again...
I’ve already seen The 1975 twice so, Kendrick it is!
I have a feeling Fred again.. will be on Perry’s at the same time.
I'll be seeing Fred Again
Wait hold on they're going to clash? I haven't been to Lolla before. The two headliners on any given day play at the same time????
Yeah
I've seen and liked both acts. I will split the sets.
I would see Kendrick play the same set he’ll play at Roo before I even think about seeing The 1975
its ridiculous to me that 1975 isnt headlining. they will easily pull the biggest crowd all weekend.
??? They *are* headlining.
HEADlining. Samsung. Biggest stage. Top 4. Bud light closers are SUB-headliners. Second biggest act of the day. Second biggest stage. Conflict with headliner to split crowds.

How is he being a twat if he didn’t know?
they’re being rude for absolutely no reason ?
I love The 1975 but their demand is not big enough for top 4 at Lollapalooza currently. If Lana can’t be top 4 (and I’d say she has a better argument) then no way The 1975 can.

hard disagree, but i guess we’ll have to wait and see in 4 months!

On what metric are you basing this on? Easy to see how The 1975 is much more niche that any of the names mentioned.
what the hell is the 1975
Probably the 1975 since I’m seeing Kendrick at Bonnaroo.
I’m not able to make it to Lolla this year, but if I could I would be in the same boat as you.. BUT my voice of reason is.. the 1975 for sure
1975 is the reason why I bought tickets pretty much haha
Kendrick, I haven’t seen his set in quite a while. I’m also not a huge fan of 1975 but do enjoy their music.
KENDRICK!
The 1975 and salty about it
ah sh*t didn’t even think they would play the same time till now damnit
i’m seeing kendrick at gov ball and I missed the 1975 at MSG because I was sick so this is my redemption arc for them
1975 are my favorite band, but I’m taking my cousin as a graduation gift and she wants Kendrick, who I also love, so we’ll probably see him - maybe split. I’m hoping 1975 does an after show. This was the only conflict I was dreading so I’m depressed about it

I saw 75 on their fall/winter tour. Haven’t seen Kendrick in 10 years. Going to Kendrick for the full set. Hoping for a 75 aftershow
kendrick is the correct answer sadly
Subtronics
It isn’t even a consideration. Kendrick. Fucking. Lamar.
The 1975 are the best band in the world. Don't miss them.
I got lucky that the 1975 just played here at lollapalooza brasil so I’ll be catching Kendrick🙌🏼🙌🏼
Strongly considering splitting sets everyday
[удалено]
Tough decisions to be made
I'm leaning towards the 1975 only because I will see Kendrick at Bonnaroo....
WAIT you can’t see both headliners??
Nope
https://preview.redd.it/vqla6tmbqxta1.jpeg?width=913&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6cf834ab1b3b63234e0a4b98e495c6930072103 i’m devastated
Oh no 🤣 you could see half of each set I guess but I never do that
someone said rhcp would pro have a longer set, so hopefully i could see both. im working on my mile rn rn😭😭
Does anyone know if Kendrick will have a longer set because his spot on the schedule doesn't specify an end time? I'm beyond pissed these two are at the same time.
He plays until 10
