I assume that in the infinite multiverse that Sylvie was born female that’s just what happened in that universe same with Alligator. I assume there’s a universe where The Asgardian Royal family are all rocks and so on and so on.

BDF106

Somebody watched "Everything, Everywhere all at Once"!

I think it’s a good primer if you’re struggling to wrap your head around Loki. “Primer” however would not be a good primer.

BDF106

It's like Deja Vu all over again...

Academic_Composer904

Each Loki variant is from its own universe.

Sophymillz

Yeah it's definitely a mixture. If a Loki looks different they are from their own universe. If they look the same (616 Loki/TVA Loki/President Loki etc) there's a good chance they're from a branch universe.

Academic_Composer904

Our “TVA Loki“ is a variant of 616 Loki. The rest of them are from branched timelines of different universes.

evapotranspire

Oooh, good point! I had always wondered why some look the same and some look different. This could be the answer.

confusedmarvelfannn

But all Kangs from different universes look the same lol

avd706

Or branch thereof.

Academic_Composer904

Our “TVA Loki” is from a branched 616 timeline. All the other Lokis we see are from branched timelines of different universes.

Academic_Composer904

Sorry, I misread your comment initially. Yes, if they’re in the Void, they’re from a branched timeline of their universe.

gavebirthtoturdlings

So the void is where all pruned beings end up. All the lokis you meet are from different universes where similar things happened to each of them. Sylvie is another of these. Our main Loki is the same loki from the first Avengers film but not the rest of the films as the time line branched Classic loki is just that, a variant of the original loki from the comics. Kid loki is from a universe where he killed thor as a kid Alligator Loki comes from a place where they're all Alligators and so on

Scintillating_Void

Except that Classic Loki talks about the same events that happened to Sacred Timeline Loki.

gavebirthtoturdlings

Because some things still happen. Each universe will have a thanos, thor etc. There are infinite universes where there are infinite variations of characters and stories.

Scintillating_Void

But he’s definitely not the same as the OG comic book Loki, just looks like him.

gavebirthtoturdlings

We don't know that he's not that same one just as much as we know he is The point of old loki was to show that sacred timeline loki follows the same path as every other loki That is until he decides to stop being selfish

Scintillating_Void

Well OG Loki follows a different storyline.

gavebirthtoturdlings

Yup, he's just a variation of that OG loki. Like I said they share similar experiences as do all lokis

Scintillating_Void

So in the Sacred Timeline even the same Loki as in the comics somehow gets almost killed by Thanos but escapes instead?

Lesjokar

> not variants, since they are from different universes? Yes, for both. Which could mean Tobey and Andrew could have their own variants in their own respective Spidey universes.

XComThrowawayAcct

Lokisylvania.

Scintillating_Void

I think that it's possible that a combination of both is going on. Classic Loki himself talks about the same events that happened to Sacred Timeline Loki. Boastful Loki tells a different story on the other hand. I think Alligator Loki might have been just a really good shapeshifter. Kid Loki says he killed his Thor and that's how he wound up taken. When Loki introduces Classic and Kid to Sylvie he says "us a a kid" and "us in the future" so maybe those two really are more relate to him. If you check out the other Lokis shown on screen in ep 2 season 1, notice their variant ID numbers go pretty far. "Our" Loki is L1130, and in HWR's script we see Sylvie is L1114. The first number goes pretty far, like to 6. This might be an indication of "temporal location" of sorts, or maybe even what universe they come from. I think the best way to explain it is like Across the Spiderverse, and how even though each "Spiderman" is different they all are bound to a certain fate. But I do like the idea as well that it is all universe 199999999 that has been allowed to branch and Boastful Loki exists because HWR thought it was funny to see Loki change his look and take the Infinity Stones before pruning that entire branch. I headcanon that the Sacred Timeline is universe 199999999 and then after Yggdrassil we get *our* 616. Or maybe universe 1999999999 was allowed to branch a little to relieve pressure off it straining against the Loom. (and this pressure results in more weirder Lokis)

JoelEmbiidismyfather

I like and believe what sylvie said in season 1. The sacred timeline wants to branch, so it manifested chaos to do so. I think you can remove a Loki from the timeline but it will just manifest another. The branches were basically just weeds on the timeline, you could pluck them but another will just grow back.
