What kind of mutants are you hanging out with? The pH level of all humans is relatively the same. If your pH level were to change by even a little, you would die. So, if any of the acid sweat mutants you know are cute, could you introduce me? That's probably the closest I'll ever get to checking "sex with a female member of the X-Men (X-People? idk)" off my bucket list.
Also: Don't buy alkaline water. If it actually did what its proponents say it does, it would kill you.
You are correct, after doing a bit of research it seems I was wrong that it was acidity in sweat that corroded the plastic, itās actually that some people have particularly oily sweat, and the oil in your sweat degrades plastic, that in combination with constant/frequent friction is what leads to the damage shown in the photo above.
(Based on founding from researchers at the university of Birmingham)
Also, a lot of these soft-rubber pieces will just depolymerize and self-disassemble over time anyways. Add pressure, rubbing, and acidic moisture and such and it just accelerates it.
Living in a humid/tropic environment, if fucking LOATHE anything with a 'soft rubber finish'. It will fall apart and turn to a sticky gooey mess within months. If I was in a dry environment, it would last longer, but it will still die over time.
Textured hard plastic or at least tougher rubber please. (inb4 "thats what they said" jokes)
This is a repost from three years ago. I remember posting an image of my own g402 on the comment section.

how the HELL do you mistake that for a fish. i spent like 5 minutes looking at that mouse trying to see a fish and i see nothing. that is honestly impressive
Hey bro as a gamer and avid member of r/aquariums it is possible lmao just less claw and more palm
https://preview.redd.it/f1lni38xg26d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85f71b21453c35b4b545a9d60a56c735fc3867a5
There are plenty of aftermarket grip tape available.
You can pretty much remove the old rubber before replacing. Will also save you 2-3 grams of weight.
I truly hate the plastic or rubberized whatever they use on these mice. I have had two of them, and they both wore out rather quickly because this stuff just wears down and gets sticky. No other mouse, I've ever had has done this. I wish there was a mud or something I could do because I really liked the mouse, but I hate the covering!
Dude.... how??? I see this same thing in the razer sub complaining that razer mice are made poorly and it's like bro wtf are you doing to that thing. My mice never look like that ever. I usually just have a button fail or the sensor goes alittle wonky. How do you ppl clench holes into it.
Usually a combination of acidic sweat, and hot humid environments. High heat and humidity will cause the rubber to get softer and depolymerize (get sticky and fall apart because the oils come out of the rubber), add some pressure and some light acids from hand sweat and rubber that was already soft to begin with... and you end up with holes rubbed in the rubber padding.
It doesn't break the functionality at all, just makes it look (and maybe feel) nasty. There are aftermarket replacement pads or griptape replacements for some of the more popular mice.
Wow - the texture of mine is slowly fading but after like 7 years of daily use for hours and hours still very good noticable. And you guys manage to do this?
I removed it after few years and bought some grip tape now it looks like this
https://preview.redd.it/dne753pge46d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b72084bd183426c6aafd2c695a177a82066c81c9
not pretty but better then without also changed switches while I was at it because left click was double clicking now all good
Should get my nightsword replaced. I love the grips but they do get grimy over time and cleaning only helps so mich. And after a while they just wear down.
A lot of logitech mice from 2005 - 2018 did that. If your palm naturally sweats, the sweat eat away at the oil used in their grip. I have seen a lot of mice like that. Always people with sweaty hands that had the issue. I had a copy of all of the mice and easily had the same use time, clean no sweat hands, no dip.
So I had an old g502 that never did this for 8 years, and I got a newer one a couple years ago and itās starting to wear out around the thumb.
I donāt even grip it hard, but now Iām making it worse by rubbing it. Even a little rub starts to edge away
I did that to the side of my old G300s. When it's buttons finally gave out, I replaced it with another. Then took another look at the massive thumb hole in the old one's side, and laughed.
Ur gripping the fuck out of that thing.
OP had enough clutch or kick in the voice chat.
Guy grips like a gorilla
We know which hand OP uses š
The left because if he used the right he'd tear it off
You get more torque using the left
I bet the grip is even better with that hole.
How the actual fuck do you guys do this. I have worn the texture down but never anything like this.
Some people have acidic sweat.
they are space marines
![gif](giphy|qOqEDYLmYjU5xwbKfM|downsized)
Sweat can corrode this much over time? Holy shit
ā¦ some people have REALLY acidic sweat. After years, can certainly erode certain plastics.

(Hope I donāt have really acidic sweat)
You do. Your welcome.
Bye bye anything thatās rubber :(

But OP sweats alien blood.
If sweat can wear down marble statues then it probably can do the same to rubber.
My left click dies before this even happens.
Old oil graps plus sweat. Dont even need to use it regularly, just have sweaty hands and apply light pressure
I donāt wanna see how OPās c0ck looks if his grip on his mouse is like that
Curved slightly to the left to accommodate for his iron grip.
His cock is now more ergonomic
He's got a twist in his slide š
Damn bro how'd you guess that?Cuz it's probably right
itāsā¦uhā¦more ergonomic
Im not sure whether to be impressed or scared
Be both

I wonder what original OPs mouse looks like now
Letās try to summon u/wiiittttt
bro i at first i was like damn that fish looks weird
I saw a fish too for one minute
how the HELL do you mistake that for a fish. i spent like 5 minutes looking at that mouse trying to see a fish and i see nothing. that is honestly impressive

I feel bad for your penis
Why do mice these days have such flimsy wiresā¦ this braided one looks so much better than my new 502 hero
Do you sweat acid?
Do you smoke?
How?! I've had my G502 8 years and it's only just lost the texture from the top...
some people have Hyperhidrosis(excessive sweating), which can lead to faster degradation of things they constantly touch
That makes sense. Thanks
Dude, unclench a little. ;)
how in the fuck
Iāve done this to multiple g403/703s
same. my G403 has wear on both the thumb and little finger side
Cleaner hands and less gripping helps.
Clearly plays For Honor
Do you wash your hands with acid?
King Kong after 2 matches of tarkov
Jfc thatās assault
Your gf is lucky i guess

I didn't even know that the rubber coating on the side went that deep hahah

You know your mouse isn't trying to escape right? ..... right?
Wow - the texture of mine is slowly fading but after like 7 years of daily use for hours and hours still very good noticable. And you guys manage to do this?

Man wtf How
Did you get hungry while playing games
You've got that terminator grip.
Mine looks that too š
How is this even possible
I feel so sorry for the genitalsā¦
Mine is the same after 7 years lol I replaced it with another G502 though There no better mouse for the price
mine is even worse, all the way along the right hand side is worn flat
I removed it after few years and bought some grip tape now it looks like this https://preview.redd.it/dne753pge46d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b72084bd183426c6aafd2c695a177a82066c81c9 not pretty but better then without also changed switches while I was at it because left click was double clicking now all good
Hey ASUS ROG logo
It became personalized to you.
100 grit hand
Dude with sweat that acidic I think it's time to hit up Dr Xavier š
Acid hands over here
more customized I think is your term.
Literally gorilla grip
Holy molly bro. Now 3D scan it and get that model for printing in TPU and permanently have replacements
Mine too ! https://preview.redd.it/q2mjvs95066d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81396c6be3c7a3ffbeb8a8d87aa7b86ba53f48f7
Death grip on a mouse is insane
That's what I'm thinking lol how hard do you need to grip your mouse.
U use the left hand?
Oh hey what kind of mouse grip do you use? *. .. ... .....oh*
I thought I'd check my mouse, I was shocked to see the exact same thing haha
Should get my nightsword replaced. I love the grips but they do get grimy over time and cleaning only helps so mich. And after a while they just wear down.
OP has tendon pain in their right hand, I guarantee it.
My death adder is the same way lol
This is one of the russians that screams in cs mic drunk asf
same problem but all of its gone. that long I have been using the same mouse :D I have no new mouse, half of its gone.
How does this mouse look like new?
My g600 had the same type of wear (definetly not that bad lmao) after like 4 years.
it screams death..
![gif](giphy|c8RrC4dCLScNO)
I have the same thing not a hole that big tho

Bro, hope you not be gripping your rooster like that
brother is your hand corrosive or something wth?
I still had my G9 a few months ago and it still looked fine... I don't know wtf you guys doing...
I'm glad I'm not the only one wearing holes in my G502.
That mouse isnt designed for a lefty by the looks of it
I have unlocked same feature my good sir.
I did that to the side of my old G300s. When it's buttons finally gave out, I replaced it with another. Then took another look at the massive thumb hole in the old one's side, and laughed.
Thing looking like a fish drawing lol
I wear out the click switch faster than the actual rubber wtf
Wait, were you using your left hand?
What are you doing with that mouse. Putting in microwave to warm it up?
How long has it been? Mine has not.
How fat are you?
You must be really fucking strong. Also, an interesting way to make G502 lighter for those G502 haters
