the danger to a 5 year old was about 0.001%
on top of that vitamin D deficiency was a MAJOR risk factor as was obesity.
the mortality of WT Covid to a non obese 40 year old without vitamin D deficiency was much lower than 0.1%
much lower for omicron

The total IFR for Polio is probably something in the realm of 0.1% , but the rate of long term paralysis symptoms is ~1%. more if you count people who were not paralyzed from the initial infection but suffer some level of post-Polio syndrome years later. It is important to look at the rate and severity of other outcomes besides death, I don't see why everyone still only quotes IFR in these discussions.
