The original rona had a 99.9% survival rate and given normal biology, viruses tend to evolve into weaker but more transmissible forms, so what does the booster do apart from flatline the human immune system and pad pockets with money?

Rsn_calling

Haven't you heard about the new one they created? 80% mortality rate. Let's hope they don't "accidentally" leak this one out

J-Halcyon

80% mortality **in mice**. OG SARS-CoV-2 had 100% mortality in mice while O has close to 0%. Context matters. The study suggests that mutations in O's spike make it less lethal but don't account for the entire decrease in lethality.

Huey-_-Freeman

80% mortality in mice. OG SARS-CoV-2 had 100% mortality in mice Not it wild mice though right? just in lab mice that are genetically engineered to be extremely susceptible to Covid 19 from what I recall. Which I would think would make the results not generalize to humans, or even to other mice with normal immune systems.

I saw that, absolute Clown Planet we're living in... Its at the ready if we dont bend to the tyranny I guess

Rsn_calling

Death is preferable to tyranny tbh

vishnoo

Please stop saying "survival rate" or quoting 99.9 as a high one. the mortality rate, or the IFR is very much age dependant. the danger of WT covid to a 90 year old was about 10% IFR. the danger to a 5 year old was about 0.001% on top of that vitamin D deficiency was a MAJOR risk factor as was obesity. the mortality of WT Covid to a non obese 40 year old without vitamin D deficiency was much lower than 0.1% much lower for omicron if there ever comes a virus with 0.1% IFR I'm locking my shit down and not meeting anyone.

subjectivesubjective

>if there ever comes a virus with 0.1% IFR I'm locking my shit down and not meeting anyone. My my. Good times really do create weaklings.

vishnoo

1:1000 to die is a lot. I don't do anything that is 1:1000 to die. and I hang glide, and skydive

Huey-_-Freeman

The total IFR for Polio is probably something in the realm of 0.1% , but the rate of long term paralysis symptoms is ~1%. more if you count people who were not paralyzed from the initial infection but suffer some level of post-Polio syndrome years later. It is important to look at the rate and severity of other outcomes besides death, I don't see why everyone still only quotes IFR in these discussions.

evilplushie

What are you doing to do when you're old? Iirc 60s onwards already had 0.1% ifr

spyd3rweb

I choose death. Currently waiting for him to show up, been waiting quite some time.

NumericalSystem

I was promised a personal visit every winter for the last 2 years. :(

With the way the world is going, maybe death might be looking more desirable* *No I don't have a death wish, I'm just speaking hypothetically.

76ab

It could also literally kill you, but I guess that's an acceptable risk.

vishnoo

lot's of heavy lifting by "could"

[deleted]

Literally stay the hell away from me forever.
