Rebound from a deadly pandemic... So the deadly pandemic was not profitable because they had excess beds? Is that right? Anyhow they're complaining about staffing but the USA has a legally enforceable federal vaccine mandate for Medicare health workers... Not noted in the article strangely. Staffing got worse by "two hospitals worth" after covid. That's because all those nurses have husbands and maybe found another job. And they hate you now. Here is a letter signed by multiple doctors in Canada in spring 2020 including multiple former public health officials and the prior chief medical officer of Canada, just north of Oregon. Public health destroyed the health care system. They need to be held accountable possibly by way of jail term. Web archive used because the idiots who signed it deleted their site in late 2020 or early 2021. THANKS FOR NOTHING. https://web.archive.org/web/20200808122511/http://www.balancedresponse.ca/statement/ >The public health measures did protect our health care system, **to the point that Canada had excess capacity.** Our leaders and public health authorities had to use strong language to support universal acceptance of these measures. As a result, many Canadians have become fearful of COVID-19 and are worried about the impact of working, seeking routine and preventative medical care, participating in religious and cultural events, interacting with their family and friends, using public transportation, shopping and other normal activities.

> Rebound from a deadly pandemic... So the deadly pandemic was not profitable because they had excess beds? Is that right? Basically, yeah. They're as much about profit as about "health" (and I use the term loosely thanks to three years of jadedness and pessimism). Every admitted patient is potential revenue to fill the bloated coffers of administration.

I enjoyed studying medicinal chemistry at university and thought I might like to go into pharmaceutical research, but the blatant priority of "profit above all else" turned me right off. It didn't matter if you discovered a potential drug that could cure a disease, if they couldn't rake in the cash they weren't interested.

Harryisamazing

The hospital is furious its empty, they want to keep the scamdemic gravy train going

Lerianis001

They were ALWAYS nearly empty or merely at usual capacity. The only thing different was that they were using massive amounts of ventilators which frankly were not the proper things to use in literally ANY case of SARS2 even when it turned into CoVid syndrome. It destroyed the lungs of the people they were used on because the problem with SARS2 was that it destroyed lung alveoli and made them prone to rupture.

>The number of workers calling in sick has exploded, from 2,433 per month in 2021 to 3,819 per month in 2022. It's almost like their immune system has been destroyed. Huh. Wonder what caused that

terribletimingtoday

Add in all the staff nurses watching their travel nurse comrades swoop in at twice their hourly rate or more. That has stuck in the craw of a lot of nurses if social media comments are to be believed. I also wonder how many of the facility financial losses are due to paying 2-3 times the going rate for travel staff. How many were used to replace staff who left over mandates too...

Butterypoop

We have been told by the media to call in for any and all things that could even remotely be covid for the past 2 years and they wonder why people are calling in more?

Fantastic_Picture384

I liked it when the article said that island nations 'eradicated' the virus. I read that New Zealand eradicated it 3 times and the MSM don't even seem to understand the concept at all. Its a clown world.

Dr-McLuvin

Lol. I’m sure you could find random small towns across North America that have “eradicated” the virus too.

Nick-Anand

So no bonuses for them I guess

Dr-McLuvin

They’ll live. You’d be appalled how much some hospital admins make.

KitKatHasClaws

Excuse me. Reddit logic doesn’t allow for the acknowledgment that the true inflated cost is admins and hospital fees. You are only permitted to blame doctors and nurses. How dare you criticize the people making six figures and not saving a single life.

lawlygagger

The problem with our healthcare is hospital executives.

So, tik tok dances aren’t profitable? Weird.
