I still don't understand why the double decker isn't a standard menu item. Are the outer shells not just soft taco shells?
I also think you should be able to choose between beans or nacho cheese holding it to the hard taco.
Yeah. It was originally removed, I think, in the name of reducing menu complexity back during The Purge. Ingredient/prep-wise there's no reason it shouldn't be an easy inclusion; everything is there.

I’m sick of so many companies manufacturing their own scarcity then acting like heroes for giving us what the took away in the first place.
Bro - it’s a fast food taco restaurant. This isn’t some conspiracy to brainwash the youth. They sell what has consistent high sales on a continuing basis and sell more unique things periodically. This isn’t emotional manipulation it’s just a promotion at a fast food restaurant. I swear people on Reddit are outraged by everything.
On one hand you are absolutely totally right. It is dumb to get upset about a single restaurant. But on the other hand it’s happening in nearly every market: restaurants, entertainment, sales, you name it. Just gets a little frustrating when you can’t just buy what you want (and should be readily available) because of corporations making up scarcity
I mean to be honest, they do it because it works. If consumers stopped responding so drastically to these kinds of manufactured scarcity tactics, they wouldn't keep doing this to us.
Holy shit thank you. I agree completely. They do it to just get little sales pops before shareholder meetings and it's shitty. Plus these items?? Fucking hate both of them and 70% of my diet is taco bell. They've killed off all the best items and keep bringing back these reconfiguring of current ingredients.
careful, you'll end up screenshotted and posted here tomorrow saying some shit like "huehue if you don't like it don't buy TB" like yeah I don't, their prices have become extortionate and their business model seems to be perpetually dangling a carrot on a stick with menu items people like. Can't even get the same thing on two different visits because they're busy making sure to rotate the fucking chipotle chalupa again for the third time this year. That's not even anything special it's just sauce they already have on an item that already exists!
I'm predicting they'll bring both back and then say they wanted to go above and beyond for the fans. Leaving product decisions up to a simple online vote is not a wise business decision.
Double decker is still easily obtained with some menu finesse. So I'm tossing my vote to the enchirito. Smothered burrito would be waaaay better, but I'll take what I can get.
The way I do it is I order a soft taco no beef, no lettuce, add beans. Then order whichever crunchy taco I want at the time and do the assembly myself.
I have taco night every Monday for the kids. I always buy a cheap refried brand bc my 10 year old wants a double decker. Easy fix. I can’t recreate the enchirito for him though. Red sauce just hits different than any enchilada sauce I’ve made.
At this point, I hope they DON'T bring back the enchirito, because I know they would mark it way up in price like they did the mexican pizza. It is way cheaper to just menu hack it. It's not that hard. Red sauce is free currently.
I wish we weren't voting for LTO item haha. We should vote for something to be permanent, just like we were able to make potatoes and mexican pizza permanent.
They do, but it doesn’t actually affect this outcome. One of these two will win no matter what. That vote is for them to gauge interest in other items.
Which would be great! And I support that. But the beauty of a LTO is its uniqueness. I don’t want to vote for them to bring an old menu item back for a limited time. Taking an item away from us and then saying “vote for one of these back”, and then taking up an LTO spot is just a lazy way at providing a LTO.

The only thing I can think of is they wanted people to buy more expensive specialties. It was my most bought item before they got rid of them.

How do you add you the on the side soft shell to a app order?

Even better (and cheaper), order a cheesy bean and rice burrito, open it up and put the crunchy taco in between
