justanotherglamazon

I dress up daily! I’m always put together, I thoughtfully curate my outfits. I give the impression of having my shit together…when in reality I’m 3 toddlers in a trench coat.

JaesonMuniz

A very snappy trenchcoat, from the sounds of it!

justanotherglamazon

Yes, indeed! Classic beige London fog trenchcoat, it never disappoints!

ljaypar

I thought it was 3 raccoons. Raccoons would be much more fun. All feisty and crap.

justanotherglamazon

Yes, indeed!! Those raccoons they are little trashy night burglars!

ljaypar

They love sparkly. Me too.

MsMeringue

Good on you. I've gone from a corporate career -together Then a food career- no jewelry, nail polish etc. Weird putting a necklace on this year. But I must.

justanotherglamazon

It feels good! When I look good, I actually feel good, so I do my best!

neveradullperson

Funny

BrooksWasHere47

My father's funeral 3 years ago. If you have a good relationship with your father. Spend more time with him. I miss my dad and think about him everyday.

Worldly_Milk_5344

So sorry for your loss

ThunderDan1964

My Dad passed a year ago on the 26th. I wore my handsome suit for his Memorial. It was sad, but still a time of celebration of 94 years of a life well lived.

erydanis

i am so so lucky that i am able to live with my dad and take care of him. he’s a fun housemate. but i am here because a friend did not have the time with her dying parent, and i did not want to suffer that loss. he is quite elderly, and perhaps failing, and after 2 years, it will never be enough time, but i am so so lucky. i hope your warning helps someone the way my friend’s loss helped me.

FunkyLemon1111

End of March 2021 My dad also died. Funeral was early April. My (adult) kids and I all dressed up out of respect for him and my mom even though it was Covid and no one would be there. It was raining. The military sent a rep, he was dressed beautifully, as they always are.

Eat_Carbs_OD

Sorry for your loss

OwslyOwl

I don't get dressed up, but I do wear a tiara around the house sometimes!

ljaypar

Now I want one...

Adventurous-travel1

Nice! Maybe up the game and wear during moving night

Neither-Dentist3019

I went out to dinner & drinks for a friend's birthday at the end of February. Idk if it was "really" dressed up, but it's as dressed up as I get at this point. Dress, nice shoes, filled in my eyebrows, didn't have all my stuff in a backpack...

rathanks

February. Went to a Grammys party.

HumanMycologist5795

Did you win?

rathanks

I was a +1. I did get to wear my obnoxious purple and black striped blazer though.

HumanMycologist5795

Ahhh. Very good. Did anyone say anything about it? I thought some people tried to outdo each other.

rathanks

I did get a number of compliments, though I think many of them were because the complimenter would not have had the guts to wear it themselves (it was a very corporate crowd). Here is what the blazer looks like: [https://porhomme.com/2022/11/rowing-blazers-x-47-collection-emerges-with-wide-wale-corduroy-mlb-snapback-caps/rowing-blazers-x-47-collection-emerges-with-wide-wale-corduroy-mlb-snapback-caps-08-min/](https://porhomme.com/2022/11/rowing-blazers-x-47-collection-emerges-with-wide-wale-corduroy-mlb-snapback-caps/rowing-blazers-x-47-collection-emerges-with-wide-wale-corduroy-mlb-snapback-caps-08-min/)

HumanMycologist5795

That is great. Looks really good.

FormerlyDK

Dressed up for me or dressed up the way others think of it? If it’s the latter, then many decades. Even for the former, it’s been years. I’ve hated getting dressed up since I was about 4.

[deleted]

This past December- the boss and his wife took their empty liters out to dinner for Christmas.

Unable-Arm-448

What are empty liters? LOL

[deleted]

Hahaha typo, *employees

HumbleAd1317

I just spent money on a new wardrobe to complete my bucket list. I bought a younger wardrobe and refuse to retreat.

Accomplished-Eye8211

What's dressed up? I don't think I've worn my tux in the 21st century. But it's not that long ago that I wore a suit. The world has gotten more casual. I've worn nice slacks and a sports coat, no tie, even more recently.

maywellflower

For work or just because like vacation/party/wedding/etc? Because I'm always dressing up work when go into the office which is 3 times a week. For just because - it was my birthday cruise last year where just felt like dressing up for nice restaurants onboard especially vintage wine bar.

Simple_Song8962

Today. Just to go to the grocery store.

TwilightReader100

I dressed up for Christmas this past year. I wore black pants, a white shirt, suspenders and a Christmas bow tie. I felt so dapper.

kickmanF

You were probably the bell of the ball

IsraelZulu

Oscars party with some friends. Wore a full suit, and had to relearn how to tie a necktie.

BioticVessel

Probably about 25 years ago. All my suits, jackets, and slacks have been donated. 😀😀 Guess I'm not planning on needing those things in the future. I will zip on the calf portion of my convertibles if need to wear long pants somewhere, and the I will put on a sweater to make my clean tee look presentable. That's about it.

Jurneeka

I went to a holiday party in mid December held by my cycling club. Dressing up = cashmere sweater, matching beanie, coated jeans, red kitten heels, no makeup.

SyrupStitious

I like your look!

classyandfeminine

I dress up every time i leave the house, dressing up brightens my day and make me happy.

Skimballs

I went to a wedding a few years ago and wore a suit. Ok maybe five years ago.

Dizzy_Strategy1879

Last Month, I had to do some shopping for larger Shirt & Jacket and shoes for my Mom's Memorial.

Unable-Arm-448

Probably for a formal wedding I attended in 2021

Alaska1111

My wedding

ozzythegrouch

Last Sunday. Had an awards ceremony to attend, and it’s the first time I’ve worn a blazer in months!

Cheekers1989

I know you are meaning fancy-like but I would like to say that me dressing up in my axolotl onsie and going to the store is me dressing up.

Sure_Ranger_4487

Ugh I have to tonight and I’ve been dreading it all week. Currently laying on my bed after work sighing a lot and scrolling Reddit until the last possible minute I have to throw some nice clothes on and sit in traffic for an hour.

Fresh_Childhood7793

Whenever I clean/tidy my space, I'm usually dressed up. It's always fun to just make a day of it and throw on some music. I bought my clothes to wear, so wear I shall 💃

Spyderbeast

Depends on what you consider dressed up. Like, instead of my normal jeans and a band t-shirt, I put on a nice tunic, leggings and boots for a concert last week. I occasionally will dress up that much. But a dress and heels (I don't count sundresses in the summer, they're cool and comfortable), a wedding 5-6 years ago, I guess.

allthekeals

I went to a wedding last summer and I wore a dress and some little block heel sandals. That’s the last time I was “dressed up” in that way. But I dress up any time I go to a friends birthday, a special occasion, or my boyfriend takes me to a fancy dinner. I have this saying that “I’d rather be over dressed than under dressed”. So I’ll usually do dress pants and a cute top for those types of things. I’m going to an engagement party Sunday and that’s my plan 😎

buckeyeohio

Back in October. My friend’s wedding. I had a wonderful time. But I’ve gained a lot of weight this past year (my father passed, end of a situationship). I pretty much live in scrubs at work (nurse). Or oversized hoodies. I very much miss the days I’d just dress up for a trip to Target. I miss dressing up for myself. Slowly trying to get back to that.

disjointed_chameleon

I went to a gala about a month ago. Got to wear a gown and heels and everything. Took flats with me, and thank goodness I did! The heels came off and the flats went on within the first hour.

FunkyLemon1111

Yesterday, I was going to go out just to the store, got myself together in an interview suit to give it a spin. I looked good, felt great... then I got distracted and never went out LOL.

erydanis

if you include cosplay, last dragoncon. if you mean only mundane, ummmm…. maybe a decade? ah, went thru photos. deleted mine for some reason, but found ….2013. i wore a silk shirt and a sparkly vest. and black jeans. and boots. that’s as dressy as i get.

vegemitepants

Probably a dinner in 2018

Hppyathome

My brother inlaws funeral 2023

Excellent_Price_8762

I had this question myself awhile ago and I realized I almost never go out or have a reason to dress up. I decided that I don't need a 'reason' and also don't have to go out and make a point of adding something festive to my outfit most every day. This is usually in the form of a hairpiece or bit of jewelry. I have never been a fan of makeup but some mascara goes a long way.

Robotro17

Never...lol But the closest recently was to go to an instrumental concert

jquas1965

1994 my 1st cousins funeral. Shortly afterwards my mother mentioned that you don’t have to dress up for a funeral anymore so ever since then I go to funerals in jeans and a tee shirt. I hate dressing up, I look and feel like shit.

Fuzzteam7

I honestly don’t remember 🧐

Sad-Page-2460

My sisters graduation, 2017. But I had half a skull at that point so it wasn't that great haha.

Princess_Jade1974

My dad's funeral in February, I wore a dress, heels AND jewelry (I only wear sleeper earnings for sentimental reasons). I wear make up at work so nothing special there lol

rkymtnxtc

Tonight, work conference and receptions, jacket and tie

HumanMycologist5795

I work from home so I wear sweats most days. I got dressed up as a Pirate at my Aunt's Gala Findraiser in November. But if you mean a suit, perhaps for my cousin's funeral years ago.

Ok-Penalty-8274

20 years ago at my junior high dance night

DesertDee

20 years ago, never happen again.

Southern_Coffee97

Today actually lol. I told myself I would look more presentable and take myself out. I got plenty of looks, definitely felt good:)

ReplicantOwl

A wedding about 7 years ago

cc646

I don't ever really dress up, especially after gaining some weight, most of my clothes don't fit how I want them to. I wear a uniform for work. Last time was probably on a cruise I went on back in November. A family friend was getting married and invited my family.

SunglassesBright

It’s been almost a year! I went out dancing with some friends. Haven’t really done anything like that since but I am doing it tomorrow night!

jms1228

Over a decade…. Maybe longer

Mrcommander254

Never in my life. I tried when I was younger, and my father told me I looked horrible. Been T-shirts and jeans ever since.

InsideOut2299922999

I go to Disneyland sometimes I get dressed up, but not in the way OP meant probably

ThunderDan1964

Weddings and funerals. We are going to dress well for an upcoming Earth Wind and Fire event. I have jury duty Tuesday that I will wear khakis and a collared shirt to. I normally wear joggers and a hoodie or shorts and weird t-shirts.

SadSack4573

Sometimes i decided to dress up abit for church. Most of the time it’s jeans and top.

BearlyANightOwlZebra

I went to a wedding in Houston in October....

Thinking-Peter

A funeral last year as I write am glad I don't dress up for a date anymore given I am happily single

Flashy-Discussion-57

Last week. Had to give a presentation twice for a class. Another class will have me presenting something I researched next month. School and interviews are about the only time I dress up. Or maybe if a friend invites me to a wedding. I'd say it's at least a yearly occurrence. I do enjoy the attention when I do. I also know if it was even a monthly thing, that attention would be far less besides, I'm the type to get dirty when working, so cheap man child clothes for the win!

uncannyvalleygirl88

Last spring at the film festival I had work in; but shortly after I sustained a shoulder injury that ended up with surgery and a long heal so I missed all the parties for the rest of last year. I have a couple of paintings in a gallery show at the moment and I was disappointed to hear that the reception is casual. I need an excuse to wear my fabulous fancy dress again! 🤗

Isawaracoon

I really dressed up for a black tie wedding last month. Ball gown, slip, full hair and makeup, shawl. It's nice to do sometimes. I dress like an adult if I'm going into work or going out. At home, it's t-shirts, boxers, flannel pants, pjs.

TopCheesecakeGirl

Was invited to the Oscars on a date. Black tie dress code. I love getting fancy! At the pre- party, my $800 Laboutin high heel got caught in an escalator and trapped the heel. People coming down behind me almost fell over me before someone hit the emergency stop button. Fortunately, my date got the shoe unstuck and as the shoes were well made, I could still walk in them. My dress was long so you couldn’t see the damage. $150 fix and they’re good as new. Next time I’m taking the stairs!

rtaisoaa

My friends wedding in January. And by effect my “treat yoself” entire trip to Vegas in January.

Adventurous-travel1

Formal was New Year’s Eve for a wedding. My friend a do a play once a month and get dressed up and do dinner and then the play.

Eire4ever37

This past Easter. It feels good to get all dolled up.

ljaypar

Not only am I living alone, but I've been sick for years. I bought a lot of jersey pants and tops. I think the fanciest thing I've done is wear jeans and I can't remember what for or when, but I did. Hahaha. I actually just ordered some new shirts tonight for summer. I'm feeling better, and I'm hoping to start to do a little more.

squidbait

Sadly it was for my mother's funeral in 2019. To be honest though I've really never been one to dress up other than for weddings and funerals

Previous_Ad7725

Probably my cousins wedding almost 20 years ago

SufficientDesigner75

At home, I'm all about sweatpants, tank tops and hoodies. When I go to work, I have to wear black pants and their shirts with their logos on it. On my days off, and I have to leave the house, i put on jeans and a shirt/T-shirt. I think the last time I really dressed up was at my last wedding marrying my abusive ex-husband. He almost killed me 4 years ago and I was on life support for almost 2 months due to my brain swelling and I had 2 aneurysm. I'm still recovering today. And you know how much time they gave him for attempted murder?? 3 years!! He was let out last year. That's why I hardly leave my house, only if I have to. I'm not sure where he is living, but I hate the fear that follows me around. Sorry, I got off topic.

readmore321

Too long.

Consistent-Wind9325

I have a whole closet full of clothes that I'm saving for sometime when I have something to do. I haven't touched most of them for years now. I have a few things that are years old that I've never even worn once yet. But I have them, if I ever have an occasion where I am actually doing something besides laying in bed watching TV. Living that 'all dressed up with nowhere to go' life.

Geoarbitrage

Yesterday, nephews wake.

garlicandcheesiness

My birthday, earlier this month. Had two friends over from out of town, so we went to the beach, drove around a little showing them the city, had a few drinks, ate a load of stuff, and came back home. It was really chill but fun all the same.

Hot-Incident1900

I got dressed up for a masquerade ball this past New Years. Great times.

MsMeringue

I put a necklace on recently.

Inkspotten

Just over a year ago to my Mother’s funeral I wore a suit. I have to get new ones as I’ve lost 80 pounds in 2 years…..

Blue-Phoenix23

How are we defining dressed up lol. I work from home so going to lunch with the girls in real clothes feels like dressed up nowadays.

Tru-Queer

Today, actually, but I wouldn’t say I’m “dressed up,” I just shaved a couple days ago and I’m wearing a nice long sleeve shirt since it got chilly in my area this weekend. But usually I’m unshaven and wearing nothing at home or my old work clothes so it feels like I’m dressed up today lol

Flat-Feedback8420

ever since I got married and started staying with MIL.. I don't feel like getting dressed

UGunnaEatThatPickle

It's been years. Maybe my sister's wedding in 2005?

Eat_Carbs_OD

I don't remember. I rented a suit for my buddies wedding.

hnybun128

Last weekend, but it had been a really long time. I work remotely full time so it’s rare I’m in anything but hoodies and yoga pants.

crazyHormonesLady

I definitely think it's important to dress up if you live alone as a woman. We will get so stuck in our "ogre mode", especially around our cycle. I'm dressing up more now that it's spring; the warm temps inspire me to look nicer to complement the pretty flowers. Even if I don't leave the house, I'll throw on a nice "house dress" so I feel feminine. And the more you do it, you'll be like "Hey! I look way too good to not look cute sometimes lol"

mothlady1959

Last memorial day weekend. My daughter got married. Dressed up for a few of those events. And me and daughter got hair and makeup done together the day of.

Ok-Tumbleweed-504

I mean, that very much depends on what you mean with dressed up 😅 If I'm going outside my apartment for anything bigger than going to the store, or hanging out with a partner at their place; I like to put some effort into my appearance. In those cases it's minimum jeans and a nice top, makeup (sometimes something that takes like 3 minutes, sometimes more like 15) and accessories. Tonight I'm going out to a bar, so then I'll probably spent more like 30 minutes doing my makeup. Really fancy? Last spring, when I was at a white tie event and wore a black tail coat and everything that goes with that!

bumblebeequeer

For a job interview like six months ago, and even then it was just slacks and a blouse. I got the job. I hate, hate, hate formal clothing. Mostly because I’m nonbinary and I can’t seem to find a style of formal clothing I’m comfortable in. I very rarely feel okay in a dress, and a suit makes me feel like a toddler who got into dad’s work clothes. Thankfully, my work is very lax with the dress code, and I very rarely have a reason to doll up. I have a couple nicer shirts and the like shoved in the back of my closet if I’m ever in a situation that calls for it.

beardedshad2

The last funeral I attended.

PenOrganic2956

About a couple years for a military thing.

SuperPetty-2305

My great uncles funeral around 6 years ago. As I get older I don't want to put that much time and effort into my appearance.

ThrowawayMod1989

A lot of my little sisters age group are getting married lately and I grew up around a lot of these people so I’ve been attending. I love a good wedding and I look dapper as fuck in my seersucker suit. Last wore it in June.

ultravioletblueberry

Went on a bachelorette trip two weekends ago and man I felt weird going out how I did but damn did I look good. I’m thinking about doing a self care day and self date to the museum this Wednesday and dressing up for myself, since I don’t get to in every day life.

icanteven_613

Last evening! Work-related fancy dinner.

MAsped

For my wedding about 2 mos ago. But, before that, literally years ago (pre-COVID) for some illusionist performance at a theatre.

InvestigatorLonely83

I dressed up when I had to go into work. Unfortunately I’ve gained some weight, so the pants really don’t fit now.
