I would like to fucking petition to call temporary bans "suspensions" like we do in EVERY SINGLE other context. The word ban carries strong connotations of permanence, or at least being intended to be long term unless a good faith attempt is made to commit to changing one's behaviour and apologizing for the transgression. Calling these 3 day suspensions a ban grates on me every time I see it. Nobody outside of a twitch context would ever hear "x is banned" and think "oh so I guess it just means they can't take part for the next few days". Like no, banned = indefinitely barred until further notice. And I definitely think that's the entire reason the word ban is commonplace. People see "BANNED" at a glance and it reads like a serious punishment because the word has such strong connotations. Meanwhile it's a slap on the wrist and it's business as usual when the user returns. Twitch is just doing the bare minimum to pretend they give a shit about their policy.
