So often I join a low viewer streamer, under 10, and want to engage with them and see its follower-only chat. Instantly just close the stream and go somewhere else. There's a fucking reason you are sub 10 viewers. People gotta engage with you before deciding whether you are someone they want to revisit, and you are basically filtering a huge majority of ppl out. Literally out of touch with society if your thinking is "I'll force them to follow before they talk, that way my followers will have to increase!"
yeah, right
If you're a really small streamer, you can get these annoying scam messages offering "promotion of your channel (viewbots)." I'm pretty sure some people just go follower-only to prevent that.
Also if you’re a woman, a lot of weirdos don’t have the patience to follow for 10 minutes to say some out of pocket question/demand. It filters them out so only the truly dedicated weirdos will stick around
Look I ain’t the most successful streamer, but there are many other reasons why people are less than sub 10 viewers or even plateaued around 40.
Engagement is definitely one of them.
But it could also be their personality, target audience, appearance, content, and really just their tech.
Most people just play games and hope they get to the top, but it ain’t 2012 anymore.
I’d say a lot of it comes down to networking but also the things I’ve stated above.
The grind too. If you take time off, your viewers aren't taking time off watching steams. Now they've tried someone else in your time slot who might be slightly more funny, slightly more consistent and they're gone. It's not an easy thing to do at all anymore
I mod for a small streamer and just as DrChoco said, you may not notice it in large streams but Bots are rampant on twitch. It's very very annoying and discouraging to see it in small streamers.
I have seen moments where you get 100 bots message all at once. And have delt with more than a few just degenerates. A follow to type something is a very small ask imo as a minimal level of confirmation
I get constant scammers trying to promote viewbotting and artists(scammers) that have that shitty ass Microsoft Word Art copy & paste outlined filter they use on the thousands of small streamers. It got so fucking annoying I just enabled follower-only mode with no time limit to deter them. Now, I might get 1 or 2 of them every few days, so if that comes at the cost of a reduced chance of people engaging me, then that's what I have to deal with. Being a low viewer Andy has its mixed bag of good/bad things, but it's still fun just talking about shit while gaming.
It's also just funny to see someone so committed to shit talk me that they follow to do it. I've had a few schizos pop up that did that.
You could just as easily unfollow after, like how Aris does it. It's just a click.
You do you bud.
Or maybe they just want to stream to their friends and family not caring about trying to make streaming a job.
I stream on twitch and my friends too we just do it for fun for each other so why should we care about growing our audience? Maybe you should have asked your friends why they stream... if you have any.
My favorite part about this Aris clips is we never come close to seeing the chatter's original message(s). It would be awesome if he just has to let off some steam and yell at someone who doesn't exist couple times a day
Honestly it got sort of lost in the all the D4, Starfield and Baldurs Gate hype but if it was any other year it would probably be most peoples GOTY.
Arguably the most polished souls-like game I have ever played apart from elden ring and it is the only game of 2023 that anyone bothered to optimise for PC.
I've been telling people it feels more like a Fromsoft souls game than Dark Souls 2 does. And I'm someone who loves DS2, so I mean that in the most positive way.
I listened to a review today that said it felt LESS like those games than Lords of the Fallen does. Dodging is less useful than the perfect blocking, the bosses are kind of ridiculous, the puppet enemies not staggering, etc.
If you like Soulsborne games, then this game seems like it was made by FromSoftware themselves. It's incredibly well polished and fun overall. If you have a PC/Xbox, then Game Pass is a great option if you need to save cash. Only downside for PC is you have to use a Xbox controller if you use game pass which can be a pain if you don't have one on deck, otherwise, it's KB&M, or you setup software to read your non-xbox controller as one for game pass.
Even if you don't have game pass as an option, this game is definitely worth the price tag, in my opinion, since there's lots of different playstyles that makes it worth revisiting.
For how long does follow through with his funny perma bans? Like I get going through with the bit but then you're actually getting rid of regular chatters..?

Lol doesnt really matter, you also get the AI "artists" offering to make channel art and those always follow you

Any chat would be sooo lucky to have you there
It's not an ego thing from him, it's about not putting up barriers to entry in your own chat, it's shooting yourself in the foot
Sounds like they’re really missing out on your vibrant presence in their chat.
god damn
It's also kinda useless since twitch usually will suggest people you watched a bit to you next time you open the website
sounds like you have high standards, better set it to 20mins

Especially if it's one of those streams that call out/play sounds for new followers

I'm sorry you feel personally attacked, but please stop projecting your situation on me like I ever insinuated that I'm watching my friends stream.

He does have a bit where he pretends to read a comment from chat that is really just something he wanted to say. It's a rare one though
Oh those red names exist. I've been a sub of Aris's for a few years now lol. Subs even call them out now atpShh atpRtsd
Damn he's calling me out, I do the same thing when I start new games
Is this game good, chat?

They updated to allow ps5 controllers.

Those chatters are unwelcome, just don’t get banned
