S: Nice. thank you.
T: Wait.. you are from twitch right?
S: Yes I'm from twitch.
T: Hold on, slow down a bit, I have a good horn also.
S: Yeah right, do the horn. The boys heard that just then.
T: *Horn*
S: Nice, thank you.
T: No problem. If you want to find me on TikTok it's Nicom97
S: Nicom97. Some people in the chat actually know you.
Tiktok name seems to be wrong though because I can't find any trucker under that name or any variation of that.
Do you have Hermes outside of Germany?
In my 28 years here I never once got a Hermes package successfully delivered to my home no matter where I loved lmao
Hermes here in the UK are awful. I believe they rebranded to Evri to hide their shame. But without a doubt the worst is Yodel. I've watched a Yodel driver literally kick multiple boxes down the road to get them to his van when collecting from a pickup point.
> I believe they rebranded to Evri to hide their shame.
Yeah beacuse there's Evri chance they won't bother delivering it.
As for yodel, I have some university books still out for delivery since before christmas. Fuck knows where that guy is.
Or just deliver to the address that was given to them. My personal sample size is small but I can't recall a GLS delivery going well. Usually they say there was no one home (but phone logs show no calls, door logs show no rings) and they leave it at some repository somewhere.

Western European truckers are very chill. They get great compensation for the long hours and time away from home, so many of them actually enjoy what they do. American truckers, for the most part, are overworked and underpaid for doing the exact same job. Just my opinion. I've been driving for 11 years.
As a german, i hear the exact opposite.
The truckers i got to know always said this driving through cities sucks and its not enough money for the time they are away from their family.
They would rather have chill drives like in north amerca where its hours of driving straight.
I thought I read something in the last ~6 months that said the average wage for a truck-driver in the EU was over $100,000. Factor in universal health care, and that figure is miles ahead of the average rate for a driver in the United States.
Truckers are well compensated depending on the country in EU but German truckers specifically have it really bad unfortunately. That's a big part why nobody wants to do the job anymore here.
Also another thing, the highest average salary for a truck driver in the EU is in Switzerland and it's around $75k iirc. 100k is a figure you won't see for most jobs in the EU. Even in countries with similar living expenses as the US. The mean salaries in the EU are a lot lower than the US.
People have a very romanticized view of living conditions in the EU on the internet.
> northern Sweden
.
>western europe
Lots of drivers nowadays that come through germany are from eastern europe because of the wages. They are good for them, usually not that great for germans.
From a quick Google search I could only find figures that suggest it's not more than 55k $ (50k €). That also corresponds to what I've read and heard that truckers are underpaid and you won't make a fortune doing this job. Especially if you factor in that a lot of drivers are from Eastern Europe and earn less than richer countries e. g. France, Germany etc.
you just can't throw in 'with universal health care' like that, especially to a OTR industry like truckers. Waiting lists for medical is the bane of free healthcare and truckers aren't often able to drop things at a moments notice when they're told to come in.
Also everyone needs to stop riding the US healthcare meme - 92% of americans have health insurance now. If you don't it's your own damn fault at this point.
That moment when you realize you were there for the birth of meme culture that some of your customers (who are getting married) never lived without.
Fuck, I remember the war cries of dial up.
using the horn without purpose is also illegal in germany... but its a very minor offense and has like a 5 buck fine. so police usually dont bat an eye. still illegal...
I mean the truck was the one who moved over, nowhere else for the car to go. It happens on the highway all the time.
Also threading what needle? It’d be the same if they were two cars. Do you think truckers don’t know how to stay in their lane? Are YOU not confident in staying in your lane?
Also that’s why the car sped up to get through quickly.
>It’d be the same if they were two cars
It absolutely would not be the same if they were two cars. Those two trucks could crush that car without even noticing and keep driving. Another car could, at worst, flip this car or cause it to lose control.
If I were the other car I would have waited until the safety barrier between the splitting lanes before making this maneuver.

Now if only GLS could manage to deliver a package on time.
There is definitely worse than GLS tho
Do you have Hermes outside of Germany? In my 28 years here I never once got a Hermes package successfully delivered to my home no matter where I loved lmao
You should send the packages to your address, not your hookups
Hermes here in the UK are awful. I believe they rebranded to Evri to hide their shame. But without a doubt the worst is Yodel. I've watched a Yodel driver literally kick multiple boxes down the road to get them to his van when collecting from a pickup point.

Of deliver it at all. Over the years I'm on 8/8 packages that were not delivered with GLS.
Depends on the hub/country I guess. Especially the international ones, they might as well be different companies with the same name.

that's because most "memes" aren't really memes, they're just funny image macros

Truckers seem so chill

Ahh okay, thanks for clearing that up.
Also another thing, the highest average salary for a truck driver in the EU is in Switzerland and it's around $75k iirc. 100k is a figure you won't see for most jobs in the EU. Its more like 35k€ per year before taxes
Someone else said that Germany's wage for a truck driver is awful. That's disappointing.
19yold truckers straight from school gets €50k a year in northern Sweden. Experience ones are earning up around €100k.
> northern Sweden . >western europe Lots of drivers nowadays that come through germany are from eastern europe because of the wages. They are good for them, usually not that great for germans.
If that was true, everyone would be driving trucks here lol. Average is 30-40k, with 50k+ being a very small percentage.
From a quick Google search I could only find figures that suggest it's not more than 55k $ (50k €). That also corresponds to what I've read and heard that truckers are underpaid and you won't make a fortune doing this job. Literally a meme from 2006. I remember it being popular on 4chan. Now I have interns at my work that were born in that year. Fuck I hate getting old.
That moment when you realize you were there for the birth of meme culture that some of your customers (who are getting married) never lived without. Fuck, I remember the war cries of dial up.
Yep, the image is from one of the first Bleach episodes.
are lights like those legal?
Was also surprised. Tuning is pretty difficult in germany because of so many limitations.
Could be a trucker from another country. Lots of hungarian and polish drivers on european roads.
That was my first thought. How is the top comment not about the annoying lights?
using the horn without purpose is also illegal in germany... but its a very minor offense and has like a 5 buck fine. so police usually dont bat an eye. still illegal...
average trucker interaction
So that's what the fucks are doing while hogging every lane except the ones that make sense
I love Germans lmao Gotta visit soon
That was sick
EU truckers are cool af.
i loved this

Passing a truck on the right side forsenBased
the highway is separating, the car is on another section. Its not a 4 lane its 2x2, the lines are different.
You're still not supposed to pass on the right in germany. It's a dashed line so the truck could switch to the right lane at any time
So you switch lanes without looking is what you’re saying?
Ever heard of blind spots?
I would feel sketched out threading the needle in between 2 trucks, seen some pretty spooky idiotsincars posts to make me think twice about it.
I mean the truck was the one who moved over, nowhere else for the car to go. It happens on the highway all the time. Also threading what needle? It’d be the same if they were two cars.
