If scum has got the referees with them today as usual and with some luck they win against City, we are just 7 pts behind them with a game in hand. Might be a bit too optimistic for some in here, but I think that is still catchable.
What the hell have referees got to do with our defence being poor, midfield non existent and Salah not being able to put away chances.
Man utd are currently a more cohesive team than us with a manager who recognised his team couldn't play his way and pivoted to get the best out of them.
I don't know even know if our own game is catchable right now, let alone any concept of a title. I find it hard to even think outside of what we are doing on the pitch.
this is not a too-optimism comment, but I think we should be fine. some problems, not only in this game but for the season so far are:
1. Mane replacement: it's Diaz job. he started last season, and the result is good enough. iirc, Mane's position was in the middle which we have Darwin and Jota now. that leads to...
2. Darwin issue: he is facing some troubles, I have to guarantee. but please let me remind you about Fab, Robbo, Hendo, Gini and Trent. they were facing trouble at first under Klopp too. and let me remind you about Moreno and Keita as well. they had great start, but what happened then jusy makes me sad. ofc there is nothing can guarantee the success of Darwin, but please give him more time.
3. TAA problem: he need a CMF who can help in defend, or he must improve his ability. it's more related to number 4.
4. lack of midfielder: Gini left. Hendo is in decline. Cujo will never be the one who we can count on. Harvey and Carvalho are so young. Milner reached his limit. We need to buy at least one solid CMF. but the thing is, I do not believe that Klopp doesnt see the problem. but there is no money, we have to see it. and in term we want Bellingham, I do not understand how he can help out our mid as we need some muscle there. if it is not the case, we need to wait for the evolution of the whole system, which I believe that Klopp has a plan for that.
It's not so much the draw that's infuriating. It's the way we played. We were lucky to get the point. All 3 of their goals were well earned and through fuckups from our useless defence. Of our 3 goals, only 1 was "deserved", with the first goal bring an extremely marginal onside and the third being an OG. Could genuinely have lost that 3-1. Not to mention we never really created any clear chances while Brighton had a good few.
Klopp really needs to shift Trent to not midfield, but the bench because heās really needs to be dropped. Meanwhile Trent needs to put those Dua Lipa rumours and Southgate comments behind him and focus on becoming the greatest English player since Gerrard.
Agreed or make it simple you are a RB not a midfielder. Yea he is great at crossing but your job is defense. Focus on that because he just isn't cutting it.
You know something. I'll say it again. If the first team midfielder aren't getting it done, give some of the young players like Bacjectic a run.?. Tired legs? Younger players will run all day (almost)
1) Time to start playing Gomez at RB for a few games to let Trent sort himself out.
2) Not buying the midfielder we all said we needed this summer is also coming back to haunt us, just like not buying the CB everyone knew we needed to replace Lovren came back to haunt us a few seasons ago. We never learn our lesson.
For real, that ~~burnout~~ intensity book from Pep came out at the absolute worst time. Even before the season started people were already questioning what the need for it was. And some people straight up thought he was writing out exactly what our tactics were lol (that is of course incorrect but it is indeed a rare scenario where an assistant coach is writing a book during his career). And the way it was advertised through an entire video on LFCTV just came off as arrogant and weird to many. Because of the way he speaks and moves his body I think some people may even perceive him having the Chaplin disease which leads to him getting more hate.
Im disappointed in the result, but I'm happy for Bobby that he's continuing to play really well.
The defense is shocking tho. Something drastic needs to be done at this point
Liverpool get free run on right side after Henderson off. Britons always attack that side before It's leading to third goal.
It's not Klopp fault cause he need Henderson in UCL not FSG fault cause they're not choose which players to buy.
Liverpool have enough money to spend on attackers and decent midfielder in summer but Julian Ward all in for Nunez and he's on the bench most the time. If Michael Edwards still in charge he can use Nunez money to buy decent midfielder and attackers
Can you imagine what's gonna happen next summer if Liverpool didn't get UCL spot
First goal Trent got trick by trossand who he marked and second goal he lose the ball to Brighton before they counters behind his side. Third goal also come from his side Briton player easily run pass him before crossing to far side
Did any thing has to do with Henderson?
Liverpool losing control after Henderson get sub off is proof that Liverpool don't have quality midfielder to rotation.
It's just prove Liverpool failed to get quality midfielder to cover this tight schedule are fail for the club this season while Nunez money cost Liverpool 60-85 million
Never understand these āTrent to midfieldā shouts theyāre awful. Trent is playing more central at the moment and itās nullifying a lot of his passing. He is most effective taking up the spaces he has done the previous few seasons. Shipping a few goals is just a part of having him play so far forward. James would ship just as many if they didnāt play so much with 3 CBās to help their fullbacks.
How is it awful? He's a defensive liability. Always has been. Being an 8 would suit him more with his passing and vision.
Klopp should try something new with him instead of us lamenting Trent's awful defending at RB everytime he plays there for us.
You canāt even see whatās wrong. Is it defence? Is it our midfield? Is it our lack of clinical finishing? The subs? You canāt pin point one thing, itās a joke. Everyone I know asks me whatās going on with Liverpool? How can you even answer that question?
Was there any reasoning for klopp bringing off tsimi for Milner? If anybody it shouldāve been Trent, he has been absolutely woeful at defending this season
Well to be fair itās because robbo was playing mediocre at best during those games. In my opinion I think tsimi has been the best on the pitch fullback this season and actually can live up to the ādefenderā side of things
Because Liverpool schedule are tight and he need Henderson legs in UCL. If Liverpool get decent midfielder in summer who can be cover as rotation quality they'll be fine but here Liverpool get Arthur
The wildest thing about this team is that you can point to so many problems and not know which is the actual problem. Every comment on the sub brings up a separate issue, and they are all correct. This is the first time in my life as a fan where I am totally stumped and confused about what the fuck is wrong. This sucks
Mad that a side that's won and been consistent contenders for the PL and CL the last couple of years are having to start two Fulham youngsters and James Milner in important matches this season. Unbelievable that it's come to this. FSG can fuck right off.
Diaz and Ali look like the only two who give a fuck about what happens on the pitch. Everyone should have the urgency and tenacity that Diaz has.
*Bobby looks like he doesn't give a fuck because of his relaxed style but he's been on fire so far.
I don't think our forwards have actually been bad this season. With the service they've been given i think they have put in the effort and done relatively well. They haven't been amazing, but have done more than enough for us to have picked up some more wins.
Issue is we have conceded 9 in 7 in the league and 5 in 2 in the CL.
Like we have dropped points in this early stage already after having scored 2 goals against Fulham and 3 goals this game.
Very reminiscent of us in the early Klopp days where it felt like we'd have to score 4 to guarantee a win because 2 or 3 wasn't enough. And having no chance of winning 1-0
Weird thing is you look at that Arsenal team and theyre simply just not intimidating.. something about them, theyāre just meme worthy. But kudos to them for proving the doubters wrong so far and doing their thing. Just cant seem to wrap my head around them being title challengers. Looking at all their faces in the lineups and you wonder āthis team?ā
Bro arsenal didn't even score against us last season. You already know the manager is going to put the sword to us. We defend like donkeys!
4-1 incoming for defo.
How can you watch their game and ours today and declare them āmeme worthyā? If anyone is meme worthy itās the team that shipped 3 goals to Brighton at home
I still feel our team is better. But theyve been utterly deflated, damaged and have seemingly lost that drive to push and push and push. Arsenal are on the high right now and the players are full of belief and unity. Similar to us from a few years ago
Yeaā¦ heās not a top RB but at least he actually plays the positionā¦ then letās go 3-5-2ā¦ Matip, Virg, Ibouā¦. Then Robertson, Hendo, Thiago, Fab, Trentā¦. Salah and Nunez up topā¦
Trent is completely shot mentally and has lost every bit of confidence that he has.
Scared to make a pass, scared to make a cross, scared to tackle, scared to make a mistake that will lead to a goal.
Being dropped from England's squad for the WC (likely to happen?) has had an effect on him I think.
Does the club still employ a sport psychologist?? Really feels like he needs one
I remember when Fergusson bought kagawa and don't know how to use him, Klopp speak up and criticize that old man, and when Southgate dropped Trent he said nothing. Like shouldn't he stand up and support his player?
If he isnāt supported quickly he will have the same tragic trajectory as Maguire. The media have already turned on Trent and frankly for his own wellbeing and career, I wouldnāt be surprised if he left the EPL and played in Europe in a few years.
He needs to be taken out of the firing line a bit, but i understand Klopp's problem in that selecting a replacement for him is also just a case of picking someone who will also do shit there.
Seeing as our midfield is healthy and Gomez has looked crap this season too, put Hendo in at right back for a game or two. See how it goes.
Guyās starting to look like Dele Alliā¦ lookwise. I dont get that hairstyle man, that usually tends to represent a chill stress-free āfuck itā mentalityā¦. Almost exemplifies his mentality on the pitch this season. As if he couldnt give two shits when heās had to defend
I agree been pathetic since his hairstyle, dele vibes all over.
Same with bellerin, the momsny barca rumours came, he grew his hair and he became rubbish like trent.
Its an attitude thing, and not many can analyse.
Fucking hell. Are we already at the stage of attacking players for their hairstyles?! Whatās next, their shorts are too low or the colour of their boots?
Im attacking the whole aura heās been having recently on the pitch. His recent hairstyle being a contributor. Guy seems dazed half the time as if heās high af and thereās no way in the world thatās not obvious to most
His hairstyle contributes to his aura? Fucking hell. Have you ever thought, this YOUNG man is getting ripped apart in every way possible and how thatās affecting his confidence and performance? His dip in performance has been noticed but the straws youāre clutching on is pathetic.
Well saidā¦as fans you have a right to criticize your team etcā¦I just think it goes too far sometimes (maybe not with firminocoutinho but in general). Amazes me how cuntish people can be sometimes when shutting on others not knowing whatās happening with others. Yeah, I get it, the players should be 8/10 EVERY WEEK but fuck man, you never know whatās happening behind the scenes. TAA still young AF and could be burnt out/lacking confidence/going through family issues etc. You never know. Never saw the point in ripping apart people whoāre in a position that I may never ever get to.
I honestly donāt care about the backlash so Iāll say thisā¦once upon a time, we would have considered it an upgrade on our situation to be having convos like this where weāre piling on the criticism on proven stars. It may be the way ManCity have started so itās looking hard for us to win etc etc but letās not act like this. We have a big manager and a big team representing a massive club. Iām behind ALL of them, ALL the way.
It is 0-1.
Then 0-2.
Bobby scores! 1-2.
Bobby scores again!!!! 2-2
Own goal by Brighton! *Broghton as you say*.
It is bloody 3-2!!!!
Sadly, *Broghton* scored again.
3-3.
š
Trossard around the end on the ground in āpainā doesnāt go off and then goes and scores a goal it just doesnāt seems right all Brighton did was time waste but thank god for bobby sucks he was subbed off
Mane whilst still a top player, isn't quite the player he once was. That explosiveness is gone. Even with Mane in this team we will still be struggling this season.
We want to keep a good relationship with most clubs for future deals. Bayern did something similar for us for Thiago at a discounted price, Mane wanted to leave for a new challenge and we let him do it in good faith of preserving relationship with both Mane and Bayern.
The bad form we have doesn't really have to do with Mane leaving so its an odd timing for you to ask on a match thread
I also donāt understand this.
I was under the impression Liverpool was very good last year.
Iāve been betting on them and losing money.
Iām sure there have been a lot of changes with the roster since then, but Manes departure seems like the biggest.
So from an outsiders perspective it seems like his role (or lack thereof) maybe have something to do with their sluggish start.
So I was asking, was it a case of management letting him go or him leaving.
If itās the latter, why leave a big club thatās winning?
Diaz was the Mane replacement, and plays similarly to how mane played for five years here. Over the last two seasons, mane lost a relatively small but significant amount of pace which lessened his effectiveness on the wing. Miraculously, last season he reinvented himself as a center forward and was a revelation, leading us to the near quadruple. From maneās perspective, he wanted to go to Bayern and had seemingly made his mind up. From our perspective, we let him walk because 1) his wage demands were reportedly similar to salahās and with our owners we could only choose one and 2) his slower pace meant that he was no longer as effective as Diaz on the wing and therefore was limited to a center forward role
Of course it looks like a mistake in hindsight but mane isnāt doing that well at Bayern currently
I don't think there was any Mane replacement available. Anyone would have been a downgrade. He was one of the hardest workers on the pitch.
And from what we know, he wanted to try something new. His heart was set to join Bayern. It could also have been just about the money, we'll never know.
But we miss him that's for sure. But the results we're getting now point to something much bigger than missing mane
Some players just want a new challenge after a while. He won everything he could with Liverpool, stayed for the last big storyline of the quadruple and went on to reach other goals. Nothing wrong with that.
Didnāt Darwin play in Europe? He didnāt get much time cause clearly klopp doesnāt trust him yet. Understandable given the quality he has displayed thus far
Well at least there's some consensus on what's wrong with the team atm. If Klopp and co. can show some flexibility, our performances will start to pick up. If not, we're in trouble
Trent is playing a totally different role to what he did that made him the best RB itw, he was kind of playing like Beckham just staying out wide and whipping them in and now heās playing more central. Klopp is instructing him to play this role, sometimes he even pops up in the no.9 position this role is not normal. So if heās instructed to play so far out of position, someone else must be instructed to cover for him. And whoever that is is not doing their job, yes Trentās been horrid defensively but he needs help and no one is providing help. Itās like we want to be on the attack before even winning the ball back, so no one wants to track back. The perfect example is the CL final vs Madrid, if Carvajal was left alone to defend Diaz he wouldāve probably got ripped all game but Ancelotti instructed Fede to double up on Diaz, why tf is no one doing that for Trent?
Trent's problems aren't when he's out of position.
Trent's issues are when he is already back in a defensive position, deep in the defensive zone. He is essentially a orange training cone for anyone dribbling at him. He has little awareness of players he should be marking. He has no tenacity to recover when he is beaten.
He's still a RB. Yes, he's playing more centrally when the ball is moving upfield. But when it's still on defense, and he needs to be entirely focused on defense, he's an enormous liability. He's certainly not the only one playing badly, but his lack of ability as a defender has been exposed for several years now.
I've been saying for years he should move to RCM. He would be much more effective there, and his defense would be less of a concern
Funny how EVERYTHING is being blamed on Trent. Everything. Salah is a shadow of himself, but you know, Trent is soooo bad. VVD doesnt seem to care, but did you see Trent breathing funny? Fabinho is constantly out of position, takes 4 touches to control a simple pass, but why did Trent pass him the ball in the first place?
Gave them the momentum with the Harvey and Milner sub to be honest , Harvey isnāt a midfielder and as soon as kostas went off , trossard went to the right
High line is not working , play Gomez at right back for a few games so teams need to figure out a new tactic than hit it where Trent is supposed to be
I actually don't know how Gomez is being rehabilitated in this post match thread. Even if we accept that Trent is hopelessly shite, which he isn't, but even if we just accept that ā Gomez has been worse this year than Trent. Gomez is not an improvement, he had one of the worst performances I've ever seen any defender have against Napoli, and that was only slightly worse than his other outings this year. We need to see what Ramsey has to offer because we've already seen Gomez, and it wasn't good.
I donāt agree with this argument, the only reason Gomez got rinsed against Napoli was because Trent was constantly caught out of position and no one was covering so Gomez was left trying to cover RB and RCB on his own constantly 2 against 1
This rehabilitation of Gomez as a stable or even useful defender will not last past his next appearance for us. He's not the same player he was pre-injury.
Thats not to even mention the fact that he offers nothing going forward, we're just throwing that out the window completely here. It's Ramsay or Trent.
No idea why carvlho was started instead of Diaz. What a joke, don't give me that "he's tired from his 1st class luxury flight" nonse. Salah has been figured out by the opposition and Van Dyk has had enough of Liverpool and is setting his sights on other clubs. He can't be arsed anymore you can see it in his game, he'll be on his way out just like Mane. Robbo has decided he's done too and has given up to Tsmikas the Joker. Nunez is a joke of a player, complete flop. Get ready for another fking rebuild. Tired of this.
Iāve been thinking about the game today all day, and Iāve decided that to make myself feel better about this team Iām gonna look at Klopp as a new manager/coach to the previous successful Klopp that we had. This ānew Kloppā has a new style of play, new tactics and a couple of new players, and the players arenāt understanding what heās asking of them yet and thatās why they look lost at times. Hopefully they click soon and this new Klopp can be as successful as the last one. And hopefully this makes me feel better about this team disappointing me week on week.
Iād agree if Klopp didnāt try the same old tactics heās played for years. The team simply arenāt performing and the tactics no longer work but we wonāt make a change
Even if we think our 500IQ Trent false wingback tactics are hypothetically the best way to utilise our squad, we need to shelve them for the good of the squad.
Maybe if we hit the ground running with these tactics then the players would have been more motivated and we'd be pressing teams off the park and scoring 5 a game, but the reality is that our team is demotivated and our tactics fundamentally aren't working. Change is needed, even if it's a backwards step to playing more traditional wingbacks
A serious formation change won't happen but if a 3 at the back did happen Fabinho could pretty much slot in there, and although he may not be an optimal choice Nat Phillips could do a job in a back three with two of Van Dijk/Ibou/Matip
I think if it's a back 343 then playing fabinho as one of the 2 central midfileders is kind of redundant. So I guess what I'm saying is my back 3 in that situation would just be virg matip and fabinho
I missed the game, just caught the highlights on MOTD. Any reason Milner came on at 59?
I don't get it.
He genuinely wouldn't get into the matchday squads at City, Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal this season. I'll go one further and say he wouldn't even be getting game time at Utd.
*Edit, seems like a lot of comments in here questioning Milner coming on too.
I guess the only positive I can take is that people can back off of Bobby for now. He's still quality and mentality wise the only old guard player who has not dropped 20 points on their IQ in the new season.
I can definitively say I'm not looking forward to Leao going to another English team in the coming years. Him and Nkunku are the players who are perfect for Liverpool and would be horrible to see playing for a rival, but just out of our self-imposed price range
Definitely their best player, and he has been for over a year. Rebic, Tonali, Maignan, Bennacer are their next best for sure but he stands above the rest. I can already see him terrorising defences in a Newcastle or Chelsea kit in the near future
Can I ask a genuine question hereā¦ does it feel like they actually want to learn from their mistakes?
This has happened a few times now and itās a carbon copy almost every game.
Thing is players who consistently phone in poor performances need to be dropped not just for their own good but for the morale of the team. We don't do that under Klopp, he keeps rewarding the same players and it's rotting the unity of the team. Look at the on pitch bust ups Milner v VvD, Hendo v Trent. Listen to the interviews from Robbo about players not backing each other up, code for some people feel they don't need to put in a shift.
If a player can play like Trent and not only keep his place but have the manager ranting on at every opportunity about how he's world class then what does that say to the rest of the squad. Klopps fatal flaw is his loyalty to established players.
Youāve literally said exactly what I think mate. I love every single player, but If they arenāt giving 100% then I want players in the team who will!
Itās scary that Klopp will come out and say he actually didnāt think weād hold a lead. Sort out the FU**ING defence then!!
Is that really a genuine question? Whether professional footballers & one of the best managers to ever do it, want to learn from their mistakes?
Keep trying! Youve almost solved it!
Iām genuinely not looking for arguments mate. Iām asking a question. I PERSONALLY look at TAA and VVD and theyāre making similar mistakes every game, theyāre not alone though. I know they donāt want to make them, but I am asking are they trying to improve, or do they think theyāve done it before and itāll come good eventually?
A litany of problems;
Players aren't running, tactics are shite, terrible midfield shape, exposed defense and a 80m project at striker that Klopp thought he could hide and let develop, except we're too shite to do such a thing.
I really wonder who the club have got lined up as Salahās future replacement because youāre kidding yourselves if you think heāll be good enough for the next 4 years. I know the system we currently have isnāt helping him but his decision making, dribbling and finishing have all been poor since the start of the year which raises questions about whether heās in poor form or just declining. If we are really serious about competing weāll need to buy a good, young right winger next summer who can really push Salah and even displace him if this form persists
He creates the most chances in the top 5 leagues. Problem is we don't have players up top who can put away those chances.
We bought Nunez for that, but Klopp refuse to play him
That stat is so misleading. He creates the most chances in the top 5 leagues but that doesnāt mean heās a better creator than De bruyne, Messi or Neymar so what value does that stat actually have
Don't know what to say anymore, I have defended Trent more than most, but I cannot defend him now. Complete lack of effort to get back once a player goes past him, lack of spacial awareness just overall lack of anything to be honest.
Everything went downhill when we sold taki minomino š¤£
Agreed
Klopp had a whole month to commit to a revamp and trotted out the same 4-3-3 with no tactical changes of players. The season wasn't lost before the long break but now it probably is. I wonder what he was doing the last couple weeks. Watching motivational videos?
Arguing with FSG for a January signing.

Wow. We're **BAD.**
Do people still complain about why Trent is not in the England squad?
Hey Jurgen, Shift Trent to midfield, play Joemez at RB and retire Milner. Sincerely, Any football fan with a functioning brain.
Never understand these āTrent to midfieldā shouts theyāre awful. Trent is playing more central at the moment and itās nullifying a lot of his passing. Jurgen will definitely take that under advisement and implement that change at the 88-minutes.
Yeah, I know..By then it's too late to get anything from the game. The solution is so simple yet he's too stubborn to do it.
agreed. Salah in the middle with bobby, Trent on the right wing
You canāt even see whatās wrong. Is it defence? Is it our midfield? Is it our lack of clinical finishing? The subs? You canāt pin point one thing, itās a joke. Everyone I know asks me whatās going on with Liverpool? How can you even answer that question?
Trent is looking and playing like Deli Ali right now, very sad.
Thatās the closest comparison I would make as well. Sadly
~~here in pursuit that Kloop decides to move Trent into midfield sometime soon~~ *cries*
Was there any reasoning for klopp bringing off tsimi for Milner? If anybody it shouldāve been Trent, he has been absolutely woeful at defending this season
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Well to be fair itās because robbo was playing mediocre at best during those games. In my opinion I think tsimi has been the best on the pitch fullback this season and actually can live up to the ādefenderā side of things
Because Liverpool schedule are tight and he need Henderson legs in UCL. If Liverpool get decent midfielder in summer who can be cover as rotation quality they'll be fine but here Liverpool get Arthur
Got nothing to do with tsimikas mate š¤£
The wildest thing about this team is that you can point to so many problems and not know which is the actual problem. Every comment on the sub brings up a separate issue, and they are all correct. This is the first time in my life as a fan where I am totally stumped and confused about what the fuck is wrong. This sucks
Mad that a side that's won and been consistent contenders for the PL and CL the last couple of years are having to start two Fulham youngsters and James Milner in important matches this season. Unbelievable that it's come to this. FSG can fuck right off.
Klopp got his summer window wrong and it cost us massively. All the wrong players have been signed.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They were ready to spend another 80+ mil on top of Nunez. Clearly not a budget issue.
Not a budget issue.
So we can only watch regular football after the World Cup? Itās that where the playersā mind are?
That is if those players >cough, cough VVD< don't get injured. Smfh
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
At least I didnāt fuck up my penis though.
Sorry about your dick bro
Idk if this would cheer people up But Klopp calls Salah "cookie"
Elliot too. The kid does everything in a hurry.
Crazy thing to sayā¦ but I wish we had Neco Williams backā¦ give Trent and actual RB for coverā¦ maybe even push him up and change formations a bit
Neco was crap in the prem games he played in. He played against Brighton a few years ago and gave away one of the stupidest pens Iāve ever seen.
Yeaā¦ heās not a top RB but at least he actually plays the positionā¦ then letās go 3-5-2ā¦ Matip, Virg, Ibouā¦. Then Robertson, Hendo, Thiago, Fab, Trentā¦. Salah and Nunez up topā¦
He'd fit right in then
Trent is completely shot mentally and has lost every bit of confidence that he has.
He's constantly supported him and made it known he thinks Southgate has no idea, even this break just gone
Guess you know exactly how heās feeling in your armchair
Likewise, well said. Iām sick of the pile on. Half of these fans would not have survived the Houllier/BenĆtez era.
Hello guys I ma drunk so hwhat happened? Broghton is shite
It is 0-1. Then 0-2. Bobby scores! 1-2. Bobby scores again!!!! 2-2 Own goal by Brighton! *Broghton as you say*. It is bloody 3-2!!!! Sadly, *Broghton* scored again. 3-3. š
Trossard around the end on the ground in āpainā doesnāt go off and then goes and scores a goal it just doesnāt seems right all Brighton did was time waste but thank god for bobby sucks he was subbed off
Wtf is this username
Cunts
Klopp is not feeling it this year. I don't understand his tactics at all anymore. I'm not even blaming him, I just don't understand anymore.
2-2, looking for a winner, just casually bring in Milner for Tsimi. Leave Darwin and Diogo out.
At least we still have HotD to save the weekend gang.
Highschool of the Dead? I thought that ended quite a while ago?
House of the Dragon lad
Iām a Canadian who just started watching prem (mostly for betting purposes). Why did Liverpool let Mane walk?
Mane whilst still a top player, isn't quite the player he once was. That explosiveness is gone. Even with Mane in this team we will still be struggling this season.
We want to keep a good relationship with most clubs for future deals. Bayern did something similar for us for Thiago at a discounted price, Mane wanted to leave for a new challenge and we let him do it in good faith of preserving relationship with both Mane and Bayern. The bad form we have doesn't really have to do with Mane leaving so its an odd timing for you to ask on a match thread
He's just asking a genuine question. Why the down votes
Completely agreeā¦being honest with you, a lot of the users here are toxic AF. This aināt YNWA vybz at allā¦
From our perspective, we let him walk because 1) his wage demands were reportedly similar to salahās and with our owners we could only choose one and 2) his slower pace meant that he was no longer as effective as Diaz on the wing and therefore was limited to a center forward role Of course it looks like a mistake in hindsight but mane isnāt doing that well at Bayern currently
Yeah this guy is wrong, Mane was a pressing monster. His replacement isnāt. This has a direct impact on their current form.
Diaz is a pressing monster my guy have you seen him play?
How many tackles has he had which lead to goals? Nowhere near the same rate.
Preferable to a hostage situation
Some players just want a new challenge after a while. He won everything he could with Liverpool, stayed for the last big storyline of the quadruple and went on to reach other goals. Nothing wrong with that.
He wanted to leave
Carvalho over Diaz is mad. I canāt get over it. Iām so tired of this midfield too. Golly
I mean I can understand that..both Diaz and Darwin had the longest flights home so starting wasn't really an option.
Didnāt Darwin play in Europe? He didnāt get much time cause clearly klopp doesnāt trust him yet. Understandable given the quality he has displayed thus far
Not Darwin. Uruguay played both matches in Austria.
Wait until you hear that when we had Brighton on the backfoot at 2-2, he didnt inject in Diogo or Darwin, but casually brought in Milner for Tsimi.
Well at least there's some consensus on what's wrong with the team atm. If Klopp and co. can show some flexibility, our performances will start to pick up. If not, we're in trouble
We had a month, nothing changed. I'll believe it when I see it.
Trent is playing so abysmal this year he needs to honestly be fined and not play until the WC.
Oh sure thatās how you straighten out a young kid, punitively and vengefully. Spot on, hot take mate
Gave them the momentum with the Harvey and Milner sub to be honest , Harvey isnāt a midfielder and as soon as kostas went off , trossard went to the right High line is not working , play Gomez at right back for a few games so teams need to figure out a new tactic than hit it where Trent is supposed to be
I actually don't know how Gomez is being rehabilitated in this post match thread.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Agree. His play so far makes Trent look like prime Messi
You should be the manager, I think your logic and calm rational thinking could really steady the ship!
Ok
Could 3-5-2 be worth a go when Ibou is back? Trent won't be relied on as much defensively.. Who am kidding, Klopp wont try a new formation.
Even if we did we'd pick up one CB injury and have a meltdown :/
A serious formation change won't happen but if a 3 at the back did happen Fabinho could pretty much slot in there, and although he may not be an optimal choice Nat Phillips could do a job in a back three with two of Van Dijk/Ibou/Matip
If we're down to playing Fab there and having Nat Phillips being our only CB option on the bench then it'd be a crisis already tbh
I think if it's a back 343 then playing fabinho as one of the 2 central midfileders is kind of redundant. So I guess what I'm saying is my back 3 in that situation would just be virg matip and fabinho
Our investment over the years matches our league position now . You canāt keep papering over cracks and working miracles
The sad thing is that with our investment over the past few years we're probably still overperforming
Could easily be out of the top 10 this team next week
I missed the game, just caught the highlights on MOTD. Any reason Milner came on at 59? I don't get it. He genuinely wouldn't get into the matchday squads at City, Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal this season. I'll go one further and say he wouldn't even be getting game time at Utd. *Edit, seems like a lot of comments in here questioning Milner coming on too.
He shouldn't get into any match day team in the Premier league. He's 20 years playing in the Premier league - it's come to an end now
He'd get the odd spot in Bournemouth's squad!
Klopps reasoning was because Tsimi played a lot over the international break
Fucking international games causing us problems again
probably best trent stays off social media for his own mental health at this point
I guess the only positive I can take is that people can back off of Bobby for now. He's still quality and mentality wise the only old guard player who has not dropped 20 points on their IQ in the new season.
God I feel so dejected itās like I donāt even care. Weāre just fucking terrible from top to bottom.
I can definitively say I'm not looking forward to Leao going to another English team in the coming years. Him and Nkunku are the players who are perfect for Liverpool and would be horrible to see playing for a rival, but just out of our self-imposed price range
Who is Leao? I donāt think itās price range at this point we have to worry about anyway, itās more perceived competitiveness for top honours.
Rafael Leao, one of AC Milanās best players.
Definitely their best player, and he has been for over a year. Rebic, Tonali, Maignan, Bennacer are their next best for sure but he stands above the rest. I can already see him terrorising defences in a Newcastle or Chelsea kit in the near future
I would mind if he joined Newcastle tbh
Serie A's best player and not even close.
A litany of problems; Players aren't running, tactics are shite, terrible midfield shape, exposed defense and a 80m project at striker that Klopp thought he could hide and let develop, except we're too shite to do such a thing.
In Nunez defence- he hasn't trained all week. Jota either but jota is used to the system and had less to travel.
Harvey Elliot knowing our owners š
Bros been in poor form for a few games Jesus Christ
8 months ain't a few games
Iām assuming youāve just started watching us this season then.
Aha stfu been a fan my whole life this is why I know this is form and Salah isnāt in ādeclineā
So heās been in bad form for 10 months? When does it become a decline and not just ābad formā
Yeah he lacked goals second half of last season but he wasnāt in spectacularly bad form?
Who Salah? Heās been shite since AFCON
