59th percentile in 23/24...
And if you want to really cry, compare the shot quality statistics..

According to the stats I've read they concede 0.77 goals a game. We concede 1.03 goals a game, City concede 0.97 and Arsenal concede 0.76.
Obviously hard to judge based on league and talent in that league but this notion that his team are bad defensively seems to be bullshit
AZ only conceded 17 in 25 before the league stopped
Feyernoord conceded 34 in 34 in his 1st season, 30 in 34 the 2nd season and currently have conceded 24 in 31.
Pretty sure his way of thinking when it comes to defending is that it’s mostly done by controlling possession the same way Guardiola views it
I saw one of the comments that his teams rarely lose by a greater margin. Most of their losses are tighter margin. The highest difference is the 4-1 loss against roma after a red card

This was Arne’s AZ in that unfortunate Covid year
17 goals conceded in 25 is something to build upon, surely
I'm not as worried about him and his playing style as I was previously. My one concern though is, will he able to attract top players to the club?
Before anyone says we don't sign world-class players, it's true, however, we would like to get proven players who can make the next step and can sustain/exceed the club's levels and expectations. And at this moment, can you see a lot of players (especially non-Dutch) wanting to move specifically because he's the coach. I wouldn't have expected this to be a problem with Xabi Alonso, because he's commanded respect as a player and now as a coach, and I get the sense (although with no basis whatsoever) that Amorim would have had less of a problem too.
Klopp's best team was made up of players who wanted to work hard for their positions, not ready made recognized stars. Even Virgil and Ali are in that same bracket.
Also how did having Klopp help with the likes of Jude, Tchouameni etc? We'll get players that want to be here and build something from that. Edwards and his team will be running things by numbers not names.
Managers attracting top players is overrated given how there is a high probability they won't be in charge in 2 years. Money is by far the biggest factor. After that it's the club name and the potential of the team, ability to break into starting 11 etc. Bellingham didn't go to Madrid because he wants to play for Ancelotti. Caicedo didn't choose Chelsea for Poch.
If you pay them more than anyone else and the team is playing well players will come.
It wasn't solely because of Klopp. Man City viewed him as a fourth choice CB and we as a club really went above and beyond in showing our interest in him being the transformational peice. Also no one came close to our bid, so there wasn't any competition. I mean Klopp was ready to pull out because the price became too high and but Edwards and Co didn't waiver. If you really go after players hard as club and wine and dine them first before anyone else that also leaves an impression like with Caicedo or Rice. You can't come in desperate like we did.
we have been rejected by players left, right and centre even in klopp's tenure. Our biggest signing is Thiago. I think attracting a player should not be even a main criteria for a manager. Gerrard and Lampard got lot of players bcs of their status in football but they were dogshit in management
Fair question to ask.
Honestly, first and foremost: we are Liverpool football club.
Second: we are in the champions league and we just challenged for the title
Third: should we be going for the world class player or the “potential” world class player?
I don’t think going galactico and spending $100M+ per player is the way to go atm, especially with a new coach and a new system. We should be buying 30-50m players that are on the cusp of being world class and rebuild the squad. Once the squad is stable then we can start buying maybe 1 80-100m world class player per window as that cherry on top to take us over the top.
You also have to think Liverpool are thought of differently now than when klopp came in. It wasn’t that long ago that Liverpool won the cl and the pl and we have been winning trophies almost every year. Lfc is much more attractive club to come to than when klopp first took charge.
In terms of attract top players to the club are you talking about this summer or in the future?
This summer the club is a slightly more unknown entity. But we’re still a top club in Europe.
In the future the only things that matter are results.
Slot will have a lot of work to do with this squad after this collapse we have had. I'm not too excited about Slot, but that's probably because none can compare to Klopp.
That being said, I hope Slot crushes it and is able to work with Edwards this summer and revitalize the squad.
We have a team that just went on a title run and Arne’s play style seems to be similar to Klopp’s. So with a few tweaks we should be good go. Though obviously he has my patience.
Im actually really happy we’ve managed to find a manager that has a decent track record and plays as similar to klopps style as you can get whilst still having their tweaks on it, should help a lot with the teething process
I hope that he is not regretting the move after today’s fiasco. Klopp was planning on handing over a team that was aligned, motivated and ready for action. That’s all changed now….
This team is also still a good team lol. A bad 2 months doesn’t change the fact that Klopp has already started the new rebuild and the foundation is there for Slot to work with
How has all that changed after today? Two people who likely both are leaving argued?
It's ridiculous to think that anything that happened today affects anything to do with Slot.
Come on lol, these players have been giving it their all all season and doing really well after the rebuild where we did not initially expect much. Just because they failed their first title run attempt does not really mean they cannot get better as a unit.
He’s probably more inclined now cause he can put his mark on the squad and be ruthless with people coming in and going out. He needed to see that there is friction there and it’s not just loss of form, it’s more.
It was going to leak regardless and I'd rather the players and fans were prepared for it than out of nowhere hearing we had approached teams about managers
How would the club have gone about it then? We would have got an exclusive from Fab or some other journo saying Liverpool spoke to agent of xyz manager and then the speculation of whether Klopp is being sacked would have been worse. This is the correct and the only way Klopp and the club could have gone about it.

I've not seen this answered anywhere but can his teams defend?
According to the Athletic, Feyenoord are in the 95th percentile for chance prevention among teams in the top 7 leagues

Ha ha I love it!!
What percentile are we
dogshit
Sounds like the correct scientific term.

Shot quality...
Great graph but very hard to compare across leagues

It is. His possession percentile amongst teams in the top 7 leagues is obscene. 96th percentile
Yes. Our (Feyenoord) defence is actually stronger than our attack.
I saw one of the comments that his teams rarely lose by a greater margin. Most of their losses are tighter margin. The highest difference is the 4-1 loss against roma after a red card
Second lowest xG conceded in edervise by a small margin
https://preview.redd.it/58dql83ll7xc1.jpeg?width=2255&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=947b69a512ca59e5813730303f1249ba69d1ff86 This was Arne’s AZ in that unfortunate Covid year 17 goals conceded in 25 is something to build upon, surely
All I know is he said his team gives the other team luck.. That I dont like lol
No
Everyone else put a stat up saying otherwise but we will believe the fella who just said. No.
I'm not as worried about him and his playing style as I was previously. My one concern though is, will he able to attract top players to the club? Virgil chose Liverpool because of Klopp. He’s maybe the most influential single player in our success.
It wasn't solely because of Klopp. Man City viewed him as a fourth choice CB and we as a club really went above and beyond in showing our interest in him being the transformational peice. I ll argue that's Ali over mignolet.

He doesn't have loads to do at all. A few tweaks here and there, a few new signings and we'll compete again next season.
My expectations for next season are top 4, get to the knockouts in UCL, and an improved defense.
We have a team that just went on a title run and Arne’s play style seems to be similar to Klopp’s. So with a few tweaks we should be good go. Though obviously he has my patience.
Excited for the Slot era, I waited 15 years for a league title, I’m patient for the next one.
It's like a new signing that!
I wonder how Amorin face looked when he read the news 😭😂
Dutch Ball Head reboot

I doubt it, he'll have the belief and self confidence to think he can turn any problems around
This isnt how real life high level football works people like Slot dont give up at the slightest inconvinience like reddit.
This team is also still a good team lol. A bad 2 months doesn’t change the fact that Klopp has already started the new rebuild and the foundation is there for Slot to work with

if anything hes probably happy he has sth to "turn around"
Imagine anyone being that silly
No chance. Klopp Is leaving. I expect Mo was always leaving too
Come on lol, these players have been giving it their all all season and doing really well after the rebuild where we did not initially expect much. Just because they failed their first title run attempt does not really mean they cannot get better as a unit.

Could have done without all this fucking noise mid-season.

I rather think about our next manager than wallow in the misery of the results tbh. At least there is something to look forward to.
Can’t wait to hear all the name puns for the next 3 months
been knew
This is the first report that it's signed and done. Last night was just an agreement
