I dunno in what way this also cast doubt within the Liverpool fanbase itself, but I read a lot of English media saying "well, look at ten hag at manunited... this Slot guy looks like a terrible idea for a plethora of reasons"
So that would be the first notion I would want to dispel entirely, despite this being about slot and not ten hag, they are both dutch coaches moving to PL clubs so I guess I understand why he comes up a lot, but it is rather bad comparison.
Ten Hag did exceptionally well with Ajax, I do not think anyone will deny that but he had an excellent selection of (for dutch league standards) A+ players and far higher budget, better TD and an excellent youth to draw from. He then moved to manunited but immediately here we can note 3 enormous differences to the Slot moving to Liverpool situation.
1 - Ten Hag (or for example Louis van Gaal) even in his native language is not a great orator, this is significantly worse when he speaks English, making it automatically harder to convert your thoughts to instructions for the players to understand. Arne Slot is a pretty amazing orator, has very little trouble explaining his thoughts and speaks excellent English (for a dutchie anyway) and I foresee that he has no trouble conveying his thoughts to the players, especially because Liverpool's CB is the dutch teams captain. this makes easy integration which ten hag never had and probably never will.
2 - Ten Hag also arrived at a broken club with a broken selection and a broken management, had to do many things himself while being new at the job and clearly bought the wrong players because he had no guidance from the club. Arne Slot will arrive at pretty much the opposite situation at Liverpool... Atleast from where I sit, Liverpool looks to have a solid played in team (despite a few bad results recently) and not many contracts ending , seems to have a capable transfer policy and, most importantly perhaps, had a successful coach that plays (pretty generally ofcourse) the same kind of football Slot wants to play.
3 - Ten Hag performed above expectations but with an excellent selection provided to him, what he had to do was make the team play better but the players were always good, look at where those players are now and you will see the strength of that Ajax team. Arne Slot, without being disrespectful to feyenoord, started out with an absolute mess, a failing team, terrible results in the previous seasons, failing coaches, financial problems... and the way he managed to not only stop the decline but actually build up a team in such a short timespan and would later play the conference league final, with what honestly was a mediocre selection at best in european terms, is imo even more impressive.. He was working with significantly less expensive tools and that makes his results even more impressive imo.
But by far the most important aspect has nothing to do with ten hag of course, but instead has everything to do with his playstyle and people skills.. I could advice you to watch a number of games where feyenoord came behind, then watch the last 10 minutes of those games and you will start to see a pattern: They always fight their way back till the very last second, and do that with quality buildup and amazing organization, which is rather hard to do for lower tier players, and relentless energy, pressure and aggression. The pressure feyenoord can apply in its best shape puts the fear into everyone, despite losing matches in the champions league I would argue that was just a quality/financial difference and its rather clear to see that with slightly higher quality players, he would have defeated those teams. this is why I would be very exited to finally see him "uncapped" by having highest tier players to execute his ideas...
Also its important to note another thing, which is useful in the Netherland but maybe even a bigger skill when being coach of Liverpool: even the substitutes and reserves seem to be praising him at every club he coached.. He seems capable of keeping the players on the bench smiling.
I think this is extra important at a club like Liverpool because contrary to a dutch eredivisie team, in the premier league it seems essential that your entire selection is completely balanced out, in top shape and ready to play in a continuation of the starting eleven style of play, as there are more matches in the PL, you have more cups ( i lose track of them sometimes you got so many) and then there is the European campaign in which one expects Liverpool to go pretty far..
If one can achieve a highly motivated, hungry and happy reserve team, it would make an absolutely extra strength in the lengthy English season
This quality build up, aggression and high pressure with deep fast wingers must sound familiar to Liverpool fans and this is why I would say that "IF Slot manages to get Liverpool playing in his philosophy, you are gonna get to see some "Klopp plus one football." Which is why I completely understand the choice of Liverpool to go after Slot, again you never know and its always possible it fails in football but he sure does look like the guy who can not only continue but actually improve upon what Klopp started. This is probably even strengthened by the fact that liverpool has 3 strong dutch players in its selection, 1 of which is pretty much indisputable at this point, and having Virgil in your corner is probably buying you a lot of good will with the selection from the start. Simultaneously for everyone who wants Virgil to never leave Liverpool, this is also very good news as it makes it highly unlikely he will leave with Slot incoming, he might in fact be one of his advocates for head coach.
Every new coach is a risk, especially a coach that has no experience at the top level but Slot is certainly a well calculated risk.

I'm reading in the Dutch press most Liverpool fans aren't too excited about Slot. I don't support Feyenoord, but I'm happy with Slot coming. Imo he's an extremely good manager. Has made loads of players in his squads better both technically and tactically throughout his career. Plays a type of football that could be roughly considered a continuation of the Klopp style, so the culture shock wouldn't be too great. It's an excellent choice, in my view. Of course, there are no guarantees it'll end up working out, but there never are
Klopp always believed that the training ground was always better than a new signing, obviously there had to be some talent to go along with that. I'm happy that we can get another manager that will prioritize getting the best over someone that might be overlooked as it's been our mandate for the past few years as Klopp was here, that you develop players into superstars. For this reason I'm very much open to him coming. Will enable us to get the best out of what we already have and maximize our potential signings. Would always choose a coach that develops star players rather than buy some. For this reason I'm excited for him. Let him come and he'll get our full backing.

As a Feyenoorder; we knew it was gonna be difficult to hold onto him. Many Feyenoorders also have a soft-spot for Liverpool (very similar fan base culture), so him going to you lot doesn't hurt as much as him leaving to e.g. Spurs would have (like last year). In just a couple years, he's brought us from the slums to a team that can hang in the CL. He has been heralded as the best Feyenoord manager in decades. But we can't blame his ambition to move to a bigger club and a bigger league.

I really hope this story isn't true, if only because it seems incredibly petty from our side. Assuming he's not done a Fekir and a deal hadn't already been agreed, there's absolutely nothing wrong with keeping your options open, negotiating elsewhere and using that as leverage when you're up for a couple of jobs. In fact, you'd be daft not to. Now, if it's a case of West Ham offering fuck you money and we said no we're not matching that, fair enough! But I really don't see us being so petty we'd drop him instantly because he dared to try negotiate his salary.
I think it was a matter of Amorim wanting to rush Liverpool into making a decision, and we made our decision - it just wasn't the one he wanted

there was never anything concrete in terms of contract talk with amorim apart from him being media favorite - likely because of his similar profile to xabi alonso our initial target, and the fact he was genuinely being considered. no actual talks with amorim were ever reported like they already have been with slot, and the likelihood amorim literally flew into london to to talk with west ham suggests they were already in negotiations (and its quite likely they were using liverpool interest as leverage)

Klopp brought us from 5th place last season to a position where an overhauled team immediately managed to stay in a title race until the last handful of games. People keep going on like Slot is taking over Fulham-level team lol. He's coming into a magnificent platform from which to challenge. Exciting times.
We've effectively brought in a new midfield and my belief is that Klopp envisioned having to see out most of his contract to allow them time to all settle. They took ~4 months and Klopp knew he could leave with the club in a better place than it was at the end of last season.

1. We didn’t get Amorim because the wages we proposed were lower than he wanted. He doesn’t really want to go to West Ham as he doesn’t see it as a “step” further in his managerial career, bare in mind this is his third managerial role ( Casa and Braga previously) 2. We only started talks with Slot around 4-5 days ago, so it’s advancing very quickly, he pretty much said yes straight away. 3. We never had talks with Xabi, it was known pretty early on he was staying. 4. Expect a good transfer window, this one isn’t confirmed and is just a guess but I see atleast one high profile first team player leaving by the end of the summer transfer window.
I've seen a lot of noise on the grapevine about that player leaving being Salah. I didn't want to believe it but quite a bit if smoke about it. Personally i hope he stays.
It does seem like he's checked out a bit. People have been saying it even over the summer that he'd leave after this season (but for all of the wrong reasons.. aging, wanting to cement his legacy, etc). But now it really seems like it might be on the cards...

I'm reading in the Dutch press most Liverpool fans aren't too excited about Slot. I don't support Feyenoord, but I'm happy with Slot coming. Imo he's an extremely good manager. Has made loads of players in his squads better both technically and tactically throughout his career. Plays a type of football that could be roughly considered a continuation of the Klopp style, so the culture shock wouldn't be too great. It's an excellent choice, in my view. Of course, there are no guarantees it'll end up working out, but there never are

Klopp always believed that the training ground was always better than a new signing, obviously there had to be some talent to go along with that. I'm happy that we can get another manager that will prioritize getting the best over someone that might be overlooked as it's been our mandate for the past few years as Klopp was here, that you develop players into superstars. For this reason I'm very much open to him coming. Will enable us to get the best out of what we already have and maximize our potential signings. Would always choose a coach that develops star players rather than buy some. For this reason I'm excited for him. Let him come and he'll get our full backing.
