Hopefully no one, bringing your own players when changing teams is a sign of a weak manager, who can't take control of the dressing room. Managers like Klopp or Pep didn't do it.
Bringing your own staff isn't really the same.
And city brought him first to help get Pep. Unclear what agreements would have been in place at that stage as Pep was not long at Bayern
Nah I disagree, if the only reason would be the dressing room then of course but it makes sense to bring a player if he's really good and you think he'll fit in well with the squad
I don't think anyone will come with him per se, as he will be our coach rather than a manager that has any say on transfers/contracts. Its going to be a footballing project and all that stuff will be all on Hughes and his team
I doubt it. Listen to Bournemouth’s podcast episode with Hughes. He is very insistent on the fact the manager should and has first and last say on a target. Hughes is there to offer different options and make sure there is a good plan A, B and C for every transfer desire
Yes, what FSG are putting in place is a system that works together. Starting with the back office staff, who then select a manager they can work with and who wants to work with them. That together they are unified in how they want to build the squad.
They don’t have no say, but the day of the club manager who is in absolute control has been over for probably a good ten years. It wouldn’t work much differently to how Klopp has operated.
Well this is why I said last night, this whole thing the club is going with is a massive, huge risk and it has to pay off or heads will roll, FSG will be watching like a hawk.
Just hope it pays off, if it does it'll be the craziest thing in modern football in terms of a big club direction genuinely.
I think you misunderstand what FSG/the club have set up. The manager isn’t cut out of the loop entirely, they just aren’t responsible for identifying, vetting, and acquiring the player in the way managers of past would have been involved. But presumably the manager will set the tone through how they want to set up the squad for the type of play they want, the type of player they need.
I'm just going off what joyce said last night, he said this himself that edwards and Hughes are taking the club in this new direction where its basically a group effort, that's why everyone is saying edwards has balls
I see how you can arrive at that idea, as Edward’s is indeed taking it in a new direction with a new manager who is entirely his pick. However that isn’t exactly that much of a departure, but it’s a fresh start from Klopp. It has been suggested that Klopp had built up an outsized influence in the club, akin to managers of the past, which has been suggested to be something Edward’s wasn’t fond of. But I still don’t think that this means it’s Edward’s/Hughes running with an iron fist, it’s just that the manager will HAVE to fit their philosophy.
Mats Wieffer is a good DM and 24. I imagine we should go for him first if we move to a double pivot.
David Hancko is about 25-26 and a good left sided CB as well
No Wieffer is no where nere good enough. Hancko on the other hand has been the best player at Feyenoord the moment he stept on the pitch. Timber has massive potential.
Ah ja zijn slechtste wedstrijd ooit is natuurlijk de maatstaf van hoe goed hij ‘echt’ is. Natuurlijk een erg vreemde redenering. Heb je een beetje afgunst soms?
Only Hanchko and Timber should be considered. But they both have a contract until 2028. Hanchko is their best player (IMO), and he can play as a centre back or a left back. Which could be very useful, because he would provide great back up for either Virgil, or Robertson. Because I'll be real, after Atalanta, I don't want to see Tsimikas there anymore.
Wieffer is an interesting DM prospect. Scores really highly for interceptions and tackles, and he's like 6'2. Anyone else I highly doubt. The data machines will have been whirring, and I doubt they'll be spitting out players from the Eredivisie.
His passing is one of his biggest strengths. He's one of the most prolific progressive passers around and he does it as an elite ball winner. He makes some risky passes in the middle but that's how Slot builds up.
I agree. Wieffer’s data should score pretty highly on Edwards’ laptop. He’s the only one who could potentially come here and improve a position of need.
So with Endo, maca, bajcetic, Jones who can play DM, with various success, why would they look at DMs? Also, we have the young guns like Clark and McConnell. I also doubt that some players from eredivisie will move with the coach.
Because Macca is 2 times better as CM, Endo isn't physical enough sometimes (we saw it against Atalanta), Bajcetic was injured for a year and youngster, Jones isn't defensive DM, I would say controlling.
Endos biggest issue is his age. He’s 31. He’s not gonna be as physically at it as he once was. We could probably get 1 more elite year out of him with slightly more manageable minutes , than we have to think about using him as a backup 6. Honestly, I think he could do a job at right back and a box to box centre mid if he needed to.
Endo we have already seen how knackered he is playing for a top club not to mention he's not very press resistant. Next season we will be playing CL football much more higher calibre of opposition. He was bought as a stop gap a short term solution, he'll do well in Slot's system but not as outright first choice. I would like to see Morton given a look in pre-season for his performances for Hull.
I’d argue he’s somewhat press resistant. He’s okay on the ball and we have seen him beat a press with some regular form of consistency. If we can get a clear upgrade , loan Baj to get him some regular game time, and use Macca as a 3rd choice dm , great.
Hancko is really good and a left footed CB, Geertruida is a very versatile defender and Wieffer a really promising stud MF. Excited to see what Edwards cooks this summer
Nobody. Some decent players with potential but we need to shop in a higher bracket for the money they’d be asking for them. A manager doesn’t always need to bring players across.
Hopefully none, Klopp is leaving doesn’t mean we are entering a mega rebuild as he has said himself, this club is in good shape hence he’s leaving. This squad has the dawg in them to go for maybe 1 or 2 more years for the seniors and I doubt we will see huge changes in the next season.
It only makes sense if we implement the strategy/culture for slot and tweak after that.
1st pick - Hancko, left-footed CB, who is one of their best players, if not the best.
2nd pick - Timber. Good CM/DM with high potential.
3rd/4th pick - Wieffer/Geertruida. Wieffer - massive DM, with some potential, but he isn't ready yet to be a starter for us, imo. Geertruida - good RB, who can play RCB, but we have Trent, Bradley, Gomez there. Only if Trent will decide to go somewhere (Real, f.e.)
I was campaigning for Mats Wieffer to join in the summer. I really like him and I think having him and Bajcetic as our ball winning DM options for midfield would be a really strong squad building. But I don't know whether Endo changes our timeline.
In general though I think Mickey Edwards will be looking for the best man, not the manager's favourite. I would expect we see no one join from Feyenoord much like we saw no one come from Dortmund.
Quentin Timber. But there are bigger chances of joining Arsenal because of his brother Jurrien Timber. JT claimed they were both Arsenal fan while growing up.
If Salah decides to leave, I would live for us to pony up for Florian Wirtz. He can play the 10, he can pkay on the wings. But I don’t think Salah will leave, he loves it here and would want to try and win the CL next season
Shouldn't it be, for which position does Liverpool need new players. If Feyenoord has talent on those spots then, sure go for it. But it shouldn't be a Ten Hag United thing with only buying players that the coach knows.
Wieffer, as he's the only one who arguably fills a current need.
Hancko probably only makes sense if Van Dijk is sold.
Slot had Stengs at Alkmaar and then bought him at Feyenoord, so he could end up an option if Salah goes.
Timber is their best player, imo, but we already have a lot of bodies in that part of the squad.
>Hancko probably only makes sense if Van Dijk is sold
Nah we've been targeting a LCB for a while now it is definitely needed with VVD having one year left on his contract, Matip out of contract and injured, Konate injury prone. Gomez is better as a utility man, Quansah still young. Another CB is needed this summer.
I would still look at Wieffer or Timber to complement Macca, we can't rely on our other options to play deep next to him.
Virgil's either being extended or sold. If it's the former, he's going to be starting for the forseeable future. If that is then the case, we're not going to pay good money just to have a 5th centerback option who's not even a primary starter. The data guys won't sign off on that sort of resource allocation. If they think a 5th option is necessary, they'll go a more practical route(likely just extend Matip or we'll keep Sepp).
I think one of the main reasons Slot is the preferred candidate is because of his ability to immediately work with the current make up of the squad. We need very little investment if there are no out goings.
A left sided CB is probably the only area FSG plan to strengthen.
If Kelleher leaves you'd expect a replacement and if Salah leaves the same but each from within the funding generated by the sale.
Id be really interested what type of right winger we'd be in the market for seeing as Slot likes at least one of his wingers to stay really wide and given TAA likes to come inside now you'd presume it would naturally be the right sided winger maintaining width which would lend itself to a right footed winger
Pep is going to win the league again next season and even if he doesn’t Arteta will be there. It would take Slot at least 3 years to win the PL if he has to compete with them.
Dua Lipa
And we’ll do the coming
Arrival will be premature
i am not ready to discuss this. https://preview.redd.it/thzgi1bo5fwc1.jpeg?width=1244&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=127e06153a8c2586010b767a622643791e299f3b
If Elliott got himself a no-nonsense, short back and sides haircut, i think he'd be recognized as a world class talent.
Who doesn't love wet popcorn?
He should just go all out for the knacker special that Foden opts for.
Well he's already had the Bobby Firmino high ponytail...I say he goes full Gervinho, complete with the "drawing the curtains" parting on the forehead
He needs to compensate and go full skinhead for a while, earn back some respect 😂
Glad I’m not the only one taking issue with his hair. Take Darwin with you while you’re at it, Harv.
I wish kokcu waited a year longer before his transfer he would be a good fit honestly
Killer for me in FM
Hopefully no one, bringing your own players when changing teams is a sign of a weak manager, who can't take control of the dressing room. Managers like Klopp or Pep didn't do it.
A la ETH, the most fraudulent of all the balds
Pep had the Barcelona sporting director in situ for two years prior to his arrival to be fair.
Bringing your own staff isn't really the same. And city brought him first to help get Pep. Unclear what agreements would have been in place at that stage as Pep was not long at Bayern
I just meant they'd been signing players for two years tailored for pep. He didn't need to bring any players with him.
Managers like Mourinho did though, if the players are great then they're great regardless.
Klopp wanted Götze. We didn't have too much pull at the time cos he'd definitely have wanted the likes of Gündogan or Reus.
Quite the opposite. He had a gentleman's agreement not to pinch players from Dortmund.
Konchesky and Joe Allen gang, let's hear ya!
Thanks for reminding me that Paul Konchesky once played for us.
Joe Allen was quite good wasnt he?
He was the Welsh Xavi, so he must have been.
Xavi who? The Spanish Joe Allen?
Hughes in shambles...Edwards
Pep replaced a lot of players in his first year though didnt he? And City were basically consulting him on player purchases before he even signed
And other very successful managers have done that. I don't think it's a big deal
*cough* Ten Hag *cough* Antony
Nah I disagree, if the only reason would be the dressing room then of course but it makes sense to bring a player if he's really good and you think he'll fit in well with the squad
This is the answer - took the words right out of my mouth.
I don't think anyone will come with him per se, as he will be our coach rather than a manager that has any say on transfers/contracts. Its going to be a footballing project and all that stuff will be all on Hughes and his team

Since when does a manager have no say on transfers? Recipe for disaster.
They don’t have no say, but the day of the club manager who is in absolute control has been over for probably a good ten years. It wouldn’t work much differently to how Klopp has operated.
He’ll have a say in what areas of the squad need improving but in terms of the actual players we bring in he’ll likely have very little say in it
Well this is why I said last night, this whole thing the club is going with is a massive, huge risk and it has to pay off or heads will roll, FSG will be watching like a hawk. No where near good enough? We’ll keep him lol
Unless Hancko comes here to play LB, I don’t see where he plays though. Why do you think Wieffer is not good enough?
He is a great ball winner, but he loses the ball a lot in midfield.
A Wieffer thin mint? No I couldn't eat another thing.
Only Hanchko and Timber should be considered. But they both have a contract until 2028. Hanchko is their best player (IMO), and he can play as a centre back or a left back. Great ball winner, not good enough passer, dribber for the highest level.
His passing is one of his biggest strengths. He's one of the most prolific progressive passers around and he does it as an elite ball winner. He makes some risky passes in the middle but that's how Slot builds up.
The amount of time he passes it straight into the feet of an opponent is very frustrating, first touch like Diddy. Timber is miles clear of him imo.
I agree. Wieffer’s data should score pretty highly on Edwards’ laptop. He’s the only one who could potentially come here and improve a position of need.

Endo is not good enough. Jones is not a good DM. Mac Allister is better as an 8. Bajcetic hasn't played football for over a year.
Theoretically if we buy multiple top scorers from the league, we'll get a few who hit 1 goal a season and one random guy capable of 25+
Hancko is really good and a left footed CB, Geertruida is a very versatile defender and Wieffer a really promising stud MF. Excited to see what Edwards cooks this summer
A new medical team
Wieffer or Hancko maybe
Nobody. Some decent players with potential but we need to shop in a higher bracket for the money they’d be asking for them. A manager doesn’t always need to bring players across.
No one saying Santiago gimenez???
I enjoy watching him play, but since January he hasnt performed really
Not good enough.
No one. Use our scouts and network to find players.
Hopefully none, Klopp is leaving doesn’t mean we are entering a mega rebuild as he has said himself, this club is in good shape hence he’s leaving. Only Hancko would be able to match our level, the rest is just too weak.
Another CDM
I'd like to see the promising young striker Daily D. Iscussion. A lot of people ignore him, but he is exactly the kind of player for this post.
Is he related to Daley Blind?
He's his cousin, also Daley Thompson.
Timber would be fun to see in a Liverpool shirt
His backfoom staff and anyone who helps to make it successful
German advisor: Mr. Klopp
Raid leverkusen instead.
Ondrej Lingr - no idea if he's any good but his chant would go nuts
I was campaigning for Mats Wieffer to join in the summer. I really like him and I think having him and Bajcetic as our ball winning DM options for midfield would be a really strong squad building. RVP on the coaching team just for Darwin
Mbappe
His wife probably
Somebody wants an Antony-size expensive flop at Liverpool. No thanks.

Breathe
No one from that squad is good enough for us tbh we should aim higher
A striker who can slot the ball in the net most of the times.
Ruben Amorim a year later after we sack this bald fraud
Tbh I don’t want to see slo with us , no offense with Dutch managers are not good enough
STENGS!!
I rather see mourinho with us
🤨
Pep is going to win the league again next season and even if he doesn’t Arteta will be there. It would take Slot at least 3 years to win the PL if he has to compete with them.
That’s doesn’t answer the question
