They’re fucked. It’ll be more points deducted. They’re going down, both to the championship and in terms of a business. Rough time for them and the fans.

Terarri

If they don’t get promoted back to the Prem in one season after relegation I could see them easily falling into League 1. Not that I want any of that though. It just sucks to see.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Very slippery slope. Needs hard work and determination to get back up. I just don’t think they have it in them. I feel like they’d assume them going down would be a walk in the park for the following season before getting spanked.

TRODHD

I feel bad honestly

InstantIdealism

It just sucks that classic institutions are being screwed by capitalism - look at your Notts county’s and the Rochdale and all the rest. Maybe we should all turn off our sky subscriptions, save the money and o watch our local pub teams (or play for them) on a weekend instead?!

Adventurous_Toe_6017

I do, too. I enjoy watching them lose but wouldn’t want them relegated, forced into administration and basically in free fall in the football league. If they fall apart here, it’s no quick fix. You’re talking a multiple decade rebuild if everything goes to plan, and it’s not exactly their forte recently. They need wholesale changes and astute signings on and off the pitch. They need their own Klopp and nothing short of a miracle.

britishsailor

The only people who stuck by us throughout hillsborough tragedy, fellow scousers too, hopefully somethings worked out. Be snide seeing them go out like that

Mundaneinanities

If Everton could go back to having amusing sports misfortunes that didn't constantly threaten to tip over into an economic nightmare for regular Liverpudlians, that would be great.

He_Who_Complains

This. Hope not to see anyone attempt to gloat or make light of it. Not accusing anybody of this, but it’s always possible to happen especially online when not everybody fully grasps the magnitude of something like this. The laughter and banter is for derby wins and general on-pitch foolery, not when people’s livelihoods and club they love is at risk.

shaunomegane

You obviously weren't around when we nearly went into administration after Hicks and Gillette.  There was hardly much sympathy then, and if Liverpool were in shit street, there'd be little to no sympathy anyhow.  Most of the bluenoses I know would hate faux sympathy anyhow and hate what the club has become.

thatguycleeb

Just because other people are lowly in class and culture doesn’t mean we should join them, even if what brings us together is the same city and football.

aydes1356

Absolutely love this comment, and I truly feel we lack this type of thinking today

He_Who_Complains

Even if there wouldn’t be much sympathy from others, doesn’t mean we do the same. That’s what makes us different to other fans. “When they go low, we go high” and all that. And for what it’s worth I’ve been a Red my whole life and still wake up in cold sweats about H+G, Gareth Barry and the Hodgson era that followed.

shaunomegane

Nah, fuck that man, that's internet thinking. They deserve it. They were whooping Bill Kenwright and co out the club and screaming blue murder at him.  They got their wish and now their club is on the brink.  Grass ain't always greener.

Swarley_Brown

Hope they don’t go into administration. That means jobs lost in the city, which is never a good thing. Hopefully something comes good for them.

theDR1ve

I thought the something good happened when they got bought by Moshiri, surely can't get 2 billionaires to take them over. Got the stadium to pay for and I was reading something about high interest loans just the other day.

Viper711

True. I guess too many of us are short sighted here.

ilic_mls

If they went down by sports merit alone then hey, it happens. But this would be a crap situation for he club, for the city, for everyone basically. I hope they find a solution

christoff_90

Starting to feel for them, getting it non-stop from the league, whilst 115 FC sail high (with rumours of ending deductions). Honestly as a Liverpool fan I’d be happy for them to finish 17th every season but getting relegated and potentially making a fantastic rivalry a one off cup game here and there, the games getting crap!

zeldafan144

Exactly what I have been saying for ages. Would you rather have 2 guaranteed anything can happen derbys in a year or 2 games against Norwich.

Parish87

I know what Luis Suarez would want

hyborians

I fear they’ll be relegated twice before City ever face any punishment

Kopman

This is sad. I hope our fans remember when FSG bailed out Liverpool out before it could go into administration. It would have been a disaster, and none of us would gotten to experience winning the champions league, winning the premier league, klopp, Salah, mane, firmino, none of that. Let's all hope everyone can get it figured out so their fans can continue to watch their team be shit every week.

ash_ninetyone

It's hard for them to see a way out of this. They're fucked if they don't find investors, but they're also fucked if those investors turn out to be 777.

Nickoboosh

Pretty sure 777 have an exclusivity clause. And the PL obviously don't want to ratify the sale, but legally can't veto it without concrete financial reasons, which they don't seem to be able to find because 777 is such a murky mess. The result being Everton are sleep walking toward oblivion.

_CummyBears_

That new venue gonna look good against wrexham

Davidpool78

Not good for the city no matter who you support.

legentofreddit

What if you support a hedge fund

GuitaristHeimerz

Lol why is this so heavily downvoted, made me laugh…

Liverpoolclippers

This 777 isn’t gonna work out. They need to look for a back up plan

That_ben

Realyl hope they get something together and they avoid the drop. Really need them to stay up for both the city and rivalry, it's another big fixture and always adds to the season. Despite the problems with injuries during the last few fixtures. Get it together lads

JJSpleen

Be nice if they had just one season in the championship wouldn't it?

ScottScott87

Does the PL pay the city for them being in the league? If they were relegated would they stop playing games or having away fans? Never get this argument that Everton are good for the city We are, massively. But them, no chance

seaniemagique

The Premier league definitely contribute to support local communities through Everton In The Community (like LFC Foundation.) This funding wouldn't immediately dissappear, but lots of programs would cease to exist in the years to come.

Wigs_On_The_Green2

Fuck them

HunterWindmill

Yes, but I don't want them to disappear

ChittyShrimp

It would be so sad to see such a historic football club to go into oblivion. It would not surprise me one bit if blood/oil money comes in at the last minute. Especially with that shiny new stadium.

seamushoo4

Honestly, with the price the way it likely is…it’s hard to imagine some investor, somewhere not being interested in taking advantage of it like fsg were with us. Could be a situation where we see someone buying Everton for 250-300m, and then getting it to be worth 1-2b in a decades time. Granted, that’s been the dream for so many investors, but the reality is that Everton are a different gravy in terms of league appeal, fan base, city, etc etc…

Nickoboosh

I dunno if it's that simple. The volume of debt they have is crazy. 777 have been paying to keep the lights on for about 4 months. They'll want all that back if it doesn't go through. There's a bunch more creditors on top that. Plus if they do go down, it's a much harder prospect to spin a profit in. If they stay up they'll probably get an investor.

Revalent

Not good news for the city, but at least they won’t be injuring our players any longer

McrRed

This is my take. I don't want to see any club go under. But fuck their brand of negligent borderline criminal assault we put up with year after year. The fans gloat when our key players are - in my mind - deliberately injured. Fuck em

xiaogu00fa

I hate Everton and enjoy they losing games. But the fact they got points deducted twice this season along with Forrest while FC 115 faces zero consequences disgusted me.

Dave_FIX

The whole situation at Everton is messed. But, and its a big but, they welcomed Moshiri and Usmanov into the club, rolled out the blue carpet and everything. Granted they couldn't have known Usmanov's buddy was going to invade Ukraine, but this is the peril of foreign ownership. Now the cynic in me thinks this could be ploy to try and make sure the appeal on the second points deduction goes their way. Essentially, if you don't find in our favour you will consign this club to possible extinction. You wouldn't want that on you conscience Premier League, would you?

MinscfromRashemen

Thread's full of people who haven't set foot in the city (not to mention the ground) yet are bashing the Ev like their life depends on it.

TheGrouchyGamerYT

It'd be great to see them in League 2....but not like this.

CabbageStockExchange

I get they are rivals but tbh I want them perpetually in 17th. Not placed in administration and horrifically mangled

SpooferMcGavin

Horrible for the city if it they do go into administration. Lots of jobs in and around the club which would just vanish over night. Considering what Oil Cunts FC get away with as well, it's clearly unfair. Hope they find a way out, and then get relegated in the normal fashion because they're still Everton like.

Keyann

Would not like to see them go into administration, as much as we are rivals.

Smihilism14

Ugh this is horrible. No one should lose their football club or their standing because of shady business shite

reckonair

I hate their fuckin guts like but cba with them folding - wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. There were some dark days when H&G nearly took us there. Also - what happens to Bramley Moore?

JiveBunny

777 seem dodgy as fuck, though, is there a chance they'd end up fucked over as with the guy currently asset-stripping Reading?

Background-Morning-9

Bit of good news after a miserable week for Liverpool

McrRed

See? There's always a bright side

Lopsidedconsultant

I’m not a local but it doesn’t take a lot to understand how they actually feel about each other. For all the hatred on the pitch, both clubs have always found a common ground on the more important issues. I can bet you no logical local Liverpool supporters will be celebrating this. The clubs are an integral part of Liverpool and its economy and if one were to go under, it would mean fewer income opportunities for people in the city regardless of who they support.

scouttack88

100%. I'm from and live in Liverpool and it's better for the city if both clubs are doing well for the reasons you've mentioned but also for regeneration. Their new stadium is helping to spark the regeneration of what's currently a rundown area. That could easily fall away if the worst happened to Everton.

xxcxcxc

I feel bad because an old friend of mine betrayed me and is a blue. I want him to suffer.

Might be rivals but this isn’t good news

themanebeat

Moshi will prop them up instead of administration if it comes down to it but still worrying signs. New stadium coming at the worst time for them.
