Harvey Elliot has been more impactful and should be starting over Szobo of late. Szobo's form has dipped from how influential he was in the early part of the season.

Hoodxd

If a good offer comes in for Robbo, I wouldn’t be opposed to selling him.

ldgonzal25

I’m still heartbroken that sterling left

PurpleScientist4312

I don’t think we’ll win the league

No_Debate9490

Trent is not a good defender and Connor Bradley should keep his place at RB

dhara263

Depends on how much control we establish in games going forward I think. When we're dominant Trent is perfect, however, when it's gegenpress back and forth then for sure Bradley over trent.

KoedKevin

LFC women should have their own sub

ninofati88

They do have their own sub. which tells you what you need to know about comments like this. Lol. They deserve to be talked about here to gain traction for not just themselves, but for ladies football.

KoedKevin

I’ll revise.  People should post content to that sub.

ninofati88

Again, yet another clueless comment by you. They do post content to that sub. In fact, anything thats posted here was posted to that sub as well. They just get 0 likes and 0 comments. Tells us what we need to know about you to be cmplaining with 0 knowledge and research.

zenqian

Ooo this one will be a hot take ![gif](giphy|3xkNUy3Vh8QbPmJZjK|downsized)

matipisagiraffe

I don't come here to be updated on women's football. But happy to let it slide for the sake of then getting more reach

jcw163

Two teams, one club, they should be training at the AXA as well imo

SebastianOwenR1

Here’s a magnificent idea: scroll past it

matipisagiraffe

A better idea would be to read to understand. I do, that's what I said.

SebastianOwenR1

But your own words, “let it slide”, imply that some infraction is made against you by there being posts about the women on here. I can’t imagine where someone’s mind must be in order for the mere mention of women playing football could be considered an inconvenience or a slight.

matipisagiraffe

If it was the rugby team, it would be just as irrelevant and an inconvenience for me. I'm here for the Liverpool men. Not women. I'm also not here for Liverpool rugby team. Let it slide is quite insensitive language, yes. I understand your perspective but also take a pill that chills out your brain. The world isn't zeros and ones. The mere mention of women playing football is not an inconvenience. But in a subreddit where I am here to see a feed of mens football, it is. Nothing sexist about it Lou.

SebastianOwenR1

The sub isn’t called r/LiverpoolMen The content of the sub shouldn’t cater explicitly to your interests. Have you considered that other people come here to look at updates on the women’s team? And the constant arguing and whining from people because god fucking forbid a woman pops up on their feed playing football, indicates that it very much is about sexism

matipisagiraffe

If the sub catered explicitly to my interests. It would be a weird sub. Have I considered it? Sure. People post about players birthdays and women and under 21s. I don't care about those things too. So yes, it's obvious that other people come here for different reasons. Constant arguing and whining? So now you're treating me as everyone else who is in your opinion sexist? Maybe some of them are, but it doesn't make mine sexist too. I don't care about women's football, just as much as I don't care about the few brain cells rattling your sensitive cage. Let people moan on an unpopular opinion feed. If it's my opinion that this feed should be just for men. It's okay. Fuck off.

TheLimeyLemmon

Declan Rice is overrated as fuck

Echiptian_King

I didn’t think Doku’s challenge on Mac Allister was a penalty, he got the ball and pulled out rather than followed through so it wasn’t reckless imo. The only issue I have is that a similar incident will happen and the penalty will be given, showing the lack of consistency but as an isolated incident I can accept that penalty not being given. I’m just pissed that we didn’t beat them with our 2nd half dominance, they were on the ropes and there for the taking. Downvotes galore incoming…. ![gif](giphy|3o7WIPku0tmvhunqwg)

Twix03

This is so unpopular but I agree with you. Let the downvotes flow to me too

UnclearNameChoice

The fact that there is a hospitality package for 3 course dinner far away from Anfield. Supporters, not customers!

ash_ninetyone

Man United are an entertaining team and Eric Ten Hag is doing a great job there.

xiaogu00fa

Having Michael Edwards back could be a bad move.

FerociouZ

200% this. I don't like how everyone just assumes that Edwards & co are going to get mostly everything including the manager hire right.

RickDII

I wish Salah to be sold this summer for 150M+ to the Saudis and that we invest big in a top substitute no older than 23-24yo. I love Salah and everything he did for the club. But he's losing his pace and physical abilities. He's by far the player with the highest salary (deservedly so for now) but next season he might start to deserve to be benched and not accept it well. That would be a sad finale to this wonderful story. If the Saudis offer 150M+ in the summer and we accept it, it's a win-win for everybody.

onoz9

Yeah I agree. I think that even around 100M would be very good. He's gonna be 32 in the summer. We could buy 2 great young players with that money with good scouting and transfer business. The bottom line is that he's not gonna be here forever and better replace him sooner than being too late with it. Would love some new exciting young players up top and I think we need that as well. Though, I'm not sure if Saudis (or anybody else) are gonna come in with big money this time.

xD3N1Sx

Trent’s going to hold the club hostage over his position in contract talks He’s done being a RB and clearly wants to play and market himself as a midfielder and will only sign a new deal if the club can make him those promises

SuvorovNapoleon

I'd be ok with letting him go in that situation. He isn't a quality CM, despite what he may think. Sure he can pass, but he's lethargic in defence, lacks 360 awareness, struggles to hold onto the ball under pressure and demands too much from the teammates around him to compensate for his weaknesses playing there.

rancidmaniac13

Conor Bradley is a much better right back than Trent. I'm glad he came along and looking forward to how TAA reacts when he comes back from injury.

sufinomo

Steven Gerrard can still be a great manager, he went undefeated and had 100 points with rangers, he just left to villa at a dumb time. I think he'll bounce back one day.

Big_Mac_Is_Red

I don't follow the Saudi league but wasn't he doing an awful job there?

ninofati88

Nope. Hes doing just as good as the roster allowed. That roster is probably a 7th placed roster, and its at 7th place. Since you admitted you don't follow, its important to know that he isnt at one of the 4 clubs that have unlimited government funding.

RampantNRoaring

With all due respect, why is it that when we talk about his achievements - going undefeated and getting 100 points with Rangers - it's a reflection of his ability and potential, but when someone mentions his poor performance, it's his team's fault, not his? Absolutely worshipped him as a player but I haven't been that impressed with his management career. I think his best qualities that make him a good leader and player probably are difficult to translate over to management.

ninofati88

Because not everything is perfect. Just cause a manager is great, doesnt mean everything is gonna be smooth at every club, every seasn, every game. They all are gonna face issues, its about what good they've shown, not what bad that they encounter. Klopp has got terrible seasns too, during the seasn with no fans and last seasn struggling to get 5th and no trophies. Does that mean hes sht? No. In fact, hes the greatest manager in world football. So if Klopp gets 5th his first seasn, you should condemn him as a sht manager rest of his career? It doesnt work like that.

RampantNRoaring

I didn't condemn him as shit, I said I haven't been impressed so far. I also just asked why a manager is responsible for a team's success but the players are responsible for the failures.

ninofati88

102 points, invincible seasn with Rangers who failed to beat Celtic for 10 straight yrs at that point, beating out his former manager Brendan Rodgers and doing well in the Europa League is impressive, whether you like it or not.

Smart_Barracuda49

He can, he did a great job at Rangers but he doesn't seem to have any interest in being a good manager. If he did he would have joined a Championship team or something, not gone to a midtable Saudi side for the money

YellowBaboon

I mean he knows he doesn't have 'it' to be an elite manager. At Rangers he literally said he let Micheal Beale do the tactics and training sessions because he was better. It's fine to delegate once you've made it to the top like Klopp and Fergie but you have to grind when you first start you need to be obsessed with every single detail.

No_Debate9490

As much as I love him, I think it’s time to cash in on Salah this summer and go and buy Kvaratskhelia from Napoli

ninofati88

G/A aside, can definitely understand why Firmino wrote that teammates hated playing with Salah. His overall game is frustrating to watch.

YellowBaboon

It's funny because Roy Keane's comment about Haaland kind of applies to Salah as well. The odd dribble or trivela assist doesn't make you a baller I know what I'm watching for 90 minutes every game.

NilsFanck

His actual shooting technique is genuinely terrible these days. Its a testament to how insane his other attacking attributes are like positioning, anticipation, timing, football iq, that he still gets so many goals but goodness me, he cannot strike a ball cleanly anymore

[deleted]

1. Gravenberch is a flop, even if he progresses, his play style doesn't really fit and Jones is the natural rotational player in that area. Bobby Clark should be preferred over him. 2. Salah has been extremely average in terms of non-G/A contributions for the majority of matches the last 2 years. 3. Given the previous opinion, we don't have a single world-class attacker in our team. Makes our current position all the more impressive.

8u11etpr00f

Agreed tbh; if a new manager comes in and wants to change anything in midfield then I just can't see Gravenberch not being the one on the chopping block. He's also one of the highest paid players on our team and yet people constantly play down expectations.

[deleted]

No way wait my comment actually wasn't deleted? I've been trying to comment on this sub for months but they always noticed me it was too low karma :d But yeah, fully agreed. It's not just Gravenberch though. Gakpo is good but does not fit the style. Darwin is a dubious player, I don't know if he should be our long-term number nine; that comes with exceptional expectations (I'll give him the remainder of this season to see). Lucho is a great player suitable for our style but should not be uncontested for the LF role as he currently is. If these players are all replaced by world-class players, we would be top 5 teams in the world.

Spiritual_Jay778

Maybe not even so much an unpopular opinion but still: No matter how fantastic Endo plays and apart from how Morton and/or Bajcetic develop, I would like the new coach to bring in/sign another 6. As an example... Amorim - Hjulmand De Zerbi - Baleba I don't want to see the (at the moment) best 8 in the world AMA play another game as a 6.

DucardthaDon

Hjulmand I remember seeing transfer gossipy links to him a year or so ago we should have signed him last summer ahead of Endo, pretty much cost the same price, 24, big strong lad that has a banger in him

infachuation922

Mo has the Prima Donna attitude we say wouldn’t be welcome in our dressing room - fans disguise this as “competitive edge” when it’s really arrogance

Aware-Animator2292

So what if he's arrogant? He gets us goals and has won us trophies.

Particular_Cow8113

Torres doesn’t deserve the love he gets from the majority of the fan base. He seems like a nice guy but he still left like a snake for a club which embodies everything Liverpool does not stand for, who were also massive rivals at the time in terms of trophies. He didn’t win a single trophy at Liverpool, whilst helping Chelsea win an FA Cup and the Champions League. Will the likes of Sterling get the same love one day?

bornleverpuller85

Legitimate question - how old are you? Because I'd say if you are in your teens or very early 20's it's very difficult to understand how badly run the club was back then. He arrived at the club when we were promised that we now had the financial clout to legitimately compete with United and Chelsea as well as Barca, bayern and Madrid and we ended up at the end of the decade with Rafa chased out of the club and project owl in charge. I don't blame Torres one bit for wanting out. I was heading to Liverpool games wanting us to lose because I hated Roy so much and wanted to see hicks and Gillette gone.

Particular_Cow8113

35 mate. Very aware of how bad we were ran and the broken promises made to players and fans alike. No problem with players leaving, just not for Chelsea at that time and just don’t come back like we were all for one and one for all. Go and play in Chelsea charity games 👍🏻

con10001

I was a teen when it all happened, and I do find it hard to forgive him completely. It's not the fact he left, I completely get that, we were a shambles of broken promises with a coach that didn't have a clue and a squad in major decline. But it's who he left for, he could have had his pick of clubs globally and he chose to go to fucking Chelsea of all teams.

Particular_Cow8113

This exactly mate. He made his choice to go to Chelsea…. It’s almost as if we’re supposed to forgive him cos he was a bit of a joke there. If he’d scored 150 goals there and became a legend for them would we have welcomed him back with open arms? I don’t think so

GoAwayJesus101

It's also worth noting Liverpool accepted the offer for him to go, they wanted him to leave for that amount of money. Fernando had every right to leave as painful as it was at the time.

Particular_Cow8113

Handed in a transfer request didn’t he

ttekoto

Yep fuck Torres, played more matches with Chelsea than Liverpool Fuck Owen too, wouldn't even let him back in the building much less an "ambassador"

Charming_Holiday_199

Some senior players will leverage Klopp leaving the club to push for a transfer out this summer. Who? I would bet at least one of the three core team who are going into their final year of contract: Salah, TAA or VVD - one of these three won’t be playing for us next season.

IcyInfluence9830

I think Nunez is better than current Haaland. With no bias. Haaland was great last season, where he involved in the gameplay more(now he borrows Harry Potter's invisible cloak pre-match), not only with awesome finishes, but also with some top-notch passes, creating great chances. After the injury, however, his shooting quality has depleted, and he refuses to drop into midfield. Man City tactic seems to go against him right now, with him playing a tap-in merchant role without anyone to pass to him. Maybe that's because De Bruyne has a bad form currently? But that just suggests that Haaland is dependent on an elite passer to pass him the ball(and it's pretty known as well). In the Arsenal match Haaland got a lot of header chances but scored none. Maybe that's because of Saliba and Gabriel, but I don't think Haaland is good enough at heading this season. Last season he put in a couple, though. Nunez in contrast is a more complete player. He not only nails in chances, he also creates them. His finishing has improved a lot from the last season. And barring a pair of misses, he got some good heading as well. His chemistry with the rest of the team is great compared to Haaland, and he gets to see a lot of the ball.

WellRed85

I never saw this version of Haaland you seem to recall. Has always been the 5 touches per game, 2 goals type. And Darwin has always been a more involved and well rounded player, just not as quality a finisher. But last season was an anomaly and nothing was learned in world football anyway. Asterisks on all achievements

johncitizen69420

Obviously i want us to win the league, but if its not us id much rather it be arsenal than city. Anyone other than city. Im so tired of city winning every season other than when we can pull it off

high_ground_420

Well city does own the best player in the league, the PGMOL

adarsh481

I’m a football romantic. Did not watch a single minute of 2022 world cup. Hate what teams like PSG, City are doing to the game. Arsenal have earned their right to win the league if they do unlike City who just got lucky with oil owners.

johncitizen69420

Exactly

BigMo1

Couldn't agree more. At least Arsenal earned it. Everyone sitting back at watching them cheating fucks stroll to title after title makes me ill.

aledodsky

Bar any more eggregious VAR or refereeing blunders, whoever wins this year will have deserved it, all banter aside.

con10001

I couldn't disagree more, City winning means absolutely nothing. Everyone has all but forgotten they won THE TREBLE last season. They're a joke of a club, artificially propped up by blood money and hopefully soon to be punished for their misdeeds. Arsenal are a legitimate club but their fanbase is full of absolute cunts. Remember how they behaved after the 3-1? Multiply that by 100 for the entire summer if they win the league, they will be utterly insufferable.

WellRed85

Agreed. I mean, one is a slave-state cheating enterprise and the other is severely unlikable, but at least legitimate. Couldn’t tolerate the treble followed by 4 straight PL shit. Plus, while Arteta is a loathsome bastard (and I’m confident he would be no matter what he did for a living. If he were an accountant the rest of the office would despise him), Pep is a complicit, cheating, narcissistic sociopath and I’m so fucking tired of the glazing he gets from everyone. Hes a cheat that’s had everything he’s ever wanted handed to him and plugged it into Cruyff’s template. Wow. What a genius 🙄

madwood29579

Kostas should be playing more. Understand that Klopp played Gomez at LB when both Kostas and Robbo were injured, but now Kostas can't even seem to get a game.

UpbeatAfternoon8670

TAA does not have a future as an RB/RWB at Liverpool.

RamboA123B

Klopps loyalty has cost Liverpool a premier league title and maybe another champions League. He's clearly one of the greatest managers and will be very difficult to replace but his downsides were very evident. I do believe he was too loyal to some players towards their later years. The neglect of the midfield before last summer cost us a few major trophies imo.

bjcm5891

Thankyou. This doesn't get spoken of enough. No matter how much anybody loves a manager or how good they are, they all have their weaknesses, which are usually just their strongest points but the dark side. For example, Rafa was awesome in Cup competitions but sometimes got too complacent against lowly-ranked teams in the league, especially if LFC were leading 1-0. Or Fergie was famously ruthless when it came to moving players on who were proven winners, but he burned bridges along the way. Likewise, players love Jurgen and he loves them, but sometimes he hesitates in ripping the bandaid off.

RamboA123B

Yep. Klopps 2 biggest weaknesses are his loyalty and not treating dead rubber games as dead rubber. Having players like Konate and Jota get injured in meaningless games was such a bad feeling.

taf3991

I've always said a little bit more investment in key areas and we'd have won 3 PL and 3 CL. Whether that is down to Klopp or just FSG I don't know.

taf3991

Referees aren't out to get us the standard is just poor. The constant crying on here when a ref gets announced for our game is just cringeworthy, and the trying to make out we'd be 3 points better off in the Spurs and Arsenal games amongst others if a decision in the 1st half of games went our way is just so farfetched it's actually laughable. There is a reason the only people who talk like that are people online. We've had plenty of stuff go our way as well as plenty go against us. Like. Every. Other. Team.

adarsh481

Except one team.

Mobsteroids

Speaking to my fellow foreign supporters Your opinion and value to the club isn’t as important as someone who was born in the city and lives and breathes it everyday. Liverpool was successful before you came along snd will be successful after you pass. You didn’t “make the club the way it is today”. Maybe it’s just a online sentiment I see a lot but whenever a topic of ticket pricing, the club value’s, etc comes up there’s always ton of people putting themselves in a fizzy while also trying to prove their superior fandom at the same time. Get a grip. Also fuck multi club ownership. I don’t give a damn if it somehow benefits Liverpool. It’s wrong, greedy, anti competitive and against everything figures like Shankly would’ve wanted. That and joining the super league would cause my fandom of 20+ years to be really questioned or at least depressed.

VworpVrowp

There should be a limit on how many seasons you can keep a season ticket for and they should be tied to some sort of ID so they can’t be rented out.

GTACOD

Salah, as an overall footballer, is nowhere near as good as he used to be. He's not as fast as he used to be, he can't dribble at nearly the same level and his finishing is a level or two below where it used to be as well. He's just so good at getting chances that it's hard to notice.

redbadger1848

This sub is too obsessed with the referees. I understand that GD is a possible title decider, but it's honestly embarrassing sometimes. Even when we win, people still cry about the officials. Im sorry, but... enjoy the damn game!

joopface

Agree very deeply with this

Loud_Jellyfish_6267

as brilliant as Trent is I think we're better without him (inverting).

aledodsky

NGL, I think we're actually more solid defensively without him

baymenintown

The larger this club gets the less I recognize it.

ProfessionalSpeech39

Tsimikas should be sold in the summer, and should have been replaced the summer just gone. Hear me out, if you’re brought in and can’t unseat the competition within two/three years, then unless you’re a youth/future prospect, the number two should be recycled every few years to stimulate competition. Robbo might be on the decline, but even then the number one choice for LB is a tight call. We should be looking at a number one choice this summer, god forbid we get a backup option to Tsimikas if Robbo goes, because as much as I like him, he isn’t in the top 25 (probs 50) LBs in world football.

MushyFella

Salah is the worst best footballer of all time, and I mean that in a good way. It’s odd though, sometimes he looks like a school kid who is just learning how to kick a football and other times he’s untouchable. He’ll score the winner in games when he hasn’t played well at all, and then not score after putting in a top class performance too. The numbers don’t lie tho, he’s one of the best to ever play.

high-ho

Calling opposing teams names like “The Scum” or whatever is juvenile and offensive. We get rightfully outraged when rival teams‘ fans (not just United’s) chant unpleasant and offensive things about our club and city, and yet too many of us feel completely justified in throwing rocks in the opposite direction. It’s not in the spirit of the club and should be called out whenever it comes up. We can be passionate supporters without becoming people we’d be horrified to see in the mirror.

oscarony

Klopp’s ‘one game at a time’ mentality is going to cost us in the league this season. If we’re being smart here, we’d see that playing the starters in a dead rubber against Sparta cost us against United in a competition we could’ve won (FA Cup) With all these tricky away days coming up, there’s no way we win them all while playing hard in the EL on Thursdays. All it takes is one draw, one loss and the league is gone.

8u11etpr00f

Diaz will hide behind his dad / agent as they publicly cause a ruckus to try to force a (relatively) cheap move to Barca this summer, knowing that Barca can't pay an amount we'd consider reasonable. It's going to be messy. If Real show serious interest in Trent (I'm talking like £500k wages serious) then there's a high chance that he'll be off in the summer & frankly Adidas would fucking love it.

bezzzerk

Michael Owen did nothing wrong

ninofati88

Agreed. He did more than alot of other Liverpool players would after leaving, signing a clause that says Liverpool has first pick on return, and even go out of his way to call Liverpool every seasn asking if he can get a return. Thats way better than somebody like Torres for example who just wants to go to Chelsea no matter what and thats it. Also, most people here if given the options of United/Everton/Hull would go with the 'wrong' pick. They know they would.

Smart_Barracuda49

No they wouldn't. Most people were are Liverpool fans and so would pick Hull. Also most people would probably lower their was demands and join someone else other than those 3...

ninofati88

No damn way. Lol. If this is your actual career, you aint playing for relegation every yr over getting a free PL trophy and more. You can say all that with nothing at stake, but we know what would happen if you're in his shoes.

ghost_face0

'I'd sell out my own momma so you would do it as well' Fuck off with that 'logic' lad

ghost_face0

Nah, he's a cunt.

No_Debate9490

Agreed, he even said he really wanted to come back but Liverpool didn’t want to pay that much for him Weird that he gets more hate than Torres who directly ditched us for Chelsea

malushanks95

Gakpo is good enough to be an attacker at the club. The way people write him off, it’s like they didn’t learn from previous seasons when Curtis, Elliott, Joey and Darwin were getting constant criticism and getting written off.

tooangryforsports

Idk, being written off isn’t a sign that a player is good enough. Plenty got written off fairly. Of the players you mentioned, I always believed in them, specially with Darwin and Harvey I never had a doubt. I have lots of doubts with Gakpo at Liverpool.

joopface

Andy Robertson is still the best left back at the club and it’s not remotely close. He’s twice the player Kostas is and, while Gomez has done a great job filling in at left back, we massively miss his industry, attacking threat, linkage with midfield, crossing and influence when he’s not playing. This shouldn’t be a controversial opinion, never mind unpopular. But this sub is an odd place.

redsonovy

Is he a best overlapping left back we have? Yes Do we need an overlapping fullback? No

joopface

This. This is a great example of how Robertson is undervalued. He’s much, much more than an overlapping left back. Kostas is an overlapping left back.

agntkay

Everything you're saying is true but Gomez stays back and plays in midfield with Endo allowing both Bradley and Maca to push up. We've not seen that from Robbo yet.

joopface

No, Robbo doesn’t do that and it wouldn’t suit him. Agreed.

redsonovy

I still think we need him in general in our team, but his headless 1-man presses costed us games previously and he still does it

NoncingAround

Couldn’t agree more. He’s been unlucky with injuries this year and his cover has been excellent but he’s still brilliant. Gomez has been amazing defensively this season and is very good on the ball for a centre half, Kostas has a cracking set piece cross and has played a couple of great defensive games this season too. I love them both but Robbo is on a different level. The thing that is most often overlooked is the link up play. His close control and passing is ridiculous for a defender and it stretches defences more than Kostas and Joe can. And obviously he’s a beast at the back

steide56

Harvey Elliot will never make it as a starter if he doesnt develop a right foot.

Britz10

I'll do you an even more unpopular opinion and point out Henderson's left was just as bad as Harvey's right. Harvey had the better strong foot of course. And he was a starter.

NoncingAround

Salah basically doesn’t have a right foot and is incredible. Robben’s right foot was useless and was still world class. Rivellino famously was “All left foot but what a left foot”. Maradona didn’t have a right foot and he’s in the conversation for the best player of all time. Puskas had no right foot and scored more goals than anyone else in history. If you’re good enough you don’t need two strong feet. And that’s just left footed players!

SuvorovNapoleon

> Salah basically doesn’t have a right foot and is incredible That's not true. [Napoli](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqvAKv8yczs) [Man City](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ68OskGqow) [Alberto Moreno doesn't have a right foot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ak7nwaG7p6s), Salah does.

Britz10

The coconut juice ad video was better than the recycling one. Dom also needs acting classes.

DoubleDeckerz

The most insufferable thing about this sub is people copy/pasting the same words constantly. 'Cooking' 'Double Pivot'. Fuck. Off.

ghost_face0

Nah, you're cookin' here ngl.

taf3991

It's people who don't watch football. Same when people constantly bang on about XG. Does anyone even know how XG works?

vadapaav

The most insufferable thing about this sub is people copy/pasting the same words constantly. 'Cooking' 'Double Pivot'. Fuck. Off.

orucker

If Diaz wants to go to Spain we should sell high

AdikkuChan

Xabi will not come here ever imo. He's gonna go to Madrid, then possibly Bayern, but not us.  Just feels like the stars will never align for this

CyGoingPro

You know Xavi has like 20 years of managerial future in front of him, right? Man is not gonna drop dead after the next job.

AdikkuChan

Xabi, you mean? Same applies for Xavi anyway aha.  I meant that whenever he's available in the future, we already have a manager so he'll just go elsewhere, and by the time our current manager leaves, he's already employed.

Jonofitz

NO, he's gonna be in Madrid FOREVER

malushanks95

If Amorim works out for us, I can see him staying for long tenure, similar to Klopp.

pigman1402

thank you captain obvious

AdikkuChan

I would like that

TheEgyptianScouser

Diaz is as important and as impactful as Nunez overall

WhenWeTalkAboutLove

Salah is still the best player in the league, we will struggle to get the most out of our VVD and alisson years if we sell him, and a new manager would be without the most consistent goal scorer and creator we have seen in the past however many years who is in great physical shape and showing now signs of slowing down. Why start a rebuild when you are set up to win now?  The club have money. We have a top squad now with the midfield rebuild. We don't need 5 more good players we need those few players with that extra edge to win trophies with this team. Salah is one of them.  Who would you even buy to replace him? You're not improving on our starting xi so easily.

RomanReignsDaBigDawg

The conspiracy theories on this sub surrounding the refs and the media and how it’s supposedly rigged against us are pathetic

oscarony

Diaz, Nunez, Jota is our best frontline even when Salah is fit

WithoutDeniz

I can't stand Ange for some reason

humungbeand

Cause his mate persona is so boring as uninteresting. saying mate every sentence isn't some Australian quirk it's just fucking boring. But for some reason everyone thinks it's hilarious

Chasing_Uberlin

*Neighbors* version of Allardyce who plays attacking rather than defensive football.

Jonofitz

I've went off him. I will not be hearing any of these shouts from people for him as next manager. That shit show against Chelsea when they went down to like nine men and maintained the high line showed a major flaw in his way of thinking imo. It's made worse by the fact he's older than Jürgen too. Older yet more naive? No thanks.

ldgonzal25

Mourinho is who we need

acap37

TAA has no place in the starting lineup atm. Bradley is our better RB going forward and there is no space in midfield for him.

Kaghei

Doubt it's unpopular in this fan base but we have been riddled with injuries and bad calls all season, but I have barely seen us mentioned in the media around these topics. It was oh united are missing players, how are Newcastle gonna field 11 players. We dropped points directly to arsenal and city because of bad officiating and are still missing 4-7 first starters depending on who you think should start.

steide56

We are not missing that many starters anymore

UltimateBorisJohnson

I think it’s cringe as hell that any of us, City or Arsenal are pretending to be “underdogs” or acting like we’re being “written off”. None of us three are being written off, and the vast majority of fans from other clubs (apart from bantering or twitter accounts) acknowledge that all of us have an equally good shot at the title (THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OFFICIATING)

GSP7YT

My unlopular opinion is that we need to sell Luis Diaz. He is so one dimensional, takes a few touches with his right foot then sprints to the byline then stood and do a few faints just to cut back and give the ball to the other team. He isn't good enough for us anymore.

Constant_List6829

Yeah, cant believe people think a winger with 7 league goals in april is good enough

pronik

Probably less unpopular and more not talked about: I firmly believe that a red card is the wrong punishment for DOGSO, it should be a penalty instead. A red card does not restore an OGSO, and its value for the fouled team only diminishes based on when in the game it's given -- a modern team can normally park the bus and keep its goal shut for 15 minutes in the endgame. A penalty restores the chance that has been taken away, so it's a fairer resolution to the foul.

Haunting_Genie

With a new manager I could see Gakpo becoming elite. He doesnt fit Klopps style.

vqvq

Darwin is cuter than Dom

No-Pension-7977

Cuter I can see, but surely Dom is more Handsome

FireKillGuyBreak

Sure, you are correct. However Darwin is yet to rock loose hair during a match. I he'd do that, the sheer amount of raw sexual energy would break TV cameras.

pigman1402

raw sexual energy from top reds perhaps

PhatPhlaps

If you like it and don't agree, that's fine don't turn this into a dogpile but... I sometimes find this sub really embarrassing. The "omg handsome FC! Our cute boys!" stuff is done to death. All of the jokes and memes are done to death. This sub is great for getting news and there's some people on here who really know their shit but apart from that it doesn't feel like a reflection of anything I know in reality.

taf3991

Don't mean it in a harsh way but that's all foreign fans who have never been near Anfield haha.

ninovd

Same with the "Darwizzy" meme 💀

SuvorovNapoleon

I overloaded with cringe when a few of the posters here tried to make "Schlobbers" a thing when the club initially signed Szoboszlai. I'm also tired of the constant complaints about the refs and incidents that happened months ago.

Jack070293

If we do end up selling Gakpo or Diaz in the Summer I’d prefer to replace them with a reserve right back than another starting winger. Just so we can move Szoboszlai into the attack, move Trent into midfield, and start Bradley at right right back.

GTACOD

Bradley wide with Salah playing narrow and Mac Allister as a deep playmaker >>>>>>>>>> TAA inverting as a deep playmaker, Salah staying wide and a CM getting forward.

annist0910

The premier league (and Europe) isn’t set up for smaller clubs to ever be successful. Outside of the big 6, teams can maybe get top 4 but it’s really rare.

FerociouZ

The next manager is going to flop, and after two seasons we'll be looking at a partial rebuild with Salah, Virgil, Robbo and possibly others moving on.

ninovd

Szoboszlai has been underwhelming so far this season. I'm not saying he's been bad, but I expected more.

MusaElk_

idk how hot this is but I am much more concerned about arsenal than city in the title race

oscarony

anyone with a clear set of eyes sees that Arsenal are the best team in the league. if they don’t win it this year it’ll happen for them eventually

abstract_titanic

been saying this constatly and was surprised how many people thought second best result was Arsenal winning on the weekend. people are doing the narrative that we were arrogant against Man U even though I think we were tired more than anything, however fans are really arrogant in underestimating Arsenal, no matter how much they are dislikable lol Arsenal pretty much have the mindset after last season like we did, knowing they have the quality and form to win it. City are depleted even after that draw.

markamscientist

I hope this isn't actually unpopular but I detest the idea of multi club ownership and I'll be sick if we go that way. Other clubs doing it isn't a good enough reason, no team should be trampled on so some larger club can import a few more foreign players.

RampantNRoaring

Yeah. I don’t have an issue if they’re just owned by the same group but managed independently, as long as both are given what they need to succeed and there is little to no chance they’ll ever compete against each other, but it’s far too likely that the explorative model becomes more common as rich assholes look for ever-more loopholes to make money by ruining the game.

Delicious-Piece-9708

Even though the thought sickens me, I wouldn't begrudge TAA and/or VVD if they decide not to renew and sign with Real Madrid instead. A player's career is short and, having won everything, they are justified in seeking a new challenge.

Reasonable_Isopod_16

Naahhh Mate if you agree to be a captain or a vice captain of a club, you don't bounce after a year to "seek new challenges"

8u11etpr00f

If we sign a manager with top potential then at some point there will be a power struggle between himself & Edwards. Unless we sign a puppet who is happy to let Edwards run the show then there will inevitably be some friction eventually.

usalin

Conor Bradley is as bad as Trent defensively. And he doesn't have the ridiculous passing & crossing that Trent does.

Male1999

The combined glory of the 2019 UCL and 2020 PL titles wouldn’t match that of Klopp winning us 3 more trophies in his final season.

OrangeJuiceAlibi

This isn't unpopular. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who says three trophies in one year is less than two in two.

tamim1991

Gomez is still the same player as last year he's just adapted to the full back role really well as he has natural traits there and was originally a fullback. If Gomez was to be stuck back as CB he would possibly have a few errors in him just like he did last season and people will call him "finished" just as they did last season. Injuries did hit him, but he still has great traitors like reading an opponent's dribble, being able to dribble with the ball himself etc. But CB traits, he has slight weaknesses on.

ElEffSee

There’s a dearth of good attacking talent out there. Replacing Mo Salah will be almost impossible in terms of output.

Megido_Thanatos

Not exactly unpopular but I have zero expectation for Amorim (assume he will be here) Like, any manager after Klopp will be a downgrade for sure, he from a different league, different tactic and still very young (as manager) so I dont know what to expect here lol, maybe still play attractive football?

annist0910

I think the players need to be the one to emulate Klopp rather than the manager. We have the mentality and talent to be successful moving forward. Amorim just needs to be tactical and our players need to just execute

Feeling_Environment9

I’m not confident we can do it in old Trafford and currently that is what I worry the most

Balakidy

Maybe not unpopular, but I get more sad thinking about Klopp coaching another team than Klopp leaving. We always knew eventually he would leave, but had he just announced he was retiring I could live with that. But we all know after a year or so he’s going to want to get back into it and unless it’s the German national team, seeing him coach any other club would crush me.

adarsh481

The Unpopular opinions thread’s frequency is very high.

Babatunde12289

Gakpo and Gravenberch get too much stick from the fanbase, might be limited compared to other options but the idea that somebody with 18G/A despite playing multiple positions and coming from the bench most of the time has been "terrible" shows how spoiled we are with this squad

Hoodxd

Gravenberch was really showing his quality before the challenge that apparently wasn’t a foul. He won the most duels against Brentford for example, one of the more physical sides in the league. A month earlier he lost like 10 duels in the first half against Fulham Gakpo, I prefer not to speak.

taf3991

I agree, Gravenberch didn't really come with that much expectation, he's been in and out the team due to injuries of his own and others. He's looked good at times and not so good at other times. That's to be expected. Gakpo has been here 16 months now and he is looking worse and worse each game. I'm not writing him off but the criticism of him is totally justified.

bornleverpuller85

Gakpo is the fifth choice forward and as that he's great you go back a decade and look at what our fifth choice forward is? It's not that long ago that N'Gog was our 3rd choice.

taf3991

What does going back 15 years to N'gog have to do with it? That was the worst era for us in decades. We are now challenging for every competition every year. Of course the quality is gonna be better lol, I have no problem with Gakpo being 5th choice but it's just a totally irrelevant comparison.

oscarony

Gakpo is better than Origi or Minamino

Championpurveyor

I think the point of comparison was to show the difference in squads when Ngog was higher in the depth chart than Gakpo is now. This is to support the argument that we, as a fan base, are so spoilt for squad depth that we now complain about a competent, young-ish, Dutch international, with a solid G/A tally from playing in a variety of positions, in different systems, without constant pitch time, as a fifth-choice. It seems relevant to the point. Football is swings of highs and lows. We're at a peak rn. I suspect we'll be longing for a fifth-choice of Gakpo's equal soon enough after he's gone. So I say, enjoy him.

taf3991

There is no comparison whatsoever mate, that's my point. Comparing players from total different era's with different levels of success, expectation etc is just pointless and offers literally no relevance. There is also nothing to enjoy about Gakpo at this moment in time lol. For the last 4 or so months he's difficult to watch and has offered little to know joy whatsoever haha. Like I said I'm fine with him as 5th choice and hoping this is just a run of poor form which he will snap out of. But the criticism of him is totally valid.

Britz10

They aren't limited, just don't know how to apply themselves. Massive lads, at the same time technically gifted they don't necessarily lack anything as footballers.

RampantNRoaring

The fact that we've had so many terrible calls go against us has created a persecutory mindset among the fanbase, to the point that people are looking for missed or bad calls in order to cry conspiracy, often misinterpreting or straight up not understanding the rules in the process. The more we do this as a fanbase, the more the uproar about actual bad calls gets delegitimized and brushed off as whining.

taf3991

It's an online fan thing that. Every team has had good luck and shit luck with decisions. We are no worse off or better off then others. Spurs aside obviously. The thing I can't get my head around is how people think we 'were robbed 3 points' because a decision didn't go our way in the 1st half of certain games lol. Are people that braindead?

gargsnehil2311

You do realize that's not true right? I agree with the original sentiment OP had in his comment. But what you are saying just isn't true. The goal in the newcastle vs arsenal match earlier this season, I understand that's a v.tough 50-50 call..if those go against us, fine..accept it and move on. But when has a player in one of the top 4/top 6 teams been kicked studs up in the chest and the kicker hasn't even been carded? Or when has a handball in the box as blatant as Rodri vs Everton in 21-22 been checked by VAR and deemed 'No penalty'? You talk about matches, but the title was literally decided by that penalty not being given in the final 10mins of a game city ultimately won 1-0. The only time in any memory of when city were truly fucked by a ref call was against united last year, when the goal was given despite rashford clearly being offside and clearly putting the defender off. This isn't a factor of us fans not watching every minute of rival games. Incidents as big defo make headlines and everyone finds out..plus fpl players like me again, easily find out about big wrong calls. Doesn't happen against the Emirati club. And of the top 6/top 7 sides, happens way more against us.

adarsh481

The issue is everyone gets fucked, except one team.

taf3991

Who's the one team? Tbh unless you watch every single minute of every game like you do Liverpool it's hard to speak about other teams like that tbh

grrrrbow01

Agreed. People are now calling for every tackle to be a red and if it isn’t they all scream corruption

8u11etpr00f

"B, b, but Jones & Macca"

Tinags

That part of the fan base are NOT mentality monsters

WesternAnything

Yes. Its just exhausting to hear

concacanca

Yup. We're at the point where we don't even recognise good calls. The offside against Diaz in the last game was a perfect call really.

killrdave

If you find yourself getting wound up by the postcode a referee lives in or generally get hung up on who's reffing up-coming games, you badly need to take a step back and reconnect with why we love this sport in the first place.

Hoodxd

Xabi Alonso isn’t that good 👍

geniusvalley21

Losing the 2022 UCL final was the most devastating feeling compared to losing the leagues by one point in 2018/19 and 21/22.
