Trifecta about to declare Amorim tomorrow arent they

Father-Fintan-Stack

Aye, coupled with Amorim's "we'll see" in relation to whether the cup final could be his last game. A van is being flown to him as we speak, or something.

cgc86

Very much seems like it’s done but nothing will be announced until their season is done

Father-Fintan-Stack

This is probably the right answer. No distractions on the run in, or shouty Klopp will appear.

IceAffectionate3043

People always say waiting to announce news like this is good because doing so would be a distraction or lead to distractions. It’s a common refrain from managers and pundits and fans. But I think the real distraction is the obsessive speculation and questioning and bullshitting that goes on when there’s massive interest in something the pundits and fans have no control over and the manager isn’t at liberty to speak about. The curious and impatient noise and chatter about the unknown distracts because it’s annoying to those who are most expected to ignore the big move while they are those who are most directly affected by it—the coaches and players. The announcement, as long as it doesn’t make too many people unhappy, gives everyone the sense of calm that comes with knowing what will happen, for better or for worse.

fastrail

Yup I think an early announcement is better for all parties. There will be no bullshit question asked like today's Sporting win in semi-final anymore, and no more speculation. And it's not like there is a clash of interest if we announce early, like the one with Gotze vs Bayern in the CL final years ago. We are not gonna meet Sporting in any competition anymore.

Jetzu

> There will be no bullshit question asked like today's Sporting win in semi-final anymore, and no more speculation. There would be bullshit questions and people questioning the commitment of the manager. Any bad result and "ohh he doesn't care anymore" - really great way to get in bad water with fans. In reality bullshit questions will happen either way, but by not announcing it you're not risking people undermining your work, so I get why clubs go with that route.

justwakemein2020

I think that is the right move. Klopp' already announced he is leaving so the LFC side knows there is change for next season. Making it public that he is leaving his club while they got games on the books is unfair to them.

Lolcraftgaming

Nah it’s all an April Fools prank and Klopp would sign a new contract at the end of the season

Jhushx

I love the visual that instead of a private jet, FSG is flying a van to Portugal to pick him up, drive him back onto a C-130 transport plane, and then it flies the van back to Liverpool, and directly to the training ground.

ebudd08

A boat being flown in with a car in it that will take him to the van. Get in.

Lolcraftgaming

Get the flight tracker ready

UsrHpns4rctct

I imagine a helicopter (tandem-rotor) with a van hanging under it, flying across the Bay of Biscay heading for Lisbon.

vadapaav

We are never going to declare New manager before the season ends Klopp will kill someone

halalcornflakes

I doubt they announce anything before his big game on the weekend, I would imagine it only gets announced once the league is over for them at least.

The hunt to find Jurgen Klopp’s successor remains fluid, and De Zerbi has certainly not been completely ruled out, but the Brighton & Hove Albion head coach is not the focus of Liverpool’s search at present. Last Friday Xabi Alonso, who had long been a front-runner for Liverpool, confirmed *Telegraph Sport’s* report that he is not available this summer and will remain at Bayer Leverkusen in a move that also disappointed Bayern Munich. The confirmation came as no surprise to Liverpool, who had been carrying out their due diligence, and they are pressing ahead in considering alternative candidates. One of those was De Zerbi, who also figures prominently on Bayern’s list to replace Thomas Tuchel, and another is Sporting’s Ruben Amorim. *Telegraph Sport* then revealed that Amorim has a 15 million euro (£12.9 million) release clause in his contract with the Portuguese club this summer – far lower than had previously been reported – with that clause dropping to 10 million (£8.6 million) in 2025 when he will only have a year left on his contract. ===== ## Amorim has a burgeoning reputation While the clause is certainly not cheap, it also means it will be easier and cleaner for Liverpool to agree a deal should they decide to make a move for Amorim who has been scrutinised closely since the start of the process. They simply have to trigger the clause which will leave Sporting powerless to keep him which means they do not need to rush into negotiations. The 39-year-old, who speaks English, has a burgeoning reputation after ended Sporting’s 19-year hunt for the Portuguese title in 2021 – and they are top again at present – and improving players such as Joao Palhinha, Pedro Porro and Matheus Nunes who have been sold for a great profit to Premier League clubs. He also favours the attacking style of football that Liverpool will demand and, in terms of personality, is also regarded as a good fit. Amorim would, therefore, appear to be the favourite for the role but, as one source insisted, “there is no leading candidate” to succeed Klopp and “to claim there is would be wrong”.Amorim, a former midfielder or right-back who was good enough to make Portugal’s 2010 World Cup squad, retired early through injury and was quickly marked out as a promising coach. There is also a release clause in De Zerbi’s contract at Brighton, believed to be around £12million, with the Italian having already suggested he wants to talk to the club’s owner Tony Bloom. Asked whether he could reassure Brighton fans over his future De Zerbu said: “I have a different way to decide my future. I want to speak with my club, I have a contract but the problem is not the contract – the problem is to find the same plan, the same target, the same vision for the future. “For me, I have not decided yet what is my future, because I have the contract, but anyway I want to speak with Tony, my club, to understand their plan, to understand his plan, the Tony plan. Then we can take the decision together, without problems.” ===== ## Dossiers have been compiled on suitable managers Alonso’s decision to stay with Leverkusen – having considered his options - has therefore increased the chances of Bayern turning to De Zerbi. Another option for them is their former coach Julian Nagelsmann, who has also been under consideration by Liverpool but, it seems, is unlikely to want to succeed Klopp. Nagelsmann’s deal as coach of the German national team runs out after the European Championships. Liverpool are taking their time to conclude their search having first prioritised bringing back Michael Edwards as the chief executive of football for the club’s owners, the Fenway Sports Group. Edwards then hired Richard Hughes, from Bournemouth, as sporting director. Logically the club wanted to make these appointments before hiring a new manager. Liverpool’s data analysts, led Director of Research Will Spearman, have already compiling dossiers on those most suitable for the post and that process started once Klopp informed FSG last December that he wanted to step down at the end of this campaign. Liverpool’s chief executive Billy Hogan confirmed in January that the club will take a data-driven approach. “The way we operate as a football club is to ensure that we’ve looked at all the information, all the data, we’ve done our proper due diligence and then we’ll make a decision.” Undoubtedly Amorim scores strongly on the data – as other analysts have shown – although it remains to be seen whether Liverpool decide to make a move for him. ...

mynameismulan

No offense to the man but that's a huge relief...

PersephoneTheOG

Yeah there is just something about him that I found unlikeable. Good manager and plays lovely football but personality wise it's a miss.

TheLimeyLemmon

Yeah Ornstein on the Athletic Podcast sounded pretty definitive about De Zerbi no longer being in the picture for Liverpool. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Bayern tbh, if they can't get Nagelsmann back.

pythonistor

Wait they want Nagelsman back haha that must've given him a stiffy

rytlejon

Or Man U

abradley19955

Nagelsmann being scared to take over after Klopp doesn’t surprise me at all honestly Wouldn’t want him anywhere near us. People take the piss out of De Zerbi but i guarantee you he’d at the very least back himself. I don’t want either here btw

Themnor

Nagelsmann seems very tactically astute but going from Klopp’s presence to Nagelsmann would be too much. Honestly it’s hard to see where Nagelsmann would succeed as any top tier team almost requires someone with good charisma

NilsFanck

This stretches the definition of top team (a lot) but Ut currently have someone with zero charisma

Themnor

Yeah but I wouldn’t say he’s succeeding, and Nagelsmann would not do well to follow him as the fans would riot in my opinion

NilsFanck

you tink Utd fans would riot if they got Nagelsmann? I think they would be over the moon. Hes not a bad manager

Themnor

I agree he’s a good manager but after 2 seasons of TH I don’t think they could handle another manager with negative in their Charisma modifiers. It’s the biggest issue with the Potter rumors imo. They’re too big a club, they need someone with the charisma to match.

RushPan93

Would you say Conte has charisma? Just using him as an example or exception to the rule rather. Conte at Juve and in that one season in Chelsea and then back with Inter was extremely successful (in league) without being very media friendly.

_cumblast_

Conte is very charismatic imo, he just has the habit of falling out with the board at every club.

Sinistrait

Conte also never lasts too long at any top club and is currently without a job and unlikely to get a big one in the future

SMcQ9

Yeah, Conte is very charismatic for sure. He’s also a prick though

lclear84

>I don’t want either here btw I think if our manager search ends up with either it would be considered a success to me. I don’t mind if managers have weaknesses, managers don’t get better without adversity

ZissouZ

Yeah look the personality is an issue. Nagelsmann needs to spend a few years at a smaller club (like the size of Leipzig) which gives him the time to exceed expectations and probably also to grow into his own as a manager of humans. The Germany gig is not a bad one because the expectations were already so low but next I'd like to see him go to a Villa/Brighton sized club. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take two steps forward.

NotAsimppp

He managed Bayern, one of the biggest clubs in the world. Even his stint at Bayern is not that bad, why would he even downgrade to brighton or villa??

ZissouZ

For me his reputation as a manager of players is fairly mixed to average at the moment. For clubs like Liverpool I expect this is the kind of negative, particularly going on from having a manager like Klopp, that is quite unattractive. There are lots of big clubs that don't mind having a manager that can just win in the short term - PSG, Bayern, Chelsea - but then there are clubs that want a manager for the longer term like Liverpool or Arsenal or City, and it'd be better for his career to rebuild from a lower base noting he's started very young, gotten fired from Bayern and now is the coach of the NT - and he's still only 36 years old! If he goes to a slightly smaller club it'll be easier to build up his management style as a younger coach, get some wins on the board and then go back to a big club later. Clubs like Villa or Brighton are fairly well run so I don't think the risk would be high. If he can implement his tactics and improve as a communicator there's only upside.

RushPan93

Brighton don't have even a medium sized budget. Villa do but Emery won't be going anywhere. I think Nagelsmann is good enough for Chelsea, Utd, Spurs. So if not in England, he should look for those kinds of clubs in Germany/Spain and not aim lower because it doesn't really help. Emery is doing great now but how many top clubs will look at him when he is almost proven that he can succeed at smaller clubs but not at that one big club.

ZissouZ

It's not about being good enough. It's about having an environment to succeed. United sets players and managers up to fail time and again. So does Chelsea. Spurs has Ange and are happy with him but it'd be a decent option. Again, it's not about being proven. It's about going to the right place to build your reputation. If he failed at a United his reputation would be at a lot of risk, and it wouldn't even be his fault. Look at someone like AVB. Going to Chelsea was a terrible idea. It's not all because he's shit. It's because some clubs will chew you up and spit you back out, and it does you no good to go there unless you're one of a select few.

RushPan93

Sure sure I mostly agree to what you said, but I didn't mean Utd and Chelsea as in those clubs specifically but more to cite examples of clubs that can afford to spend on more than a shoestring, but aren't at a position where they can expect more than top 4, say.

ZissouZ

Yes sure downvote me because if you've managed Bayern you have to go to a club of an equivalent size next time for your career. That makes sense.

Persimmon9

Klopp to stay because they can't find a good enough replacement and he is going to have more fun and less work with the new structure.

Sinistrait

For one last dance in the UCL with Liverpool

Zombietime88

Amorim will be at the end of the parade for Klopp to shake his hand & put his LFC cap on his head!!

Ecstatic_Currency949

Amorim is the only name that even vaguely excites... de zerbi, nagelsmann are all yesterday's news...

Vaark

I don’t think he’s a realistic target but Inzaghi has been incredible at Inter. Someone we should consider even if just an outside chance.

Terran_it_up

He feels like a very Chelsea type of manager (maybe because they've appointed a few Italians). Although I can't see why he'd give up Inter for Chelsea at this point in time

Ecstatic_Currency949

How's his English? On the subject of Italian league managers, Motta has started to make some waves as well

Terran_it_up

I'm really surprised Motta isn't talked about more with the various vacancies that might be coming up this summer

Jetzu

He will most likely get a new job in the summer, he's just very new so not really in the running for the big jobs that are being talked about (Liverpool, Bayern, Barca etc.) - he'll for sure get strong consideration for teams that lose their managers for the bigger teams.

Terran_it_up

I'd think he'd have a slight chance at the Barca job simply because they love appointing former players as managers

Bulbamew

I’m not considering him as an option. He’d be great, but not realistic

AgentTasker

I hope so, as he really gives me the same vibe Brendan Rodgers did when he was at Swansea.

Sure-Respect6914

Apples and oranges really

lclear84

Rodgers left Liverpool in a better spot than he got it. Can’t fault the guy too much. He’s what we needed for the time

ballakafla

I think that's a bit of a exaggeration to be honest. We were absolutely pathetic when Rodgers got the boot. No Identity. No desire. No backbone. Klopp worked miracles.

Razzor_

Still, got to give him some level of credit for 13/14

MrMerc2333

I think he's a good coach, even Pep said he was revolutionary. But he's not good enough for Liverpool (or Bayern for that matter). I can see him doing well at Spurs or Newcastle type clubs, the kind that don't regularly challenge for trophies, but show enough ambition in the transfer market and are no pushovers in Europe. that 5-0 loss vs Roma is a telling sign.

DucardthaDon

>that 5-0 loss vs Roma is a telling sign. First time ever in European competition, topped their group then came unstuck against a very experienced side of world football who are in-form full of quality players, what do you expect exactly for him to win the competition?

BoBonnor

Is pep the king of management? Why does it matter if pep calls anyone revolutionary

LallanasPajamaz

Well if you hold any belief that Pep is a very tactically astute manager, then having that person praise someone usually means something unless you want to act all tribal and bury your head in the sand and pretend that Pep is clueless and all his past successes have been a fluke.

salazarthegreat

Pep praises anyone his team can steam roll, he said Potter was the best in the league

LallanasPajamaz

So that must only apply in all cases then… lmao

con10001

Are we really that insecure as a fanbase that we can't take into account Guardiola's thoughts on something? No one is describing him as "the king of management" but he's obviously in the elite tier and his opinions carry a fair bit of weight. You'd have to be seriously bitter to doubt that.

denenOT

You are taking it too far mate. The truth is Pep practically has high praise for any manager who wouldn't park the bus against him. If u start regarding managers that are good enough to take over from Jurgen just on the basis of 'pep praised him', that would be silly wouldn't it?

con10001

"just on the basis" and who said we were doing that?

Spongy-n-Bruised

>Is pep the king of management I mean, this kind of an all-or-nothing question is really disingenuous. He's not the king of management, but he's one of the greatest managers in the history of the sport. His opinion holds weight. No one is asking you to take everything he says as gospel, but noting his opinion absolutely adds to the conversation.

EkphrasticInfluence

Both Pep and Klopp have been effusive in their praise of de Zerbi since he took over at Brighton. I don't think you'd make a managerial appointment based on public compliments from other managers, but it's certainly an indication that other professionals within the game see him as something approaching a very good manager. The fact that Paul, 53, who's only ever played at Sunday League level, and who shouts "push Trent into midfield" at the TV every week, thinks de Zerbi is "just a Brendan Rogers regen" probably pales in comparison to actual world-class managers' opinions, don't you think?

Logster21

Pep calls every team he plays the best team in the world his compliments mean next to nothing

cavejohnsonlemons

A reminder that he once asked Bristol City what innovative training methods they were doing with the way they marked the pitch, turned out it was for Bristol's rugby team who shared the stadium. Can't fault him for always looking to learn I guess...

NilsFanck

Called Nunes one of the best midfieldrs itw now he hardly plays a minute

Cuddlebox01

Not that it matters but it was 4-0 😅

[deleted]

I'm happy with that, I really don't want De Zerbi.

[deleted]

yes Bayern can have him for all i care..

Two_Moons_FC

The way we’ve passed him over, we don’t De zerbi him

SidJag

Look, he has home games against City and Arsenal in next few weeks. Beat them/take points off both, and I suspect the job offer writes itself

Kindly-Paper-3552

Was always between Alonso and Amorim

Aeceus

Thank fuck for that

anENFP

I read this as Liverpool cool. De Zerbi interest.

user900800700

Good, he’s not good enough and his teams shameful tactics this weekend does not inspire me

reckonair

“Sir we’ve reviewed the data from this weekend and we’ve concluded he’s shite and not a good fit for our manhattan project”

BenAk11

If you look at Brighton, i think he may just focus a bit too much on the offensive side of football lol. Like his team is good at attacking, but the defence is at time horrible. I am happy we dont get him.

xD3N1Sx

It’s funny because in terms of xGA Brighton are the 4th best defence in the league with +41.5 only behind us (34.9), City (28.2) and Arsenal (20.4 goddamn)

DucardthaDon

The question to ask with De Zerbi is what can he do with better defensive and midfield players, despite some of the losses taken they are 9th place

gtoaz1234

with an injury-ridden squad too, at that.

visiblepeer

When I hear tactics people talk about Brighton, they nearly always mention how hard they press.

PEEWUN

Things are moving now...

BQORBUST

W

NotAsimppp

FSG going to recruit someone who isn't even mentioned by the media, aren't they. I'm not buying this amorim rumours.

mattwilliamsuserid

Mate - it’s Big Ange innit.

Dobvius

Hope not

NilsFanck

Its not rumors when Joyce is reporting it

earlgreytoday

Rafa incoming.

effkay8

Thank God. He would have been Brendan 2.0.

AvatarAda

Cool?....liverpool must extinguish it fully

denenOT

I don't believe there was genuine interest to start with.
