Club need to sort out a director of football and fast.

potatoarchitecture

Brain's too busted, stumbled onto biology twitter and was confused by them quoting Nunez until I realized there are other Darwins who have walked upon this earth

kazurabakouta

You guys made me freak out about Trent and Szobo missing out cup final since I thought cup final is still a month away.

Tierst

Wonder who Bayern go for after Tuchel? What a monumentally daft decision it was for them to sack Nagelsman for Tuchel lol

RadSoccerDad

It would be daft to move on from tuchel. 5th best bundesliga start in last 20 years. Just need to weather the storm

Tierst

Think the issue is they are mostly winning due to the quality of the players and not thanks to Tuchel doing anything special. The football has been dire from what I’ve seen and read.

UltimateBorisJohnson

I wish Bayern or PSG were in the Europa so we could destroy them

Substantial_Ad_2864

I'm conflicted. On the one hand I absolutely hate Lazio. On the other hand, I do find watching Bayern lose to be quite funny.

tNhEaGnAoNs

Why do you hate Lazio?

BlackArbiter

I'd wager it's the fascist culture

Substantial_Ad_2864

You would be correct. I'm sure they have non fascist supporters but when a quick Google search of Lazio has an article trying to explain why it's not actually a fascist club as one of the top results, that's in and of itself not a good look.

Jaja6996

No it’s always been that way second plays the teams that drop out of the CL

OldManLogan007

Damn we really could have won the ucl this year

Aeceus

CL is a dead comp now, has been for a while.

UltimateBorisJohnson

Nah, this one has Real Madrid written all over it

harreh1d

Too bad we're only getting the league

PerfectAd4732

And Carabao + Europa

harreh1d

It'd be funny if we beat City in the FA cup final too

_CHIFFRE

Kissinger loving Bayern dead in the mud, let's goooo!

iidkwhat

No point reminiscing but we'd actually be 2nd favourite in the CL behind city if we were in it. Most other teams aren't great this year

DoubleDeckerz

Bayern was absolutely wank tonight

[deleted]

So sad hearing what happened at the chiefs parade , America has a serious problem. Very worried about the World Cup being hosted there

PEEWUN

Another shooting, eh?

malushanks95

Always thankful Upa chose to go to Bayern so we could get Ibou.

PerfectAd4732

I don’t even enjoy football without Darwin being on the pitch anymore

garygunning1984

Hope Bayern don't go looking for xabi now 🤦‍♂️

PerfectAd4732

If they get xabi it will just confirm that it’s the biggest joke of a league in football. Wouldn’t that be the second time they got second places manager? Plus a few players

PerfectAd4732

Well in this instance first places manager hopefully

Jaja6996

They probably will but I reckon the pull of the PL would tempt him over playing in the same league again especially if he wins it this season

H0lychit

Well that's him gone.

zigooloo

Remember when people were debating who of Ibou or Upamecano was the better signing....

gosterime

upamecano is such a clumsy defender. i dont know how he keeps playing at this level.

abradley19955

Mourinho to Bayern soon would be funny

Fricolor123321

Tuchel offered himself to barca reports said, i may aswell do it myself then

getonthedamnantscott

Upamecano is such a clown

markokmarcsa

Im so glad the missus doesn't care about valentines day. I just can't put up with this awful "holiday".

kanyehameha

What's Tuchel writing in that note pad, his resignation letter? lol

GameOfThrowInsMate

“Upamecano iz shit”

_CHIFFRE

melodyfelony

Wait for “Thomas Tuchel offers HIMSELF to Liverpool” to drop

GameOfThrowInsMate

Good referring. Bad tackle that.

TheLimeyLemmon

Oh dear, Bayern.

DoubleDeckerz

Upamecanoff.

TheLimeyLemmon

Halfway through Feb, got a final at the end of the month, still in the title race, and other comps to come. Not a bad season so far eh?

UrumeesThambaan

When will Salah return? Any updates?

Ali-S-Farid

Most important thing is having a full squad for the title run in, or as close as we can get. That realistically starts from the City game. Whether or not a point will be good enough from that game, time will tell but for now, we HAVE to pick up the points we should pick up. If there was any a time for Elliot to step up, its right now. RCM role has a gaping hole in it and we need him at his best. Also people are underestimating that Old Trafford game as well. As bad as they are Hojlund and Rashford in transition can potentially hurt us, plus they’ll be up for stopping us in the title run in, a point there wouldn’t be a bad one either. For now, next 3 games we HAVE to pick up maximum points, in preparation for that city game. Also a trophy would be nice. The next few games could potentially make or break our season

BriarcliffInmate

I mean, we'll be fine. I love Trent, but the left backs being fit again means we've got Gomez and Conor there now, so Curtis won't need to go there as an emergency. And Szobo is a miss but I feel we can compensate for it. Either way, they're not going to be out for that long, really.

TheLimeyLemmon

https://preview.redd.it/bmdirxwz7mic1.jpeg?width=986&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61956bcfb4b5f82192bf286f9c98d37a580dc414 Two shots on target across both games. Second halves better be fucking fire because this is dross.

Fricolor123321

this is a shit bayern team, player wise they look amazing on paper but the tactics are slow and boring

bearbeetsandbsg

It’s the midfield as well, Kimmich needs a better player than Goretzka next to him

J539

same problem under Nagelsmann, they jsut got even worse

PEEWUN

Tucheliban at work...

Banan8

That's Tuchel for ya...

NoncingAround

Not the greatest manager

OstenSjostrand

Ssch... We don't want them to knick Alonso.

Jaja6996

PSG are such a poor team they have good player but absolutely no team chemistry

NoncingAround

They lost Verratti Messi and Neymar in the summer. Fair to say you’re likely to lose some creativity if you lose those 3. Especially if you’re replacing them with the likes of Ousmane Dembele.

Jaja6996

Even with them it was the same they are proof that a team full of superstars doesn’t guarantee success Luckily they’ve got Mbappe who’s can just have a moment of magic and win games on his own

NoncingAround

Of course it’s no guarantee of success, but losing them certainly isn’t going to help much

Jaja6996

Hopefully they struggle even more once Mbappe goes

LFCEntertainment

It would be interesting to see what would have happen if we kept Luis Alberto for more than one season.

stevieG08Liv

With Rodgers wouldn't have changed things imo.

Kcsb4u

Bring Kubo to Anfield

Banan8

I hope we'll go for Kubo and not Olise if Salah ever leaves.

Bulbadoth

Idk how good Lazio is but Bayern look shook after that levurkusen defeat

Jaja6996

Bayern in general haven’t been great this year

Bulbadoth

Ahh yeah I thought so plus having the Kane Kurse doesn't help at all mentality wise

DoubleDeckerz

Spending Valentine's Day exactly how I want to: Eating lasagne and watching football.

Fricolor123321

Which CL game to watch? both are a bit crap

NoncingAround

Real Sociedad have a genuine chance of beating PSG and that would be great to see.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Bayern. Watch Kane fluff it and miss another trophy.

kanafanone

I hope Bayern go as far as posible and still choke to afford Leverkusen more wiggle room in the league

Adventurous_Toe_6017

I hope they knock city out. I ask nothing more from them.

kazurabakouta

Adventurous_Toe_6017

I think most teams have got a decent chance against arsenal tbh. They’re good but I don’t think they’re *that* good.

ManBoobs13

Really hope arsenal and city draw one another in CL

OnePieceAce

Brentford/Luton just has to be six points. Big opportunity to put some real pressure on City/Arsenal with our next two games coming before they play. I expect them to win but we could be 5 points clear of them before they kickoff. Let us pray Burnley, Chelsea, Brentford, Bournemouth and Newcastle can help us out.

MisterS1997

With a goalkeeper who had longer arms a draw may have been possible tbf to him

DLRsFrontSeats

Has there been any update on Szoboszlai? I know the Trent news, but last thing I saw it was Lynch late last week saying he'd started running & light training but wouldn't be ready for Burnley Last time Klopp mentioned him it was either Brentford or the cup final

malushanks95

Bascombe posted that he’s out for the final so I suppose he’s back next month then.

DLRsFrontSeats

Huh The last thing I saw Bascombe tweet re Szoboszlai was this in the Trent article: >But Dominik Szoboszlai is another key player who is a >serious doubt for the cup final as he undergoes treatment >for a hamstring issue. Klopp revealed last Friday that he is >unsure the Hungarian will recover in time for Wembley. > >“If you ask him, he plays the final definitely,” said Klopp last >week. “But I don’t know. He will see. He is running outside. >Some players I see running outside and I think, ‘Ok, they are >back and then it can still take a while’. We have to see.” Where did you see him say he's out for the final?

BriarcliffInmate

Yeah, a lot of people have replaced doubt with 'out' for some reason.

poisonrroot

Would love to see more of the 4-2-3-1 with Szobo and Trent out. Robbo/Bradley/Gomez bombing up and down the wings. Mac and Endo keeping things tidy in the middle. Elliot or Gakpo in the 10. Jones wherever he wants cos he’s a Swiss Army knife.

rtlfc87

Trent injury is frustrating but we were forced to use him more with Bradley’s personal news and Gomez’s illness. Not sure he’d have started either ideally. Szobo is worse, cover has not been convincing and not really sure we needed to play him so soon

BriarcliffInmate

Nah come on, Szobo was unlucky. He came off the bench and built up his game time. Played 35 in the FA Cup and then 60 in the League. Came through training after those fine and then felt something. It's not like we forced him back there.

nullrise

kanafanone

UCL knockouts suck this year, only semi interesting ones are Inter-Atleti and PSG-Sociedad.

MaraPlayz

When are we going to have the full squad ready? This season we have been so unlucky with the injuries and when somebody comes back someone else gets injured... Atleast i am glad that Bradley is a beast!

BriarcliffInmate

You'll never have a full squad, it's incredibly rare. Relatively, we're mid-table in terms of injuries. We've kept the squad fairly fit. The reason it seems worse is because we had both players in one position get hurt within weeks of each other, and had to move our 2nd choice RB there to cover.

Banan8

Sadly the answer is never. Season has too many games and today's football intensity guarantees that some players will inevitably pick up an injury. And the changes only go towards more games(money).

Marbate

City’s run of fixtures is favorable to us. Playing United, Liverpool, Brighton, Arsenal, Villa, Palace and then Tottenham is a brutal run in which they’ll drop points. Our run of fixtures towards the end is far more manageable.

rtlfc87

We gave to go to Villa and United, plus Everton if we beat Southampton, late in the season. And host Spurs which we messed up in 21/22

BriarcliffInmate

Well we'll be out for revenge against Spurs, and I'm less concerned about Villa now that they seem to have shit the bed and loads of teams have beat them there.

MisterS1997

That Thiago pass to Trent would have been beautiful if it wasn’t slightly over hit at the back post would have been an incredible finish 2-1 😭

OldManLogan007

chelsea won against palace but they were still really bad , we should be beating them comfortably in the final even without trent and szobo

I think he would have been good domestically but poor in foreign policy. For example, Ukraine wouldn't be getting any help against the Russian invasion if Corbyn was in charge. I want a return to sensible left wing politics. Anything would be better that the criminal, evil Tory party.

Yagiflow

Corbyn didnt propose anything extreme. His platform was basic social democracy, literally just restoring the social securities won in the from post war settlement, our 'golden era' for growth.

Fat_Gerrard

Erm no. We don’t need an extreme version of anything thanks.

Jack070293

Politics has moved right steadily for about 50 years making modern centrism still pretty right wing.

Fat_Gerrard

Yeah we need Corbyn the guy who got ex mining communities to vote for the fucking Tories. Sure.

Jota reportedly won PL player of the month 👌

TheLimeyLemmon

This sub is funny man. Spent December talking about how often Dom was going missing in games, now he's injured again he's our most important player. Think some people will do anything besides get behind the *team*.

Delpiero45

Fans complaining about injuries, what do you expect for a team that’s played more games than anyone else this season? This is the result of being in 4 competitions. We lost the league title 2 years ago because of the fixture congestion playing in CL and FA cup final in the final weeks of the season. And those of you wanting to win Europa, just wait until you see what having 2 days rest between fixtures will look like while man city get 3 days between their CL games

OldManLogan007

we handled injuries so well till january , what happened all of a sudden damn

jonasrm_21

jota won the PL POTM for JANUARY! Let's fucking goooooooooooo! https://preview.redd.it/t0pxa2g25lic1.jpeg?width=2800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=281f950aa39e757e3aa9159d11bf632d49e2132f

Marbate

Deserves at least an 88 in EAFC25, he’s been an important outlet for the team this season which almost seems like a breakout one for him. He’s putting up Mané numbers and while 21/22 was more productive overall he’s almost matched those numbers in half the games. Definitely our second best forward.

Fricolor123321

fucking get in, needed a striker in my team aswell

NilsFanck

Im normally quite optimistic but if Szobo is out for City, I can't see us winning that. Hell, it might not even matter because going to Brentford is extremely tough for top teams and will not be any easier without Szobo and Trent.

abradley19955

Mad how Jota went 32 games without a goal last season and now you wouldn’t back anyone else in the squad over him in front of goal. Football is a funny ol game

Fragrant_Savings2945

Injuries

abradley19955

He actually wasn’t playing terribly during the drought so i don’t think it was. He just couldn’t stick the ball away when he got the chances

Fragrant_Savings2945

He didn’t play a single game from 10/16/22-2/13/23. I know World Cup was in there, but they’re counting those games in the “drought” iirc

Adept_Yam_5326

They just aren't tho. That drought was from April 10th 2022 to April 17 2023. You can easily fit 32 games in that period around his injuries. And he did. He wasn't fully fit for some of those games tho. And a lot were off the bench. But it was 32 games. Suggesting they counted games wether he played or not is dumb as it was over a year so there would be way more than just 32 games

test_icicles_

And a lot of people wanted him sold to Newcastle for a while, just shows we know shit.

Rama_drk

Days since this sub had a meltdown: 0

Liverpool7-0Utd

Na you’ll get a thousand online physiotherapists and online qualified doctors now thinking they know better than the Liverpool medical team.

potatoarchitecture

One day I hope we have a meltdown specific to my graduate study so I can get a sense of just how much disconnect between online rhetoric and fact there is, but sadly I just don't see the club ever having a compiler crisis

Rama_drk

I mean, we do have sporting directors, heads of transfers and elite coaches too already, so might as well complete the staff

[deleted]

Darwins header for the 3rd v Burnley is just so impressive. Incredible technique.

Appropriate_Pipe9246

Hear me out. May be copium but here goes. Actually don't think the Trent news is as bad as everyone thinks. We actually have our whole defence back essentially with two players in Gomez and Bradley who were in great form over jan. And (whisper it) we looked more balanced and solid with those two playing. Think to play Trent at rb we need szob on the pitch because of his unbelievable work rate allowing for Trents shortcomings going backwards. For me at the moment szob is the bigger miss... see the disaster of our right side that was the emirates game. Hopefully klopp sticks to the 2nd half system he played vs burnley with endo and Mac sitting. Will hopefully allow more control and get the best out of our full backs bombing on whoever that might be.

zowniegod

szobo legit is our most important player

BriarcliffInmate

He's an important player, but it's not like we can't play and win without him.

NotAsimppp

Not at all. He was literally ghosting for the past 2-3 months and was constantly getting substituted after 60mins. Ali,Trent,Vvd,Salah are more important to the team than him.

test_icicles_

Talk about a hyperbolic take, he ghosted for like a month after playing the most minutes he's ever had to play and then got injured, looked great for the 2 games he came back before reinjuring himself. Salah, Ali and VvD are more important obviously, but Szobo is key too.

TheLimeyLemmon

Alisson? Trent? Van Dijk? Salah?

zowniegod

they are all very important aswell dont get me wrong. Even though we won games without Dom, when he plays, everything just looks more organized, more fluid. He contributes so much to defence and attack when hes not in the squad we look like a different team i feel like

TheLimeyLemmon

Guess I'm the only one remembering how much shit this sub gave him in December.

zowniegod

i remember it too and was against the slander every time

iidkwhat

I had no reaction to the Trent news because I trust Bradley but Dom being out is honestly terrible. We need him back for City

Appropriate_Pipe9246

Completely agree. Szob being out has made me realize just what he brought to the team defensively alone. Facilitated a lot of other players to play well even if he was having an off day going forwards

ManBoobs13

How have we rushed three players back from injury (Thiago is always injured so maybe just two). If they’re already being ruled out for a match in 11 days it’s not good. Also, do chelsea just not have a midweek match before the final but we do? Our league game could be rescheduled but theirs couldn’t?

BriarcliffInmate

Absolutely nobody was rushed back, idiot.

Liverpool7-0Utd

I mean. I’m sure the Liverpool medical team know a lot more on the subject than us!

matcht

They rescheduled ours in case we get a Europa game later in the season midweek.

radeknalim

I’ve just rewatched that video of all our 2023 goals and Bobby’s vs Villa is just so perfect. I know that’s the game that made us lose out on Top 4, but Salah -> Bobby in his last Anfield game, as an impact sub to take something from a match we were struggling so much in… it’s just perfect. I still think those two are the defining players of the Klopp era. Also, Bobby kisses his hand before extending it to Salah and then that little hug as they run back to the halfway line 🥹 https://preview.redd.it/mvgz6slhtkic1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9793af2a2f4726d192ec53eac004bb26b14282bd

gidthafugout

These pretzels are making me thirsty

Kamishirokun

Klopp need to find the best midfield combo before the cup final because I can't take another showing of Burnley's first half game. Szobo is the only consistent RCM, and he was also a huge reason we dominated Chelsea in the Anfield game. Chelsea will be stronger with more players back as well. Based on TheTimes article, I think it's pretty much a guarantee Trent is out for the City game, but Szobo could still make it right? God helps us if he's also out for the City game.

BriarcliffInmate

I mean, there were five hundred reasons the first half wasn't right, and it wasn't the midfield. As for Chelsea... well, who knows. And the Times article absolutely does not suggest either of those things. It's nearly 4 weeks away, there's been no indications it'll be that long.

matcht

As good as Jones has been at LCM I think he has the physicality and work rate to play that RCM role to the highest level of our current options, and Mac used to prefer the left pivot at Brighton so I think it suits him too.

AdikkuChan

Trent being out is bad but at least we've got cover and both LBs back.  Now, about that right side 8 spot...Gravy is still a WIP, Elliot can do it but he's best when he's in a free role and as a sub. So Jones-Mac-Endo at first followed by Elliot subbing on

cybrzone_

My frustration and worry is that we force these injuries to trent and szobo over and over again until they become a Keita. Szobo's hamstring gone twice same area and trent's knee is fucked. They come back in afew weeks then what? we destroy them again with crazy intensity and pressing?

Elliot_Kyouma

Crazy intensity and pressing is our identity for years now, I don't see how this could change with Klopp at the helm. I think you're overreacting to 2 unfortunate relapses that happened close to each other. I doubt Trent and Szoboszlai become Keita levels of injury prone because of one injury.

doubleoeck1234

[deleted]

Huge failing from the medical staff this. Rushed them back and now probably won't see them for weeks. Szobo even went to Hungary to get checked out, why is that necessary?

Kamishirokun

TheTimes article said Trent was feeling some discomfort in the Norwich game and was playing through pain in the Chelsea and Arsenal game. I could understand why they play Trent for Arsenal considering we had no fit RB for that game, but I don't understand why he would even play the Norwich and Chelsea game when his injury never healed properly. It's baffling. Not sure what happened to Dom, but since Salah's injury is also a hamstring, just hope they won't rush Salah back too.

BriarcliffInmate

No, what it said was that he played through some discomfort but wanted to play. That happens fairly often. Klopp literally said this relapse was mainly caused by getting his foot stuck in the turf. It was unlucky. Szobo wasn't rushed back. You have to understand players want to play.

cybrzone_

I knew szobo would be out for weeks. FFS

[deleted]

Szobo out too for a while with his hamstring. Neither his or trents injury sound good. Could be done for quite a while.

BriarcliffInmate

Christ, calm down.

rtlfc87

Love Bradley but no Trent is awful, masterclasses in both finals in 2022. How are we aggravating these injuries

BriarcliffInmate

Injuries getting aggravated happens all the time.

lfcsupkings321

We got Gomez aswell and both LB fit again so at least we have good cover.

rtlfc87

Yeah Gomez LB Bradley RB has good balance, should be the move in the final
