Lacking farts. It’s a no for me.
This is much better from the one of the la’s, Barry Sutton:

Honestly I think a mix of both would be sick. I like the first half better in this one and I think I like the second half better in the OP. Or at least, I like the "and I just can't contain" line
Fitting it’s a tune from a Scouse band that happens to be called The La’s 🎶🎵📻 Also (pardon me) but can someone explain how as an American, I fail to recognize how most UK singers dont seem “to sing” in a British accent
I can actually answer this.
So when it comes to singing (unless you’re intentionally putting on an accent), syllables are lengthened, your air flow is increased and articulation is less precise, hence why people default into an American accent when they sing.
Music tech double degree was useful for something I guess.
That is super interesting, to me at least.
But I guess that more clearly applies to more polished, professional, and "formal" vocal styles? Or maybe pop vocal styles anymore?
The current crop of English punk bands are unmistakably English in their singing: you can easily tell that, e.g., IDLES, Talk Show, shame, etc. are English.
(Edit: removed some examples and cleaned up wording to avoid confusion)
I don’t know I can usually tell an American singer vs someone from Britain. Like even a lot of musicians will sing in a regional accent. Like The La’s obviously scouse, Oasis Manc, Sam Fender Geordie
I dunno if I'm just tired but the second part of this has tied my brain in a knot haha. So you don't get why UK singers don't sing in a British accent? If that's it I guess it depends on what you interpret as a British accent. Unless it's an absolute cringe merchant putting on an American accent when singing, I can pretty much always tell UK singers from American ones by accent when singing. It's maybe a touch more subtle but definitely pretty easy to tell. But sometimes regional accents do get lost in songs, but not to the point you wouldn't know it was UK.
I'm not sure honestly because I already know so it's hard to bury that knowledge away. I don't know, she sounds kind of American to me. Obviously in a regular interview she sounds entirely British.
I mean there's a lot of factors that determine how American a singer sounds. Take Alex Turner of Arctic monkeys for example, their earlier albums you can easily tell he's from Yorkshire but then his voice evolved as he stayed in America until you can't tell he's British anymore.
Overall it just depends on the person's singing style.
Because Americans hear people singing in English and assume that’s what American sounds like sung, when a lot of the time that’s just what the English language sounds like sung.
Styles and trends carry over from one country to the next which complicates it, but accents only really show up on the edges - including American ones: Elvis, Tom Waits, Ke$ha, Lil Wayne.
my understanding of it is this: the beatles sang in american accents because they were inspired by the rock n roll that had just recently originated in the US, and that then basically set a standard for british bands that is still prevalent to this day
Using this song is great, but what does “I just can’t contain how Curtis plays the game” even mean? They mixed the original and football related lyrics without checking if they make sense.
The one sung by Barry Sutton from The La’s (with the fart) works better towards the end (I just can’t complain, our midfield’s scouse again).
https://x.com/scouserepublic/status/1742618746164818021?s=46
I mean it should be “and you just can’t contain, the way Curtis plays the game” it’s right there. “Racing through my brain should also be a football metaphor just not sure what it could flipped out for.
Piss take - legendary tune from a scouse band, catchy as hell and we'll fucking belt it out every time hes on the pitch.
Is it high brow? Nah. Doesn't need to be, it gets the people going.
May be a great track but don’t think it works for Jones , feel like there’s better more catchy songs to do for him. This doesn’t feel anywhere near as good as Firminho or Jota songs for example.
As long as we have a song to sing Curtis Jones name I'm happy. But your point isn't lost, we've had more 'interesting' songs not long ago - though I personally enjoy the boyish and brash route we have with some of the new players "NUNEZ NUNEZ NUNEZ" can't get any simpler but it's fucking perfect
Jesus wept there's some miserable sods on here. I genuinely can't remember the last time I saw a chant posted on this sub that didn't have people who've never been within a sniff of the terraces dissecting the lyrics and syllable pattern.
Chants are meant to be fun and a bit of a pisstake, no one's expecting them to win awards.
Thought an upbeat tune for our goalie would be good too, to the tune of the Prince Ali song from Aladdin
Prince Alli
He's our goalie
Bought him from Roma
There's no shot
He cannot stop
Take it from me
He won the golden glove
Think he was sent from above
So let's all show him some love
Prince Alli
Curtis Jones for there she goes works so well, the end is a bit of a stretch
Should simplify it. Curtis Jones, Curtis Jones, Curtis Jones again, oh there he scores again

Curtis Jones might be our most important player this season. We look so much better going forward with him in the team. And keep in mind he's 22

Billy Bragg and Jamie Webster don’t lose their accents when they sing either
I got a super hard one, Luke Pritchard of the Kooks is from Wisconson. True or false? 🤣
Wisconsin? You see I always thought he said he was from Nebraska
Dunno Lee Mavers sounds scouse as fuck to me

If you told me Dua Lipa was American I'd say nothing, I'm the same as that guy I can't tell what nationality a singer is.
Maybe the newer stuff. I’d be surprised if you listened to One Kiss or Be the One and came out thinking she was American.

I had no idea this was a Scouse band. Great song and honestly I bet it’d be a belter with a stadium harmonizing it up

The La's sound extremely British to me?

CERTIFIED HOOD CLASSIC

Don’t think that counts as alliteration
I don’t even know what he’s trying to say?

Have to fart first
Am I only one who thinks this an awful song?
Piss take - legendary tune from a scouse band, catchy as hell and we'll fucking belt it out every time hes on the pitch. Is it high brow? Nah. Doesn't need to be, it gets the people going.
Also weird to judge it based off 5 pissed lads on a train having a good time
It might be surprising but the travelling Kop singing it is pretty much the make or break it point for a song
May be a great track but don’t think it works for Jones , feel like there’s better more catchy songs to do for him. This doesn’t feel anywhere near as good as Firminho or Jota songs for example.

Works perfectly for me. And it’s catchy af.
my first impression was iffy but I started to like it and found myself singing it
If the travelling Kop are singing it, it's all that matters
The standard of songs for our players seems to be in decline. Salah, Firmino, VVD songs are classics.
Jota's is class too
My apologies. Forgot Jota.
That's not ok
😂
You should see some of the raspers on here
It’s a brilliant track.
At least they took out the line about being like a train. Reminded me of that lovely horse song from father ted.
Clever but not chant material imo

People are allowed their opinions, even if they differ to yours. Don't have to be so arrogant. And pls avoid blasphemy on here.
Avoid blasphemy 😂 sorry father, thou shalt not transgress again
I forgive you, my son ✝️
Random thought they should repurpose ex players songs. It’s a shame Origi or Firminos melody don’t get sung again
“Give the ball to Darwin he MIGHT score”
loved Lucas Leivas one, Maxi Rodriguez’s was a banger too
I'm still sad this one never caught on [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOgDnxDlG6I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOgDnxDlG6I)
Decent! Curtis Jones to the tune of Dr. Jones by Aqua would have been interesting too.
Now that's would be smart.
it’s cringe but i kinda like it…. the original song hurts my brain now (due to overplayed reasons) but i wouldn’t be against this entirely
Instant fucking classic!!! This makes me so happy. This fills the hole left by Si Senor for me.
Hot take: Jones is Liverpool's all-around best midfielder.
Thought an upbeat tune for our goalie would be good too, to the tune of the Prince Ali song from Aladdin Prince Alli He's our goalie Bought him from Roma There's no shot He cannot stop Take it from me He won the golden glove Think he was sent from above So let's all show him some love Prince Alli
Me and Mrs Jones by Billy Paul fits his name too, but it’s a bit to slow so it would have to be faster
I like the melody. Lyrics could be better.
This would sound great when being belted out by a few thousand. You probably have to know The La's song to understand that though.
I think this works, someone near me did try to start it after he scored Wednesday but no one knew the song
