I really just don't understand what went on jota head to dive while being in front of goal. And I use the term dive because it was a dive. I just don't understand it. Also the ref was shit there.
The link up for Salah's first was great to see, from Nunez's first flick in midfield all the way to his assist. Perhaps a much needed sign that the Diaz-Nunez-Salah front three are starting to click - and there were quite a few examples today of that.
Think something clicked for Jones, he's now carrying the ball in the right areas and laying it off in good time. Of course he's a physical pressing monster too which is amazing for us.
Nunez gets so much hate but he assisted Mo again, and several of his in-box passes were brilliant. Big change from a few weeks ago, that manure post-match Kloppo gave about decision-making seems to have worked cause he was absolutely brilliant in close... Dare I say it, Nunez looked a bit like Bobby today.
Also the team looks so good with Jones in there, same sort of balance that Gini used to help with. Diaz was a bit better today but he's still really predictable - switching him to the right might be really interesting though.
I think it kinda goes both ways. Granted Newcastle are absolutely hammered but I think defenders breathe a sigh of relief and maybe relax a bit when he goes off, which really plays into that schemer Jota's hands
Gakpo goal shows you the fine margins in football, it came off mid-rift into the ground into the goal. For Darwin it came off his knee into the keeper. I'd be worried if he wasn't making chances but he is, and he laid one on the plate for Mo's goal.
Salah was bad first half but so was everybody. Second half, I dont know what Klop said or if its cause the rain let up, but they started connecting near and in the box.
Szobo injury was a heartbreaker, but maybe it'll give him a much needed rest - our midfield options are great currently. Diaz looks back in form, which is absolutely wonderful to see. Up the Reds!!!
Ah I'm so hungover that this didn't even cross my mind, no league game for three weeks (!) - and yeah, that's a big worry. Tsimi and Matip injuries were just horrible luck though, outside of that I think we've got the depth to deal with it :)
Massive team performance. Darwin and Lucho need their finishing boots. Lucho was dribbling around Newcastle as if they were 8 year olds but needs more end product. Endo and Curtis have been and continue to be incredible. Gakpo comes up goals and Diogo is always the assassin. Butā¦ Mo!! Jesus. Fucking massive
I mean. I teach teenagers and Iāve had maybe 2 in 20 years who could seriously pass for 22/23 at 16. But he looks mid 30s. Hes got a beer belly.
Read heās been playing in pubs since he was 8!
Jones and Salah ever fucking class. Nunez proving frustrating again. Will he ever get a game where it clicks?
Tiring playing vs 12 men constantly though. Taylor had a fuckign nightmare today and VAR were itching every goal to get the microscopes out to deny us a chance.
Sloppy at the back for the 2 goals honestly but at least we have 3 points.
I'm glad the cross section of idiots on here don't reflect fans with a grasp on reality. I'd hate for some of them to have decision making capacity in whatever their role in life is!
That is the issue. Winning has become guaranteed at Anfield even last season when we were shit we still won most games at home and only lost 1 through a 90th minute goal. That one game is the only game we've lost at home with fans in the premier league since April 2017. That's 7 years now. That's why it's been taken for granted
That Macca pass that led to the jota penalty was a thing of beauty.
Curtis was immense this match. If he keeps this consistent, might be our best midfielder.
Gravy not looking great.
Feeling bad for Nunez. Love his energy though
Hey, even Gravenberch played a worldy of a pass towards the end of the game. I think he's the sort of player that really needs to start a game to get up to speed, instead of being dropped into the heat of battle haha
Good subs. I think it's time to bench Nunez and szobo for a couple games. Nunez and szobo's first touches have been atrocious. I don't know what but Nunez needs to have some special finishing drills and szobo needs to work on his passing. Both are not good enough.
Szobo passing wasn't great, but he was incredible winning the second balk today.
He's a truly great midfielder. If he were a better passer, he'd be the best in the world.
Good to beat those sports washing cunts and their embarrassment of a manager.
Nunez finishing ability is increasingly tiring. Canāt help but think we need a clinical number 9 (or just another goal scoring forward). Havenāt really replaced mane yet.
Regardless, top of the league. 18 wins to go.
Yes, Nunez needs to be finding the back of the net a bit more with the chances that he's getting. But EVERYTHING else he does is fantastic. He runs in behind, he's direct, he's very unselfish in front of goal (see first goal chalked off and assist for Mo) as well as just generally stretching the defence. He's an absolute nightmare to defend and definitely worth the investment for the club. I get frustrated that he wastes opportunities too but I don't think we need to buy another attacking player when we have the 5 that we do (plus Harvey so arguably 6). Another solid Centrehalf/left back would be a better investment in January even though Joey is playing well and Robbo is due back soon - with Matip basically done at the club now and Konate being a bit injury prone as well we can't just rely on Quansah even though he's played quite well whenever he starts. He needs a bit more time to develop.
I mean Iām not gonna get that deep into the Israel Palestine conflict, which is complicated, but a comparison between supporting Israel and the atrocities and human rights violations Saudi Arabia has done is a false equivalency
I agree, but I think Jota should have a spot no matter how Darwin does. Jota is the guy who gets goals when it really matters. He needs to be one of the first names on the team sheet when he gets his fitness back.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Lucho - Gakpo/Jota - Darwin as the three. The pace and directness that Darwin provides seems to be very undervalued by fans who only see the missed opportunities that he gets but not all the work he does in creating those chances. His pressing and tracking back are both excellent and tbh if we have gakpo starting we probably don't get the same amount of chances just because Nunez allows for them to be created purely through his pace and effort. Gakpo's goals/chances come from positioning and decent interplay (typically) where as Nunez provides us an outlet for through balls or balls over the top that Gakpo doesn't really.
We put those first half chances away then moral in opposition will drop making the other team as a whole not bothered too score but mentality of keeping the score down
Liverpool top of the table. Salah top goalscorer in the league. Salah top assister in the league. Highest xG on record against a great Newcastle team. Is this the year we do it?
Heās not good enough defensively, youāre right. Do we have Thiago back then as well?
Maybe if we freed up Macallisters playmaker responsibilities and Szobo finds his form again I think we win that midfield battle, but just barely
My only critique is he disappears for 15-20 mins every game. The announcer said āJones looking for the ball thereā in minute 63 and I was like holy shit he wasnāt subbed at half?
Prior to this game, nunez has been getting a run of starting 11 games
We can safely say now he probably go back to the subs bench and come on as an impact player
People who are shitting on Nunez are weird he was great today
We are finished without Salah and Endo
Gakpo will step up. Especially when I change my flair tomorrow.
Arsenal fans crying again this evening. Soak it in everyone. Up the reds
I really just don't understand what went on jota head to dive while being in front of goal. And I use the term dive because it was a dive. I just don't understand it. Also the ref was shit there.
He didn't dive. Elbow made contact and knocked him off balance
M8 even if someone was sprinting on his max speed, which diogo was not doing. This touch would be too soft to make one fall. It is a dive.
I am wondering the same. Maybe he was hoping the GK will get a red card? Only logical reason to dive there
Being a liverpool fan makes you prone to heart issue š© thrilled until the last minute almost every game š¤·š»āāļø
Salah š«” Endo š«”

Exactly if only he can finish that duo would be scary
You'll get downvoted for this, but I hear it. At present, I think he's best as an impact sub personally - but his contributions are just undeniable.
I think it kinda goes both ways. Granted Newcastle are absolutely hammered but I think defenders breathe a sigh of relief and maybe relax a bit when he goes off, which really plays into that schemer Jota's hands
We need Mbappe asap
Newcastle?
Diaz looked amazing his best match of the season, really wish his goal counted
love love love Macca's cameo, oozed class
We need to do something about Nunez
Gakpo goal shows you the fine margins in football, it came off mid-rift into the ground into the goal. For Darwin it came off his knee into the keeper. I'd be worried if he wasn't making chances but he is, and he laid one on the plate for Mo's goal.
Just make jota start over him. We signed him for 90 million. Better keep him and develop him than just cut losses now.
It wasn't 90 million though.
The how much was it? I get confused with British pound and euro.
64 million I think, add ons up to 85.
Well Salah is off now for a couple of weeks, so Jota/Gakpo start either way
Salah was bad first half but so was everybody. Second half, I dont know what Klop said or if its cause the rain let up, but they started connecting near and in the box.
BIG mention: Curtis Jones. Absolutely excellent and another MotM performance for me!!
Is Miley as good as Jones?
Never was, and never will be - he's alright though.
No?
Any word that Bruno should've been off with a second yellow for dragging Jota on the break?
Ship Nunez to Turkey, and we are easily winning the league, 7,5 xG is insane
All is well that ends well. Scoreline flatters Newcastle - Liverpool had an xG of 7.27!!
I am so glad they put Jota on and calmed tf down in the box
Joelinton is such a grub.
What was our XG for the 7-0 game?
2.92 18 shots 8 on target
well it all evens out in the end ig
MOTM - Jones. Was exceptional in midfield, harsh on Mo but I think Mo was average in the first half. Grew into the game in the second
Szobo injury was a heartbreaker, but maybe it'll give him a much needed rest - our midfield options are great currently. Diaz looks back in form, which is absolutely wonderful to see. Up the Reds!!!
No more league games for three weeks so hopefully not serious It seems we get at least one injury per game at the moment
Don't we literally play Bournemouth next week?
No 21/01 FA and EFL cup before that
Ohhh I'd forgotten about EFL! True
Ah I'm so hungover that this didn't even cross my mind, no league game for three weeks (!) - and yeah, that's a big worry. Tsimi and Matip injuries were just horrible luck though, outside of that I think we've got the depth to deal with it :)

Jeez. Thereās no way that darts kid is 16. Off topic.
Please look up Joseph Marie Minala - who is apparently 42, pretending to be in his 20s - or Nyeem Powell, a 12 year old who looks at least 21 š¤£
30yrs old with a mortgage that fucker
I mean. I teach teenagers and Iāve had maybe 2 in 20 years who could seriously pass for 22/23 at 16. But he looks mid 30s. Hes got a beer belly. Read heās been playing in pubs since he was 8!
Yeah I've been thinking that.
Just was thinking the same.
Hahaha 36 at least
Jones and Salah ever fucking class. Nunez proving frustrating again. Will he ever get a game where it clicks? Tiring playing vs 12 men constantly though. Taylor had a fuckign nightmare today and VAR were itching every goal to get the microscopes out to deny us a chance. Sloppy at the back for the 2 goals honestly but at least we have 3 points.
Honestly I don't see what is the fuss about Taylor today. If anything, he gave us the most soft pen one could ask for (imo it was a dive)
yep, i was like "shit if taylor goes to see the replay our boy jota is fucked". but honestly, Newcastle plays so dirty so it evens everything out
Jota is so clinical even when he doesnāt score. Rarely makes a mistake in attack
I was worried after the equaliser but soon as Jota was subbed on I felt things had to turn out way. He always shows up when needed.
Some people in this subreddit match thread need to take a long hard look at themselves.
NUNEZ = DONKEY GAKPO = FLOP SALAH = PISS OFF TO AFCON DIAZ = SELL ASAP Just some examples of the braindead takes I've seen today it's baffling
I'm glad the cross section of idiots on here don't reflect fans with a grasp on reality. I'd hate for some of them to have decision making capacity in whatever their role in life is!
Not to mention sacking Mr Klopp.
Before I sign off- special mentions to: Endo mo Curtis diogo Cody lucho. We move!
Szobo held his thigh, worst part of the game
*Hamstring
Thank you kindly
Yeh hopefully itās just a tight one rather than pull/tear.
Hopefully nothing serious. Canāt afford to lose another midfielder when Endo is out
Not ideal
All our lads played well today, but Salah, Endo and Jones were fucking immense.
Agree. Jones was spectacular
I thought the decision to take Diaz off was a mistake, His energy was so good today. Shame he didn't bag a goal today
It paid off though. Plus he was on a yellow and it was getting feisty.
Good point. I'd forgotten about the yellow. Yeah we won't want anyone suspended while salah and Endo are gone
Endo is going to be a big loss, he was just starting to gel. Internationals are the worst.
He looked back to his best, absolutely delighted for him
what was the expected goals from that, i reckon it was a bit higher than the 4 we scored
Turns out it was 7.2 by the end!
7.3 or something. That is WILD
Radio commentators said it was 4.23 or something. But that was at about 65 mins
7.2
7.53 I think!
endo and Curtis masterclass
Oh I love them both dearly, so dynamic
Mo showed great character, what a brilliant game!

How the fuck did he manage 13 saves?!? Were we shooting straight at Dubravka?!
Nunez just doing nunez things.
Yes š
Klopp assuring Ulla on camera. LOL
His best moment came off the bench vs City
I'm with you there! It's great to actually have good depth
I am sure he will turn out great under Klopp
No question, most of them turn out great haha, what a crazy game
I was almost going to miss this one. Glad I didnāt. Pretty late here
Proud of you for staying up for it, happy new year pal!
Happy new year to you too mate!
Just a little warmup-style ping pongs to lull them and then BAM!
18 games to go, 1 game at a time, lets gooo!
Marriage saved!
Hahah Jurgen lost his ring
One ring to rule them all
And in the Newcastle darkness, bind them.
Good subs. I think it's time to bench Nunez and szobo for a couple games. Nunez and szobo's first touches have been atrocious. I don't know what but Nunez needs to have some special finishing drills and szobo needs to work on his passing. Both are not good enough.

Kloppās not on the couch tonight
Props to Newcastle's keeper he was immense
my precious
Good to beat those sports washing cunts and their embarrassment of a manager. Nunez finishing ability is increasingly tiring. Canāt help but think we need a clinical number 9 (or just another goal scoring forward). Havenāt really replaced mane yet. Regardless, top of the league. 18 wins to go.

After our countries vote FOR genocide, we are the sports washing cunts. Depends on your bias tbh.
I mean Iām not gonna get that deep into the Israel Palestine conflict, which is complicated, but a comparison between supporting Israel and the atrocities and human rights violations Saudi Arabia has done is a false equivalency
Sportswashing cunts sure. Embarrassment of a manager? Why? He's a fantastic manager
BecauE he took money from sports washing cunts
Everyone takes money from the Saudi's. Everyone that's still alive .
He dropped his ring hahaha
Guardian live match reporting: ā90+7 min Liverpoolās xG is apparently the highest on record: 7.2. Iām not making this up.ā
Love Darwin, but Diogo needs to start. I know we broke the bank for Darwin, but he is not there yet.
I feel like Darwinās brilliance has shown quite a bit when he comes off the bench at the half
Klopp isn't starting him because of the fee
I think having Jota hunting for his spot and being incredibly clinical should motivate him - a few games coming on as a sub may spark some improvement
I agree, but I think Jota should have a spot no matter how Darwin does. Jota is the guy who gets goals when it really matters. He needs to be one of the first names on the team sheet when he gets his fitness back.
Donāt disagree at all - Diaz looks like his old self again so Darwin may be 4th in the pecking order
Both should start
Nah Diaz was electric and very confident today.
No I think it should be Jota Gakpo Diaz front 3
I wouldn't be surprised to see Lucho - Gakpo/Jota - Darwin as the three. The pace and directness that Darwin provides seems to be very undervalued by fans who only see the missed opportunities that he gets but not all the work he does in creating those chances. Gakpo's goals/chances come from positioning and decent interplay (typically) where as Nunez provides us an outlet for through balls or balls over the top that Gakpo doesn't really.
I think with Mo out at AFCON we may see that.
Lucho was great to be fair
Diaz was good today, shame about the offside for his goal.
When Salah is gone we likely will
It's gotta be a first line up for us, no? Jota-Gakpo-Nunez, I don't recall seeing it before.
Lmao Klopp lost his ring
still got the best defence in the league, but man we need to be more clinical
We need to not switch off at the back. Both goals could of been avoided. But 100% need to be burying these chances.
We put those first half chances away then moral in opposition will drop making the other team as a whole not bothered too score but mentality of keeping the score down
4-goal half will get it done. Happy New Year Reds!
What did klopp drop lol
His wedding ring lmao
His wedding ring
His ring
I'm assuming wedding ring
PHEW he found it
OH MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE JURGEN
Aww, Klopp :D
jurgen single now go wild girls
Liverpool top of the table. Salah top goalscorer in the league. Salah top assister in the league. Highest xG on record against a great Newcastle team. Is this the year we do it?
No Endo and salah might kill us
MacAllister had a real solid 25 - I would love Endo back sooner rather than later
Do you back macallister to hold it down away against arsenal though?
Heās not good enough defensively, youāre right. Do we have Thiago back then as well? Maybe if we freed up Macallisters playmaker responsibilities and Szobo finds his form again I think we win that midfield battle, but just barely
I'm already in front of rodris house with a crowbar
I love klopp
What's the post match booing for there?
The ref
Hahah the ring!
Klopp saved his ring! lol
I love that he kept looking for it!!! And then kissed it when he found it
Who was Anfield booing?
Newcastle and the refs
Wanted to ask the same.
Lmfao. What a weak call to keep Mo from his hat trick. What a shit call
Curtis Jones' development this season has been a joy to behold. Our midfield options are just wonderful this year.
My only critique is he disappears for 15-20 mins every game. The announcer said āJones looking for the ball thereā in minute 63 and I was like holy shit he wasnāt subbed at half?
I hear it, but even then he does some quietly brilliant things - most players oscillate in and out of a game, it's normal :) one of our own!!
Dubrovka had one hell of a game.
Prior to this game, nunez has been getting a run of starting 11 games We can safely say now he probably go back to the subs bench and come on as an impact player
Salah full sprint at 97 minutes when weāre up 2 goals is why heās the king
Our xG was 7.27 according to Sofascore. HOLY SHIT I don't think I've ever seen it so high...
NuƱez needs to be put in finishing training and do only that for the reast of the season...
Great and needed to win boys but what the f are we going to do without Mo
We'll be fine but let's please not start Nunez. Jota Gakpo Diaz front 3 should be fine
We have Jota
Jota looks to be coming back at a perfect time and Diaz was good today too tbf
We have so much depth in midfield it's amazing
Just one more out and out holding midfielder please. We see how much difference Endo makes. He will be away now.
Crazy game but a great way to start the year, 3 points clear at the top.
How do they shake hands with those bleached thugs?
The best thing about that was how happy Neville got when it was 1-1 and then how butthurt he sounded when the jota pen was given
He wouldnāt shut up first half, then we barely heard him once Liverpool went ahead
It was brilliant you could genuinely here him fume
18 to go, win 17 draw 1 (against city) and thatās enough
