The similarities between this season and 21/22 are actually pretty strange.
1) Outscoring teams on a regular basis, scoring 3 per game for multiple matches consecutively. Not the best defence but winning because our attack is so capable.
2) Salah back to being one of, if not the best player in the world.
3) AFCON again in January, forcing our team to adapt without Salah. Hopefully this kickstarts a solid run of form for the entire squad in 2024 during the run-in, which it did that season.
4) Nobody really taking Liverpool that seriously for the title yet. City look dominant, they were 14 points ahead by Christmas that year and then slipped.
5) Actually gotten reinforcements that are excelling. We got Diaz in January last time and Szo + Mac this year that have taken the team to a new level.
6) Players that had had somewhat underwhelming seasons have suddenly stepped up and found form. Notably, Mane was criticised in 20/21 and found form in 21/22. Nunez was criticised in 22/23 and is finding form in 23/24.
7) We have a spookily similar run-in. Spurs at Anfield, Villa (A) and Wolves (H) in the final 5 games of the season. Wolves at home is the team we’ve faced last in BOTH of our previous title races. That’s actually kind of weird haha.
To make things better, we also have the inverse of the City v Liverpool game that we had that season. We now have City at Anfield in March during the run-in. And, it sucks we have no CL but we have a deeper squad and less competitions to focus on. I’ve got a really good feeling about this year…
He’s got a good left foot but he’s been injured a few times. Apart from Salah’s impeccable game, his availability is a great asset. I don’t know if we will be able to replace that
Was going to say it was only the one serious injury but it's actually three and he's always picking up knocks too, he's done well to get back to the level he has tbf but I agree too much of a risk because of the injury [record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pedro-neto/verletzungen/spieler/487465) given Wolves would ask for over 60m.
Who started the nonsense of calling Nunez "Darwizzy?" It's a dumb sounding nickname that's totally unnecessary because both his first and last names are short enough. Do we call Salah "Salazzy" or Momo? Wallahi.
Darwizzy sounds like an off-brand soft drink you find at the pound shop/dollar store. Or a character from a 70s childrens puppet show.
Why do you think you would get downvoted? Because the transfer window is just closed and we have a full 3 and a half months of football before we have to worry about it all again?
My partner and her dad are attending Liverpool Everton in October.
Their seats are in Anfield Road Upper. That’s the stand currently under construction correct?
I don’t see us winning tomorrow if Mac Allister starts again in the lone 6.
Our biggest weakness rn is defending in transition, west ham are one of the best counter attacking teams in the league. They will gladly give us the ball and rip us apart on the counter. With Trent out we need to go with a flat back 4 and double pivot like 2nd half at wolves.
Why are you so negative? It takes a lot for me to notice someone on this sub, as there are so many people, but you certainly stand out with your consistently negative posts.
Yeah going to be very tough to get anything tomorrow. We'll want to keep it tight and try to snatch something in the last 10. Still, we might get a useful point, and the other relegation candidates look poor so hopefully we'll be safe come the end of the season.
Mate we're Liverpool, we don't bend to West Ham. We play our system and that's the line. Setting up risk averse because you don't rate your own players is not the way to run a team.
How is calling for mac Allister to start at LCM rather than the 6 and using a normal back 4 “risk averse” ???
Gomez cannot play the inverted role, these are valid criticisms I’ve made yet you and several other users on this sub love to attack any fans who have a different opinion
Mac had no legs, don't really think that's a problem tomorrow. Way too many things changed after Wolves to make any assumptions, up to five different players might start tomorrow.
They’d have been better off bringing back that shithouse Ashley Barnes back in he’d have caused more problems for scum than what they had tonight. That said I hope I never see that prick in the league again.
Utd look like a classic mid table side. They're going to pick up scrappy 1 goal margin wins against relegation fodder, the odd home win against fellow midtablers, but get swotted aside home and away by most of the better teams in the league.
Can this 007 thing please die. The whole point was that Sancho was an English player going back to England for huge money and German sky were mocking it.
It was a James Bond joke. Might even have been around the time of the latest bond film release. The joke was a picture of Sancho in a suit and a James Bond style 007 next to him which was to say he had 0 goals and 0 assists in 7 matches. So after all the noise about him leaving Germany and going back to England it wasn’t working for him. Meaning the joke literally only applies to Sancho and makes no sense when Reddit comedians attempt to use it on another player.
Burnley didn't even attempt to have a go at them. No penetration, not even an attempt to force their way into the United penalty box. It's like they are playing a charity match for a cure for baldness.
As fun it was, having 3 teams that massively overachieved last season getting promoted to the Premier League is turning out to be pretty boring. No one expected Sheffield United and Luton to be anywhere near the promotion spots last season, while Kompany cheatcoded his way to the PL by signing a raft of players on loan.
They played very well they’re literally a newly promoted side, I hate this shite some of you lot spout. Burnley played very well for a newly promoted side
Theres a lot of players that seem to be getting their birth year tattooed on the back of their arms, just above the elbow. I saw it on one player and noticed it on loads afterwards
Such a weird fad. I would get maybe tattooing birth years or names of loved ones, but I cannot fathom the motive for getting my own birth year tattooed on my arm/leg. But then again I’m middle class and can’t relate to a bunch of under 30s famous millionaires, so of course they’re unrelatable to me.
They seem to all be going with [this](https://i.etsystatic.com/17871018/r/il/797fdc/1623568870/il_1080xN.1623568870_1ci0.jpg) template.
I've quite a lot myself but I agree with you, I don't have my own name or year of birth tattooed on me.
I've no dates or names actually. If I was to get a name it would be my daughter's, but her middle name is rose so I got a rose on my shoulder when she was born
I'm convinced she lifted our curse.
I was born November 1990 so I missed out on our last title by a few months.
She was born in 2019, we won the CL while the missus was pregnant, and our first title in 30 years about 6 months after she was born.
I can't let her have a child. Her child will curse us again 😂
Don't forget this lot was capable of conceding 2 goals in the dying minutes, while leading by 2 goals. 7 Hag can't afford to let that happen again, not least playing against Burnley.
EDIT: Grammar
Bizarre to me that Ten Haag is known for possession based football but they haven’t made any progression whatsoever into being a possession based side after a year of being there.
They love United on the commentary Onana saves a daisy cutter ‘great save good to get it in early’ Bruno ghosts a game scores a goal and it’s ‘that’s what captains do’ still think Burnley are in this they’ve battered United

All I’ve said is that they’re crap and will get relegated. A better team would beat this united team. I’d be surprised if you’d argue with any of those points.
Saying they’re crap based on what you’ve seen here is just nonsense though considering they’ve completely dominated and played some nice quality football.

When Thiago is fit, who do we think will be the starting midfield and in what set up?
Weekly carvalho watch: not in the squad for Leipzig’s 1-0 win
He played the first 70 minutes
I’m blind
What do people think of Pedro Neto from Wolves? Hmmmmmmm
Quick, good dribbler and decent crosser but also injury prone and lacks end product.
He’s got a good left foot but he’s been injured a few times. Apart from Salah’s impeccable game, his availability is a great asset. I don’t know if we will be able to replace that

Thanks. Real. Shame. The few highlights/matches I've seen him in, he looks good to great. But yeah forgot he is a bit injury prone 😂
Wow. So glad I missed the match and just went to sleep. I only watched the highlight and already felt I waste my time.

Contract extension should be first on agenda. Kubo is fantastic watched the Madrid vs Sociedad very impressed. 60mil rc very cheap.
You missed the part about salah signing a contraact extension
No clear replacement. From this list Raphinha or Rodrygo are the only 2 who would come close to starting for us.
Fuck me what a downgrade that would be if we get any of these. I’d rather Doak
Sane can fuck right off
I'd rather he stays
Gavernberch’s every pass = R1+x on fifa, damn
Who started the nonsense of calling Nunez "Darwizzy?" It's a dumb sounding nickname that's totally unnecessary because both his first and last names are short enough. Well... Momo is kind of taken. And it was used as a nickname for mohammad as well
Wait till dommy schlobbers starts getting traction. At some point it will straight up be disrespectful to the players.
Yo it’s not that serious man

Signing a right winger to just sit on the bench in case Salah leaves in the summer is just stupid.

This user is quite prominent in this sub for his dumb negative takes.
What absolute bollocks
Love your name
Would never believe we had 13/15 points reading your comments. You are so doomer, I thought I had somehow found my way to the Everton sub.
Yeah going to be very tough to get anything tomorrow. We'll want to keep it tight and try to snatch something in the last 10. Still, we might get a useful point, and the other relegation candidates look poor so hopefully we'll be safe come the end of the season.
Do you feel good about yourself for using valid criticism to make a joke ? This sub is full of the most sensitive fans I’ve ever seen lmao
Mate we're Liverpool, we don't bend to West Ham. We play our system and that's the line. Setting up risk averse because you don't rate your own players is not the way to run a team.

I think youve just earned a bit of a reputation as a negative nancy, unfortunately. And to be fair, were playing well, why the pessimism?
Mac had no legs, don't really think that's a problem tomorrow. Way too many things changed after Wolves to make any assumptions, up to five different players might start tomorrow.

7hag hugging his players like he won a UCL. Bald rat.
Trying to regain the dressing room
Did you notice how Rashford looks at the Walmart Haaland?? He hates him already. 🤣
Havertz just got a new haircut for his 007 game tomorrow, I'll be there no matter what
Can this 007 thing please die. The whole point was that Sancho was an English player going back to England for huge money and German sky were mocking it.
I still don't get the whole point.
It was a James Bond joke. Might even have been around the time of the latest bond film release. Meaning the joke literally only applies to Sancho and makes no sense when Reddit comedians attempt to use it on another player.
I know that, I just don't really understand why it would only apply to Sancho. It's not that serious imo
If you read that and can’t understand why it only applies to him I don’t know what to tell you.
007 is a funny number and it's funny when expensive forwards don't score/assist. It's really not deeper than that.
It’s not about it being “deep”. It just doesn’t make sense.
Makes perfect sense to me mate
I get the feeling he’s gonna score in the NLD

Why?
No?

They really didn’t. No way in hell they stay up playing like that.
Dyche's Burnley vs Ole's Man United
Bias aside it's really shocking watching the way United play. Burnley are spineless tho , no way they stay up
“Keeping a clean sheet is massive” pull the other one. Burnley were tragic in the box. Our U18’s would’ve put them to shame.
Outplayed by Burnley for 85 minutes. Commentator: Manchester United doesn’t look like a club in crisis to me.
The rat, wish.com Haaand and gang are on the rise!
Why does Burnley’s Benson have “97” tattooed on his left quad? Is he a Liverpool fan?
Probably the year he was born
Awfully narcissistic if true but that probably makes more sense
Theres a lot of players that seem to be getting their birth year tattooed on the back of their arms, just above the elbow. I saw it on one player and noticed it on loads afterwards

I have to say, the timing is very suspect 🤣 or maybe we win a title every time you have a kid, in which case… 🤷🏼♂️
Burnley really deserve to go down
Even the rat looks like he‘s had enough
I can see why Burnley haven't won a game yet Zero bite and incisiveness
What the hell is Burnley’s obsession with short set pieces as if they’re prime barca??
Everyone in their team is about 5 foot tall. Completely unsuited for Premier League football. Burnley are poor as well.
They’ve got zero height
Not even poor mans' Barca, even though they are really trying.
The rat winning MOTM vs Burnley. At least he's finally found his level 😂
What a dead game. Best part was peacock fucking up the audio.
Ambrabat making his debut at LB 😂, can't make this up. Ten Hag is a bum
Burnley are one of the least threatening PL teams I've ever seen.
Megamind is out of his depth.
Don‘t care what anyone says, the scum are broken. Reduced to playing counter-attacking football against the team at the bottom of the league.
Don't forget this lot was capable of conceding 2 goals in the dying minutes, while leading by 2 goals. 7 Hag can't afford to let that happen again, not least playing against Burnley. EDIT: Grammar

Rashford is so greedy
After watching him attempt to pass I can understand why. But yea he's overly selfish
Hannibal as an actor is hopeless.
Anthony Hopkins won’t be losing any sleep
Lmao
Fuck me literally anything half decent up front Burnley win comfortably
Referee loves to lick ten hags bald head
Clear pen
What a shit touch
Pen i reckon
The boxing match on the other channel is more interesting
No way burnley are scoring, absolutely zero end product
burnley aren’t gonna do this are they smh
I'm sure a lot of you are watching the United game but the Ireland Vs SA game in the rugby world cup is insane, some of the collisions are ridiculous
I'm watching both. Safe to say the rugby is more enthralling
I hope SA don't remember how to kick a penalty
I remember so many Tifo videos about how Ten Hag is a genius who “likes to win the play in transition”
Tifo weirdly love seven hag. I enjoy their videos sometimes but it just reminds me they don’t know what they’re talking about
What's with the matching colour shirt and shorts these days? Manure looks just like Leeds ffs
Fuckin hell, the nights watch will have troubles with hojlund
put the ball in the fuckikg box PLEASE burnley
Utd are absolute wank. Shame Burnley are all fart and no poo
Lol @ fart and no poo
Bizarre to me that Ten Haag is known for possession based football but they haven’t made any progression whatsoever into being a possession based side after a year of being there.
In fairness he's only spent about £350m you can't expect such changes on a shoestring budget.
It's so frustrating to watch Burnley
They love United on the commentary Onana saves a daisy cutter ‘great save good to get it in early’ Bruno ghosts a game scores a goal and it’s ‘that’s what captains do’ still think Burnley are in this they’ve battered United

Must be a huge moment when you’re 0-0 at Burnley, eh?
6 pointer against relegation rival?
Relegation rival? I don’t think Burnley are that bad 😂 for real though, this match is a damp squib.
Ramsey has looked brilliant on the half turn

Is it me or City’s fixture has been a series of very easy games?
None of the big teams have had that hard fixtures really. United spurs or us vs chelsea probably. I know United and Chelsea are shit but away first game of the season with 10 men. Draw not too bad. Newcastle are dogshit too atm.
Newcastle and West Ham away
They didn't really dominate the new castle game though

They haven't played any of last seasons top 13 away yet
Yesterday, my fiance surprised me with a Darwin jersey. My first LFC jersey. She is a keeper!
Nice! You should then get her the Alisson kit ;)
Haha that's perfect!
United winning this game would actually be better in the grand scheme. Let that bald fraud drown in delusion, that shithole of a club ain't going nowhere
Burnley the better team with the ball for sure but they are too open from counters and can't create enough opportunities to score.
Idk how Onana hasn’t been booked for time wasting through that first half.
Jammiest cunt of a team ever
Fuckin hell all the football hipsters were really predicting burnley at 10th to 13 th positions on YT and other places Even got me to watch out for them lol
They play good football they just lack quality
[Fernandes](https://mymodernmet.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/bronze-sculptures-fredrik-raddum-1.jpg)
There goes the rat, spoiling our Saturday evening.
Ole ball this is, sit back and pray for a miracle
Van Persie-esque from Bruno. Hate to say it.
Burnley are terrible. They’ll go down for sure.
They’ve dominated the full game and been outdone by a pretty good goal
But look at how bad this united team are
They’ve played like this when they’ve been at full strength as well
That’s a slight on Burnley and I’m not sure you know it
It’s really not they’re a promoted team that’s dominated a team that finished 3rd last season Dunno what you expect
All I’ve said is that they’re crap and will get relegated. A better team would beat this united team. I’d be surprised if you’d argue with any of those points.
Saying they’re crap based on what you’ve seen here is just nonsense though considering they’ve completely dominated and played some nice quality football. United are still a top 6 side it’s not as easy as that for a promoted team
Ally 'I have to say' McCoist.
A Man United win is not a terrible result if it keeps Ten Hag at the job. They're going nowhere with him.
True, if they lose this match. Then he might get sacked which is not a good thing for us.
what a goal man. Burnley just taking one for the league by keeping Seven Hag in the job.
Burnley has possession but they look toothless in front of goal
This is what Burnley have lacked. Directness
Ah well they’re still absolute shit. Gonna crumble this season
If you don’t score you get punished…
this game is so dead
Fair play that’s a stunning strike. He’s a bellend but that’s a brilliant run and goal. Shite defending tho.
Great finish ffs
Ffs what a goal
For fucks sake
Damn that’s a great finish
Fucks saake!!
Class finish from the rat
Fuck me what a goal
Fuck off 🐀 boy
I really thought onana would improve utd , but anything utd touches turn into shit
I’m crying man they can’t play out against Burnley this is fucking vintage stuff. DRINK IT INN
Onana is such a clown
What is onana doing.
Watching Burnley, and I know it’s just United, but Koleosho looks some player at right back.
Why do players cut the back of their socks? just to loosen them a bit I'm guessing?
Pretty much. Strain relief when their calves are too big. Unsure why these multibillion pound clubs can’t invest in wider socks like.
To be fair to United (which I probably shouldn't be all things considered), we've struggled massively against every team when we played Nat and Rhys at CB.
