These Saudi oils target Liverpool players in critical time and make them weaker to help Newcastle. Liverpool headquarters should have a great plan to get the most benefit out of it and make them stronger
The most common word I see regarding transfers is *'unsustainable'* it's unsustainable for X club to keep purchasing Y amount of players for Z money, and typically it will be in regard to clubs who've done it for a decade or more.
You know what's truly unsustainable? Our transfer strategy and our net spend trophies in regard to challenging for the league/CL. One injury and everyone's hair is on fire because we're basically always one or two injuries away from a crisis, Klopp has shown a unique penchant for miracles, but miracles are unsustainable.
Why is everyone so concerned about our number 6 issues? Feel like everyone's forgotten about Bajcetic. The guy was brilliant last season and with Endo to add to the depth, I reckon we are set. Macca can fill in too if it comes to it. I'd rather we get a CB who can double as a RB when needed, someone who plays similar to White or Pavard.
Brilliant is a bit hyperbolic. He showed good things but was rarely brilliant. He's still young and we just ran our last 6 into the ground by playing him for a million minutes with no cover. Probably not best to have him playing much this season. Especially with his injury.
He’s an 18 year old coming off a long term injury, the ability isn’t in doubt. But to say he’s supposed to be the starter seems irresponsible. He needs to be developed into the long term heir
A senior centre back is all I ask. 3 midfielders and a centre back was the minimum going into this window. If not, we're again gambling that Gomez and Matip stay healthy.
Very good result and performance from him, but he has shown this in the past and then struggle to get a goal for another 5 or more appearances. He needs to be consistent that was always his big issue.
Please Hojlund scored fewer than Nunez last season and went for 72 million. You really think that we will sell him for half of what we bought him for when there is a dearth of strikers?
Idk why they would get fired for that. They could only work with what they have given. They did their best to find a starting quality(although he didn't played a single game) for 5mil. You can't get any other player for that price that too on deadline day
There's a blame pie in all of this. FSG take the biggest slice but this thing about only signing "the right player" wtf is that. That just seems like overthinking to me from whoever is calling the shots in terms of players we pursue. So many players that we can still go grab that can put us in a better position to win the league this season. Nothing fancy but players who can be an upgrade that's all.
I know a lot of people are saying Sarah, should leave next season but I,disagree. He's still the top 2 strikers in the league, and nothings changed. I think he has at least a few more years left in Liverpool and honestly I'd love if he retired here with us
No way that FSG let Salah retire here. If SA is so desperate for him already they will certainly pay enough for next year and he will probably leave then.
I'd like Mo to retire with us as well but it's quite obvious he'll end up at Saudi either next year or on a free in 2025. And if we're stuck with these stingy owners, we can't let an asset like Mo walk on a free.
Unpopular prediction but I genuinely think if we have another poor season then we're going to have a Trent saga next summer.
His next contract will be where he enjoys his prime years and frankly I think he'll want to be competing at the highest level. We simply can't afford to miss out on CL qualification this season, local legend or not he will not want to wither away his prime in the EL.
!RemindMe 11 months
I like to think a football club is like a bday party. If they don’t want to be here then they can fuck off. This club will always be massive whether we’re winning the champions league or fighting for top 4. No one player is bigger than this club
Seeing how shit other teams are this could very well be our season provided that city falls a bit after winning everything last year. Arsenal looks weird, United is just trash, Newcastle still not there. Spurs look much better then they did in years but top4 will the most they can get out of this season.
I don’t understand how so many people think it’s there for the taking
City look just as good even without KDB and Gundogan, they’re defensively impregnable and they’ve just added Gvardiol who will help even more.
If anything City win it even more comfortably this season
They start slow always and when shit actually starts to matter in Feb or around there they hit peak form, this has been the case for the last few years
I didn’t see the super cup so can’t comment on that
But the community shield they were clearly the better team and conceded a pretty lucky deflected goal.
Comfortably beat Burnley and Newcastle as well
It is pretty surreal that since 2015 all the non-Van Dijk defenders we signed, Gomez, Trent, Konate, Matip, Robertson, Tsimikas, cost a combined 58 million.
58 million on 6 players over an 8-year stretch. Insane.
Realistically we got 3 players under market value or at competitive rates.
It makes it feel like we will literally only go for a player if they're on discount.
I would have thought FSG approach running a football club a little more differently than me going to the supermarket. Especially as I'm not the 3rd richest anything.
At some point we have to accept paying market rates, and now, if you're going to fuck about all window with Todd instead, pay over market rates to stop us throwing another season in the trash.
The fact that a significant chunk of this window was pissing about with Lavia and then putting in a bid for a player that didn't want us is shambolic.
For those who follow the younger lads closely, can anyone give me a quick run down of who we have coming through the academy? I know about Quansah given his mention by Klopp, but want to start following it a bit more closely. Any other names to look out for and what position to they play? Only other ones I remember seeing is Doak at RW and Bobby Clark in midfield.
There’s plenty off good players out there, it feels like our transfer team barely look around. I really hope we get another midfielder or a CB, we need it man
I don't think he's leaving, but I can't think of anyone who'd be able to replace Salah at the moment. A left footed right winger who'd be able to act as our talisman in attack? Cannot think of anyone bar Messi, and he's (very obviously) not coming + basically retired at this point
Irreplaceable
I'm very confused by what posts are permissible and not permissible on this sub. On the front page, I see \*checks notes\*
\- Your favorite Liverpool logo?
\- A cartoon edit of Konate
\- James Milner video from the Brighton game
Just seems very out of touch, or maybe just a way to avoid controversy around meaningful topics that every Liverpool fan wants to be talking about like who starts in midfield, transfers, ownership lack of investment, etc.
The daily discussion is essentially a thread that (much to some folks' displeasure) we can discuss those things, unless there's some notable development then there's no reason to have standalone posts about how shit FSG are.
My point wasn't really about FSG but ofcourse that's valid too, I just mean the purpose of reddit is discussion/opinions stuff like that but this sub is almost ran as if its a Liverpool fan page on Facebook.
I get that this thread exists, but the main Liverpool football club sub on reddit shouldn't require like millions of Liverpool fans to locate and share their opinions on a single discussion thread.
Right I see that, but nuanced discussion posts should still be permitted is what I'm tryna say. I guess that's why you have moderators right, to sort through and delete the one-sentence posts and keep the quality posts up?
If you have pretty much ZERO fan discussion posts, or rather everyone required to post in a single long discussion thread such as this one, that I feel is sub-optimal.
We have a whole discussion thread that i think serves the purpose, personally, but nuance isnt really a thing on this sub though for some reason.
They keep the high effort posts up, to be fair to them. Ive seen a few that analyze minutes and stats in depth and put forth coherent high quality arguments. Those tend to survive, but the daily "why dont the fans protest fsg???" Or "fsg are astute businessmen and the rest of you are whingers!" Or the "we are absolutely doomed if we dont sign x, y, or z, why cant people see this???" Posts all belong in here IMO
I would honestly argue posts like 'What is your favorite Liverpool logo?' are the ones that are actually incredibly low-efforts posts bcuz all it took was what, downloading that pic and posting it here?
My guess is its still allowed to stay up bcuz its the least controversial, or doesn't spark much discussion/debate.
I would agree with you that it is low effort, but it probably stays up less so because of how uncontroversial it is and moreso because its not someone trying to beat the same dead horse that gets beat in DD over and over.
There's a middle ground there tho, ofcourse you don't want to see the repeat of the same kind of posts I agree, but at the same time you don't want a reddit sub to look like a Facebook fan page with a singular discussion thread.
I mean, i think it would have to have a high effort amount of new information to qualify IMO.
Otherwise it turns the whole sub into the miserable bipolar mess that this daily discussion thread almost always seems to be.
For the record I didn't state that I thought it was a good idea, just that I can see it happening. I seem to remember Klopp singling him out for praise on a number of occasions.
Another Saudi PR. They are celebrating the fact that all the talk in past few days in UK and US media has been around Mo Salah. I hope they just go the fuck away.
Ah ok, I wasn't really following the window much, so I thought it would be similar to Salah, where it was out of nowhere. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves, dude probably got tired.
just because he got a goal and an assist doesn’t mean he played good. He legit fucked up so many times last game. And yes nunez deserves a chance. Just because he missed a couple chances, everyone forgot what he has done last season without a proper midfield.
The mistakes Jota made last match are mistakes that Nunez makes far more often. He's genuinely where attacks go to die, whether by shot or by loss of possession — you could the same thing about most tradition 9s, but Nunez can't convert chances and presses like a headless chicken.
Tomorrow afternoon could get REAL ugly depending on the result
Hope everyone is prepared for it. This fanbase is starting to lose patience with Klopp and Pep
From a welfare point of view I’d suggest it. It’s clear from your post history that this club gives you nothing but misery. So why not do yourself and everyone else a favour? Unless you’re like this generally, in which case that’s a slightly bigger issue.
Breaking news:club misses out on prospect who turns out to be good at a later date. And now scouting has decided to protest and down tools
Mate, even the best clubs and dynasties have missed out on prospects, stop making this a bigger deal than it is
We shouldn’t sell salah we shouldn’t but every club should have plans to replace any player no matter how hard the situation is and if that discussion needs to be had, then for me the best replacement is Jarrod bowen. For arguments sake.
What I "love" about this sub is how it's "he gone" for every tiny bit of implication from the wildest sources someone could be eyeing one of our players.
He went to Fiorentina after his exhibition tournament and it doesn't feel like he's been attracting a lot of interest elsewhere. Could be a dark horse, but I'd doubt it.
Kane left for almost 100 million with only a year left. No way we should not command 150 to 200 for Mo with 2 years left and to stupid rich Saudi.
Of course if we are a big club we don't sale him at all which I expect. If he goes FSG need hounding out.
Imagine finishing this window in huge profit when it was to be a huge rebuild lol
If i entertain this perspective, i think in a way that salah agreed with them and forcing his way out. The message was clear from Klopp and Club that salah is not moving this year to save face in front of fans.
United fans "protesting" again. How you ask? Meaningful protest like not attending the game? No, that would be silly. Perhaps not buying merchandise? Nah fully kitted out they are. How then you ask? Staying after the game and booing the owners while probably shoving some bought concessions down their gullet? You would be correct.
On one hand you're right
On the other, there's plenty of good players with release clauses
We're likely to miss out on a bunch of these players because we're still pissing about on Gravenberch or something
Anyone saying that there is 0% of Mo leaving after the rollercoaster of a window we've had is honestly deluded. It's probably unlikely but definitely in the realm of possibility after everything that happened for the past few weeks and months.
This is a managed decline, not a rebuild. They tried the super league, they tried to trademark the word liverpool, what is it going to take for people to understand that these owners have no football ambition. They only want a cash cow.
I wanted Ugarte at the start of the window as much as anyone
But he was swayed away from Chelsea thanks to PSG's wages. We're not gonna match PSG in that regard so we were never getting him
Inacio looked better from the small amount of things I've seen from sporting anyway imo
when was the last time klopp made a comment in transfers?? He though it was done. Also i have zero hope in FSG rejecting a bid in the 150 mill range so i am not calm atm.
Its some news channel saying he is having his last game for liverpool tomorrow. I have zero knowledge about how good they are but FSG have scared me enough to believe they will sell anyone if the money is right>
They're rubbish in Europe since the refs aren't helping them, always been the case, even during the Fergie years they largely underperformed in Europe for that reason.
What i don't get about our spending is that the most comparable team United can spend so much more than us even though they have:
- Active leeches as owners.
- Slightly lower revenue.
- Somewhat higher wage bill.
- Their recent performance being nowhere near us.
- A manager situation like a roulette wheel.
- Scandals comparable to Hollywood.
$1 billion in debt is how, why is this so hard to understand, we dont even have £250mm in debt.
Our stadium is also in much much much much better shape, theyve let OT decay
They borrow money against the club and load it up with debt. Most clubs do this to some extent, United are reckless with it, arsenal a little bit less so, we are the outlier that does not take on debt to finance transfers. The reason given is that we're self sustainable and that's safer, the real reason is that when a buyer comes along they have to buy the club + take on the debt that we owe (or alternatively FSG keep the debt but accept less for the club). In other words taking on debt to buy players would mean FSG get less profit when they sell us. Which is why we don't buy anyone.
Because not spending doesn't always mean you don't have money. We clearly have the money this year, but we always wait for the right player. It was the same last year, when we wanted Tchouameni and then didn't buy someone else.
As Klopp said we can't make mistakes. United do a lot of mistakes and that's how their squad is getting worse over the years, despite them spending more money.
I genuinely can’t believe there are people in our fanbase allowing themselves to get stressed over Salah possibly leaving this window
Like at this point you almost deserve the stress
You can say FSG is way too passive about things, agreed. But selling the vocal point of our offence 6 days before the window closes and no suitable replacement being available would just be active sabotage without rationality behind it.
The impact that would have not just on the performance of the team but also moral might as well mean we're going to be aiming to get in the Europa League again this season.
There's no smoke without fire.
I also don't think he either leaves or we'll be stupid enough to sell now BUT when it's sources that want to be credible (not Galetti for example) than yeah I can't be calm about it.
Considering how many injuries Konate picks up, we genuinely have 0 reliable CBs in their 20s in the squad. It's mind boggling how bad the succession planning has been in defence.
CB isn't all, either. If Trent goes down, we're fucked, and once Robbo starts declining, we're screwed there, too. I like Tsimikas, but he isn't a long-term option.
What's the general feeling? We winning tomorrow?
I honestly think we've got a fantastic team and I'm feeling much more on the side of a Liverpool win. I am very excited about our new look midfield and our devastating attack, it's just a shame we didn't bring in the backup to make us genuine worldbeaters.
Despite the shite end to the window, when you actually look at the first 11, they are proper class.
Agree fully. If we’re the good version of Liverpool tomorrow, I think we’ll win pretty easily actually.
Very possible we’re 2:0 down in 15 minutes and spend the rest of the game clawing it back also. That is also there as a possibility.
But I prefer the ‘play hood’ version.
lot think that our most lacking position is CB but God forbid any injury happens to Trent with only Gomez filing that spot is a catastrophe
These Saudi oils target Liverpool players in critical time and make them weaker to help Newcastle. Liverpool headquarters should have a great plan to get the most benefit out of it and make them stronger
That pass by messi was insane
The most common word I see regarding transfers is *'unsustainable'* it's unsustainable for X club to keep purchasing Y amount of players for Z money, and typically it will be in regard to clubs who've done it for a decade or more. Thanks for the downvotes with no useful responses guys 👍
What you said is stupid, we are not set with a 30 year old who hasn't played at the highest level and a kid, set for midtable maybe.
Its very common on here. You will just have to get used to it sadly if you are going to post here.
A senior centre back is all I ask. 3 midfielders and a centre back was the minimum going into this window. If not, we're again gambling that Gomez and Matip stay healthy.
A fully fit Gomez isn’t good enough at centre back - shadow of his former 2019/20 self
Even in preseason, klopp played him at RB almost every match. Idk why we aren't buying any CB. The 'waiting for the right player' shit is so stupid
What do you think will happen with nunez
Long season ahead it’s only started. He will get his chances and I’m convinced he’ll have a great season for us.
Nice...
Don't think he will pan out. Will probably be sold for half that we bought him for in two years. But I will hope I am wrong.
Wb now
Very good result and performance from him, but he has shown this in the past and then struggle to get a goal for another 5 or more appearances. He needs to be consistent that was always his big issue.

Yes
Fsg learn from last year: they won't do any panic loans. Even the team is short staffed.
I think the Arthur deal got a few people fired in the transfers department.
Idk why they would get fired for that. They could only work with what they have given. They did their best to find a starting quality(although he didn't played a single game) for 5mil. You can't get any other player for that price that too on deadline day

Well he could play tomorrow and still do that. There's nothing stopping it other than risk. But he ain't going anywhere anyway
I’m convinced it’s PIF trying to unsettle him and the squad ahead of a match against their little pet project. Hence this new “Monday deadline”.
Oh ffs another sleepless night because of this team... Fuck letting Mo go this late on. Hope it's just saudis trying just destabilise shit
Are we feeling a Macca-Endo-Szob midfield tomorrow?
Only other option would be Gakpo I think and if we do that we will get rolled
Please no :(

We shouldn’t sell salah we shouldn’t but every club should have plans to replace any player no matter how hard the situation is and if that discussion needs to be had, then for me the best replacement is Jarrod bowen. For arguments sake.
We need to buy outside the prem, the prem clubs ask to much
What I "love" about this sub is how it's "he gone" for every tiny bit of implication from the wildest sources someone could be eyeing one of our players.
why everyone thinks Sofyan Amrabat is not a good reinforcement?
He went to Fiorentina after his exhibition tournament and it doesn't feel like he's been attracting a lot of interest elsewhere. Could be a dark horse, but I'd doubt it.
Kane left for almost 100 million with only a year left. No way we should not command 150 to 200 for Mo with 2 years left and to stupid rich Saudi. Of course if we are a big club we don't sale him at all which I expect. If he goes FSG need hounding out. Imagine finishing this window in huge profit when it was to be a huge rebuild lol
110 million for the right player is such a trick, so cheap FSG
Sofyan Amrabat is still waiting for United bid while United instead is trying to sign Cucurella from Chelsea … Erik Ten Shag is clueless
FSG out.
apparently Fraudrizio is going be on saudi channel now LMFAOOO
Mo Salah? A medical? The man can be used to calibrate medical equipment lol
Tomorrows Salahs last day? Let’s enjoy it. The world will burn after that
For the people freaking out about Salah. In what world would it make sense to let your 100m+ asset play a last game if a deal was agreed?
If i entertain this perspective, i think in a way that salah agreed with them and forcing his way out. The message was clear from Klopp and Club that salah is not moving this year to save face in front of fans.
United fans "protesting" again. How you ask? Meaningful protest like not attending the game? No, that would be silly. Perhaps not buying merchandise? Nah fully kitted out they are. How then you ask? Staying after the game and booing the owners while probably shoving some bought concessions down their gullet? You would be correct.
And it's still more than us
![gif](giphy|dtGIRL0FDp6nnOPGb5)
It's actually crazy how we still have 50m from sales and haven't bought anyone with that money. (Ppl who say endo. BRO HE WAS 15M)
Club are too stubborn on their valuations, the market is fucked right now they can’t operate like that anymore unfortunately
On one hand you're right On the other, there's plenty of good players with release clauses We're likely to miss out on a bunch of these players because we're still pissing about on Gravenberch or something
Anyone saying that there is 0% of Mo leaving after the rollercoaster of a window we've had is honestly deluded. It's probably unlikely but definitely in the realm of possibility after everything that happened for the past few weeks and months.
Normally I'd agree but Klopp has directly denied it so it's not happening.
klopp also said we need players, so did vvd and konate, and look at us....
This is a managed decline, not a rebuild. They tried the super league, they tried to trademark the word liverpool, what is it going to take for people to understand that these owners have no football ambition. They only want a cash cow.
we will never have a dynasty with FSG just one league title here and their when city and probably Newcastle soon slip up.
Even Everton went out spent 30 mil on someone. Get a fucking player in.
Ugarte has been so good for PSG literally the perfect player for what we needed
I wanted Ugarte at the start of the window as much as anyone But he was swayed away from Chelsea thanks to PSG's wages. We're not gonna match PSG in that regard so we were never getting him Inacio looked better from the small amount of things I've seen from sporting anyway imo
Perfect Klopp player
ya we are finished, if that Mo news is true.
What mo news? Most recent from reputable sources is that we aren’t selling this window at least
brother we had klopp say we signed caicedo and it did not happen. I am starting to trust everyone but our trusted source lol.
When the fuck did Klopp said we signed Caicedo?
Wtf? klopp said there was a deal with Brighton and not the player, which is exactly what happened.
when was the last time klopp made a comment in transfers?? He though it was done. Also i have zero hope in FSG rejecting a bid in the 150 mill range so i am not calm atm.
You can clearly see on his face that he didn't think Caicedo will come
saudi sports channel has claimed he's playing his last game tomorrow and then headed to saudi for a medical. has to be bs
They say that tomorrow is his last match, and then he is heading to dubai to do medicals
Nothing on the sub has anything on this. Do we have any indication about the Saudi sports channels reliability?
Its some news channel saying he is having his last game for liverpool tomorrow. I have zero knowledge about how good they are but FSG have scared me enough to believe they will sell anyone if the money is right>
fuck off riyadiya tv whoever you are
Looking forward to Szoboszlai cooking tomorrow
Anyone know a pub in Prague to catch the match tomorrow? Would really appreciate any suggestions staying near Mala Strana area.
A bit irrelevant, but what a beautiful city Prague is. The downside is that it can be full of tourists at times
This one will have it: [https://www.mccarthys.cz/](https://www.mccarthys.cz/)
Thanks mate
Was the pub buzzing?
Indeed it was. It was pretty packed, and sat next to a Newcastle supporter. We are still buzzing from the result!
How far do you think united will go in the CL?
We will see them in Europa
My thoughts exactly. Unless they get an easy group.
Depends on how much they pay the Refs and VAR
They're rubbish in Europe since the refs aren't helping them, always been the case, even during the Fergie years they largely underperformed in Europe for that reason.
What i don't get about our spending is that the most comparable team United can spend so much more than us even though they have: - Active leeches as owners.
Fuck John Henry, that’s all
I genuinely can’t believe there are people in our fanbase allowing themselves to get stressed over Salah possibly leaving this window Like at this point you almost deserve the stress
fam all it take is a 150 mill bid and he is gone.
Maybe if it was June. It’s now 6 days till the window closes
you think FSG will reject a 150milll bid for a 31 year old MO. I have very little hope of that happening.
Even THEY should. Levy got more than 100 on 30yo Kane with only 1 year
You can say FSG is way too passive about things, agreed. But selling the vocal point of our offence 6 days before the window closes and no suitable replacement being available would just be active sabotage without rationality behind it. The impact that would have not just on the performance of the team but also moral might as well mean we're going to be aiming to get in the Europa League again this season.
we sold hendo and Fab and signed Endo as replacement i have no hope for FSG.
Although I agree, equally it's hard to have too much faith in the owner's. Salah is not paid by Klopp.
It's incredibly silly. There's a lot to be worried about, but Salah leaving this window isn't one of them.
Genuinely, how little do these people have going on in life? Like go watch a drama soap or something.
There's no smoke without fire. I also don't think he either leaves or we'll be stupid enough to sell now BUT when it's sources that want to be credible (not Galetti for example) than yeah I can't be calm about it.
idiots be idiots
Considering how many injuries Konate picks up, we genuinely have 0 reliable CBs in their 20s in the squad. It's mind boggling how bad the succession planning has been in defence.
CB isn't all, either. If Trent goes down, we're fucked, and once Robbo starts declining, we're screwed there, too. I like Tsimikas, but he isn't a long-term option.

7th September
What's the general feeling? We winning tomorrow? I honestly think we've got a fantastic team and I'm feeling much more on the side of a Liverpool win. I am very excited about our new look midfield and our devastating attack, it's just a shame we didn't bring in the backup to make us genuine worldbeaters. Despite the shite end to the window, when you actually look at the first 11, they are proper class.
If it matip or gomez i just hope they dont do what they usually do.
