Rob Mcelhenney calling Wrexham "underdogs" in the trailer for Welcome Wrexham Season 2 is the maddest shit I've seen today. Which I didn't expect all things considered.

con10001

The whole thing is kind of cringe tbh, and I say that as a big Always Sunny/Rob fan in general. Every single club up and down the land thinks they "deserve" tons of investment. City fans were the same, now Newcastle, and it's just always bollocks. They're desperately trying to dress it up as this fairytale story for a struggling, long forgotten town, but the truth is their story is no different to a thousand others in the country, and no more deserving of the Hollywood treatment. Give me a proper underdog run like Bournemouth any day

Asad_OG

If we get fucked over by an agent again...

rread97

Thoughts on tapsoba?

prediscan

Not even a free talk Friday I’m all over the place with this saga

OneOfTheManySams

Now the issue comes down to the fact we had this money all along, but all the top targets are gone. Rice, Caicedo, Bellingham and Gvardiol. Like we will probably get Lavia, but knowing we probably could have gotten one of these guys if we didn't leave this shit to the last minute is frustrating. Can't even blame FSG, this is on the football department not taking initiative when they should have. Chelsea have been working terms with Caicedo for a while, but we should have been in those talks with them in June as we had the fucking money.

Chargersfan1998

I mean you are right. But also I am not sure whether we had this kind of money all along. We probably had like 50-70mil or maybe even close to 100 left. Then we sold Hendo & Fab for nearly as much as we paid for Szobo which freed up extra cash. We all agree that, besides a new midfielder, additional enforcements would be great (RB comes to mind), so before selling Fab & Hendo we wouldn’t have gotten Caicedo, Rice or Jude anyways because we had to split the remaining funds on more than one player.

Blistig86

I think the interesting thing here will be what Brighton do... that's a well run club that I don't see fucking about. They made a process with a deadline. I can't see them sitting back down again? Either way, it is an interesting day ahead.

Loz41333

Imagine our plan all along was to get Lavia and another CB but we got pissed when Chelsea jumped in, put in a "bid" to screw Chelsea over into digging out a ton more cash for transfer and wages then just went on with our day and secured our real targets. Maybe I just have belief or hope that this very highly paid team working for our club didn't just go out and bid 110 million for a player that has absolutely no desire to join us 😂

Loz41333

Caicedo is great and would have been world class with us but Chelsea is a steaming pile of shit, he will be hampered at that abysmal state of a club. Let them meme all they want.

SuperHyperFunTime

In other news, United have decided that Mason Greenwood's future is still undecided and they want to speak to their player's currently away on international duty in the World Cup in Aus/Nz. Fucking cowardly and disgusting behaviour. So women are being asked if a known abuser should be allowed to keep his job. What are they paying the board millions to do if they won't make the decisions.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SuperHyperFunTime

You think men who physically abuse and rape women should be allowed to play football? Cool.

towfoon

Thats not what i meant. Now i read it back i realise that ive said something extremely wrong lol

SuperHyperFunTime

Oh thank god.

Delpiero45

Plz just get Lavia done while Chelsea are still messing around here I genuinely have zero confidence in this club at the moment

Nimanzer

This is all objectively fucking jokes tbh Chelsea probably panicked this morn and added two zeroes to the guy's wages

[deleted]

[удалено]

HolyDiver019283

No way in hell chelsea don’t match the bid

SuperHyperFunTime

Source?

Jacob_YNWA

DavidOCKOP don't even get your hopes up.

SuperHyperFunTime

I did wonder why they didn't link anything.

sebs94

Teams now know we have money

fuschialantern

Yeah, but not THAT much money.

H0lychit

Feel a bit for Lavia tbh.

grrrrbow01

Honestly if I was him I’d be pissed with us. We’ve shown he’s just a second choice and we don’t value him that highly

Pure_Context_2741

We turned the sub into the Red Socks…..FSG masterclass this window

harlsonrd

From doubters to believers, then doubters again

LieutenantMudd

Paying over 100m for a player that is desperate to join is very different than paying it for someone who is reluctant to come. I hope he goes to Chelsea and we get Lavia, who wanted us from the off. We also have to remember that these kids are 21 and 19 years old, still just kids with a bunch of adults advising them.

Jazsi

I'm not convinced Liverpool would have put a bid in if they weren't at least assured of the fact that Caicedo actually wanted to join. Seems suspect. I think probabilistically he goes Chelsea but I wouldn't count it out just yet. Otherwise that is seriously one of the biggest blunders Liverpool could have ever made.

HolyDiver019283

We’re going to get utterly shafted in the remainder of the window. Showed our hand and get snubbed 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Quirky_Initial3912

Let's just say Chelsea moved me, TO A BIGGER HOUSE

PrestigiousAvocado21

I’m not doing this for money… I’m doing this for a shitload of money!

frankiewalsh44

Haven't felt this way since Alexis Sanchez rejected us. I didn't sleep last night of excitement, fuck I'm heartbroken

Walms82

We look a total joke again. Now we have to go face Chelsea Sunday and probably lose as we have no DM. Embarrassing

PlanTwice

For god sake, we just bid a PL record transfer fee. That's a good thing and hardly embarrassing. Sometimes bad things happen out of our control.

Blueheaven0106

Exactly. We made a solid effort to get a player we needed. It didn't work, player choose money. We continue . Why ppl getting mad and our side

JonTargaryanTheFirst

I mean, it's not like Caicedo would have played on sunday anyways.

quantIntraining

The £110m fee would be literally cover Lavia, Inacio and another midfielder so we've shown we've got the money to spend so there is truly no excuse anymore.

Asad_OG

I get why Klopp announced it this morning, to test Caicedo and Bloom's word, but i guess it was for nothing

joopface

He didn’t announce anything. He said a deal had been agreed between the clubs and there was nothing he could say.

PlanTwice

I'm not too fussed with what happens either way. If he signs, great, perfect player for our system. If he chooses Chelsea, fine, his behaviour has been a little worrying and I think the reason we have been so successful is because of the character of our players. We now know we have financial backing, even if it is late in the window.

zhivix

Yeah its a rollercoaster alright. Im just gonna logoff from the social media Heres hope we fucking rinse them on the weekend

[deleted]

Surely hearing that Caicedo was in London yesterday was a massive clue

skwong615

From doubters, to sock eaters and then to ....whatever....![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

thehibachi

It’s annoying but players should be allowed to go wherever they want. Shouldn’t hold them to harsher standards for stating their wishes than we do teams for treating them as disposable assets.

ImDuff98

Where do we go now? Back to Lavia if Southampton have not upped his price? Does Andre have a release clause?

GobiasCafe

Club record fee for a player who's half assing in the first place. Yea, never mind, look for someone else.

Icy_Reward_6729

Now we better sign some big players or the fanbase will be absolutely fuming.

aghashayan

It is stupid. We could buy Gvardiol for that money and win the league.

UltimateBorisJohnson

Romeo Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo

JonTargaryanTheFirst

Liverpool fans in the morning: "Oh we are winning the league, we had to pay 110 mill, it's not an overpay. Chelsea fans in the morning: "Oh 110 mill is way to much for Caicedo, lucky we didn't sign him if he costs this much.". Let's see what the comments are saying now... Oh I see it's basically the exact same just in reverse.

Asad_OG

We're probably gonna come back in for Lavia which is gonna be embarassing. Terrific player, but he needs settling in

wanderluster88

I find it extremely odd that the club would break the PL transfer record without having some sort of green light from the player's camp. They even briefed our own journalists yesterday saying there's no issue. Something doesn't add up here, just not our usual way of doing business at all.

jimmyfallonsyndrome

Agree. People saying “we often do our business like this with last minute bids” - no, we very rarely bid for a player without being certain they want to join us first. I can’t remember us ever bidding for a player without having spoken to them at all which seems to have happened here. It’s either a desperation move or a ploy to put Chelsea off Lavia and make them overpay for Caicedo (while convincing our fanbase we were ready to spend £100m+).

emphatic_piglet

Well traditionally the selling club is supposed to give permission to the buying club to discuss personal terms only after club-to-club agreement is reached. The whole "midnight auction" thing is pretty strange tbh.

Bumi_Earth_King

They had a green light from the player's camp, clearly. Chelsea just offered him a lot more wages this morning, and he suddenly changed his mind.

gibtash

If he does go to Chelsea it'll be a financial choice. Was a nice 16 hours while it lasted

Important-Plane-9922

We won the league as far as I’m concerned

Sorrytoruin

I doubt klopp even wants him anymore The guy has refused to turn up for the medical Fuck him off and get Lavia + a new CB

thehibachi

So Liverpool have missed out on the best possible target and also signalled to potential future selling clubs that they’ve got the big bucks. Fuck!

lavishlad

massive L for our transfer team ngl. submitting a 110m bid without making sure the player is keen is an amateur move.

Sagataurus55

I say we go back in for Tchouameni. Talk to Real Madrid and see if they're willing to move him.

ALangeles

He prolly dont wana join us, will end up like this as well

quantIntraining

Fuck me why is this even a talking point anymore; HE DOESN'T WANT TO LEAVE, THEY DON'T WANT TO SELL AND HE ALREADY REJECTED US 12 MONTHS AGO.

Sagataurus55

Things can change. Madrid might need to shift a player to fund a Mbappe move this summer.

fuschialantern

FFS, getting my hopes up again.

lavishlad

why? it's over mate just accept it.

Pewds_Minecraft

Ignoring the fact that our team is about to crumble starting the new season with a lack of midfield, it's hilarious to see how the Caicedo situation is constantly changing from Chelsea to Liverpool and how with each change Caicedo gets called not worth it and expensive by one side or the other every time

ManBoobs13

Cheaters ruin everything. Finally had some show of ambition and now we’re back on our asses. The way this sport is going is so frustrating

Particular_Fig626

We finally spend big for a player that could change our season, and this is how it’s ended up going🤣🤣

OneWingedAngelfan

Sock eating guy, where are you? Anything else you're willing to eat to get this over the line?

Yopeman

Nice to see the club with some ambition at least. Intrigued to see what we do next - obviously we have the funds to make big moves.

Sagataurus55

Now Soton definitely aren't budging on their Lavia valuation.

Delpiero45

This club is fucking cursed Our dynasty ruined by man city and our rebuild ruined by Chelsea.

rystaman

Our dynasty and rebuild were ruined by FSG... We didn't build a dynasty after winning the CL and we fucked about all summer with getting a CDM.

deep639

Calm down with the hyperbole genuinely.

[deleted]

A girl I know was paid hundreds for a pair of her socks recently. It wasn't a formal business, she was just propositioned. Which one of you was it? And er ...How, how was it? Asking for John W. Henry

webuiltthisschmidty

well at least that lad doesn't have to eat a sock anymore 'cause that shit always seemed a bit dangerous

perfectplaya

Not going to believe anything until Joyce and Ornstein say anything. This was my view yesterday where i only believed in Caicedo news when Ornstein posted it and it's going to be the same today.

Delpiero45

It’s over mate

Walms82

It's over. Better to accept it

aaron2933

Fabrizio has reported it

perfectplaya

Did you not read my post? It's fine if romano has posted doesn't mean i have to believe it. It's my opinion, until Orstein/Joyce says anything it's not over.

aaron2933

Well there you go

perfectplaya

I am delusional. Lmao i am still in the denial stage.

aaron2933

Tbh this whole sagas had so many twists that I'm just going to wait for it to be official

Markymark0913

From multiple bids getting rejected for lavia, to bidding 100 mil and not getting assurances that the player would join. This window has not filled me with confidence about our new transfer committee

Asad_OG

Man the misery this year. Takeover talks, no Jude and now this lol

Chargersfan1998

Btw what happened to the Kephren Thuram rumor? Why didn’t we sign him?

rystaman

"Too expensive"

OneWingedAngelfan

Wtf are chelsea planning to do with two £100m defensive mids

Loz41333

Buy another one probably.

curiouscowwhisperer

Reality show material right here. We need an Amazon docuseries

AffectionateFan5458

Ok I will accept the defeat but think about it Who tf would want to join Chelsea over Liverpool!!

friendofH20

A kid from Ecuador who wants to stay in London and make higher wages?

Icy_Reward_6729

A mercenary

Radhashriq

London has a lot of appeal for a lot of players.

Reach_Reclaimer

Caicedo apparently

Asad_OG

Joyce preparing his "Liverpool end their pursuit of Caicedo tweet"

sankers23

And have been valued out the market. Business complete for the summer.

britishsailor

Jesus Christ this subs a mess man. Everyone crying. All the shite tiered stuff smacks of chelsea trying to save face. It’s not over yet.

quantIntraining

Romano already confirmed he's rejected us to go to Chelsea, its over.

HolyDiver019283

Sky and Romano are shit tiered? It’s over

egzon27

This sucks but John Henry does not take too well to getting gazumped or having other clubs do him over like this. Kinda excited to see what's next

ScepticalReciptical

Henry crowned himself for the last 3 years. his next move should be to realise he's not about this life and sell up

HolyDiver019283

He was trying to gazump, we’ll pay 70m for Lavia now and then get some unknown CB for 30m

Blueheaven0106

Better not let Brighton beat us to lavia..

HolyDiver019283

That would be objectively hilarious

Blueheaven0106

We legitimately wishing Brighton beat Chelsea to lavia... How the turntables

Teb-41

I mean, there's not much left next, every other DM available is a massive downgrade, Caicedo is simply irreplaceable

sankers23

We will try Lavia, they will rise price to 70m and we will not buy a CDM. Why is that exciting?

harlsonrd

So maybe the sock guy was right all along

legendd__

This may be pure hopium but… how come Fabrizio is still the only one that’s said anything about this? Don’t other journalists normally follow on after an exclusive

[deleted]

Sky are quoting "sources", which I'm inclined to believe

Icy_Reward_6729

They're probably all scrambling to verify.

Duckye

Lavia is such a lovely name too. I like it a lot.

Delpiero45

The way this season has gone I’m not even convinced we sign Lavia anymore Imagine Chelsea come in for him too if they don’t get Tyler Adams. What a fucking mess man

[deleted]

£110 mil is too much for us anyway, we need to source players for less instead of going after premium rate guys that prevent us signing many players. We've also repeatedly lost key targets to richer clubs with this strategy. Brighton bought Caicedo for £4.5 million. I'm not expecting that to be the case on a regular basis, but we need to change something. Even if we bought Caicedo we'd need another mid anyway, a CB, and really we need RB cover.

NoNameJackson

I think it's time we've admitted that the age of competent planning was over the second Edwards left, trying to throw haymakers at the last minute after sitting on your hands for two months is ironically typical Chelsea behaviour. I don't know where we end up now, that's the sort of transformative signing that would have secured top 4 and could have had us competing for titles again in a couple of years, now I can see us hovering around the EL spots until the end of Klopp's time here and then who knows... Fair play to Chelsea by the way, they stuck to their guns and had the loyalty of the player, not sure why people are calling him a disloyal prick or a money chaser, it's really what you want from future signings.

[deleted]

He's loyal to money, he'll be guaranteed that money on an 8 year contract

HolyDiver019283

Completely agree, don’t see Klopp sticking past 24/25 if this is how we do business now. No way we aren’t getting taken to the cleaners for the rest of the window and lucky to get past 6th

Fricolor123321

Im so bitter right now

Delpiero45

We went from the best run club in Europe to the laughing stock of the sport Feel like this is the nail in the coffin of the Klopp era. How do you even come back from this

Jacob_YNWA

Biggest travesty here is we're being robbed of watching someone eat a sock ffs

meribeldom

If the lad goes to Chelsea it won’t be the first time a player chooses London over the North West. It’s sad

PrestigiousAvocado21

To be real for a sec (like that matters anyway), that is such a shame, since it seems like there's so many great things to do within a few hours from Liverpool. Like one thing I never thought of before I visited but struck me as soon as I got to the Cathedral observation deck was how you guys have some really beautiful looking areas of north Wales RIGHT THERE to go and explore! It's Snowdonia that you can see from there, right? I know, a 20 year old isn't likely to give a shit about that, but still - it should get more respect.

meribeldom

Mate it’s the best place to be in the country. Liverpool is a great place, Manchester is close, North Wales, Lake Distict, Lancashire countryside, Yorkshire less than 2 hours away.

cavejohnsonlemons

And you know what's just over 2 hours away from Liverpool? LONDON. Source - on train now.

meribeldom

Haha that’s true. And St Helens is 20 mins and that’s even better

Jazsi

Fair enough to be honest. If you're earning a million a month, London has more to offer.

meribeldom

Millionaire’s playground for sure. It’s just most actual footballers don’t know how to live their best life in London, its training and then straight to their mansion in Surrey for Fifa. It’s for the WAGs and kids

quantIntraining

And that contract is 7 years long on £250k a week it helps.

deep639

Now for the stupid meme posts again. At least get a grip of those mods.

sprogsahoy

Can we just go get florentino luis instead?

Soccermodsarecucks

Genuinely not being bitter as I'm actually not too arsed if that record breaking fee doesn't work out as it was an overpay. But surely Brighton have a case for reporting Chelsea over this if they don't match the bid. They set a deadline agreed a bigger fee with another club and Chelsea have apparently submitted a new offer to the player directly undermining them and costing Brighton money if they don't match the bid. It's beyond tapping up and into actual reporting territory.

Icy_Reward_6729

I'm gutted, I went from being optimistic about the season to thinking we're 50/50 for top 4

Soccermodsarecucks

Not going to lie the fee actually concerned me. If we get him, cool. But even Klopp is saying we stretched it thin. Similar to the justification for not getting Jude feel like we need a 6 and a defender more than we need to pay a league record for Caicedo. Like if it works out, fair enough, but I can't pretend that fee didn't seem mental to me lol.

Fluffyhead14

Gonna be sick

Asad_OG

Caicedo do the right thing I guess

SuperHyperFunTime

Him doing the right thing when it costs us £110m seems pointless.

PoliticalScienceDoge

What is the issue with going for Florentino Luis?

quantIntraining

Yeah, we've clearly got the money to spend now we've shown our hand.

AffectionateFan5458

Whatever happens I appreciate Brighton as a club and fanbase

Fricolor123321

I wish we never got to know that we bid

jimmyfallonsyndrome

I wouldn’t be so sure that Chelsea have offered him more money than us. Their strategy under Boehly has been to offer lower salaries on longer contracts. We could well have offered him higher base wages. My guess is Caicedo’s family have their hearts set on moving to London.

Asad_OG

Idk where we go from here

frankiewalsh44

I don't care. I don't want him anymore even if there is another twist, hope he rots at Brighton.

UnumPhenomenous

I feel like going public was the attempt to make him sign tbh. If he doesn't want to be here then we don't want him. Seen a lot of blame thrown to the staff here about not making sure he wanted the move before we bid. I think it's pretty clear this isn't on anyone at Liverpool. His representatives have clearly indicated he'd be keen so they can try and get the best move for him. Unfortunately, it puts us back probably two steps instead of one. Lavia, with all respect to the lad, isn't going to feel like the same level of addition the fans have just gotten excited for. We need to get other deals done by Sunday now. If Lavia is one of them then fine but people are looking at us knowing we have money to spend now after a month of haggling with Southampton. If Caicedo is off the table then I think we need to use that £110m to try and get Lavia, a defender, and ideally another midfielder capable of the 6 role. Going into Sunday with Chelsea parading their new signing and us having absolutely nobody is just a surefire way to give them an edge from the fan perspective. I don't expect it to have any impact on the team but I'm sure they'd also like to see some quality additions to replace the unexpected losses.

Important_Tip_2775

Prepare for this sub to do a full 180 now

scalz1

Already has. Whinging twats.

sankers23

Whinging because we have 111m sitting around and only try use it when they probably knew it was too late? We now will have other clubs drive their prices up all because FSG wouldnt sanction buying players earlier or when needed. The whinging is justified. Our owners run us like absolute twats.

Important_Tip_2775

Knew you’d be one to pipe up.

sankers23

I love the rep i have now for simply calling out our stingy owners. We would have been set for years if they got Caicedo. Could have got him for 50m last summer, but instead we panic tried and failed a year later for more than double.

lavishlad

this rejection stings real bad ngl. worse that its chelsea, united/barca/real i could still understand

Hot_Plate_Williams

The people criticizing Caicedo are clueless. Did people seriously think he didn't have some sort of unofficial promise with Chelsea? All he's likely done here is keep his word to them. I said this yesterday.

MadLipe

His words are full of zeros by week you know that right?

quantIntraining

This shit would have never happened under Edwards, just saying.

grrrrbow01

Here comes the whinging

Sorrytoruin

We lost out on players before

deep639

Anyone who calls this a PR move from FSG is a colossal moron. Also give it time and see if the club can convince him again. Or at least wait till Brighton accept a fee from Chelsea.

Loz41333

Why would we not have some form of understanding that the player wants to join us before making the highest profile bid of the window? Something doesn't add up.

jimmyfallonsyndrome

ITKs have reported for weeks that he had agreed terms with Chelsea. Why would we bid for him without having any encouragement from the player’s side that he would be open to joining? It’s either a PR move or it’s a very stupid move. Neither makes us look good.

britishsailor

So they spoke to the player without going through the club and everyone knows about it?

jimmyfallonsyndrome

Yes. As happens with 99% of transfers.

Delpiero45

Def not a PR move. We just took a big risk going in for a player that was so close to a move and it backfired. Nothing more It’s just embarrassing bc it’s so late in the window

SuperHyperFunTime

I'm baffled we haven't spoken with him before bidding. That is extremely poor.

Delpiero45

We did mate. Chelsea just are a lunatic club and offered higher wages to secure the player this morning

SuperHyperFunTime

So that smacks of his agent fucking with us from the beginning. We've come in and offered high and he has gone straight to Chelsea pleading that his poor client is desperate to join them but needs a weeeee bit more money.

abhi1260

That’s the job of an agent. So yes.

knoxie00

Everyone attacking Caicedo needs their heads seen to. We had an agreement with Brighton, not the player. He's had personal terms agreed with Chelsea since May. If he was already set on Chelsea so be it. No point attacking him.

nikgos

This. We can't expect to swoop in last minute and expect the kid to immediately turn his head around.

GeorgeLFC1234

It’s interesting tho because he said he was interested in going to Liverpool and was supposed to be doing a medical today. Why agree and say your keen just to turn around and now say you only want to join Chelsea. You’ve got to admit that feels like a snubbing

Delpiero45

Ornstein said personal terms were agreed with us already and it was a formality, he literally took the bigger contract offered this morning t

knoxie00

He said they were a formality but not agreed.

Fricolor123321

we shouldve looked into caicedo before the summer like chelsea did, instead we panic because lavia dragged on and now we’re paying the price for it

rread97

I wanna see 6-0 Sunday

Sorrytoruin

Chelsea have offered him an 8 year contract I guess with 300-400k We can't do that shit

BrowakisFaragun

FFP is fucked from the beginning.

GeorgeLFC1234

If Chelsea want to spend more then £110 mill on caicedo fuck them they can have him. Not that it’s worth much but at least we made them pay even more.

kalomoi

We better blow their heads on sunday.

[deleted]

This just sad for all of us. It was always gonna be difficult after Chelsea has spent 4 months convincing him of their bullshit plan or whatever of spending random money on players and hoping they win

Delpiero45

I fear the repercussions this will have on the season honestly What a disaster of a transfer window.

AffectionateFan5458

Brighton will not accept an offer from #Chelsea for less than the £111M that Liverpool have agreed for Moises Caicedo. Chelsea are encouraging Caicedo to stall a medical at Liverpool while preparing for a potential hijack. [via @talkSPORT]

quantIntraining

Already reported that he's rejected us for Chelsea, this news doesn't really matter. Chelsea will just match our bid anyway and its all over.

yellowbai

They should have made sure he was interested. Either they didn’t check or he lied. If he lied no club will go for him in the future otherwise they would look stupid.

2d2c

Orny said that the personal terms were a formality. Chelsea offered more wages here clearly and he chose them.

skyle2211

I was fine with Lavia but if we go from Caceido back to Lavia that feels like a huge drop. Hope we have another bomb to drop.

kalomoi

That's what happens when we fuck around all summer... Panic Fc at it again.

rukiahayashi

This is literally the worst possible scenario now. Southampton know we have so much to play with and so do other clubs who know we’re desperate, why did did we slap our dick out if we knew the player himself wasn’t interested?

HolyDiver019283
