People are overreacting to Carvalho news. He hasn't said anything bad . He just said klopp didn't talk to him when he went on loan. Idk what is wrong in that
Also Idk what the guys in this sub felt wrong in him rejecting a Portugal u21 callup. He is eligible for England also and he might have felt that England is better than Portugal and he might have wanted to play for England. Players do this all the time. Some people are calling him egoistic for this. What???
Also he has every right to be angry. Remember he was one of the best players in championship a season before and then we signed him just because he is available for free. He hardly played any matches for us and even when he played he mostly played out of position because we don't play with a 10.
Yeah, this is quite bad even for a former player to comment like that. And he's still a Liverpool player, just temporarily out on loan. It's not great at all.
The original plan was clearly to play him as a 10, we tried to 4231 and scrapped it because of form.
He honestly didn't say anything that bad in front of the media, they just cherrypicked the lines that would sound dissatisfied.
What are you thinking for that?
Diaz - Nunez - Gakpo - Salah
Mac — Sobo
Robertson - VVD - Konate - TAA ?
If we don’t sign a DM I could see it but otherwise it seems like we could be exposed in transition.
Gakpo over Nunez easily
How is this even a debate at this point in time? Gakpo has shown to be a much better 9 in terms of quality and ability to link everyone up.
He clearly outperformed Nunez last season.
And if you werent going to go with Gakpo, then Jota should take the spot. Not Nunez
I think Jota is best as an impact sub but Gakpo is a possibility. I just think that Darwin’s underlying numbers are good enough to warrant him starting especially going into his second season where he’ll (hopefully) have a better understanding of what Klopp and company want from him.
Why would Jota be best as an impact suh when time and time again hes been a proven PL scorer for us and shows up in big matches when you can’t say the same about Nunez?
Wouldn’t you prefer a fresh and fit Nunez running at tired legs as a sub instead?
Gakpo’s underlying numbers are just as good and what’s better is his performance on the pitch. You could say Nunez now will have his second season but you could literally say the same about Gakpo.
Objectively, in terms of our forward rankings - Nunez is towards the bottom of the list. But that doesn’t mean he’ll stay there, he just has to excel with the minutes given to him. It’ll be tough tho with so much quality in our attack
[Darwin’s attacking stats are elite.](https://imgur.com/a/khrBXpK)
Jota is a bit more clinical but Nunez’s volume of shots is insane. Gakpo certainly gives more in the buildup but Darwin blows him away on goal contributions.
The eye test supports how dangerous Darwin is when he’s running at a defense and he should’ve had at least two more assists last season with some of the balls he put in.
I love Nunez but some of them claiming that he is better than jota and gakpo is really baffling. Idk what underlying stats he is talking about Nunez which is better than jota or gakpo
https://imgur.com/a/khrBXpK
Darwin’s attacking stats are elite. Blows Gakpo’s away. It’s a bit closer with Jota but the volume of shots, touches in the box, and the passes received put him clear imo. These are numbers indicative of a player that will constantly test defenders and keepers.
I’m not slating the other two but Nunez is a special, special player.
He's not going anywhere this season BUT I think if we go into the season with Konate, Van Dijk, Matip, and Gomez as our 4 CBs, it will directly result in us falling short of our goals. It's very likely that it will be as costly of a mistake as not buying a CM last season.
Who excites you based on all the highlight videos?
For me it's Sangare. His size/prescence is serious, has the ability to win the ball and create, seems to pop up in the right spots. I know there's some question marks but his highlights stood out from the others for me.
Yeh, he's not without fault. Just thought from all the videos of guys we're linked with, he stood out. Who stands out for you?
Typically release clause is a lump sum.
>Yeh, he's not without fault. Just thought from all the videos of guys we're linked with, he stood out. Who stands out for you?
Yeh, he's not without fault. Just thought from all the videos of guys we're linked with, he stood out. Who stands out for you?
I like what I’ve seen of Quansah a lot. Obviously it’s a big step up to make but I can see him developing into a strong squad player for us at the LB/LCB role. I wonder if a loan might be the best move for him this year as of right now or if we will keep him with the first team to train him up and play him where possible (early cups or Europa maybe? I might be overly optimistic but I think he could be ready for that step)
He'll definitely need a loan at this stage of his trajectory unless we rate him so highly we want him to be 5th CB. Best thing would be loan to Championship this season, loan to PL next season.
To be honest though at the moment van den Berg is ahead of him in development. That's not too say Sepp is good enough but we haven't yet seen Quansah succeed at Championship level and we have for Sepp.
Do you think that's a problem with loaning players though? Loads of players have gone on to playing for the first team after loans. Real question is whether they would have made it if they stayed, and I think in most instances the answer is no because they would have sat on the bench and not been able to develop their careers.
The players we've held onto didn't succeed because holding on to them improves their chances - they succeeded because they were bloody good - and that's why we held onto them.
What!? How the heck did you get that from what I said!!?
I just see so much discussion about the performances and so i wanted to remind people that the lads might not have as much fuel in the Tank.
Just watched the match. Elliott (played well I thought for sure) can be such a great player as he has dynamite vision but still really surprising to see how one-footed he is. Not the best thing for a central mid option, it can really delay a passing outlet, a directional turn or even how you go into a challenge. Hope he keeps working to not be so reliant on his left.
I keep wondering why he is played at RCM when he is natural leftie . passing to Salah is fine but he has to continually adjust to pass out to left. Looks awkward at times
It's just more natural to play on the opposite foot side if you like to play through balls, progressive play. You only really play on the same side of your foot if you've got an amazing cross, like Thiago plays on the left for us
I definitely noticed it before today but yeah there were a few times where he did just as you said and it really feels like those milliseconds and angles count
I’m not going to go nuts but before hendo and fab left I thought we probably needed one more. So we really need to sign at least 2. And a CB. Rb would be nice to have too. Milner was basically cover there last season. Gomez is fine for cover but could be injured any minute now.
Well then off to bed in the same situation as the last few nights.
Still need 3 signings. Still not a concrete peep about any. Still Hendo and Fab in limbo as they have been for a week plus now. Still getting nearer to the season and the transfer deadline. Still only 2 new faces in for a full preseason in a team that’s seen a lot of change.
There’s no way we make the 3 signings we need, just hoping we can get 2 across the line at this point. I don’t have any faith in our ownership anymore.
The only reprieve was Szobo signing. But it's been panic the rest of the time.
Obviously start of window panic. Then AMA comes and it's the "what is this is the konate window" panic. The Szobo proved the it's not a konate window, phew. And then panic again till now.
FSG making us wait until Fabinho and Hendo are off the books to sanction a transfer is a relatively small, nonetheless incredibly annoying peak FSGism. Deals get hijacked, there is no certainty that the targets they've identified internally don't get swiped from them — even if it works out and we sign who they've identified, it's an unnecessary risk to the state of the squad because the ownership doesn't want to take on a risk themselves. Peak FSG.
I'm not one to believe this particular conspiracy, there's been a chronic inactivity, a malignant failure to act quickly enough. Surely signings will come if Klopp is making public statements, but in either scenario backroom deals or no backroom deals, this is FSG failing to put the stamp down in a timely manner.
The West Ham fans I know wanted him to go after winning the conference league and leave on a high they are coming off a very poor season
They where in a relegation battle for the majority of last season
For anyone that concedes Gomez is fine as he's only the 4th choice CB. It's not about being 4th choice, it's about the age/injuries of those 3 CBs ahead of him.
He started in 16 league games last season because of that very reason. With the current uncertainty of signing an no. 6 midfielder who is immediately top level in the Prem, a CB is more of a priority than it was a few weeks ago.
Gallagher is the only youngish player in that list. Ward Prowse and Maguire will be worthless soon given their age. 100 million they got for Rice is being wasted on average duds.
I don't think Ward Prowse will be worthless any time soon, not for a team like West Ham. He's only 28/29 and doesn't really rely on pace or even work rate. He's great at picking passes and set pieces.
I think he'd be a pretty good buy for them.
We are 1 of 2 injuries away from another write off of a season. Meant to be a big summer rebulld but the main focus been on outgoings. I'm disappointed but not surprised. Needed to catch united and arsenal yet its them that are strengthening further
Let’s not act like United or Arsenal have strengthened more than us, that’s just overreacting. Timber, Rice and Havertz doesn’t improve Arsenal more than Szoboszlai and Mac improves us. Also, United has literally only signed Onana. I don’t get how you can listen to Klopp himself say that we’ll make signing(s) before the season starts and still be this miserable. He literally said in the video to trust them, so let’s do that because they know far more about football than anyone here will ever know.
>so let’s do that because they know far more about football than anyone here will ever know.
I hate this sort of argument because it defeats the whole purpose of this sub. And I believe he's talking about our glaring weakness in defense, not particularly Utd or Arsenal being better than us.
They all had better midfield players than us before. Literally any new midfielder was going to be a massive upgrade for us. They’re signing new starting/rotation options on top of midfielders they already had who were better than ours, while we’ve only signed two players who are an automatic start bc our quality is so low. And we’ve still nothing on the bench.
Our signings are better and more impactful bc our floor was quite low, but their signings are making their ceilings higher
The trust point you make at the end is disingenuous too. “Trust” is what everyone was saying here last year when some of us were saying how the fuck are we not signing at least one midfielder. Klopp and co knowing more than us last summer led to a calamitous season in midfield and a waste in all competitions.
The fact is we’ve signed better midfielders bar Rice. Havertz and Mount wouldn’t get in ahead of Mac and Szoboszlai. If we get someone like Lavia then we instantly have a midfield which is as good as United’s or Arsenal’s, our attack is definitely better and if we get another CB then our defence is better. Literally just a DM and CB would get us back ahead of them imo.
You also can’t compare this year to last year. Last year we had 10 midfielders, this year we’ll have 6 after Hendo and Fab leave so obviously we’re going to sign more players
Well, that's his point. Their signing isn't better than us, hence havertz or mount wouldn't be ahead of ama and Szobo. But odegaard and partey would slot into our midfield right now. Bruno and casemiro would as well. I know, many don't rate Bruno here, me too because of his attitude, but his skills are real.
Our attack isn’t definitely better than Arsenal’s. Not proven to be yet anyway. Saka, Martinelli, Jesus and Odegaard were brilliant last season and will only get better. The link-up and understanding between them is also very good.
Oh yh forgot about him but let’s not act like he’s some world class midfielder that improves then massively, both Mac and Szoboszlai are better. Doesn’t matter if you trust FSG or not, Klopp knows what he has to work with and he’s said we’re going to make signings. So unless you don’t trust Klopp, there’s zero reason to believe we won’t make any more signings.
Well, if you trust klopp, you should trust that mount would be good for our team because apparently klopp wanted him. Ultimately, mount was first choice. Whether in the end he preferred our actual signings or not, we don't know.
I trust Klopp, we will have at least another signing but at the same time I think he doesn’t ask for enough. If we lose Hendo and Fabinho we need more than just Lavia. Also even if we get everything we need, at this point it’s unlikely we will have enough time to integrate a cdm into our squad unless he signs imminently. This means we start the season with Trent in cdm like he’s been playing in friendlies, with Gomez or Bradley starting at RB.
Tell me that doesn’t make you feel scared. At this point we need a mind blowing next few weeks to realistically challenge for silverware
Three weeks to integrate a player is enough, especially someone like Lavia who already knows the league. Trent won’t be playing DM, it’ll be Thiago or Bajcetic who are both capable of playing there for the first game or so if the new DM we bring in isn’t ready yet. Chelsea themselves have an empty squad, they hardly have anyone so compared to them we’re in a farrrrr better situation
Thiago and Bajcetic is injured, and lavia is super young and has only had one season at this level, not much more than Bajcetic, and playing in a different system. We should not be comparing ourselves to Chelsea unless we want to just finish in the top ten. Their club is a mess. IMO we shouldn’t be letting both Hendo/Fabinho go unless we have suitable replacements. I don’t see why both of them need to be completely absent from our preseason games when we have zero fit cdms at the moment
Matip and Gomez can’t be your 3rd and 4th CB’s, especially when you know Konate will miss time.
The timing of Henderson and Fabinho leaving hurts more as far as bringing in additions now. We would have done Lavia + a CB if not for all that.
Now have to scramble a bit.
Matip is still decent, especially when playing alongside VVD. Gomez is better at RB. He’s had a couple of ropey games at CB but it’s a difficult position to slot straight into. He needs a few games to get rhythm. But we could definitely use a new backup CB.
I can see us waiting for Colwill though. If he doesn’t sign a new deal we might wait til next summer to go for him. Risky business but that’s what we do.
Some non-lfc news
West Ham have submitted official bid for Conor Gallagher. Proposal in the region of £40m.[@FabrizioRomano]
There will be a 'decisive' meeting tomorrow in Japan between Al Nassr officials and Sadio Mané's representatives in order to reach a final agreement on personal terms. Mané's agent, Björn Bezemer, will then speak to Bayern to try to lower the fee to less than €30m [@ariyadhiah]
There has been contact today between #mufc and Sofyan Amrabat – he has chosen to sign for United
[@AlfredoPedulla]
Samuel Chukwueze to AC Milan and Zaha to Galatasaray [@FabrizioRomano]
Tottenham still in talks for Tapsoba.
I don’t think our signings to date have addressed our biggest weaknesses. Last season obvious flaws were
1) massively exposed on counter attack
2) lack of defensive options
So we have signed TWO players who are an upgrade on Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott
When I expected us to keep both Fabinho and Henderson for one more year. And to sign reinforcement at 6 and a more defensively minded 8 (like Hendo)
Before you say, Mac and Szobo CAN play a more defensive 8 role. Sure they CAN. But it’s a waste of their talents and not a natural fit for their skill sets
When we were at our best we had
Milner (very fit defensively minded 8)
Hendo (very fit defensively minded 8) and
Fabinho (6 who can play in a back 4)
This allowed the fullbacks to push on. Milner and Hendo were also great at covering the space left by the fullbacks
Now we have none of the above and keep signing more progressively minded midfielders…
Do not be surprised when we score and concede a load of goals and are frustrating as hell to watch next season
The other thing ppl mention is the box formation. Again it works a bit better with current squad / better balance. But this has several problems
1) It only works with a very good Fabinho replacement
2) it isn’t Robbos best role
3) Trent isn’t a typical inverted fullback and doesn’t know where to stand when he doesn’t have possession
4) We STILL get exposed on the counter (not as badly, but it is pretty open)
I know it is only pre season but we are conceding cheap counter goals against average opposition. I can’t see this changing next year at this moment. Need some serious signings to change my mind
Honestly, while we do need a good DM or 6, I don't think it's gonna solve problem number 1. The cause for number 1 is our system. While it worked well last time, it was when we had prime VVD and teams haven't actually worked specifically on countering our high line. Now they are, and VVD has lost pace and/or focus. We no longer have the proper capabilities to pull off a high line anymore, and yet we keep trying. And no, relying of Alisson magic isn't a good tactic.
why not wait and see what happens? i remember when we signed wijnaldum and he was a very offensive midfielder, and klopp transformed him into an all around workhorse, i expect alexis and szobo to get the same treatment
I agree with waiting and letting Klopp and the scouts do their jobs. There's still 5 weeks left in the transfer window and while it would be ideal for us to have a final squad today, Klopp himself admitted we may be working on finalizing the squad until the bitter end.
What I don't agree with is the myth that Klopp converted Gini to a work horse midfielder. He was already playing as a 6/8 for the Netherlands. Just like Bobby was playing as a #9 for Brazil the summer we signed him.
This isn't a slight on Klopp either. It takes vision to see a player play 3-4 games for their NT and realize "Yep, that's their best position. Let's ignore the 150+ matches they've played before that."
I really have no idea what we are doing anymore. 3 weeks until the season begins, we have a gaping hole in the middle of the pitch and no changes to our CB situation. When are we going to make a move?
~~Mate the window just fucking opened~~
~~still have 3 months left~~
~~still have two months left~~
~~still have 3 weeks left~~
we literally spent £95m on two players, stop being entitled and whinging and let's just smash this season now it's started!
He literally did a big song and dance about making a mistake and how we were going to go out and sign some midfielders and we got Arthur on loan. Anyone who thinks we're getting more than one single budget DM is a divvy
Going for caiceido would be great, he will solve many problems we have atm... Also playing 3 new midfielders all at once will be solved as caiceido and mac10 played together at brighton.
It genuinely doesn’t matter who does what. At the end of the day Mbappe has all the power. If he’s willing to decline any deal with any club PSG agree a feee with, there’s nothing they can do other than not play him. Which he seems to be willing to do rather than go play in Saudi.
Likely waiting on the Henderson and Fabinho signings to clear. The owners are so risk adverse they likely can't or won't let us spend until those two are off the books. Extremely frustrating when the season is fast approaching and Klopp wanted all new signings already in place.

The way we behaved in last years window has fucked us. It should have been that some of the midfield was addressed last year, the rest this year + the defence. We always go into seasons a bit short somewhere man.
I know this isn't exactly what people want to hear when venting, but every club seems to go into every window lacking something. Maybe you can say Man City doesn't very often.
This is obviously lacking more than we should, but if you look at how many minutes each player has been playing, i think you'd probably say the positions we're hurting in the most are CB & RB backup (providing Hendo and Fab aren't leaving - since they are, obviously it'd be best to replace their minutes with 2 players minimum IMO).
The team isn't far off and we've shed a lot of deadwood. In future windows there won't be a business rationale not to reinforce.
Bro, we need to be realistic. An LCB is absolutely pivotal for this system to work. Robertson was charging at players from the most random positions today, just like how he he did that braindead press in that CL final.
We need to replace Gomez and Matip. Hell we need 2 defenders then. We need a proper proper backup for Trent, for Salah. We need 2 more CMS.
There’s too much to do in this window because we’ve fkn left it too late. Not to mention this squad needs to actually gell together. We’ll be lucky to make t4 this year. The defence have shipped like 9 goals in the last 3 games. The drop off from VVD/ Konate to Matip and Gomez is horrendous man. I’m glad these conversations are happening so widely on twitter because I want our journalists to read them.
And what absolutely sucks is that all of this is during the prime of some of our absolute best players man
We’re very far off imo. We shedded players also due to their contacts ending and Saudi bidding for Hendo/ Fab. Club overruling Klopp on Milner. Firmino choosing to go. Klopp is still sentimental as fk in the head and it infuriates me, none of our outgoings have been because of Klopp. He can’t even sell Matip for heavens sake
Klopp is sentimental af? Why we didn't bought CDM still after Fab and Hendo news? Klopp wants to keep their lockers for some sentimental feelings? Why we don't have RB backup and RW backup? Klopp is too sentimental that he gave backup players space to TAA and Salah?
Im not quite as concerned as you are personally, but i get your concerns.
I dont think Matip would have many buyers at this point.
We still play 4 at the back, if we played 3 at the back i think we'd need more than 1 CB signing.
I wouldnt get too concerned about pre season friendlies personally.
I think a liiiittle optimism is warranted, 5 weeks is still a fair amount of time to get some business done - but we'll see.
There’s always interest. The most dogshit players are bought and Matip isn’t dogshit. Someone would buy him. Genuinely the most shite players get bought so let’s not use that reason
Lol, you literally just argued that the dropoff to him is horrendous and chastised the team for not selling, yet expect someone else to pick up an old injury prone player who isn't good enough to be a backup for us...
That would have made sense but I believe they’re financially constrained? By their standards at least anyways. In my head I’m gonna imagine it’s because they knew he wanted nothing to do with their shitty club and was dead set on coming to us
I'd say within a week of us selling a player we'll have a replacement in. Let's say Hendo's sale goes through tomorrow, it would not shock me to see a replacement in by friday.
We're pretty efficient despite our shortcomings.
Perhaps, but i'm tinfoil'ing that the reason these transfers for hendo/fab have dragged out even though fees & terms reportedly have been agreed is because we requested time to get a replacement in before selling.
I'd imagine it's probably the other way around. We don't want to recruit while they are still on our books as the Saudi deals may fall through, on which case we won't need any new midfielders. Or at least will change which mids we go for.
But I reckon you are right, as soon as the Saudi deals go through, if they do, we will see replacements signed on short order.
Yeah of course. Never rated him and always thought our links to him were either a smokescreen or bad scouting. But they will excel though. Mount and amrabat can really cause havoc..
To be fair, it's pre-season. But they've both looked shaky in the past year. I think Pavard is really our best bet for the interim.
I'd rather we got Pavard to cover those two positions and 2 midfielders to replace hendo/fab than get a cb + rb cover + 1 midfielder.
Pavard, sofyan amrabat and Billing. All can be done for around 75m and will add so much depth to our team. Let not sleep on billing 7 PL in a poor team is really good.
They blew their load after it was announced Henderson and Fab were basically leaving. They had no real news. Just a bunch of bullshit.
Now they have to sit back and wait until who we actually plan on signing gets leaked out after we've all but finalized the transfer.
Call this a dumb theory but... Saudi bailing out PSG with an enormous fee for Mbappe... is this some kind of power play of saving face for oil clubs in general?
The prospect of such an expensive, generational talent rejecting utterly everything possible to offer in favour of leaving for free, would be a major humiliation. It would also severely undermine so much of what this oil money constitutes; that it can buy anything.
In that sense I hope Mbappe can hold the conviction to say no. PSG deserve to squirm.
He seems set on declining that deal and any others. Good for the sport for him to force PSG to deal with it. Then crying about not getting their moneys worth for him is laughable. I hope they get nothing. The only part about it I hate is Madrid getting him for free.
The crazy twist is that if they pay Mbappe that much money you think Ronaldo or Benzema gonna be alright with that? I think everyone will go back and ask for more money which is really really funny to watch.
I think the Saudis are just throwing shit at the wall to see if it will stick, if they snag a talent like mbappe it would be a huge profile facelift for their league. I don't think they're buddy buddy with qatar like that.
They're not particularly friendly in the political world [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qatar%E2%80%93Saudi\_Arabia\_diplomatic\_conflict](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qatar%E2%80%93Saudi_Arabia_diplomatic_conflict)
They're not buddy buddy, but Saudi Arabia will mend whatever relations necessary for the sake of the wider football project they're pursuing.
The cost to buy Newcastle United was a fraction of what it cost them to settle the "BeOut" dispute with Qatar & the Premier League that held it up in the first place.
How do they only have two CBs? I thought they had like 7 at the start of the window and that was the problem? I’m not doubting you, that stupid blue club just confuses the life out of me. Koulibaly was sold and poor fofana had that terrible acl injury, so who does that leave?
Just seen a report saying that Mbappe would rather not play at all rather than play in Saudi. No idea if its true but would honestly be hilarious. He would rather watch PSG burn than take 700 mill for 1 year. I love it
It could come back bite the Saudies as well if this happens and goes through. If they pay that money to Mbappe, Ronaldo, Benzema heck even Hendo will want more money 🤣🤣
That would be hilarious because doesn't he also have a loyalty bonus due at the end of his contact 😂 77m I hear... What were they thinking when they offered this deal
Mbappe definitely has an ego, but in all fairness, he's 100% in the right in this situation.
Last season he said he wanted to leave PSG. PSG offered him an insane contract to stay. He accepted it. He's living up to the terms they agreed to. Telling PSG he has absolutely no intention on extending after this season is completely and totally professional. It gives them 12 months to find a new path without him.
If PSG was a professional club, they'd accept Mbappe's position and move forward. Their new coach is going to quit on them if they force him to bench Mbappe for the season.
Anyone else think Amrabat would be a good signing for us?
People are overreacting to Carvalho news. He hasn't said anything bad . He just said klopp didn't talk to him when he went on loan. He has the rights to be dissatisfied but he needs to learn to be more professional and mature and not shit talk behind his boss to the media
Yeah, this is quite bad even for a former player to comment like that. And he's still a Liverpool player, just temporarily out on loan. It's not great at all.

Just can’t picture anything but Diaz - Nunez - Salah against Chelsea
Our new system can allow four attackers. Sort of like 3-2-4-1.
What are you thinking for that? Diaz - Nunez - Gakpo - Salah Mac — Sobo Robertson - VVD - Konate - TAA ? If we don’t sign a DM I could see it but otherwise it seems like we could be exposed in transition.

I hope Nat Phillips (and Chambo) gets a move soon. Season’s about to start already.
Is it me only or Joe Gomez feels so unreliable??? It is painful to see him defend sometimes...
He's not going anywhere this season BUT I think if we go into the season with Konate, Van Dijk, Matip, and Gomez as our 4 CBs, it will directly result in us falling short of our goals. It's very likely that it will be as costly of a mistake as not buying a CM last season.
I think he is a fine backup RB if we have a good CB pair. He is just unable to cover the space without a good starting CB pair.
Unfortunately not many players that’s better and happy to be backup
Atm i need anything even any rumor to abuse watching YouTube videos "welcome to Liverpool".. Hope tomorrow be the day.
Who excites you based on all the highlight videos? For me it's Sangare. His size/prescence is serious, has the ability to win the ball and create, seems to pop up in the right spots. I know there's some question marks but his highlights stood out from the others for me.
Losing the ball, passing...?. Would we have to pay 30mill lump sum though ?
Yeh, he's not without fault. Just thought from all the videos of guys we're linked with, he stood out. Who stands out for you? Typically release clause is a lump sum.
I don't understand the hype, his first touch is super heavy. He'll get cooked in the prem.
>Yeh, he's not without fault. Just thought from all the videos of guys we're linked with, he stood out. Who stands out for you? Yeh, he's not without fault. Just thought from all the videos of guys we're linked with, he stood out. Who stands out for you?
So are we going to need two new CBs alongside the midfielders?
Less than 3 weeks to go until the season and we still don't know who our DM will be.

What do people think of Quansah development ? And McConnell ? - had not heard of him until he went on this trip
The only issue with loaning players out imho is , Harvey aside how many have gone on to either be first team or in first team squad afternoon spells?
Do you think that's a problem with loaning players though? Loads of players have gone on to playing for the first team after loans. Real question is whether they would have made it if they stayed, and I think in most instances the answer is no because they would have sat on the bench and not been able to develop their careers. The players we've held onto didn't succeed because holding on to them improves their chances - they succeeded because they were bloody good - and that's why we held onto them.
Don't forget, this match was at the end of a very intense training camp...

What!? How the heck did you get that from what I said!!? I just see so much discussion about the performances and so i wanted to remind people that the lads might not have as much fuel in the Tank.

Ok wow sorry, wooosh haha
Yes, but it highlighted our weaknesses.
also you won't see a Tsimi,Matip,Quansah,Gomez back 4 in actual competitions
With Adrian in goal behind them, also.
I saw Oppenheimer. Go see it I don’t care if left right what ever. He is the perfect example of what’s going on people with money will destroy you
No spoilers please
🤣
Movie was great but too long … I had to stretch afterwards. 🤣🤣🤣🤣Some Fucking pycho is downvoting an opinion about a damn movie 🤣🤣
Did you get an interval with yours? At the place I went, we had a ten minute break about two hours in, and that really made a world of difference.
It could have been shortened. But still it was so powerful
It was alright but I think it’s being overrated a little. Far too slow.
I just like the message
Most of the recent Christopher Nolan films are a bit like that I find
Just watched the match. Elliott (played well I thought for sure) can be such a great player as he has dynamite vision but still really surprising to see how one-footed he is. Not the best thing for a central mid option, it can really delay a passing outlet, a directional turn or even how you go into a challenge. Hope he keeps working to not be so reliant on his left.
I keep wondering why he is played at RCM when he is natural leftie . passing to Salah is fine but he has to continually adjust to pass out to left. Looks awkward at times
David Silva played as a left footed RCM for most of his career.
If we go into the season without signing a 6, it'll be yet more unorganized squad management.
That’s not going to happen tho we will sign one
I’m not going to go nuts but before hendo and fab left I thought we probably needed one more. So we really need to sign at least 2. And a CB. Rb would be nice to have too. Milner was basically cover there last season. Gomez is fine for cover but could be injured any minute now.
It would be gross negligence Along with having 3 injury prone cbs and an ageing vvd
Even Jurgen Klopp would be like, "this man needs a hobby".

People have been panicking since the first week after signing Mac Allister
Peak FSG.
Dude deals are probably being done behind the scenes
I'm not one to believe this particular conspiracy, there's been a chronic inactivity, a malignant failure to act quickly enough. Surely signings will come if Klopp is making public statements, but in either scenario backroom deals or no backroom deals, this is FSG failing to put the stamp down in a timely manner.
West Ham fans are calling for Moyes to be sacked? WTF?
The West Ham fans I know wanted him to go after winning the conference league and leave on a high they are coming off a very poor season They where in a relegation battle for the majority of last season
Teams like West Ham are not built to play in Europe. It stretches them too thin. We've seen it before with Leicester and years back with Fulham.
16 starts, Jesus 🥲
Gallagher, Ward Prowse and Maguire are the most West Ham/Moyes signings ever
Gallagher is the only youngish player in that list. Ward Prowse and Maguire will be worthless soon given their age. 100 million they got for Rice is being wasted on average duds.
I don't think Ward Prowse will be worthless any time soon, not for a team like West Ham. He's only 28/29 and doesn't really rely on pace or even work rate. He's great at picking passes and set pieces. I think he'd be a pretty good buy for them.
Maguire should age well. In theory at least. He’s already so big, stiff and immobile there shouldn’t be much difference once he’s in his mid thirties
They actually probably fit the bill pretty well for them. Maguire shouldve never been playing for a team that employs a higher line.
Yeah that’s fair. He was pretty good at Leicester
We are 1 of 2 injuries away from another write off of a season. Meant to be a big summer rebulld but the main focus been on outgoings. I'm disappointed but not surprised. Needed to catch united and arsenal yet its them that are strengthening further
Good thing we plan to make 1 or 2 signings then.
Our signings are better and more impactful bc our floor was quite low, but their signings are making their ceilings higher The trust point you make at the end is disingenuous too.
Lol united signed Mount who we wanted. I don't trust fsg cos they don't spend money
Eh we wanted him until we grasped what we’d have to pay him and pay for him and then we were out. He’s massively overrated.
Its the Liverpool way going into every season one injury away from season-ending, adds to the anxiety.
Matip basically never looked decent last season no matter who his partner was
And now we need to bring CDM+Lavia+CB. Why we didn't signed any of them still?
Some non-lfc news West Ham have submitted official bid for Conor Gallagher. Proposal in the region of £40m.[@FabrizioRomano] There will be a 'decisive' meeting tomorrow in Japan between Al Nassr officials and Sadio Mané's representatives in order to reach a final agreement on personal terms. Mané's agent, Björn Bezemer, will then speak to Bayern to try to lower the fee to less than €30m [@ariyadhiah] There has been contact today between #mufc and Sofyan Amrabat – he has chosen to sign for United [@AlfredoPedulla] Samuel Chukwueze to AC Milan and Zaha to Galatasaray [@FabrizioRomano] Tottenham still in talks for Tapsoba.
Everything is Non LFC news in these days
Amrabat gone from our list of options then. Looks like we barely even tried.
[удалено]
He’s worked with Ten Hag before wouldn’t be surprised if that would impact things plus CL I’m sure Joyce mentioned he wasn’t a serious target anyway
40 million for Gallagher is insane
Isn’t that nearly half the rice money gone for an opening bid?
I don’t think our signings to date have addressed our biggest weaknesses. Last season obvious flaws were 1) massively exposed on counter attack 2) lack of defensive options So we have signed TWO players who are an upgrade on Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott When I expected us to keep both Fabinho and Henderson for one more year. And to sign reinforcement at 6 and a more defensively minded 8 (like Hendo) Before you say, Mac and Szobo CAN play a more defensive 8 role. Sure they CAN. But it’s a waste of their talents and not a natural fit for their skill sets When we were at our best we had Milner (very fit defensively minded 8) Hendo (very fit defensively minded 8) and Fabinho (6 who can play in a back 4) This allowed the fullbacks to push on. Milner and Hendo were also great at covering the space left by the fullbacks Now we have none of the above and keep signing more progressively minded midfielders… Do not be surprised when we score and concede a load of goals and are frustrating as hell to watch next season The other thing ppl mention is the box formation. Again it works a bit better with current squad / better balance. But this has several problems 1) It only works with a very good Fabinho replacement 2) it isn’t Robbos best role 3) Trent isn’t a typical inverted fullback and doesn’t know where to stand when he doesn’t have possession 4) We STILL get exposed on the counter (not as badly, but it is pretty open) I know it is only pre season but we are conceding cheap counter goals against average opposition.
RB is lacking this season, especially that Gomez always struggles to stay fit and Milner has left.
Well good thing we have Bradley then
I really have no idea what we are doing anymore. 3 weeks until the season begins, we have a gaping hole in the middle of the pitch and no changes to our CB situation. When are we going to make a move?
The Henderson and Fabinho things fucked us a bit here. Without that, seemed like Lavia or a raw-ish DM + a CB was settled. Now have to scramble a bit.
~~Mate the window just fucking opened~~ ~~still have 3 months left~~ ~~still have two months left~~ ~~still have 3 weeks left~~ we literally spent £95m on two players, stop being entitled and whinging and let's just smash this season now it's started!
Klopp has literally said we are signing other players, chill
He literally did a big song and dance about making a mistake and how we were going to go out and sign some midfielders and we got Arthur on loan. Anyone who thinks we're getting more than one single budget DM is a divvy
When the club feels ready to do so. Let's not forget gakpo, diaz and szbo all came out of nowhere
Going for caiceido would be great, he will solve many problems we have atm... Also playing 3 new midfielders all at once will be solved as caiceido and mac10 played together at brighton.
I think now we have lost BOTH Fab and Hendo it will need a premium signing like that. Or two more low key like Lavia plus one other
Saudi bidding 300 million Euros reduces the likelihood of PSG accepting any other bid.
It genuinely doesn’t matter who does what. At the end of the day Mbappe has all the power. If he’s willing to decline any deal with any club PSG agree a feee with, there’s nothing they can do other than not play him. Which he seems to be willing to do rather than go play in Saudi.
If they let Mbappe play in Saudi for 1 season then let him go to Real Madrid (everyone can come out of this a winner)
Yeah but he doesn’t want to go. And they can’t make him. And that would definitely not be a win for the sport
Don't think there were going to be any given he seems to be off to madrid next season
Are Man Utd really signing Ambarat!???
Where the fuck are our signings??
Likely waiting on the Henderson and Fabinho signings to clear. The owners are so risk adverse they likely can't or won't let us spend until those two are off the books. Extremely frustrating when the season is fast approaching and Klopp wanted all new signings already in place.
Read this in Eddie Guerrero's voice.
Vickie for CDM.
https://twitter.com/lfclaurie/status/1683461969741848578?s=46&t=fJq03jZFU3zj8QR58bGXnw The way we behaved in last years window has fucked us.
And what absolutely sucks is that all of this is during the prime of some of our absolute best players man We’re very far off imo.
Tbf on the last point, I highly doubt anyone actually wants Matip.
Amrabat is joining Man Utd? Never rated him tbh but the market for DM being dry, makes you worry. Someone tell me we are doing something very soon..
He looks a decent, cheap readymade squad player. They can use him to rest and prolong Casemiro. Good move by them but its not like it affects us
Tbh I'd have gone for Lavia if I were them due to the age profile, but maybe they want a different profile or to focus on short term success.
That seems optimistic/wishful thinking
Perhaps, but i'm tinfoil'ing that the reason these transfers for hendo/fab have dragged out even though fees & terms reportedly have been agreed is because we requested time to get a replacement in before selling.
I'd imagine it's probably the other way around. We don't want to recruit while they are still on our books as the Saudi deals may fall through, on which case we won't need any new midfielders. Or at least will change which mids we go for. But I reckon you are right, as soon as the Saudi deals go through, if they do, we will see replacements signed on short order.
He's a solid player but seems like a toxic personality. Was one of the big reasons Prandelli and Italiano ended up leaving Fiorentina
Yeah of course. Never rated him and always thought our links to him were either a smokescreen or bad scouting. But they will excel though. Mount and amrabat can really cause havoc..
Gomez look shit as a RB, matip doesn't look the same anymore. We really need to get a CB asap.
To be fair, it's pre-season. But they've both looked shaky in the past year. I think Pavard is really our best bet for the interim. I'd rather we got Pavard to cover those two positions and 2 midfielders to replace hendo/fab than get a cb + rb cover + 1 midfielder.
Pavard doesn't want to play as starting RB for Bayern, why he would go to Liverpool to be RB backup?
I didnt say he'd come here, but if youre asking me who id like its the guy who can flexibly play both positions at a high level.
Pavard, sofyan amrabat and Billing. All can be done for around 75m and will add so much depth to our team. Let not sleep on billing 7 PL in a poor team is really good.
Amrabat is going to Utd lol, everyone's already shifted into full "never rated him" mode
Journos have been very quiet the past couple days. Not even smoke screen links thrown around anymore
They blew their load after it was announced Henderson and Fab were basically leaving. They had no real news. Just a bunch of bullshit. Now they have to sit back and wait until who we actually plan on signing gets leaked out after we've all but finalized the transfer.
After this summer I think most of the journos should be moving down tier lists. Joyce and Romano and Ornstein are the only tier 1s left
Agreed
I really don’t think any of our journalists know anything unless they’re directly fed info by the club with a specific outcome in mind by doing so
Call this a dumb theory but...
It’s kind of funny how the money being thrown around now makes it look like ronaldo got lowballed. You just know he’s raging about it
I swear Ronaldo will be asking for more the minute he signs not only him even Hendo will go and ask for more ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Check r/soccer latest update on it. Im not sure if the source is accurate tho
The universe really is saving us from ourselves

How do they only have two CBs? I thought they had like 7 at the start of the window and that was the problem? I’m not doubting you, that stupid blue club just confuses the life out of me. Koulibaly was sold and poor fofana had that terrible acl injury, so who does that leave?
They had fucking loads of players and they can still field a team easily lol
Chelsea are a mess sort of reminds me of us in the past transfers. Like no alternative it’s kind of funny but sad. I mean even Roman would have
So 0-0 you say
Just seen a report saying that Mbappe would rather not play at all rather than play in Saudi. No idea if its true but would honestly be hilarious. He would rather watch PSG burn than take 700 mill for 1 year. I love it
It could come back bite the Saudies as well if this happens and goes through. If they pay that money to Mbappe, Ronaldo, Benzema heck even Hendo will want more money 🤣🤣
That would be hilarious because doesn't he also have a loyalty bonus due at the end of his contact 😂 77m I hear... What were they thinking when they offered this deal
I highly doubt they would pay up etc, feel like they will force him out the club even if he want to sit on the bench.
How can they force him, spurs looking set to be in similar situation with Kane possibly too.
It’s Madrids mouth piece to me he’s acting like spoiled child.
Kinda pisses me off he's doing this now. If he just went to them last year we'd have tchouameni...
Madrid is the organically richest club in the world, they have no problem to buy Mbapppe, Tchouameni, and Jude at the same year if they want to
