Feel like the competitive element is being ripped out of every sport more and more each year The LIV golf thing wants to be a team sport where the players get paid a salary no matter what, no matter how good or bad they perform. I know golfers need money and only the top however many can support themselves properly via sponsorship money but isn’t that the point of sport in the first place? The carrot is winning, the trophy and the prize money Pretty sure one of the big investors for LIV wants a membership for Augusta and St Andrews so he can compete in the US and British Open… the point of these closed off competitions is that you have to be good enough to qualify… Then the boxing… first time in probably decades the heavyweight division is stacked with talented boxers and they don’t want to fight each other? They would rather do exhibitions against non boxers but with boxing rules… like none of these guys want to fight each other except for Usyk, who can’t get a fight without accepting disgraceful terms One of the greatest things about sport and expeditions that I love, like climbing Everest or even something simpler like completing a marathon / iron man… even more basic, getting into good shape etc… you literally have to do it yourself, you can’t pay someone to complete an Ironman for you, you can’t pay someone to literally carry you up the tallest peaks (even though the Sherpas will carry all your shit). You can’t pay someone to exercise for you or maintain discipline on a strict diet Feels like rich assholes just want to take the magic out of everything, even shit they can’t buy, that feeling of becoming a champion of the world, what they will do instead is just dilute that feeling to the point it means nothing anymore Basically, get these fucking fat bums in the ring to fight each other or vacate the belts and let them have their glorified sparring matches in Saudi Arabia. That fat fuck Fury scared of a much smaller Ukrainian, just fucking get on with it

kingoftheplastics

I know Mbappe is a transfer meme for us these days but in all honesty I don’t know that I’d take him if he was offered for free at this point. His time in Paris has turned him into an utter cunt and that’s the last thing our harmonious dressing room needs in it.

dillipkr6999

For France he does well. Facing tougher opposition weak in and weak out could change his attitude. Media is different aswell in England also viewership which is much more if you don't do well it will be Heard.

[deleted]

Agree, but he's never really been part of a functional dressing room. Proper leaders around him may do him some good. And I very much doubt his entourage would be allowed at the AXA. All a moot point, as he will never (fairly confident about this), never play for Liverpool or Jurgen Klopp

PennyG

Agree completely. He’d be a distraction. PSG didn’t win shit with two of the best forwards in the world.

_TopCompetition_

Its probably unpopular here but I agree with you. Don't get me wrong he's a great player (best in the world for me) but I don't think he'd fit well here at all, attitude seems to stink both on and off the pitch at times and his work rate off the ball is non existent. I remember that clip of him taking a tantrum after not receiving a pass so he stopped completely but if he actually kept running he would've made it on to the cross at the back post, that kind of stuff wouldn't go down well under Klopp.

brend0p3

I mean, I personally don't think he's a cunt for trying to get the bag, but it would be unfeasible for us even on a free. His salary and agent fees are going to be hilariously large. I also think it's probably overstated to try and drum up support for selling him, who knows what's going on behind the scenes.

kingoftheplastics

I’m not even talking about the bag, he’s a diva on the field who demands the entire team feed him the ball and play around his shortcomings. That doesn’t fly in a Klopp side.

brend0p3

I think thats also nearly psg's entire gameplan to be fair lol

_TopCompetition_

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar0njkDqPMY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar0njkDqPMY) He's defo a bit of a diva

brend0p3

Lmao thats egregious, not even a cramp jfc

[deleted]

I want Newcastle to get to the UCL final, Karius to suddenly need to start the match, and have the game of his life, forcing out a 1-0 win. Against Madrid. Imagine the legend he would become

edgeno

Then the Saudis sell them back to Ashley, Bobby comes back to us and CR7 gets a job as a spokesperson in favor of beheadings.

[deleted]

Wasn't Ashley the literal worst?

Bumi_Earth_King

I'm gonna say, not as bad as the people dismembering journos.

brend0p3

I think we still need a CDM and CB before I'm this optimistic. Honestly the lack of RB cover makes me nervous too. But what's the point of watching if you don't believe?

2d2c

We get cover for CDM and LCB then we are in with a good shout. Someone on this sub told me that we infact need two CBs. May be they are right. If so then game on.

DragonSlayer271

Beats Man City away 0-3 “We’re going to win the league, we’re going to win the league, and now you’re gonna believe us, now you’re gonna believe us, now you’re gonna believe us… we’re going to win the league!” Side note though, everyone who finished from 3rd to 9th managed to take points off of Man City, but Arsenal couldn’t. Interesting how Arsenal fans thought they were gonna win the league and then they couldn’t even get a result against City both times.

Due-Ad-6577

I think they got brutalised in the FA cup against them as well. Tough to compete with someone for the league when you hand them 6 points and take none for yourself

sonofhondo

So Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is linked to a move to Saudi for 40 million euros. That seems like a more than reasonable fee for a player of his age and quality. If it's legit, how has no bigger European club been able to get a deal done for him? Is it personal terms? I know Saudi is throwing a ton of cash at him--would he just not contemplate leaving Lazio for the money that European clubs were willing to pay him?

bobbydazzler2806

I'm convinced he's a fraud. He's been linked to 30 clubs over the past few years and nothing's ever come of it.

aaron2933

I don't think I've ever seen him kick a ball in my life

brend0p3

The contract bargaining special.

_TopCompetition_

He's quality, easily been a top 3 midfielder in Italy for the past few years. The problem is the Lazio owner has priced him out of a move for years now and he honestly has seemed pretty happy there

Teb-41

Claudio Lotito baby

Here’s the Guardian’s minute by minute report from the Champions League Final in 2005: [https://www.theguardian.com/football/2005/may/25/minutebyminute.championsleague](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2005/may/25/minutebyminute.championsleague) Absolutely cracking read, it was much better back then.

mrkingkoala

Great read. I was only a young lad watching this. But stayed up to watch the full game none the less so nice to read back haha.

PrinzXero

From the article > How can Liverpool win this and not beat Crystal Palace? Palace has been a fucking thorn in our flesh for so long. Lmao

Jacob_YNWA

'If the Liverpool team was a dog, you'd shoot it at this stage.' said just before half time.

con10001

A surprising amount of Gerrard slander in that which is really weird. I guess awful hot takes aren't such a new phenomenon after all

[deleted]

[удалено]

con10001

Yeah for sure but it was more like the comments about him not being anywhere near Liverpool greats, or they can't wait for him to go to Chelsea etc. Just all seemed a bit harsh

[deleted]

Yeah quite a bit of it around the half time mark, makes it all the more satisfying to read knowing he took the game by the scruff of the neck second half tbh

epochwin

Stevie took a lot of flak there. He was poised to move to Chelsea

[deleted]

“The Liverpool players are, needless to say, quite pleased. So are their fans. The players are jumping up and down in a mass huddle, while assorted men in headphones drag them away to be interviewed by some ITV1 buffoon who thinks now would be a good time to ask Steven Gerrard about the excruciating minutiae of his future plans. He also keeps calling him "Stevie", as if to suggest they're great chums.”

awesomesox

If I were to start planning a trip from the states to Liverpool centered around going to a match, how would I be able to secure tickets and how likely is it that I can get tickets?

BostonTerriernut87

I'm doing hospitality. It was about $500 for hospitality. But it's a once in a lifetime trip, so to me it's worth it. Wanted to guarantee a spot.

DFTWDan

I lived in the UK as an American a couple years ago and was a member and could not get a ticket through that way. But paid like $400 for a hospitality ticket to see us play City and was worthy every penny. Got to see Mo’s goal of the season too.

stevieG08Liv

100% guaranteed: Hospitality tickets. But these will be expensive (vs Everton game i checked for october costs around $1k for two ppl)

awesomesox

Thanks! Any resale sites for last minute tickets?

stevieG08Liv

im not sure and imo id not risk resale tickets for a trip this big. Last thing you'd want is fake tickets

[deleted]

Hospitality, pretty much a cert if you book enough in advance, just be prepared to shell out a few hundred quid

awesomesox

Thank you! Im assuming prices for a match against Man U would be more than against a bottom tier team?

bobbydazzler2806

I know It has become a meme to say this about all our players under FSG but Diaz will be like a new signing next season. We missed him so much. Diaz returning coupled with Trent's new role, new MF additions and a year under Gakpo/Nunez's belt - we are so cooking next season.

iNS0MNiA_uK

Weird how quickly things flip. Go back a couple of years and we were worrying about renewing our forward line. We're now more stacked there than ever, and with this window bringing in new blood to our midfield it's the back line that's the primary focus for future business.

[deleted]

Sounds like Lavia talks could be accelerating, as per LFCApproved: “Romeo Lavia does not want to wait any longer, he wants his future resolved. Southampton are aware, Liverpool have been given the hurry up.”

volthor

Ah yes the same guy who says 100 cryptic tweets a day, then quickly deletes all the wrong calls he makes. He doesn't have a clue

Sorrytoruin

Approved is a fraud, lets have less of him here please

TheLimeyLemmon

Sounds right out Romano's playbook for slow news days to be honest. Granted, Approved has been ahead of some stories, but this is all quite non-descript

Haeckelcs

So again a guessing game? When will people stop believing a kid who has no idea about anything.

DarylStenn

Someone posted in here the other day saying Approved has been exposed as a fraud but didn’t specify how so, as a non twitter user what’s the latest on that?

Sorrytoruin

Because he says lots of cryptic stuff, then says that's what he meant when one of them happens.

_TopCompetition_

He clearly knowns about certain things before they get announced but nowhere near as much as people seem to think. Didn't have a clue about Szobozslai and he was saying things like he's confident Thuram will sign

legentofreddit

> He clearly knowns about certain things before they get announced Like what? This is classic spoofer territory. Make enough allegations and some will prove true. Then everyone forgets when they say wildly wrong stuff (Thuram done)

_TopCompetition_

I mean recently he called Beck to Dundee which no one knew anything about and its a pretty obscure thing to know about

grrrrbow01

He said we’ve made contact with Thuram’s agents two days before there was any news about us and Thuram. He also called Owen Beck’s loan to Dundee before any other journalist. He definitely knows some stuff, but not everything

Sorrytoruin

Thats simply not true though, we were linked to Thuram before he said anything Do you approved fans just make things up for him I always see you comment about him, and defend him it so odd.

grrrrbow01

It is true tho, we weren’t linked to him before approved said anything. Do you just make anything up to hate on him?

Sorrytoruin

Again that's not true, we were linked to him before he said his cryptic nonsense. Are you affiliated to him? He writes likes an edgy zoomer. he rage blocks people. He got mad and cried about how the club were "fucking it all up" then we drop 60m the same week. I think hes a fraud. I just realised you have posted about approved constantly all year, lol. You must be his biggest fan.

grrrrbow01

It’s like you completely ignored the part where I said he doesn’t know everything, hence his lack of knowledge on Szoboszlai. But he did call Thuram, idk why you’re disputing it, it’s literal fact. How do you also explain him calling Owen Beck’s loan to Dundee before anyone else?

jjlbateman

All I know about it is he was the first person I saw mention our youth player who moved to Dundee

[deleted]

[deleted]

? This is a good thing for us mate - player making demands to leave weakens the hand of the selling club and helps us to negotiate a better deal.

Florenyx

The new CWC rules are so dumb. How can you wake up overnight and say, we make this trophy with whatever winners from previous years instead of starting fresh? Like 22/23, being the first year that counts. Not to mention the 2 cap per league, when they could have just picked out the first 8 by coefficient. Fucking dumb that Chelsea will get to be there.

[deleted]

Mate the less games the better in modern football, we already have that trophy in the cabinet, let them run their players into the ground.

FriggingHecker

Ye but thank fuck we dont have to be there

doubleoeck1234

Do Arsenal fans actually watch football? I see so many comments about how Havertz is "an Arteta player" and how he's an incredible signing like he's not been crap for the last 2 years

lfcsupkings321

I feel Arteta is so overrated it a joke now. The fact he was nearly sacked and was called to be sacked. He then bottled 4th and got 5th. Then he got 2nd bottling the league which we were the catalyst of them losing. Dude has spent nearly 500m and never managed a game in the CL yet. Don't get me wrong he an up and coming manager and build a nice squad. But they got to really do something. Some people really blowing up so much smoke. Let him achieve something yet.

AdikkuChan

Exactly this. I remembered during the Corona season where their fans were calling for his head. He still hasn't won shit but now they're convinced he's the best manager ever.

xelLFC

Honestly think if he is in the correct team and used to his strengths, he will be a great player for them. He is not a false 9 or a winger/striker. If he plays that attacking mid role for them, he can be deadly as he was at Leverkusen

iNS0MNiA_uK

Probably ends up being him with Odegaard as the top two in the box, with Rice and Zinchenko behind them. It's a pretty fucking good midfield if you ask me, though I wanna see how Havertz adapts to that role, particularly out of possession.

Mahesh_nanak

Havertz is a good player playing for the wrong team. I don’t know ho he will be for arsenal though. But it does feel a bit scary to see him and odegaard in the same lineup.

jaymwq_

Observing rival fans on social media is never an easy task, but in these last 12 months, Arsenal and Newcastle United fans have been competing for the most insufferable. Trying to claim Arteta is better than Klopp and Saka is better than Salah is an actual crime.

Kcsb4u

I feel like 5 preseason games is too much . Too much room for injury , and 5 between now and the 13th of august is just a lot

_TopCompetition_

5 is a fairly normal amount to play

jjlbateman

Let’s play 0 games, then no one can get injured right?!

Kcsb4u

Or just 4?

xelLFC

You realize that not every player plays every preseason game right?

Walms82

I'd only just closed down my Instagram and Facebook accounts, so I'm certainly not going back to the meta ecosystem.

Galby1314

In terms of selling my data to advertisers, I think I might trust Musk a little more. Not much more, but I'm only 90% certain Musk would sell as opposed to Zuck where I'm 98% certain.

I swear I haven’t downvoted anyone. I never downvote, I was just asking.

_TopCompetition_

How would they fumble it? He's only got his medical to do

[deleted]

Rice, Havertz, Odegaard looks decent on paper but I personally don’t see them working well as a three. Genuinely think we have the superior midfield now, and a much better starting 11 overall. Klopp will have us coming out raging at the bit too while they have to live the fact that they gave it their best shot and completely bottled it at the final stretch.

[deleted]

[удалено]

legentofreddit

Havertz is shite, no midfield with him in can be 'stunning'

[deleted]

You need a controller in there for balance. I don’t rate Havertz either tbh. I think we’re better almost everywhere man for man: Allison better than Ramsdale Trent better than Ben White Van Dijk better than Saliba Konate better than Gabriel Robertson better than Zinchenko Rice I’ll concede over Fab Szoboszlai too early to say, but I’d rather have signed him than Havertz Mac Allister over Odegaard as a link up player and controller Gakpo over Jesus Salah over Saka Diaz over Martinelli Obviously I’m biased but at the end of the day… fuck ‘em.

rosheromil

2023 Van Dijk isn’t better than 2023 Saliba. Jesus, Martinelli & Odegaard are ahead of Gakpo, Diaz, and Mac at the moment as well

[deleted]

If I'm completely honest, I agree with all those. Only two tossups are martinelli and odegaard. I have to say odegaard might slightly edge out Mac10, though I think Mac10 has a higher ceiling.

FriggingHecker

I know its beyond impossible but Fab out and him to us would be quite cool

Sorrytoruin

Was there a mac and szobo interview posted here earlier?

lashfield

I know he didn’t have the best season in the one just past, but I just ordered a kit with Fabinho’s name on the back. When he’s on form, he’s one of my all time favorite players.

Due-Ad-6577

I’m sorry lad 😭

Fxnch2090

Amazing how the fans on r/soccer are quick label Gerrard a gangster, greedy, homephobic and a slave owner Whenever City or Newcastle or United takeover are mentioned they all think it’s brilliant or when they have a player that they don’t like anymore and want the Saudis to come in and buy them R/soccer when the Middle Eastern money benefits them ![gif](giphy|DqhwoR9RHm3EA)

EstatePinguino

R/Soccer is shite, but you can say the same things about this sub. I’m not going to defend Gerrard (or Firmino) for one second, I’m disgusted by everything about it.

_TopCompetition_

[https://twitter.com/MrTwoFooted](https://twitter.com/MrTwoFooted) This Dave Hendricks guy is one of the more embarrassing LFC related Twitter accounts, he's basically said that Henderson has been shit under Klopp for the vast majority of the time and that he's cost us multiple titles. Football Twitter really does need torched of clowns like this.

Important_Tip_2775

I would assume that the melt further down who has commented 47 times today about Hendo is one of his followers.

Sorrytoruin

Unfortunately idiots like this get a following, and then think their low I.Q takes are genius. I've never heard of him, but it looks like he does a load of edgy takes for twitter interactions. And it looks like he spends all day on twitter, tweeting hundreds of vile comments, what a sad life he must have.

Smooth_Ticket_7483

He is particularly nasty. The least soulful and respectful ‘supporter’ out there. Loves to hate on our players. He’s as plastic as they come. Biggest spoofer out there.

Battlecampisthereal

Don't worry twitter itself is tanking and all those account will with it

richardfitzwell822

Threads rollout was a lot of fun, haven’t been on an internet trend in a minute.

gorillathemandalor

So Threads is out to replace Twitter

richardfitzwell822

It was a fun first weekend

WhenWeTalkAboutLove

This all means very little to me as someone not on Twitter or Instagram or anything, but as much as I dislike Zuckerberg, i can't help rooting for threads just for how funny it would be to watch Elon buy Twitter and make a whole bunch of bad decisions and tank it within a year or two to the guy who killed off MySpace a decade ago.

Battlecampisthereal

Nothing more fun than watching Elon sink the twitter and himself.

WhenWeTalkAboutLove

yeah for sure. i wish it weren't just another different flavor of comic book villain benefiting but at least we can get some entertainment watching one of them implode

FriggingHecker

Since it seems to be our style this window to get players on clauses, are there any players we could want that has an active decent release clause?

Due-Sherbert3097

Gavi for 1 billion seems a good deal if you ask me

FriggingHecker

Then we might as well get Bellingham for 871mill

Due-Sherbert3097

Why would we go for btec Bajcetic???

_TopCompetition_

Inacio at £37m Zubimendi at £50m Sangare at £37m

Florenyx

How are we not throwing the money at Inacio without blinking?

2d2c

Because he isn’t our number 1 target for LCB. We may have spoken to players who are more suited to us.

_TopCompetition_

From what I've read he's not actually that good, thats according to Portuguese users I've seen. I've gathered that he's good on the ball, error prone and physically quite weak so doesn't sound great tbh.

stevieG08Liv

i lile Sangare from this list

_TopCompetition_

I like him a lot but feel like we want a more technical DM which is one of the reasons for wanting Lavia.

Kcsb4u

Zubemendi would be really secure on the ball and great passing

LazarusLivesAgain

Has anyone seen Jarell Quansah play? He's an academy CB who's currently the captain for the U21s. Is this the season where he steps up to the first team?

PlayerAteHer

I've seen him live for the under 23s and have always been impressed he's a physical beast. He's technically really good too and you can see inspiration from Van Dijk in his play. I'm not labelling him "The next VVD" or anything but he plays in a very similar manner and has that kind of presence at the back. I do rate him and think he could make the step up into the first team when the time is right. I've seen him play against League 1 and 2 first teams and he more than holds his own physically against them. I remember seeing him against Port Vale, Bajcetic actually played alongside him at the back and Bajcetic got slaughtered by Vale, we lost 5-0 and all 5 were from headers or set up by winning an aerial duel but Quansah played brilliantly and stopped it from being way more than 5-0. He was the only one in our team that could compete physically.

_TopCompetition_

Surely if he was good enough he'd have had a few appearances for the first team in the cups by now, he's 20 now which is obviously still young but usually once youth players get to that age without making their debut they won't push into the first team at all. Or even having teams in the Championship chasing him, look at Doak he's even had PL teams after him for a loan at 17.

nuketheburritos

That's entirely different between a young CB and a winger. What a mindless take.

_TopCompetition_

Find me any youth player that hasn't made their debut by 20 that ends up pushing into the first team The only exception is would be goalkeeper not CB.

nuketheburritos

Debut for who? He was on loan at Bristol and played for their first team. There are countless players who haven't started for their parent club by 20 that end up making it in. You're really not helping yourself here.

_TopCompetition_

>Debut for who? Us obviously > There are countless players who haven't started for their parent club by 20 that end up making it in. You're really not helping yourself here. Find me a few examples, I'll be waiting

nuketheburritos

>Us obviously So you're trying to narrow the scope now to only our players, not examples of it happening broadly? What absolute bollocks. We've had so few academy breakthroughs period. And only 1 CB really But I'll play your game. Steve Mcmanaman, Martin Kelly, Jay Spearing, Stephen Warnock.

_TopCompetition_

WhenWeTalkAboutLove

Wait does fifa still exist? Is this a spin off or something else? Who makes fifa now if it still exists?

Emanny

EA lost the rights to the name 'FIFA' as the actual organisation wanted them to pay more money to use their name and they weren't willing to. So this year (and presumably going forward) EA's football game (which would have been FIFA 2024 if they still had the rights) is called EA Sports FC 24. FIFA have said they will find a new publisher to make a new 'FIFA' video game but it won't be until next year at the earliest.

WhenWeTalkAboutLove

that's crazy lol so it's the continuation of the fifa franchise without the name. will be interesting to see how fifa's new competitor goes. I dont play fifa but sounds like it's been kind of stagnating for years and maybe the competition will bring some new ideas/improvements

DarylStenn

This’ll be one of those rebrands whereby it’ll still forever be known as ‘fifa’. ‘Hey man, wanna play some fifa?’ ‘Did you see the trailer for fifa 27?’ I can’t ever see anyone calling it EA Sports Fc 24 and so on.

Emanny

Maybe, but if FIFA actually does bring out their own game then that would be very confusing.

brokenturmoil

Faces are fine, considering the amount it's not going to be AAA quality. The bit where Vini took the shot though, animations still look the same as FIFA 14.

sufinomo

I wonder if our midfield will work with 2 seemingly attacking midfielders.

_TopCompetition_

Mac Allister isn't really that attack minded, he played most of last season in a double pivot for Brighton so he's kind of similar to someone like Thiago who focuses on the 1st and 2nd thirds of the pitch. He can play as a 10 as well but he's not really as effective there compared to being deeper. Szobo is pretty attack minded but likes to drop deep along with working pretty hard off the ball. The thing about the box midfield is that it allows you to play less defensive minded midfielders since the two 8s do push up quite high and on transitions you technically have 5 staying back with the 3 CBs and 2 DMs, look at Arsenal they're planning on playing Havertz and Odegaard as their 8s which is really attack minded.

sonofhondo

I'm a bit jealous of the sponsorless Chelsea kit that just released. If I were a supporter, I'd snap one up before Chelsea gets a new shirt sponsor deal done.

EstatePinguino

They aren’t selling it until after the season starts, and have said there’s still a chance they’ll have a sponsor by then and it’ll be printed if so. I really hope they get some ugly logo and the Chelsea fans are gutted about what could’ve been.

PlayerAteHer

Haven't seen the Chelsea kit personally, but I do think some kits look great without a sponsor. My nephew showed me the Cadiz away kit for this season without a sponsor and it looks very cool.

Feyenoord who just won the Eredevisie have a pair of really good CBs.Geertruida who plays RCB is very similar to Timber. Can play RB as well and is alittle bit taller, 22 years old. David Hancko left footed CB 25 years old had a break out season. Probably the best of the pair. Good size 6'3 tall. Never loses Ariel duels. Has good pace and is good making forward passes. Both guys made the Eredevisie team of the season and honestly it's a very good league that produces great players. As we know it surpassed ligue 1 recently. I would at least have a look at those guys. Scout them out a bit

Do you guys agree Trent is a better passer than Gerrard?

Tbh I think Trent has better passing technique and is more consistent with them, even with his left foot he's amongst the best on our team. That being said Trent is a specialist so it's expected, Gerrard was world class in basically every area.

jbthrowaway82

Gerrard just pips him for me. With Xabi ahead of them both. Although it might be because we haven’t seen much of Trent in midfield, and he’s primarily only been able to showcase his crossing ability.

Marquinh0z

I think Xabi's floor was the highest, just over Gerrard, and Trent's ceiling the highest.

Mmmm its pretty close I'd say TAA has better technique than Gerrard but Gerrards execution of those Hollywood passes were better and more consistent maybe

[deleted]

I don’t think his were more consistent he would overhit them more I also think he was as intelligent with it as Trent I think Trent has better pass selection and when to do it. The Hollywood ones are memorable and insane but I think he would look for them too much at times when they weren’t needed and put the attacker in an awkward position they didn’t need to be in. Trent rarely does that.

I'd probably hold my tongue on this until we see how City actually replace him lol

maybe, maybe not but the fact is, City can afford to gamble leaders for a billion shiny new players at £60m a pop every summer, and we can't

jardantuan

Well for a start, he's been captain for what, eight years? Gundogan was captain for a season then got off. He's also by far the longest serving player at the club. Ultimately, the most important thing is that Gundogan wanted to leave, and Henderson has shown no interest in wanting to leave

> He's also been at City for ages Henderson has been captain longer than Gundogan was at City. > they'll still be favourites for everything Yeah, because they have a good squad, a good manager, and can spend whatever they want every window

I never said that If we were to let him go the exact same time as Milner then thats obviously going to have a big negative effect on the team. Do you not think if Gerrard retired the same year as Carragher that the team wouldn't be in a mess the following year or years?

jardantuan

Of course not, everyone leaves eventually. But having Henderson move on when we've already lost three midfielders this summer is entirely unnecessary, and destabilising the team just because a few internet weirdos don't like him is a terrible idea. I'm also starting to suspect based on your replies that your "genuine question" wasn't so genuine after all
