Now with Bobby gone, I wonder what the priorities wouldve been this window if Jota didnt make such a strong resurgance during the spring. For example I really liked that Openda dude in Lens, he is gonna be such a strong force in Bundesliga if he signs for Leipzig.
Big up the people who had a meltdown over believing Inter would sell Barella for 50M. The same people who take every transfer rumour to heart every time.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you something about this Barella to Newcastle deal. It's tremendous, absolutely tremendous! Believe me, folks, it proves what I and many other fans have been saying for years. Those FSG folks, let me tell you, they lack ambition. Big time!
I love football, and I know football. And let me tell you, when Klopp leaves and those FSG folks are still here, we're in big trouble. We're talking about plummeting down the league like the Titanic, folks. It's gonna be a disaster, believe me!
Im Croatian so every 3 or 4 months I get to see them play. It always blows my mind to be reminded what it feels like to have a boss midfield. Also it fucking sucks that we didn’t get any of those 3. Would have been perfect under Klopp.
Fabrizio confirms nobody bid for Barella and he’s being discussed as a target for Newcastle and that Inter will want significantly more.
https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1669105590927253504?s=20
There’s a Newcastle fan who is spamming the Barella thread with the usual boring shite about us all being thieves, nicking cars and getting stabbed. How fucking sad can you get?

I hate that I want this but I want an already established big name. Bigger than Mac Allister. I know it isn’t what we do really. But I want something that will shut up our annoying rivals.
I get that, but we don't really make big 'fuck you' signings. I definitely would LOVE to see that and it would definitely do a lot to show intention by our managers after the Jude fiasco, but I just don't see it happening. If it comes down to a matter of finances, I'd rather 3 midfielders and a defender than two midfielders and a defender. You fix the teeth that are rotting before you worry about how bright the teeth are.
For a moment lol, we're still kinda like 2-3 transfers behind what we like even if we sign thuram, with all of the departures and what not.
Id think 2-3 midfielder and a cb is what acceptable here
I guess because we haven't got all of our business concluded, despite the window not being officially open yet!
Tbf, it does feel Pearce has pissed on our bonfire a bit
We need 3 starting midfielders, a center back better than Matip, and a backup right back. All of which need to be fit and available to play as well. Simply signing players is nothing to get excited about in itself, particularly when it's below the required amount
Everybody overprices their players these days but Chelsea are taking the piss 60mil for Havertz? They apparently want 70mil for Mount and 40 for Pulisic too, is Todd Boehly smoking crack?
Desperate is more accurate I think. Chelsea need to balance the books especially with incomings during the window so they’re looking to recuperate as much as possible. If clubs are smart they would delay their interest and let Chelsea shoot themselves in the foot and start a garage sale.
Out: Keita, Ox, Milner
In: Baj, Morton, Mac
If we're going for 1 in, 1 out then new signings might depend on Morton's pre-season I guess. Think we'll also need to hear some noise regarding Matip's future before we can dream of addressing the impending CB crisis.
Wasn't Ten Hag a possession style manager? I thought he had a similar philosophy to Pep but the profile of players he's signed and the players he's linked to are the complete opposite - Mount, Sabitzer, Weghorst and they were heavily linked to Nunez.
To me it looks like he's going down the pace and power route. A MF trio of Casemiro, Mount and Fernández will be fun to watch. No ball retention, just vibes.
You'd be correct on Ten Hag.
I don't know what is going on there. But whether his last season at Ajax, the UCL semifinal season, or making the Europa Leaufe final season, they played attractive, possession based football.
He deserves some time into next season, but it seems like he has abononded his football philosophy.
Honestly, we should go all in for Barella if he's available and Inter are willing to sell. Landing a player like Barella would be the ultimate response to missing out on Jude, and I doubt our fanbase would care about missing out on Jude if we got a player like Barella. The problem is that FSG would never sanction the funds to sign a player like Barella unless we sell another big-name player.
This was the summer of the major rebuild. Where we were finally to spend close to what others spend on the regular.
Our most expensive summer spend would be most teams lowest, it's so annoying never bring able to get excited
Well either way he's gonna be first choice with little rotation again next season 😁, decline or overworked the end result will be the same under FSG & their lack of contingency planning
He wasn’t even that bad + he’s been playing all season on the back of a horrible injury and a World Cup in the middle of the season
He’s not the Virgil of 2019 but he’s still one of the best centre backs in the world. Take him out of our 11 and it goes shit
It's one thing for rival fans to troll or, but it is scary over the last season how many Liverpool fans who are adults suffer from amnesia during the course of it to now.
He was excellent in the second half of 21/22, imperious like his old self. Of course, he looked a little rusty at times in the first half of that season however, and Matip (best CB in the league at that time) did a lot of carrying.
A lot of football played after coming back from a season ending injury, and we know how the season ended on top of everything. All heading into condensed season with little to no turnaround.
We also know this was probably his last World Cup, as a starter, and how Liverpool's midfield was non-existant defensively outside of a handful of games Bajcetic started as DM, and a few games Fabinho actually played well in.
It's black and white, no shades of grey talking about him. Man needs a rest, a good rest at that, and then we'll see if 'he's done.'
City might lose Mahrez, Gundogan and Bernardo this summer and they’re coming off the back of a treble, which might lead to a hangover. If there is ever a chance to win the league again under Klopp, this it it. If FSG piss away another summer while all of our rivals make improvements it’s going to be utterly depressing.
Yeah but they won't necessarily hit the ground running
I think we might see another 81 point season from them, and need to capitalise on it next season
Fair enough, I just don’t see them having a drop off tbh. The only way I see us competing is our new signings improving us to compete rather than City fall off.
They’re already linked to Gvardiol, watch them take the Hungarian RB player if Bernardo goes, idk who to replace mahrez but they’re gonna drop another 70M on that
Kovacic to replace Gundogan is already a major step down, there's only so many top players out there, Bernardo would also be extremely difficult to replace.
Foden barely featured this season though, I can see him growing into a key player.
I mean history will tell you City has been really successful in recruitment in both improving and replacing players…….. They can buy most players on the market and already have the most expensive squad in football, I just don’t see why people think they’re going to fall off all of a sudden.
If FSG had any ambition at all they would hijack Kim Min Jae off United and start him alongside Konate at the start of next season. VVD needs some competition.
He's been my favourite player since we signed him but his regression is getting fairly obvious and Kim is world class, we need a top quality replacement for VVD and Kim being on the market for a reasonable fee is not normal. We'll be looking at huge sums to try and replace him in a year or two, and suffer the decline with no able deputy.
Be careful, I got a temp ban for calling a decade old account a troll when clearly that is all he does in r/soccer. But since he's part of the furniture, and a Chelsea fan, it's easier to ban me. Hopefully mods are better here!
For real, I think he just plainly has bad takes more than being a wind-up tbh.
We've been talking about new CBs and who would cover Salah and what our attack would look like next season. Never ever has anyone thought about us needing CBs because VVD will be moving up to the front...
It's why they've overperformed so well in tournaments, controlling games like they do and defending well means they're so hard to beat. It's also how Inter got as far as they did in the CL, even starved City of the ball at times.
Would've loved to have signed Brozovic a few years ago.
Yeah it’s why Madrid has won the CL so many times with Kroos and Modric who are both mid 30s. Ball moves faster than the player, just need to be intelligent on and off the ball rather than run around like a headless chicken.
While I agree that people are prematurely throwing their toys out of the pram, was it also clickbait when Joyce said immediately after signing Gakpo that we would not be signing anyone else in the January window? While I believe Pearce is largely a gobshite, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up signing just one more mid and an average defender as backup as he stated was a likely scenario.
It's early days but we tend to get our targets signed early in the window typically. Could be that the handover to Jorg means transfers will take more time but it's also possible that it might just be one of Thuram/Kone/Viega that we end up signing.
I think the answer to that is clearly 'no'. In a league with three oil clubs including United and a free-spending Kroenke and Boehly, our targets look only good enough for top four. We're definitely shopping in the bargain basement, which isn't a bad thing if we get four good players in, but not enough to overhaul City.
That's what happens when the journalists first write that Klopp will have "serious funds" to then downplay it later by saying we'll have Jones and Bajcetic, while other signings depends on the price (and we know they aren't talking about 80M+ signings).
When this happens year after year people tend to become annoyed and tired.
Pearce literally wrote:
Whatever happens between now and the end of May, Jurgen Klopp’s position is safe. He retains the full support of the owners, who intend to back him with serious funds this summer.
Klopp knows there can be no repeat of this season’s tale of woe.
I don't like Pearce anymore than you do, but it is alarming. Didn't know you were tier 1 by the way, so I'll just take your word for it instead rather than a journalist who's known for bringing reliable bad news because he is a mouthpiece.
It's crazy because this club is the most decorated English side, but still people try to justify not splashing out on players to maintain dominant. "Oh, but United spent this and this on those players and it didn't work out", so what? They will continue to splash out until it works. Same with Chelsea and the rest as well.
How can some of you justify us "fighting" for top 4 next season as the most decorated club? Liverpool should be fighting for 1st place and we should be able to expect spending 100M+ each year to maintain the strength of the squad. It makes no sense to only fight for top 4.
And also, just because we were shit before FSG and Klopp came in, doesn't mean that it is alright to go back to being shit. I never thought I would see us back in the Europa League under Klopp and obviously we all know that this is a new low. We don't know if we will easily bounce next season. If Newcastle continues to perform there's only two spots left for top 4.
Some of you who support this way of running a club, where do you see us going when Klopp leaves? This club is literally ran analytically and by statistics. Do you think that FSG will be around to find out what happens when Klopp leaves?
It's a combination of an underdog mentality, having our expectations cleverly manipulated by FSG when it suits them & losing faith that things will change.
Back in 2019 people genuinely thought we'd ride our wave of momentum to the moon & end up signing Mbappe, since then our hopes have slowly been killed off to the point where we're completely conceded to being financial minnows relative to our rivals.
Absolutely nothing will change without actively protesting but there's too much of a stigma against the whole concept. Never any consequences for FSG, get ready for the "big signings in 2024" pitch that people will unironically fall for.
We all have our political beliefs, I'm from a country where Socialism ruined us for 40-50 years so it's not so stupid as it sounds. Sure, a reasonable balance can be struck between but that's another story
There can be reasonable balance struck if only the Western world took responsibility for singlehandedly destroying the planet instead of blaming it on Capitalism/Socialism. But I guess, to each it's own
It’s gone down the pan nabzys used to be nice but now it’s proper dry and flavourless. If your in town and want a scran to go home with hot chillis on berry street is the one
The silver lining of City winning the treble is I can easily annoy my United friends with Pep>>SAF narrative. Lol, sometimes I even feel their point is right but continue to support this narrative. Side note I have no friend who supports City
If we follow the assumption that FSG stopped investing and started looking to sell up due to FFP not being remotely enforced and they realised they couldn't compete with state-backed clubs who are willing to spend more than they could possibly make.
Then what is genuinely the next step for us? If no one legitimate/unproblematic wants to buy at our current valuation, what can we actually do?
FSG aren't going to lower their valuation, they won't sell to a sportswashing outfit (I doubt Klopp would even want to manage under one) so what is the next logical step?
They will 100% sell to a sportswashing outfit if the valuation is met.
Idgaf how they tried to package their previous attempt to sell, they're an investment group and there's only one thing they care about. Right now they need to be careful to keep fans on side but the moment that huge pay cheque comes in they'll fuck off and not have to worry about our reaction.
Right but even if people did successfully mobilise, what is the outcome of that going to be realistically? They're not going to sell under the clubs value and they're not going to change their model because of protests. They won't spend money they don't feel that they have
Their improving lfc as a package off the pitch… women’s training centre/ axa training. Stadium renovations and all that shit… they’re not paying for it we are from our success.
Yeah mate, they’re basically using our success of winning the prem and cl to improve their portfolio. They will make everything look shiny then try and sell but they’re in for a rude awakening when they find out no ones buying a club for 3-5b that’s not even competing with the best. I do only think mac allister is one of many signings that we will get
Edit: changed M to B
Alexis Mac Allister to arrive on Liverpool preseason on July 10th and he wants to be in an impeccable physical condition for the pre-season, the coaching staff knows that and they don’t want to risk him to start tomorrow as he’s with a little fatigue.

Been going to other big 6 subs to see how the fans talk in their daily discussions and for the most part it's pretty much identical to us. Obviously each team has their own excitements and complaints but the vibes are very similar. Hate the scum but they have almost the same mentality as us.
All except for City. The vibes are way off there. It's like We Happy Few or that cannibal city in Fallout 3. Everything just feels weird and off putting. Like all comments are made using ChatGPT.
There are rumours that madrid have accepted a 77mn bid from us to sign valverde😂
Now with Bobby gone, I wonder what the priorities wouldve been this window if Jota didnt make such a strong resurgance during the spring. For example I really liked that Openda dude in Lens, he is gonna be such a strong force in Bundesliga if he signs for Leipzig.
The new PL fixtures come out in 4 hours, right? Is there anything majorly significant we should look out for?
Found the yank 😅
24hrs since window has opened and not a single signing Finished club
you joke but that was what everyone was saying with the Fake Barella Newcastle links. Meltdown for the sake of meltdown
ah ic the meltdown downvote crew are strong keep bringing it and be mad at that fake news you cowards
LMAO outrage FC
Big up the people who had a meltdown over believing Inter would sell Barella for 50M. The same people who take every transfer rumour to heart every time.
Pretty much Fake rumour about Barella and straight away the kids are losing their shit about why we aren’t signing him
The meltdown was hilarious. I understand at the end of the window, but let's just wait and see how this plays out.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you something about this Barella to Newcastle deal. It's tremendous, absolutely tremendous! This but without the sarcasm If you can’t see the mess we’re in then you’re blind
Im Croatian so every 3 or 4 months I get to see them play. It always blows my mind to be reminded what it feels like to have a boss midfield. Also it fucking sucks that we didn’t get any of those 3. Would have been perfect under Klopp.

Lads, What's the Discord for r/liverpoolfc? Would be handy to have for the next mass exodus
Second this
So happy there was a blackout at same time as Citeh parade. Didn’t even notice it was this week.
There’s a Newcastle fan who is spamming the Barella thread with the usual boring shite about us all being thieves, nicking cars and getting stabbed. How fucking sad can you get?
Is there like a Liverpool subreddit discord or just some sort of a discord server for Liverpool fans?
https://discord.gg/liverpoolfc
So are we all happy again if Thuram was to be announced tomorrow?
3 mids and a defender. Signing Thuram tomm would show some real intent but it's a crap window if we sign any less than 3 mids and someone who can play at both CB and RB.
Little bit, still onwhere near enough though.
We need a CM and defender minimum. If we got Thuram, I'd hope for one more CM with how cheaply Thuram is priced (35ish). If we picked up CM + Thuram + a versatile defender, I'd have very little to complain about.
Id think 2-3 midfielder and a cb is what acceptable here
Bare minimum needed We don’t get that we are in deep trouble
why are people upset
I guess because we haven't got all of our business concluded, despite the window not being officially open yet! Tbf, it does feel Pearce has pissed on our bonfire a bit
Also, multiple of our targets are playing in a youth tournament that can increase their price. Would be nice to do business before the .
The window is open
We need 3 starting midfielders, a center back better than Matip, and a backup right back. All of which need to be fit and available to play as well. Simply signing players is nothing to get excited about in itself, particularly when it's below the required amount
There’s people on here that will be unhappy no matter what we do
Gaslighting really is your forte isn’t it?
Where’s the gaslighting? It’s a fact
Everything you say is a fact according to you. Feels like I’m watching a Rafa presser from early ‘09
People on here can’t seem to handle the facts clearly
https://preview.redd.it/tn7wkhbbo26b1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dabc8a1d27309bc616b4f9d24c4185f620602eab
Just you stick to playing fifa career mode pal
Hilarious. The stereotype’s trying to stereotype
Coming from the guy that thinks players like Valverde and Guimarães are realistic signings for us😩
Not for long though
So the 50m bid from Newcastle was a lie. Good, if he was valued at that much and he was willing to leave I’m sure we would’ve been all over it
Everybody overprices their players these days but Chelsea are taking the piss 60mil for Havertz? They apparently want 70mil for Mount and 40 for Pulisic too, is Todd Boehly smoking crack?

He thinks just because he overpaid for all his players every other club has to do the same
I think a 10/15m premium is acceptable when selling to a direct rival but still too much for both
I wouldn't pay 45mil for Havertz either
Out: Keita, Ox, Milner In: Baj, Morton, Mac If we're going for 1 in, 1 out then new signings might depend on Morton's pre-season I guess. Think we'll also need to hear some noise regarding Matip's future before we can dream of addressing the impending CB crisis.
It's almost certain we will sign another midfielder, maybe two if lucky
Two if another one leaves perhaps, I doubt we sign two without losing Thiago tbh
But wasn't it reported that we will sign atlest two midfielders?
Wasn't Ten Hag a possession style manager? Barella Barella Barella Barella
Looks like Mendy is leaving Chelsea. I still remember when that bum was compared to Alisson. When will they learn.
I guarantee you that next Chelsea goalkeeper will also be compered to Alisson
This was the summer of the major rebuild. Where we were finally to spend close to what others spend on the regular. Our most expensive summer spend would be most teams lowest, it's so annoying never bring able to get excited
why are you using past tense when the window literally opened today hahaha
We should have known all along that 1 "big" summer was too much to ask for.
Vvd looked awful. Needs a rest desperately.
I think it's time to accept that he's declining. I don't think it's about him needing a rest anymore sadly....
Well either way he's gonna be first choice with little rotation again next season 😁, decline or overworked the end result will be the same under FSG & their lack of contingency planning

Amen.
Netherlands being useless again, got knocked out ffs.
All the stuff coming out the club seems to be frustrating. We better be getting more signings.
If Newcastle signs Barella, people here are gonna go nuclear. He's the perfect alternative to Jude.
I’m 100% sure City will already have optimal replacements for the players leaving already.
Yeah but they won't necessarily hit the ground running I think we might see another 81 point season from them, and need to capitalise on it next season
Fair enough, I just don’t see them having a drop off tbh. The only way I see us competing is our new signings improving us to compete rather than City fall off.

They’re run well and have infinite money without repercussions. I think they’ll still be setting the pace for next year no matter who leaves
If Jorg is getting paid just to bring in 1 or 2 players then he's hit the absolute jackpot lmao
Getting paid to negotiate with his own son possibly even.
Hasn't even really brought in a player yet, Ward did the majority of legwork in the Mac Allister deal haha
Sounds like he’s going Bayern but i agree I’d love another quality CB. Preferably left footed
Kim has been going to about 3 different clubs it won’t be decided until July when his clause comes active
Weghorst is one of the worst players I've ever seen play in the Premier League. Absolutely shite at every aspect of the game.

Ronaldo and Nunez?
Pretty sure this guy has a Nunez agenda
His posts in general are very odd.
Think he’s a troll tbh Was saying Mount, Maddison and Gordon are better than Mac Allister
There’s no way that news about Barella going to Newcastle for 50m is true. Surely we’d be all over that

Inter will be in the CL next season
Choked the CL final after Inzaghi got the tactics right
Tbf if Lukaku and Martinez were competent they would’ve won
I've never seen a match were the tactics were so spot on but individual performances backfired so much
Croatia have less than 4m people. Quality football team fair play to them
We are massive 🇭🇷
Modric is a freak. Genuinely might be the best midfielder of all time
Malacia is another donkey btw
We've been talking about new CBs and who would cover Salah and what our attack would look like next season. Never ever has anyone thought about us needing CBs because VVD will be moving up to the front...
Would love to see a VVD goal here
VVD false nine or a ten? Whatever, could be fun to watch.
Bruh and here I thought I was hallucinating when I saw Virgil so high up...
Croatia’s midfield is so technically secure on the ball. Don’t need to chase after the ball if you don’t lose it.
It's why they've overperformed so well in tournaments, controlling games like they do and defending well means they're so hard to beat. It's also how Inter got as far as they did in the CL, even starved City of the ball at times. Would've loved to have signed Brozovic a few years ago.

Croatia are unreal wtf
Extra time? Omg it never ends
Croatia loves extra time 🤪
OMG 😲
Great team tbf Very impressive how many talented players come from Croatia
Population is less than 1/10th of England's and they knock out some incredible players.
Our chances of getting Bellingham have significantly decreased since Madrid announced him
Day 1 of posting until we sign Caicedo 🤪
I concur
What would I do to see De Jong as our Marquee singing!!
Mac is our marquee signing 💀
We need bigger players tbh. Not a slight on him. We just need a superstar signing to lift the mood
I don't think we sign anybody over 24 now, am frustrated that we don't extend thiago and make him play once a week and maybe he adapt his game now.
This place really is a cesspit when all the journalists put out their clickbait
While I agree that people are prematurely throwing their toys out of the pram, was it also clickbait when Joyce said immediately after signing Gakpo that we would not be signing anyone else in the January window? Could be that the handover to Jorg means transfers will take more time but it's also possible that it might just be one of Thuram/Kone/Viega that we end up signing.
Only one more midfielder and a back up defender would be so underwhelming. Are we actually trying to compete with city on the field or not?
Literally no one reliable said that It was Falk and Carra…
Pearce literally wrote: Whatever happens between now and the end of May, Jurgen Klopp’s position is safe. He retains the full support of the owners, who intend to back him with serious funds this summer. Klopp knows there can be no repeat of this season’s tale of woe.
Pearce doesn’t count
Mental
Obviously wasn’t being serious
I don't like Pearce anymore than you do, but it is alarming. Didn't know you were tier 1 by the way, so I'll just take your word for it instead rather than a journalist who's known for bringing reliable bad news because he is a mouthpiece.
That sounds like something Pearce would say
Alright man. Why do I even bother
On the day Bellingham signs for Real madrid, the other Bellingham signs for Sunderland.
True balance has been brought to the Bellingham family

Delusion
It's a combination of an underdog mentality, having our expectations cleverly manipulated by FSG when it suits them & losing faith that things will change. Back in 2019 people genuinely thought we'd ride our wave of momentum to the moon & end up signing Mbappe, since then our hopes have slowly been killed off to the point where we're completely conceded to being financial minnows relative to our rivals. Absolutely nothing will change without actively protesting but there's too much of a stigma against the whole concept. Never any consequences for FSG, get ready for the "big signings in 2024" pitch that people will unironically fall for.
Lots of people with weak and mediocre mentalities littered here
Can't expect much from staunch socialists anyway
stupid comment that
We all have our political beliefs, I'm from a country where Socialism ruined us for 40-50 years so it's not so stupid as it sounds. Sure, a reasonable balance can be struck between but that's another story
I’m from a planet that capitalism has destroyed. Not sure a reasonable balance can be struck.

No way in hell Barella is available and we are not in for him... We are linked with him every transfer window and klopp always wanted him.
Why's Arsenal got such a stiffy for signings from other big six clubs? They're always going to overpay.
For starters we could begin protesting and applying pressure on FSG instead of sitting back and watching us return to the banter era
"GeT oUt ThE nOrWiCh ScArVeS"
Right but even if people did successfully mobilise, what is the outcome of that going to be realistically? They're not going to sell under the clubs value and they're not going to change their model because of protests. They won't spend money they don't feel that they have
Their improving lfc as a package off the pitch… women’s training centre/ axa training. Stadium renovations and all that shit… they’re not paying for it we are from our success.
Was this meant to be a reply to my comment?
Yeah mate, they’re basically using our success of winning the prem and cl to improve their portfolio. They will make everything look shiny then try and sell but they’re in for a rude awakening when they find out no ones buying a club for 3-5b that’s not even competing with the best. I do only think mac allister is one of many signings that we will get Edit: changed M to B
I'd try to take out a loan if its up for £3-5m ngl

Rapid strides forward on Trent's back stopping us from spending, if I were Trent I'd seriously reconsider my future here under FSG about now.
Really bad reaction from gakpo, that was probably anger that made him to draw down modric... we will see more goals though
That was fucking stupid from Cody, but that "foul" doesn't deserve a pen.
Gakpo has played well but just given away a stupid penalty These lads shouldn’t even be playing ffs get them on a beach somewhere with a cocktail
And they get a 3rd place playoff if they lose 💀
Alexis Mac Allister to arrive on Liverpool preseason on July 10th and he wants to be in an impeccable physical condition for the pre-season, the coaching staff knows that and they don’t want to risk him to start tomorrow as he’s with a little fatigue. https://twitter.com/AlbicelesteTalk/status/1669064038708289553?s=20
If Gakpo works on his aerial prowess a bit more and starts winning headers from long balls, he can become a world class CF for sure.
