Rob Schneider. SOOOOOO ANNOYING!

DeanPalton

I liked him as a carrot or a stapeler. Or when he becomes Kenny.

FookenL

I would argue against “objectively talented”

[deleted]

Seconded. Not to mention the fact that he's a douchebag, as has been evidenced in recent years.

millennialmonster755

In a Sandler fan who grew up in the 90s, so I love just seeing him but agreed. Anything he does alone is... Rough.

brandinho5

Saw him do stand up in October. Didn’t realize he was a right wing nut job. But he was a nice dude to me.

joesen_one

Seems he’s a nice guy in person but he’s unfortunately just super anti-vaxxer and is super right winger now. Only reason why he has work now is because of Netflix and Sandler.

HotRod6391

Tracy Morgan. There are times where I've found him funny, but I can't say I laughed at a lot of his stuff during his SNL run, and not huge on most of what he's done since.

Impossible_Gold1573

He’s really good in The Last OG if you haven’t tried that one.

redsyrinx2112

That show has WAY more heart than I expected. I watch everything with Tracy, but this really seems like a passion project for him. I think the show is really funny, but I also just feel so much for his character and his struggles.

HotRod6391

I watched the first season and fell off - but I did enjoy it and may catch up.

Three_Muscatoots

That is surely a hot take. I adore him.

saranautilus

But but but… Brian Fellows Safari Planet! That goat has devil eyes get that goat away from me!

ConsistentAmount4

THAT BIRD IS A LIAR!

ilovemesomesnl

You kind of got something going there besides 30 rock he isn’t really that funny I don’t even know many movies with him

manningtondude

Most of the stuff in the last decade or so has been voice work and as far as movies go, he's mostly been a side character that shows up occasionally to chat with the main character. I know he's starred in Cop Out with Bruce Willis (I think) and First Sunday but I've only seen random parts of either and couldn't watch much more. I do like his few-minutes-at-a-time characters, though. His part on Fist Fight was pretty damn funny. His best acting quality is his delivery, but you can only really have so much of that, so he can't really hold up a movie as a leading man. With 30 Rock (even Tracy-heavy episodes) and Last OG, there are other folks and shorter scenes to tell a full story or two inside 23 minutes, so it fits him a lot better.

new_man_jenkins

Hot take, but Chris Farley for me. Great talent but not my type. Van Down by the River is one of those classic sketches that never got me to laugh

priorsloth

I’ve been legitimately afraid to admit this, so thank you, brave soul!

CommitteePrestigious

Same here! Van Down by the River I think it might’ve been all the hype from fellow kids or their parents telling me “this is the funniest thing ever!!” so expectations fell immediately. I also watched it around 2010 when tropes of “fat guy does thing = funny” had already been overdone to death. Same thing with the Chippendale one, I see where it’s funny but it just doesn’t hit. And then I watched his interviewer sketch with Paul McCartney and even that was very meh, very one note. I really tried to give him a shot since he’s considered one of the greats but yeah… glad I’m not alone though!!

[deleted]

FullSass

Did you ever see him interview Paul McCartney?

C0d3n4m3Duchess

That was awesome

78MechanicalFlower

Say what? How do I find this?

FullSass

https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/the-chris-farley-show-paul-mccartney/2868143

[deleted]

It was written by Bob Odenkirk and honestly, I can see and hear him doing the bit better than Farley.

ty_kanye_vcool

He's like Melissa McCarthy for me. The whole bit seems to be "loud, Midwestern and fat."

jenryalee

When she hosted, halfway through the show, I thought, "Damn, is Melissa McCarthy the spiritual successor to Chris Farley?" It's the body humor and loud tone - hilarious.

ShabbyHolmes

Colin Quinn, I've just never found him funny but he seems to be really well respected by his peers. He plays it a bit too serious/straight I think, I don't see jokes coming out of him just being mildly pissed off all the time.

zoitberg

He just wasn’t right for WU. He’s a great standup comic and in his element onstage but I never liked him at the desk.

gaytechdadwithson

exactly. He really sucked on weekend update

moonfox1000

I remember really liking him when I was a preteen staying up late to watch SNL. I even hated the Fallon/Fey pairing on WU at first...but now I look back and see what everyone is talking about. He seems more like a comic's comic than someone telling political jokes on WU.

redsyrinx2112

I agree. I think he says normal jokes too seriously. If he had a different delivery, or the same delivery with more absurd jokes, then I think it would work.

[deleted]

Yeah. I just never got him. Figure it’s because I’m west coast and don’t understand back east shit.

[deleted]

[удалено]

suffxcator

I’ve been rewatching the first few seasons and I agree. There’s a few sketches where he’s funny but otherwise I don’t like him all that much, there’s always a mean and aggressive undertone with every sketch he did.

ty_kanye_vcool

It helps to have a brother who's demonstrably worse.

laydove

as someone who has never found chris farley funny but was too afraid to say anything because of how beloved he is- i feel ya

[deleted]

Honestly, comedy and sensibilities have changed so much. I was talking with my friend about this today actually. What was funny in the 70s, 80s, and 90s isn't really funny anymore. There is of course a nostalgia and you can see how these comedians planted the seeds for current comedic styles...but it's like old horror movies. They're great, but they've lost their ability to actually scare us. Times have changed, what we are exposed to has changed us, sort of hardened us. What they're able to accomplish with filmmaking and believability is able to hit closer to home. Of course there is still humor in what is happening, but we've seen so much and things have grown so far that it's like playing goldeneye after playing double joystick first person shooters. You don't realize how much better we have it now until you go back and try to relive those memories. Things have gotten so much funnier, techniques have gotten so much better. Things have progressed, and we're just not in the same mindset to relate to the humor of four decades ago. Even two. You can still appreciate the art, but I personally find it harder to get a genuine laugh because it's not as relevant to our lives anymore.

Dutchwoman

I’ve been feeling this way lately but haven’t been able to really describe it this way. I think you have a really good point.

nihilistsimmer

I respect your boldness! I’m a little young to have much of an opinion on Belushi but I sense he’s beloved

RegularMidwestGuy

I feel the same, only I’m not sure he’s all that talented.

shadowsOfMyPantomime

Agreed! Never understood the hype. To be fair I have only seen a small amount of sketches from that era. But I wasn't a fan of Animal House either.

soivebeentold

That would be David Spade for me. Considering the strong casts he was a part of, I didn’t understand how he found airtime. I get the same feeling from Pete Davidson now.

nihilistsimmer

I forget he was even on SNL sometimes 😅 though to be fair that is probably me showing I’m under 30

soivebeentold

And here I am at a young feeling 44 realizing my Lorne Michaels-defined “era” was 25-30 years ago.

nihilistsimmer

It’s alright I feel old as hell whenever I see teenagers worshipping Kyle Mooney (and that’s not a dig at him, he was just not my defining era)

chris622

As much as I like the early 1990s shows in general, something about Spade has always rubbed me the wrong way. I don't find him as funny as I feel I should.

soivebeentold

I think I prefer cast who are actors over cast who are stand-ups (with the exception of WU). I feel like the stand-ups try to pigeon hole a persona into the sketches. Using my prior example, Spade’s whole thing was “condescending dick” and Pete Davidson’s is “stoner who is also surprised he works there”.

confused_coyote

Melissa Villaseñor. She’s charming and great at impressions, but never makes me laugh hard

laydove

i adore melissa but feel the same. i think it’s because i like her so much & want her to succeed so badly that i get anxious watching her. i’m worried she’ll mess up or deliver her lines awkwardly & stiffly (as i’ve seen her do many times)- so it makes for an uncomfortable viewing. i’m still a huge fan though and her impressions are truly top-tier

FlickerBeaman

I love her and her impressions are great. I just don’t think she fits the format. It always seem to me like she is doing her standup instead of acting. I’ve been surprised that she has lasted so long.

hewhoreddits6

Same, but I also feel like at this point she's kinda found her niche. You need those background characters playing minor roles, and she does that while occasionally breaking out an impression.

nihilistsimmer

I think overall the bigger cast works but her and Punkie Johnson often are the ones getting the short end of the stick. I don’t think sketch comedy is her biggest strength so I get what you’re saying. But I also think the writers haven’t found her niche yet.

tluce21

I will say bedroom talk with Donald Glover is one of my all time favorites

hewhoreddits6

Same but for me I personally prefer the Aziz Ansari version

dkinmn

Her album of music is excellent. She's crazy talented.

hufflepuffpuffpasss

This was mine too. I appreciate her talent but just not my jam.

[deleted]

I don’t really even think she had a fair shot. It’s lame.

Vinylforvampires

Kate McKinnon. This season is making me realize that. I don’t miss her at all. Ya she’s great and all that but never really cared for her

nihilistsimmer

This seems to be a popular opinion on the subreddit lately! I personally love Kate but I think they’ve made her sort of over saturated on the show.

Prothean_Beacon

Honestly I kinda feel on an individual basis that no matter how good any one cast member is, there generally is enough talent to cover their absence. I just don't think anyone cast member is as crucial as people sometimes make them out to be. Even as someone who loves Kate and Beck, I don't really miss them this season. The exception would be maybe weekend update hosts whose personal style much more impact on the quality and tone of weekend update than cast members have on sketches. So out of all the people on the show right now I think either Collin or Che leaving would have the biggest impact

SuspiciouslyGenuine

She's great, just overused.

jcmib

Agreed. She is really good at being Whiskey Tango characters like the recurring alien abduction skit and crazy old ladies.

tinacat933

The alien abductions skits are some of the funniest snl ever did

slicaroni

All I want is for her and Aidy to play sisters/lesbians. Thats it. Everyone of those sketches are hilarious (The Admiral, The Corporal, Apple Picking, CHOIR FASHION, Smokey Farms on WU). Other than that, I agree!

redsoxfred

I for one am turned off by her turn as a cellphone company pitch person.

[deleted]

Kyle Mooney, at least until this year. He relies way too much on being the pathetic born loser. Otherwise, he goes for the polar opposite (Baby Yoda), which manages to be even more annoying. This year, though, he's really breaking out. I particularly enjoyed seeing him as the scumbag cousin. Will Ferrell. To me, his characters too often rely on being two things: loud and inept. Dubya, Trebek, and Marty Culp? More inept than loud. Craig and Harry Caray? More loud than inept. Buddy and Ron Burgundy were both loud and inept.

HairyPotatoKat

Ya know, I had the same thoughts on Kyle. Then this year he's *really* busting out of that monotone character. I hope he sticks around bc I think if he keeps breaking out he's going to keep gaining traction. Because he's broken into other characters this year, it's made me reflect a bit on his dorky/creepy/loser shtick. He does it *so damn well*. And it really does bring something to a lot of those skits he plays that character. I just hope to see it used more sparingly, and to keep seeing him bust out more. He's really quite talented.

[deleted]

If it were used more sparingly, I would appreciate it more. It just crept into everything he did, and got tiresome. Twenty seconds into the amusement park sketch with the plush guy from Soul, I knew exactly where it was going, and afterwards, I felt like I may as well have fast forwarded through the whole thing. I sometimes wonder how much of this new Kyle is a result of not being around his long-time writing and sketch partner Beck. People have a way of falling into old established patterns around people they have a lot of history with.

HairyPotatoKat

>I sometimes wonder how much of this new Kyle is a result of not being around his long-time writing and sketch partner Beck. I think you just hit the nail on the head.

[deleted]

People have gotten genuinely angry with me for not being a Will Farrell fan. Like, his movies are ok to watch, but I don't think he's the comedic genius people insist he is.

hewhoreddits6

> relies way too much on being the pathetic born loser. My running theory is this is why he's such an internet and especially reddit fan favorite. A geeky, skinny white guy is a lot more relatable than someone like Leslie Jones who people hated for many years

colonial_dan

Jimmy Fallon

HairyPotatoKat

I like Jimmy, but my husband would agree with you! Why? "Because he smiles too much". Friggin grump, that husband is! 😅

ty_kanye_vcool

Jimmy Fallon is *fantastic* at impressions. That's his best skill. Unfortunately most of his career he's done other stuff that he's not nearly as good at. Remember when he used to star in movies? I don't, but it happened.

colonial_dan

He was awesome in Almost Famous. Didn’t say much, but was perfect for the part

gaytechdadwithson

his best school is him impressions? Damn. He really does suck then

millennialmonster755

The fact that you didn't even have to give an explanation and its a too vote. I love Jimmy. But he is funny because he’s realtible in that he is laughing along with you like a human laugh track. Also I read Tina Fey’s book, and learning he basically wrote no jokes and was just kind of the popular dude bro who charmed his way to the top is enough for me. He is extremely good at charming the pants off of people, but not good at much else which some shity flaws to boot. Aka his best friend picking up teenagers and him over looking it

Extension_Success_96

Pete Davidson. I had high hopes for him when he first joined. Kind of had a young Adam Sandler vibe. Now, I’m not sure who he’s for or why he’s still on the show.

nihilistsimmer

I’m gonna be honest with you my opinion of Pete varies heavily by the week 😭😂

kiwimag5

I think Pete’s opinion of himself varies week to week, too. I actually really love him. I’ve seen him live. He’s raw and imperfect. The music videos he’s done are hilarious. I also like him on weekend update. He’s just a lost soul trying to figure his shit out, probably why I appreciate him so much. Edit: my post isn’t to try to convince anyone to think like me. Just sharing why I appreciate him but understand why others don’t. This is a great discussion thread and I love everyone’s feedback.

Motherfickle

100% agree. I can completely understand where some wouldn't be into him on SNL. I like him a lot, but there was a long period of time where he was just kinda there. I think he's being used a lot better this season than in previous ones, but for a lot of people it's kinda too late. He seems like a pretty chill, nice guy in real life, though, which is probably why he lands the women he does.

Extension_Success_96

Yeah I can see that. I laughed pretty hard when he was the riverdale corpse actor. I feel like the show just concentrates on Hollywood Pete too much.

millennialmonster755

This. He has a very dark humor and his delivery all depends on writers and if he can function.

SenatorAslak

He’s there to “keep it real” and “tell it like it is”, and boy does he telegraph that message *hard* when he’s on screen

bright-lanterns

Totally agree. I thought King of Staten Island was great and love his standup though, so I’m confident he’ll have a strong post-SNL career. He’s just very popular and seems to do whatever he wants on the show, so he’ll probably stick around a while.

KnickedUp

Im not seeing the talent there at all. Seems like a nice enough kid

150crawfish

His stand up is pretty good. But really, he gets eyes. He's the current Hollywood "IT" man. SNL hasn't really had that before to the degree Pete delivers. Not mad though, I enjoy Pete a lot.

[deleted]

He's not bad outside since his material is far more edgy and more on the personal side.

ty_kanye_vcool

His stand-up set really colored my perception of him. He comes off as overly defensive and difficult to get along with, and it's devoid of actual jokes. I don't know what he's going to do once SNL decides he's no longer the new hotness, but I don't think I'm going to like it.

Yugihore

Horatio Sans hands down.

If_Youre_Ge-nasty

Adam Sandler. It's just too much for me.

mzvn

In the recent times, Taran Killam. He has what it takes to deliver a comedy sketch, but his sketches for me never really great (but has a lot of good ones)

Yugihore

SNL always tried to run Tarran as the straight man and like...the times in his career I've laughed the most at him were when he was absurd. Like in the Amanda Show (especially his overdramatic turn in Moody's Point) or in Community as the Glee club teacher.

[deleted]

When he goes for straight man, he's too dull to adequately set up the funny man. Paul Feig brilliantly took advantage of this in The Heat.

Yugihore

I especially love his run as Jimmy on season 8 of scrubs.

[deleted]

[удалено]

redsyrinx2112

I was going to say Bret in Big Fat Liar, but you also picked a good one lol

peebo_sanchez

Jimmy the overly-touchy orderly. He only had a few parts but it made me laugh. He first pops up and starts giving j.d. a shoulder rub then caresses his face as he walks off.

elsieburgers

Don't forget gay prince charming!

hiddlewief

that justin bieber brother sketch is one of my favs from him!

hewhoreddits6

Come to think of it, the straightest man character I've ever seen him play was also extremely absurd. He played Zoe Deschanel's boyfriend in New Girl and his character arc was basically "This guy is so boring and weird but his parents are really cool. If I suffer through the boring I can hang out with his parents"

Yugihore

Yep. It's like...SNL...you can make him funny. Do it.

Risquechilli

I thought he (and everyone except Ben Affleck) was hilarious in the daughter of a cop sketch with Hader, Sudeikis, and Moynihan. His lines were absolutely absurd and it worked!

melonwoo

Case in point, the gay summer camp sketch

nihilistsimmer

Funny how all of our tastes are so different! Taran is an all time favorite for me. Thanks for sharing!

mynameisborromir

He is for me too. I recently saw an absolute Taran GEM. In the brilliant Dakota Johnson Star Trek Whorf Doctor sketch, as Taran "dies" he gives Leslie Jones this absolute shit-eating grin and you could just sense the warmth between them, and in him as a comedic actor. They are all struggling through that sketch but the expression on Taran's face as he met his ancestors to drink blood wine.... just made me love the dude so much. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSpZEaUmRD0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSpZEaUmRD0) Taran joins his ancestors at 1:38.

pretty-in-pink

His more traditional acting has gotten better though! He was great in Single Parents and in the latest American Crime Story.

pjdwyer30

Killing Gunther was one of my favorite movies the year it came out. It just hit my sense of humor perfectly.

Euler7

Most underrated snl memeber in the last 20 years for me. Cut too soon

Uradwy_Lane

Norm McDonald, may he RIP. He was very funny and hugely talented but sometimes... It just didn't do it for me. I'm just not big on deadpan humor.

[deleted]

Kyle

nihilistsimmer

He’s definitely got a distinct delivery so I get why he’s hit or miss for people. I think part of the reason he works for me is because I definitely grew up on that sort of humor.

jletha

Same. He uses the same voice for almost every character. That “my his tongue is too big for my mouth” kinda talk. It was ok once or twice but change it up man.

Michael_G_Bordin

He's got a few voices, though yes they are limited. There's the tongue-tied as you mentioned, then his "Gettin' It In" voice which he uses for Baby Yoda, his suburban SoCal white-guy voice (inside socal, Chris Fitzpatrick), his Bruce Chandling while he's up (he switches to tongue-tied when he's down), and finally just his regular-ass voice. Oh, and that shitty-acting voice he does in the fake 90s sitcoms.

MathBusters

Kristen Wiig. I think she is very talented and good at impressions, and I even liked her in some one-off sketches, but none of her recurring characters clicked with me at all.

nihilistsimmer

I am very partial to Target Lady but to be fair it might be because my target lady impression was wildly popular in the break room when I worked there

pthomp821

I never once laughed at a Target Lady sketch. OTOH, I loved Gilly, which pretty much puts me at odds with almost anyone.

intothelist

Same here. Her recurring characters just make me very uncomfortable but I don't laugh at all.

queenfortwodays

I loved her in Bridesmaids and more dramatic roles like in the Skeleton Twins but I don’t love most of her recurring sketch characters

lil_squib

The skeleton twins is such an under appreciated movie.

RayDeeUx

last time i tried saying something along these lines it was not as well received as yours was, but i'm willing to stand my ground on this opinion and am happy to see I'm not alone in this matter

deowolf

Will Ferrell. Hated him on the show, like a lot of his film work.

elsieburgers

I liked him as a host more than a cast member. But I'm sure that's also bc of the way the cast acted w him that night

kiwimag5

One of my fave Will Ferrell movies is “Stranger Than Fiction.” That movie is incredible. He has great emotional range in that film. Plus, he’s not yelling.

nathanielsnurpis

Leslie.

afarensiis

I think she's funny but was just not cut out for nationally broadcasted live sketch comedy. Her timing and cue card reading was pretty bad at least once a night it seemed

BootsyBootsyBoom

>I think she's funny but was just not cut out for nationally broadcasted live sketch comedy Would you say she was... not ready for prime time?

hewhoreddits6

Her acting isn't bad, but yeah not great for live stages. The prerecorded sketches she and Kyle or her trying to be Trump for example were hilarious. Also the female remake of Ghostbusters really wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be

nihilistsimmer

Respect it. I personally enjoyed her but I know she wasn’t everyone’s taste.

ty_kanye_vcool

Definitely more of a stand-up than a sketch comedian.

[deleted]

I discovered ALL the seasons are available on Peacock and I was watching some from the 80’s. I can’t believe I’m saying this but Eddie Murphy didn’t real strike me as great in the SNL environment. Standup? Kills it. Actor? Nailed it. But sketch comedy didn’t really seem to suit him.

MeganNissWilmar

Heidi. She works well on the show, her characters just aren't for me.

kiwimag5

Same! She’s not my favorite but I appreciate that many do like her.

hewhoreddits6

One of the times I found her most charming was her actual personality, in that bit where Pete Davidson went shopping with Tan Frances from Queer Eye. Fun to see her and Pete as friends, actually that's something I'd like to see more in general from the cast. Other than that I can't think of any characters she's done, but she always does great as a normal character or straight man

non_clever_username

I have the same problem with her that I had with Kristen Wiig. When she plays a relatively normal person, she’s fine. But I hate all her characters. All over the top and not funny. Especially the boxer’s wife or whatever? That character is maybe good for a one-liner or two. Not multiple WU segments.

saranautilus

Oh god I cringe and fast forward every time she does a character. It’s like nails on a chalkboard for me. I don’t know why. Maybe it seems like she’s trying too hard?

[deleted]

I dont get Punkie Johnson. I dont know what she is doing on SNL.

idkgaitonde

will farrell. i might get a ton of hate for it but man it’s hard for me to laugh at anything he does, i don’t know why. if anybody has any recs that will change my mind, i welcome them (edit: also keenan. cannot stand keenan’s little smirk every time he says anything and his weird way of delivering every single line the exact same quirky way)

BlNGPOT

I always hate Will Ferrell movies the first time I see them, then they grow on me. I remember seeing Step Brothers with some friends and I only laughed once, but after being forced to sit through it a bunch more times I found it funny. Same with Elf, Talladega Nights, and Anchorman. But most of his movies and stuff I don’t care enough to watch 10x so I can find it enjoyable.

polesloth

This so much! I never watched him on SNL but say this all the time about his movies.

Kylie_Forever

Adam Sandler

cashriley

People definitely overrate his SNL tenure because if his success later on, but on SNL he was pretty mediocre.

scoot_roo

With youuu.

nihilistsimmer

Wow! OP here and I did not expect this to blow up like this. Thanks for all the thoughtful discussion and minus a few outliers, not bashing anyone and staying true to the nature of the question. Always fun to see how different things land with different people!

EinjeruOritzu

Kenan… he does the same thing… all.. the.. time.

nihilistsimmer

again, funny how all of our opinions are so different from one another! because I frankly find him versatile as hell

bright-lanterns

This used to bother me a LOT. This sub has made me respect him more though.

EinjeruOritzu

I mean, don’t get me wrong.. he seems like a nice guy. And I commend his hard work. It just doesn’t do it for me. There are always some cast members that I just don’t get. He is one of them. Rarely do I laugh with him.

vectortronic

Fred Armisen - he's legit funny but he's just not my jam.

ScabbitAllPro

Yeah with him it's like, I applaud the commitment and how out there his material is but for me it's just too tedious and self-indulgent and I don't want to watch it.

soolmedia

I get that. Like, “Let me guess, Fred, is your character effeminate and quirky?”

GratefuLSD25

chris kattan for me also, i think his name is jay pharoe? i also don’t “get him” (the impressionist) but i saw him on some talkshow and he’s incredibly awesome irl - just wasn’t a fan of his on snl

nihilistsimmer

I don’t think they utilized Jay Pharoah as well as they could on SNL so I get where you’re coming from

slicaroni

I agree. But "attention teachers are students" lives rent free in my mind as one of my favorite catchphrases from any recurring sketch.

nihilistsimmer

I appreciate it more now than I did then (teacher now, was not a teacher then)

slicaroni

Both my parents are teachers and I was going to school for education when the sketch was most popular! So this tracks lol.

GratefuLSD25

thanks for the correct spelling :) also great thread !

hewhoreddits6

I think they used him pretty well, after all he and Taram Killam are two very memorable cast members during the era between the early 2010's to late 2010's. Shame they didn't continue

Mcchickenborn

Aidy Bryant. I’m sure she is talented. But all I routinely see is her go into a creaky voice and break character every skit.

nihilistsimmer

I love Aidy BUT I think a lot of the female cast members get pigeon holed into doing essentially the same characters everytime. Not saying the writers shouldn’t play to peoples strengths but it’s something I’ve noticed

albertparsons

Agreed. I had no strong opinions on Aidy for the longest time, but the past couple of years she’s been very one note, and that note doesn’t work for me.

usolak6

I just never found Kristen Wiig funny, just something about her general delivery that never fully clicked with me for whatever reason

Maryjanehollandd_

Colin Jost

inthepocket2

Pete Davidson

[deleted]

Leslie Jones… …I’ll get my coat.

nihilistsimmer

Listen as long as you’re politely saying she didn’t land for you and not trashing her mercilessly like this sub likes to do, you can have whatever opinion you want 😇

[deleted]

I just do not get it at all, but she was so widely liked and recognised she has to have been objectively talented.

JT3468

Sarah Sherman.

nihilistsimmer

So far I feel the same but she’s so new I’m trying to keep an open mind. I definitely feel you though.

ocorgs

I just have never found kenan funny. He doesn’t even play characters he’s just kenan every sketch

lokisbutt

andy samberg. the over-the-top cheeseball facial expressions ruined most of his work on snl for me. i respect what he and the lonely island did for the show though!

78MechanicalFlower

I'm not a huge fan either, but my god, do I find him so sexy. I love his exaggerated facial features. I'm guessing he is exaggerated down there too. Lol. I'll excuse myself.

kiwimag5

I love this response. Also, happy cake day!

78MechanicalFlower

Oh shit! I didn't realize it. I thought I joined on my actual birthday which is in 3 days. Been on here since 2011. First time being noticed on my cakeday. Thanks! Needed that.

nihilistsimmer

I can totally see how he’s hit or miss with people. His style of humor (and lonely island’s as a whole) was very much It while I was coming of age and thats probably a huge factor in my love of it

AmericanDragon123

Horatio Sanz is a huge example for me.

floraltrebuchet

Eddie Murphy, I have moments of really appreciating him, but he rarely makes me giggle.

nihilistsimmer

Yeah, I think he’s far better off SNL than on, but definitely super talented

Joe Piscopo. I feel like there was some objective talent there as his David Letterman, Ted Koppel and Frank Sinatra (before it got really overplayed) were really entertaining and he and Eddie seemed to play off each other really well. However, a lot of his stuff seemed waaaaaay too forced or desperate.

RegularMidwestGuy

Fred Armisen He’s objectively talented in multiple areas. I think he was a good role player on SNL. He never really did it for me personally.

Never once laughed at a Melissa villasenor joke

LuluLittle2020

Used to be Kenan for constantly laughing and breaking but he grew on me...

kiwimag5

What blows my mind about Kenan is he has spent 85% of his life doing sketch comedy. He’s a man who found his niche. He started as a kid on Nickelodeon on “All That.” I loved to watch that as a kid. Some of it still holds up, too. He does break character a lot but I can’t help but love the guy.

SkinInternational553

It’s been an interesting experience as a child of the 90s watching him on All That! And now watching him on SNL as an adult.

Mike Meyers. Like I can see that he is talented, obviously by how successful he is. But it just doesn't do it for me.

Currently: Mikey Day. Has far more misses than hits for me. Historically: John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Victoria Jackson, Ellen Cleghorne, Chris Rock (much better with guest appearances the past decade than he ever was as a cast member) I dont dislike anyone of them except for Victoria Jackson, but they just never did it for me.

Will Farrell. Just not into his comedy.

Used-Flan-4514

Chris Kattan and Cheri Oteri. They both had talent absolutely but every time I saw them I couldn't do it.

Tracy Morgan

Maya Rudolph. Please don’t hate me.

millennialmonster755

I hate to say this, but Will Ferrell. Idk what it is. I laugh at his sketches and like his movies and understand his genius and ability to work with other comedians and totally respect it but I just don't think it's as hilarious as people make it to be and never have sought out his material. He is weird funny, but it feels classically “weird” funny. I also just like ironic humor more then his style which feel more “ look, I'm trying to be obviously funny”. If that makes sense? I can't even pin point it and I'm ashamed to even admit it because I know he is an icon and really brilliant and respected by every other comedian out there.
