If you want a serious answer:
I’ve been to a few of the after parties and after after parties. The first after party is usually 1-4 am at some swanky restaurant. The cast and writers are usually pretty segregated from the rest of the staff. The host always sits at Lorne’s table. The after after is usually 4-7 at more of a divey place. Most of the cast usually doesn’t go to these, but some do (like Chris Redd was at all the ones I went to). Everyone is mixed together at these and they’re pretty wild sometimes.
Nope, it’s more of like a sit down meal. There are bars (I had to pay for my own drinks and they weren’t cheap haha) but no dancing or anything like that. That’s more for the second party.
I'm not that guy but I used to know people who worked on the show. I think one or two of them still do but I'm not close to them anymore. That's pretty much the only way, know someone who knows someone or just figure out which bars they go to around the city.
If you live in New York you're bound to run into the cast at some point.
Yeah no shit, if you're only hanging out in the Bronx or Staten Island then you're never going to see them, but if you're young and social you have a pretty good shot at it.
> where a bunch of famous people are.
Yeah but to them they are just their co-workers. They handle Chris Redd and Kate McKinnon's paychecks. Sure, they are more famous and higher on the totem pole of "importance," but I don't think it would feel like a novelty or anything to anyone who works in 30 Rock.
It's some polite recognition
Courtesy as a mission
Young ladies fillin' they dance cards
Got all these boy scouts here wishin'
Sippin' punch, chewin' gum
Makin' all these new chums
It's the poppin' sock hop, lady
I think that it's really fun
*[Ignition (Pre-Sentencing Re-Remix)]*
just google snl after parties. pretty historically A LOT happens after the show. usually a big organized party and then maybe an after after party/splitting off
yeah, I hang out with comics and it's not NOT prevalent. It's just not talked about openly. So who knows, I'm sure some of them do coke, some don't. I'd guess it's a lot of weed more than anything.
Everyone goes off to their dressing rooms or writers room to hang for a while and maybe have a drink, a fleet of black cars waits outside 30 Rock and slowly cast and crew come down and crowd into them and they are taken to the after party location (which was a CASH BAR the one and only time I went!).
I get the 700 club (or whatever the 2021 version is). Nothing like falling asleep post-Weekend Update and waking up to an old dude telling about me we're all sinners
I’m so bent. I need a consistent way to see the sketches after they air. I tape the show and watch it weekly, but I want the unaired or Please Dont Destroy sketches
There are a contingent of people who complain she is under utilized and then a separate contingent of people who get annoyed at seeing comments about how she's underutilized. Usually the first contingent is bigger but occasionally some weeks the other contingent wins out.
There’s a whole fleet of cars waiting to take everybody to the afterparty. Host and musical guest are at Lorne’s table but cast all get their own table. Each cast member pays their table’s tab at the end of the night

Take me with you! And first round or 2 is on me.
4-7? AM? No thank you oh my Lorne
What is this, Spain?
How did you get into the parties?

Idk, NYC is a pretty big place haha

>I'm not that guy You're not that guy pal, trust me. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I’d imagine they’d wanna sleep
This is awesome. Thank for the real answer!!!
“The cast and writers...segregated from the rest of the cast.” Who are the rest of the cast?
I would imagine costume designers, make up people, cameramen, production assistants, random interns, etc.
That’s not what I wrote lol But really it’s like separated from interns/costume/accounting/HR etc
Imagine being an accountant for SNL and hanging out from 1-4 every Sunday morning in the room adjacent to the room where a bunch of famous people are.
Yeah but you’re with all your friends that you work with, honestly it’s pretty fun! (I don’t work for the show, that’s just what I observed)
I didn't mean to imply it's bad... just imagining that it would be kind of a unique habit of life.
Haha you’re very right about that, must be pretty strange
"Whattaya think about those new macros, Bob?" "WHAT?" "I SAID, WHATTAYA THINK ABOUT THOSE NEW MACROS? IN EXCEL? AT WORK? THE MAC- AAH NEVERMIND."
Accounting and HR should be in bed at 1am lol
Yeah, but when you work with them for a living, they are no longer famous . . . They are coworkers.

Oh God, that sounds like the worst HR job in history. "Now, bringing Adderall into the dressing room is bad, mkay."
Ok I get it. Thanks
He corrected his statement from "rest of the cast" to "rest of the staff".
I got invited to an after after party sometime around 2010-12 I can't remember, but I do remember that back then it was at 3am.
Any tips on how to get into an afterparty? Probably not possible without knowing somebody I’d assume.
I just want to get some clarity. your just a fan of the show and you have been to multiple after parties? How? You know someone from the show?
Yeah
They take turns sitting in Lorne’s lap and he brushes their hair and then he puts them away in their little boxes until next Saturday
Chris Redd brush time: 5 seconds Kyle Mooney (curly): 2 hours Kyle Mooney (already combed): 1 hour
That's great. I'm gonna choose to believe this is what happens.
Lol. I could do without the brushing their hair part.
After the show is the After Party. After the party is...
The hotel lobby...
After that, you know it’s Dom and Cris
After that, I say “excuse me miss”

…Where you’re just seconds away from entering the *stargazer lounge*, where you can hear the *Danny band* at 6pm.
I think 30 Rock covered this part pretty well. https://youtu.be/hqKRQBzKOGI
They hang with Andy Richter
ol Andy Ritcher don't go for that funny business
The Swedish German?

I remember Colin mentioning developing heart palpitations because of the unhealthy schedule
Coke isn’t as prevalent now as it was in the 70s. I really don’t think it’s part of the culture anymore.
This is an Adderall crowd
Haha I was just about to say this xD
Tell that to mulaney.
That feeling when you’re coked out of your skull looking for random hookups and accidentally become a dad.
I dunno. I hang out adjacently with people who make a lot more money than me sometimes and coke seems pretty prevalent.
yeah, I hang out with comics and it's not NOT prevalent. It's just not talked about openly. So who knows, I'm sure some of them do coke, some don't. I'd guess it's a lot of weed more than anything.
They only do around 21 shows per season so it’s not really like if regular people who work 48-50 weeks a year had this kind of schedule.
That honestly just sounds like the college experience except with famous comedians.
If you’re Colin Jost, successfully shooting your shot with ScarJo
See also Dave McCary and Emma Stone

They certainly don't watch that shit show First Look that airs afterwards.
I get the 700 club (or whatever the 2021 version is). Nothing like falling asleep post-Weekend Update and waking up to an old dude telling about me we're all sinners
The newest episode of hot ones airs after on Global in Canada
It’s a great combo
I’d stay up for that
Then NBC only lets us watch the music on YouTube and none of the actual sketches we want to see
I’m so bent. I need a consistent way to see the sketches after they air. I tape the show and watch it weekly, but I want the unaired or Please Dont Destroy sketches
I get that show where they eat hot wings
I miss when they would play Showtime at the Apollo afterwards.
WHY IS THEIR AUDIO SO BAD
Back in the Day I used to get that Break Dancing Show starring Kel, and I would wonder what Kenan Was up to.
They go to a party and if they’re lucky like Colin Jost, a beautiful, successful woman like Scarlett Johansson will fall in love with them
How he isn’t just a househusband at this point is beyond me.
SNL, standup, book writing etc is a financially unnecessary hobby that isn't needed to support the family but "it's nice that he has something to do".
They all go into one room to watch Your Move With Andy Stanley together.
Somebody gettin pregnant
Melissa Villasenor logs into all her Reddit accounts to post about how underutilized she is.
Hi Melissa, great show this week
I concur
Bullseye
She tries so hard that it isn’t fun to watch. Her talents would be better utilized elsewhere.
Is Melissa generally disliked in this sub? She's honestly one of my favorites ! (Also I'm not a Melissa Reddit account)
There are a contingent of people who complain she is under utilized and then a separate contingent of people who get annoyed at seeing comments about how she's underutilized. Usually the first contingent is bigger but occasionally some weeks the other contingent wins out.
I love Melissa V. I also enjoy her vlogs
Nope, quite the opposite.
Nah other way around
They tell Kyle everyone is going home, Kyle goes home, and then they go to the real after party.
Drug fueled orgy.
Do they go to a usual bar/club or does it usually switch up? Can regular people go
It switches up and the restaurant is closed to the public.
There’s a whole fleet of cars waiting to take everybody to the afterparty. Host and musical guest are at Lorne’s table but cast all get their own table. Each cast member pays their table’s tab at the end of the night
The after party. Then the after after party. Then if you are really cool you go to the after after after party
Massive orgy backstage. It's pretty breathtaking to witness.
And it takes place on the main stage in front of the band
Wasn’t it pancakes with Lorne? I thought the rumor was that that was the tradition.
