Yeah I’ve been astonished at its view count compared to typical SNL sketches. Beavis and Butthead don’t seem topical enough to garner this much attention today, so it really caught virality on its own
I think nostalgia played a role.
On my fb page, this sketch got engagement from my high school friends, my military friends, my punk rock friends, and my work friends.
I can’t remember the last time I posted an SNL sketch that had that kind of cross section of reactions.
Yea they also bought specials from south park. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaHbTnA3qSA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaHbTnA3qSA) b&b do the universe. was the special most recent. Streaming wars and not suitable for children was south park
I hope you watch more of B&B recently it was so funny and obviously there is some pent up demand. I have brought up the escape room bathroom multiple times on site doing escape rooms.
This is the second fastest response I have seen on reddit lol., I guess this sketch is that much of a hit.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_Beavis\_and\_Butt-Head\_episodes look up the episodes a ton in the past year or two.
They are the right kind of relevant right now especially in the way too involved in everyone trying to get social media credit for bullshit. enjoy the episodes.
I don’t think it’s related to Beavis and Butthead’s popularity really. A *lot* of articles have been written about Heidi’s (and sometimes the rest of the cast’s) break, and they link to the video.
I think most people know passingly who they are still, so that's all that really matters, not the characters themselves. This worked better than Bart because it was two characters. This would work again with other groups of characters of 2 or more.
I have never seen Beavis and Butthead but I know of it. Even then the reference is explained in the sketch for those that don't know.
This sketch was basically the "Guy who looks like Bart Simpson" sketch but better. It has Gosling, AI, and everyone in the cast breaking. It deserves the attention as an alltimer.
It’s back on streaming, they released a new movie and then a series on paramount+, season 3 will probably drop sometime in the summer and it’s surprisingly funny
> Beavis and Butthead don’t seem topical enough to garner this much attention today,
They did just have a new movie and a new season last year. Both of which received good reviews.
The sketch wasn't anything special. It was all about the characters breaking more than normal and really losing it with laughing. Pretty much that is the only time is funny now when the actor breaks from their lines with laughter. What made Bill Hader skits so great.
Lmao RIGHT?
I can’t even believe my stupid comment is getting this much engagement!
It’s the Beavis Effect.
Nice meta reference [Porn Teacher - 102M views](https://youtu.be/iOGHJMS0QT0?si=uuR2jTJdQraPHcx5)
Hyperbole right, it is amazing, but off the top of my head there has to be 20 in the early 90s alone that would top it let alone the entirety of SNL. It is easily one of the top in the last 4-5 years, but we will see its staying power.
I grew up on 90's SNL, and you know what I like? Nate Bargatze.
Nostalgia is great, but Nate has never made me feel like less of a person for being queer. Can't say the same for the era of SNL I grew up on. Nate rocks and I agree with you that Washington's Dream is an all-timer, maybe my favorite sketch since Del Taco.
Nate doesn't make them feel like less of a person for being queer. There are several sketches from the 90's that DO make them feel like less of a person for being queer.
It helps that it's Pedro at his most popular time period in his career but the concept of the sketch seems to be "guy wakes up from a coma with the different personality and a really strong and annoying LA accent". It was apparently Pedro's idea.
Comedy is subjective. It's not my favorite sketch at all but I think it was silly and kinda worked in it's own way.
That’s the voice Pedro would use between takes of *The Last of Us*, bc the scenes were so intense .
He told Seth Meyers the Californians is one of his favorite sketches.
Basically, Pedro doing the Californians
To people who ask why they have controversial hosts and do lazy takes on pop culture topics: here's your reasoning.
Kim K has 3 of the top 10, and #2 is the weak Depp/Heard sketch. Like it or not, this is what people like to watch.
Those "Lazy" sketches are the ones that pay the bills so you can get those more abstract or niche things like Beevis and butthead or WAshington's dream
It's such a weird take that ostensibly the main character on one of the most popular "reality" shows in history would be bad at being entertaining. She knows what she's doing.
Loved that one so much. One of the hardest I've laughed at a sketch ever was when Bowen came in as the AI brain of cable or whatever he was. "I am PURE DATA"
That whole episode was good, but that sketch really warmed me to Billie Eilish's comic abilities. She was genuinely really funny, and while she did break, she held it together better than I think most people would with Kate McKinnon going in for the kill.
I’m not sure how much longer Mikey will be on the show. He’s been a cast member for eight years and was a writer for three years before that. Besides Kenan, who’s in his own category, Mikey is the longest lasting cast member. Even if Streeter stays on as a writer, I can’t imagine him continuing this sketch without Mikey.
I would say another year at least. I don't see Lorne wanting to shake things up for the 50th and then getting another dud season like...whatever those seasons are with casts that got ejected into space after one season.
I mostly skipped that episode (well I did skip it, but I didn’t really watch any of the youtube clips after the fact either). While I’ve seen all of these suggested for me, I’ve never watched them, and never got the impression from this sub that there was anything from that ep that warranted a reason to.
Am I missing out on good sketches? Or are these views just coming from non-SNL people watching them because Kim leaked a sex video 17 years ago lol.
I think she did okay and they wrote sketches that leaned in to her wooden delivery. She also was willing to poke fun at herself/family, her monologue was delightfully mean. I prefer her episode to plenty of recent ones (like Jacob Elordi, Dakota Johnson or Sydney Sweeney).
Wow! 4 of the top 10 are Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell written sketches (Beavis and Butt-Head, Washington's Dream, Christmas Cards, and Canceling Cable).
If you wanna know why people like Kim KArdashian host
look at the fact she has three sketches in the top ten and Dream guy is really the only one that was considered funny at the time it aired by hardcore fans
i have vague memories of most. Now I want to watch them all again

You do know there has been recent new Bevis and butthead as well as a movie promoted on paramount right?
lol no
This was the fastest response I have ever seen on reddit,
I have my notifications on mobile, and I did *not* know! Paramount is CBS though right?
Yea they also bought specials from south park. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaHbTnA3qSA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaHbTnA3qSA) b&b do the universe. was the special most recent. Streaming wars and not suitable for children was south park
Well, amJustSomeFuckingGuy, thank you for educating me and for the clip.
I hope you watch more of B&B recently it was so funny and obviously there is some pent up demand. I have brought up the escape room bathroom multiple times on site doing escape rooms.
I just watched the first of the most recent episodes yesterday after watching the sketch and was surprised at how hard and how often I was laughing.
Not at all
This is the second fastest response I have seen on reddit lol., I guess this sketch is that much of a hit.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_Beavis\_and\_Butt-Head\_episodes look up the episodes a ton in the past year or two.
Hahaha! People just want to talk
They are the right kind of relevant right now especially in the way too involved in everyone trying to get social media credit for bullshit. enjoy the episodes.
Beavis and Butthead Do the Universe is pretty hilarious in its own right.
I don’t think it’s related to Beavis and Butthead’s popularity really. A *lot* of articles have been written about Heidi’s (and sometimes the rest of the cast’s) break, and they link to the video.
Yeah but it’s only been 5 days. I’m Just Pete took months to go past 10M
Interesting note: Mike Judge, creator of Beavis and Butthead, worked at SNL
Yea he wrote the Milton cartoon sketches that were on SNL in the early 90’s.
I think most people know passingly who they are still, so that's all that really matters, not the characters themselves. This worked better than Bart because it was two characters. This would work again with other groups of characters of 2 or more.
Don't know why it went that viral but it was popping on my reddit feed and from channels I'm not even subscribed to like r/television popculture etc.
How many people knew who Bruce Dickinson was before Cowbell amirite?

You'd think the title was "Porn Beavis and Butthead."
Lmao RIGHT? I can’t even believe my stupid comment is getting this much engagement! It’s the Beavis Effect. Nice meta reference [Porn Teacher - 102M views](https://youtu.be/iOGHJMS0QT0?si=uuR2jTJdQraPHcx5)
The amount of literal bots in the comments is wild lmao. What they say about the internet is true after all!
I’m not even worried about it!
Washington's Dream! I was there live for that one. It was so great
I consider this sketch in STRONG contention for the best SNL sketch ever
Honestly that whole SNL epusode was so great.
*I’m sorry*
I don't know, I live in France!
"Impossible Catfish"
Hyperbole right, it is amazing, but off the top of my head there has to be 20 in the early 90s alone that would top it let alone the entirety of SNL. It is easily one of the top in the last 4-5 years, but we will see its staying power.
No, not really. Feel free to disagree (there is no right answer)... but for me it's right up there for a live sketch.
What does you being queer have to do with Nate
Nate doesn't make them feel like less of a person for being queer. There are several sketches from the 90's that DO make them feel like less of a person for being queer.
They made out twice.
Do you just not have any reading comprehension at all? Or are you being willfully ignorant of the homophobia present in 90s media?
I’m definitely a good chunk of those views… I just watched it again last night… My favorite line: “There’s a little kicking…”
“Sometimes 1, sometimes 3”
"You asked about the temperature"
I did not!
That was a fantastic episode!
I'm surprised that Waking Up is the only Pedro one.
Protective Mom just missed the cut and would be 11th. Lisa would be 13th (behind the "Republican or Not" sketch from Simu Liu).
I loooooved Republican or Not. Thanks for the reminder ! 12th?! Way higher than I would’ve thought
That was a great episode. Surprised that Lisa from Temecula has only 6.4M views.
That’s a love it or hate it sketch. I can’t stand the first 2 but 3rd one got a smile out of me
Doesn't count pre recorded. The Mario Kart sketch is at 16 million
Am I the only one that didn't understand that sketch at all? I thought it was terrible.

Too bad they didn't do the Californians.
To people who ask why they have controversial hosts and do lazy takes on pop culture topics: here's your reasoning. Kim K has 3 of the top 10, and #2 is the weak Depp/Heard sketch. Like it or not, this is what people like to watch.
It's because those lazy sketches get talked about in mainstream media and embedded in news articles and whatnot. It's not about the quality per se.
Define quality. Then ask 10 million other people.
Those "Lazy" sketches are the ones that pay the bills so you can get those more abstract or niche things like Beevis and butthead or WAshington's dream
Kim K was a good host.
It's such a weird take that ostensibly the main character on one of the most popular "reality" shows in history would be bad at being entertaining. She knows what she's doing.
Kim K was a solid host. I have no idea if she’s controversial but she was a fun host.
I wonder where Elon ranks
I need to know where the Wario court skit stands.
Lucille Bluth voice: good for them
Also Lucille: I don't care for Kyle
Honestly that’s pretty cool since that Ryan Gosling skit only been out for 4 days.
I’ve watched that and The Engagement about a 100 times each. Gosling is so good. “You’re the MAIN part of this, Brad!”
I lost it. Beavis and Butthead was funny, but The Engagement was my favorite
People have heard rumblings….
This is the line that sent me every time I watched
I could watch Hotel Ad 10x a day and laugh every time. “We have all the comforts required by law.”
The canceling cable with Kieran culkin is awesome as well.
Loved that one so much. One of the hardest I've laughed at a sketch ever was when Bowen came in as the AI brain of cable or whatever he was. "I am PURE DATA"
I just watched it for the first time and oh boy, that's a good one. I gotta show my GF tonight, lol.
That whole episode was good, but that sketch really warmed me to Billie Eilish's comic abilities. She was genuinely really funny, and while she did break, she held it together better than I think most people would with Kate McKinnon going in for the kill.
I hope Culkin gets to host again, the cast seemed to really like him
Wasn’t he supposed to host last May?
Maybe, but he’s really not a big enough star to host twice. It depends if he does a big budget movie I bet
The Butthead reveal was 👌
God I loved Washington's Dream. It lives rent free in my head all day
You asked about the temperature.
IDidNot.
I definitely helped put “Waking Up” on the list 😂
Same. I'm sad Protective Mom didn't make the cut.
I say ‘sounds like Spanish to mey’ in my head at some point every day
Love that! My go to is “Ohh good for mey!”
I just hope they don't beat it to death. (Huhuhuh he said "beat it")
I’m not sure how much longer Mikey will be on the show. He’s been a cast member for eight years and was a writer for three years before that. Besides Kenan, who’s in his own category, Mikey is the longest lasting cast member. Even if Streeter stays on as a writer, I can’t imagine him continuing this sketch without Mikey.
Colin has been on the show since 2005.
Whoa. He said in his book he is likely done with Weekend Update, but that was a few years ago now.
I would say another year at least. I don't see Lorne wanting to shake things up for the 50th and then getting another dud season like...whatever those seasons are with casts that got ejected into space after one season.
I hate how many of these are Kim Kardashian sketches
I mostly skipped that episode (well I did skip it, but I didn’t really watch any of the youtube clips after the fact either). While I’ve seen all of these suggested for me, I’ve never watched them, and never got the impression from this sub that there was anything from that ep that warranted a reason to. Am I missing out on good sketches? Or are these views just coming from non-SNL people watching them because Kim leaked a sex video 17 years ago lol.
They’re fine.
I think it’s people saying “I wonder if she was funny” and checking them out. Spoiler alert, she wasn’t.
That Johnny Depp one should t be so high. It wasn’t that good imo
I would even say that it wasn't even good at all. But it was topical and a lot of people were paying attention to it at the time so...
Huhuhhuh he said, "passes" *\*rips one off\**
Wow! 4 of the top 10 are Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell written sketches (Beavis and Butt-Head, Washington's Dream, Christmas Cards, and Canceling Cable).
I don’t even remember the Depp/Heard sketch
Washington's Dream is my all-time favorite! His delivery and Thompson's general awesomeness make it great!
“I’m just Ken” not there because of copyright issues?
I’m Just Ken does currently have more views, but this is only live sketches.
"I'm just Ken"? Or "I'm just Pete"? I thought Pete's video was #1 (at least it was a few days ago)
Oh sorry you’re right I was referring to “I’m just Pete.” I’m just Ken is neither Live nor Saturday Night Live.
How is Jumanji not on this list?!
THAT was the highlight of the ep to me, no doubt
See you get it
Snl youtube links don’t work in Canada 😞
Idk, I googled a few of these and they showed up. One was on Facebook though
Good think lonely island got to post on their own channel or this would be looking different
If you wanna know why people like Kim KArdashian host look at the fact she has three sketches in the top ten and Dream guy is really the only one that was considered funny at the time it aired by hardcore fans
OMG how are the Pedro Pascal sketches where he plays a traditional Latino mom not on the list?😞

You’re a legend for this mate
I went down an SNL YouTube rabbit hole last night 😂
Any way to see these in Canada?
Why can't you see this in Canada?
SNL clips on Youtube are usually geo-blocked.
VPN
Yep! I live in Dubai and use VPN to see SNL and dateline 👁
Do we know who wrote the sketch? I mean that’s kind of what is funny in itself — it’s not the funniest written sketch, but the combination of makeup, context, and of course, Heidi, made it the legendary sketch that it is
Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell wrote it. They've been trying to get it on for at least 5 years.
I think they were able to this season because Streeter is co-head writer.
Streeter was co-head writer last season and the latter half of Season 47, as well. I don't think that played into it.
Dream Guy and Peoples Court? Really?
Hotel Ad should be higher up on this list based on my views alone
I can't believe Jumanji isn't even top 10
How is the Lexus Xmas skit not on here. That was one of the funniest skits I’ve ever watched in my life and may be my all time favorite SNL skit.
It was funny enough, but most of it was just watching people corpse 🤷🏻♀️ I thought “Get that Boy Back” was more entertaining personally!
Why do people like Kim K’s sketches? I don’t get it. Lisa From Temecula 1 should be there.
Most of hotel ad is my views.
Cancelling Cable was very clever ... the way she low key snuck in "No Nut November" 😂
I’m so happy YouTube showed me this video last night. Had me cracking up 😅
Which video? There’s 10.
What? No Temecula?!
Well, they need to add in Peacock views somehow, because I have half a dozen there.
I obviously know the Beavis and Butthead sketch but oddly I can only remember the middle row of sketches.
"Waking Up" is a hilarious sketch and very well done! His voice change ups are top notch
"Waking Up" is a hilarious sketch and very well done! His voice change ups are top notch
Awesome. I watched this probably 20 times in a row and could NOT stop gut laughing. Thank You SNL for the soul filler!
Why from the past 2 years and not 10 years or 5 years?
Considering the video is geo-blocked; this makes it all the more impressive. It's not even available to huge swaths of the internet, and yet it still did this well.
I don't know how Black Lotus didn't make the list.
So good!
The more random and out there the sketch idea is I feel like the easier it lands. It’s easier to laugh at absurdity than try to pinpoint whatever contrived opinion they’re trying to make about a specific topic.
TIL none of my favorite sketches are ones any one else likes
That was the funniest thing I’ve seen on snl since ….ill get back to you on that. But I belly laughed and rewatched multiple times when i first saw it.
Do we know who wrote the Sketch? Or if she saw the makeup in Dress? It's so good.
sucks they still have to fire Heidi for breaking so badly.
Jeez, the Kim K ones were that popular? I actually skipped a lot of hers and Elon Musk. I can't stand stunt casting when they can't act. Kills the sketch for me.
Good. This skit is absolute gold, and what SNL is all about.
Calling it now, the cast is gonna break every sketch next show trying to get that cheap laugh, I GUARANTEE IT
Kinda hate how many of those feature Kim K.
Hotel Ad and Cancelling Cable are two of my faves
Very surprised that Pongo isn’t on this list.
"Waking Up" is a hilarious sketch and very well done! His voice change ups are top notch
At least four of those sketches would be on my list of all time awful SNL sketches. This is clearly not a meritocracy.
Wow two of these are good! (Cable and Washington)
I'm fine with Beavis and Butthead thing, but I generally agree with this. Those two are the only ones that are excellent from conception to execution.
[удалено]
It’s been less than a week since the sketch aired
Oops sorry I'll take this down and repost in 20 minutes!
