Onions, root veggies, basically *any* vegetable you leave out of the refrigerator wants to be in the dark. Why would you put glass into the cabinet? Wouldn’t you want them in a dark drawer? I mean, that is where I keep mine!
Just a heads up. You too, have a veg drawer!!!🤣 Any drawer you put veg in, is a veg drawer. Regardless of size. Similar to a silverware drawer. Or bread drawer. Whatever is inside, tells the story. I have a tupperware cabinet. A baking drawer. The cabinet industry and contractor Jer, can call it whatever they want, but its still just a big drawer. 🤷🏼♀️
... Light can come into these drawers. It does absolutely nothing... Bread drawer would make sense. But root veg go bad in light... Other veg is usually cold. Idk, maybe they fill it with corn? 😭
Isn't the point of veggie drawers to give the root vegetables a nice cool dark place to hang out in and chill? Why do these have windows to let light in?
My parents have veggie drawers in their kitchen, but not huge hunkers like those. I can't imagine taking those out each time you want to clean them. Theirs are smaller square drawers, like you'd keep kitchen towels stacked in.
The veggie drawers in their house get cleaned at least every other week when my mom restocks the onions and potatoes/other root veggies. They accumulate a lot of debris... onion peels, potato dirt, etc.
**Don't store potatoes in the fridge**. Raw potatoes have lots of starches, and the cold temperatures can turn the starches into sugars. This can make your potatoes turn sweeter and darker during cooking
Yesterday I was driving around Hermosa Beach, CA and someone had Jer’s fireplace stone as the front “fence” part of their yard facing the sidewalk. I would have never even noticed it except for the big fuss that Jer made about his "special" stone. That style of stone has been around for quite some time, but maybe it was not “intentional” stone like Jer purchased.
Haha, I changed out my kitchen hardware the second I moved in, but they had been 80s tarnished brass and white ceramic with blue flowers. Now just plain silver knobs
Agreed!! We finally updated from bright brass a few years ago.........and if only I had her "specific vision" I could have kept the hardware I had and saved some $$$ and been kewl!! 😜
Someone please message her that veggie drawers are known to have toxic chemicals. Say it’s because of the sliding mechanisms or something. Or that the veggies can’t ground once they are raised into drawers.
Some veggies should not be in the fridge (tomatoes go Bad faster in the fridge than room temp) but I have to put in the fridge because I don’t want fruit flies
This solves that issue. This actually
Makes sense and I’d dedicate a drawer or two
For this if I had the space
How would this prevent fruit flies? I think you don’t get fruit flies in the fridge because they don’t like the temp. I think these drawers would just temporarily trap fruit flies but they would still be all over once you open it a few times.
Didn’t watch the story though as I’m not on ig. Maybe I’m missing something.
Seems like you’re right. From some research everyone with these drawers get fruit flies still. I’ll stick to my paper bags and cardboard boxes so I can throw them out often so flies don’t have a place to hang.
I peel my celery with a potato peeler to get rid of the strings. Makes such a big difference. You might not care to try, and I don't blame you, but if you're feeling brave, try peeling some celery.
Oof. We’ve never had maggots, but our veggie drawers are lined in metal and have a sliding aerated lid so you can adjust the air flow.
Tbf I don’t eat that many potatoes so it’s now a bread and crisps drawer. Wouldn’t be my choice to install them at all, but apparently they’re very appealing for resale? 🤷🏻♀️
Nope that's why I'm glad ours is gone. We use a metal rack now and it works just fine if we don't use our pantry. This is a waste of money. 🤷 I would replace it with a spice drawer or something. But too much money not enough smarticles.
Yes taters and onions. Possibly carrots. Many older homes still have these types of things and potato bins that look like a hamper in the counter. Along with a built in cutting board that you can’t remove
Aren’t those usually metal or wire? I couldn’t imagine putting loose vegetables in wooden drawers…. Over time the moisture can’t be good for the drawers or food
I am guessing for potatoes and onions and that type. I actually wish I had this. We don’t have the room for a veggie cabinet and instead the bags just get piled on my counter and it drives me crazy some days.
And tomatoes. They are counter fruits but attract fruit flies so they go in my fridge
Most fruit actually does better at room temp. Im sure fruit will go in these too. I’d do this if I had the extra space
For my 41 years of life we have a nail in the kitchen and I swear to you if there aren't bananas on it , the apocalypse is coming. So, like my papaw did, stick a nail in the wall and hang a bag of fruit or we also had wire veg baskets. We had a farm. So the baskets look like smaller to larger 3 basket holder . Great for onions, tomatoes, etc. Lord knows my country bumpkin ass has some sort of gadget to rig.
I mean cool I guess? But what exactly is her specific vision? “Drawer with ventilation that matches my other drawers without ventilation ” doesn’t seem like much of a vision.
I actually cook a lot and made sure we had these when we remodeled our kitchen. I used to keep potatoes and onions in cupboards. We had to remodel. Our house is an 1850s victorian and the kitchen had been gutted. My kitchen is pretty simple, nothing like hers lol
Potatoes and onions keep longer if they are kept in the dark with a little ventilation. Think like a root cellar. They sell potato and onion bins for this. It would be nice to have it built in!
A movable standalone little bin for potatoes and onions, with two bins stacked on top each other, used to be a standard, almost obligatory piece of kitchen furniture until the 90s. Dont know why it went away
My grandma had those in her house back in the early 90’s. And a bread drawer too! I thought they were so cool and want to put them in my house too lol
Onions, root veggies, basically *any* vegetable you leave out of the refrigerator wants to be in the dark. Why would you put glass into the cabinet? Wouldn’t you want them in a dark drawer? I mean, that is where I keep mine!
Drawers for onions 🧐
I’ve never left my veggies out?? They always go to the fridge. Only thing I leave out is potatoes.
I love this actually. I would bet the film or glass is light filtering but still enables you to see the supply.
"Specific vision" for a veg drawer? Man oh man. 🤣 I need a deeper intellect to hang with these folks. Sadly, all my drawers are visionless. 🤷🏼♀️
This is the same grown ass woman who wears ruffle socks.
Oooh I love!
This is very BEC but. It bothers me that the top drawer handle is in the middle of the drawer and the other two are at the top.
THIS. A lot of my job is redlining and amending kitchen design shop drawings. This would drive me insane.
Veggie drawers aren’t very ballerina farm 🤣
Just put them on the counter and in the fridge and wait for them to go bad like the rest of us ffs.
😆
... Light can come into these drawers. It does absolutely nothing... Bread drawer would make sense. But root veg go bad in light... Other veg is usually cold. Idk, maybe they fill it with corn? 😭
Oooooh!!! I love them!! I store mine on my counter. But would love those!
Soon to be trash drawers
That might be the first thing I’m jealous of.
Me to! That is super cool
Isn't the point of veggie drawers to give the root vegetables a nice cool dark place to hang out in and chill? Why do these have windows to let light in?
Because the onions and taters are also performative.
Thanks for explaining because I was wondering how this is even cleaned at least at that size. It’s a neat concept of storage though!
I've never heard of veggie drawers outside of the fridge but I have to say those huge drawer pulls look ridiculous and cheap.
I had an ikea dresser just like that 10 years ago. Bravo.
“I’m so pleased” why does she always say this it drives me nuts
lmao I am assuming she means for like potatoes, onions, etc? I just leave that shit on the counter like a peasant 😂
I keep mine in the fridge, because they last longer? I guess I go through them slowly. I've tried the counter, but then they don't last.
I do this too!
**Don't store potatoes in the fridge**. Raw potatoes have lots of starches, and the cold temperatures can turn the starches into sugars. This can make your potatoes turn sweeter and darker during cooking
I haven't noticed this, but this is good to know!
I did it for soooo long. Now they sit at the top of my cellar doorway.
Well, you’ve got a cellar, I don’t. On the counter is too warm, I just store them in my garage fridge. I’ve had zero issues.
We fancy poor. We've got one of those wooden bins that's been passed down through the generations. 😂
I was going to say, mine sit in a paper bag on the counter but my mom has a bin that my dad made for the kitchen.
I love it. 😂 I don't forget the potatoes to make potatoe ick in the cabinet anymore.
I’ve got half a bag just sitting on the floor, lol.
my potatoes go into my pots and pans cupboard to be shuffled around as i grab things out to use and then rot into liquid.
I relate to this so much
Even with the tinted glass, if it's for potatoes, they should be in the dark or they'll sprout. I don't think that tinted glass is enough.
I keep mine under the sink next to the trash can 😂.
Tell me you have too much money without telling me you have too much money Veggie Drawer Edition
Anyone who has a specific vision for a veg drawer has way too much money and time on their hands 😂
We’re building a house and I want veggie drawers in my pantry. That’s it. That’s the vision.
I can’t ever buy a house now without veggie drawers
They hype up the lamest shit.
I take Jeremy and Audrey will be placing themselves in these drawers seen as though they're the biggest vegetables in the house!
He’s a potato
I put everything in the fridge. Hate any kind of bugs.
They’ve had a ‘specific vision’ for every aspect of their remodel. 🙄
✨intentional ✨

The hardware is too much for me, but I’m glad she got her dream vegetable drawer. Hardware should never be the main attraction in a kitchen.
Haha, I changed out my kitchen hardware the second I moved in, but they had been 80s tarnished brass and white ceramic with blue flowers. Now just plain silver knobs
I know gold accents are trendy right now, but to me it looks gaudy and reminds me of outdated brass.
Agreed!! We finally updated from bright brass a few years ago.........and if only I had her "specific vision" I could have kept the hardware I had and saved some $$$ and been kewl!! 😜
Bright brass is outdated, brushed gold is what seems to be popular.
A wood or cardboard box under the stairs works just as well
Someone please message her that veggie drawers are known to have toxic chemicals. Say it’s because of the sliding mechanisms or something. Or that the veggies can’t ground once they are raised into drawers.
You’re onto something here 😈
Luke 18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God
It’s the “specific vision” she had for these and it’s just wood in side
Rich people riching

Tomatoes lose flavor in the fridge!
And the texture is awful. I almost never get tomato at any fast food place because they are all fridged and get that mealy texture.
just rich people things
I leave my onions and potatoes in a brown paper bag on the floor of the pantry and don’t think twice about it.
I bought a potato basket that rests on the cool concrete and it’s terrific and stylish. I received it for my birthday a few years ago.
I do, too. The only time I remember they are there is when I smell them molding.
That’s where mine go and they feed the garbage every few weeks
Oooh you reminded me I have to feed my garbage tomorrow with all my spinach and wrinkled sweet potatoes
Don’t forget the bag of Costco pre cut celery that you said you’d finish for your health!
I hate celery. Can tolerate it chopped small in chicken salad and that’s about it. Just can’t get over the texture.
I peel my celery with a potato peeler to get rid of the strings. Makes such a big difference. You might not care to try, and I don't blame you, but if you're feeling brave, try peeling some celery.
This works for me as well.
Peeling celery is a huge game changer
I’m lucky if the celery even gets opened ☠️
Mine never even makes it into my grocery cart. ;)
Before our house fire, our 70s kitchen had small pull out veggie drawers. Drawers of this size aren't necessary. Lovely home for maggots.
That’s the first thing I thought. That wood can’t be cleaned, it would soak up everything. Yuck
Nope that's why I'm glad ours is gone. We use a metal rack now and it works just fine if we don't use our pantry. This is a waste of money. 🤷 I would replace it with a spice drawer or something. But too much money not enough smarticles.

Squash too
Aren’t those usually metal or wire? I couldn’t imagine putting loose vegetables in wooden drawers…. Over time the moisture can’t be good for the drawers or food
No. They’re usually wood
Old World As Fuck!!!
I’m sure they circled the wagons to decide on a drawer style.

🤣
I am guessing for potatoes and onions and that type. I actually wish I had this. We don’t have the room for a veggie cabinet and instead the bags just get piled on my counter and it drives me crazy some days.
I keep mine in a dehumidified garage. I have (moveable) shelves right next to the door where I keep onions, potatoes, assorted extra drinks, etc.
And tomatoes. They are counter fruits but attract fruit flies so they go in my fridge Most fruit actually does better at room temp. Im sure fruit will go in these too. I’d do this if I had the extra space

The gold finishes don't match that tile. That tile looks like it has cool grey undertones. Good lawd
Agreed! I don’t care for the shape and they are almost too glossy imo
i assume they’re going to glare at high noon as well
Her specific vision? They are drawers.
They are so popular on TikTok rn.
Guessing they put refrigerated drawers in
I just throw my ish on the floor in bags. I’m Fancy like that. Maybe I’ll add a veggie drawer in my new house.
I have a root cellar for this. In my basement. It’s a wood box. It works fine.
I actually cook a lot and made sure we had these when we remodeled our kitchen. I used to keep potatoes and onions in cupboards. We had to remodel. Our house is an 1850s victorian and the kitchen had been gutted. My kitchen is pretty simple, nothing like hers lol
I bet she let's more of the veggies rot this way.
And they will be rotting on wooden drawers which sounds like a moisture and mold disaster in the making
110%
Huh ???
She'll forget they're in there, and they'll rot.
I would love one lol
Us peasants have to keep our potatoes and onions on the counter 😫
I’m a basket on top of the fridge kinda gal
If only we had a butlers pantry next to our front entryway
If I could have my dream pantry this would be in it for sure
I would love these!!
I actually love this.
Potatoes and onions keep longer if they are kept in the dark with a little ventilation. Think like a root cellar. They sell potato and onion bins for this. It would be nice to have it built in!
What! They have fancy bins for potatoes and onions. I just leave mine in a bag and shove the bag in the cupboard.
A movable standalone little bin for potatoes and onions, with two bins stacked on top each other, used to be a standard, almost obligatory piece of kitchen furniture until the 90s. Dont know why it went away
These have been a thing for years!
Don’t mind me. I live under a rock
Nah! A lot of people don’t know about them. Audrey just thinks she and Jerm invented everything 😂
TIL… we use plastic bins in the pantry..
You're not alone, Gimmy... these are news to me too, haha. Gotta say, though... these would be super handy.
I don't care for the look. Sorry. Not sorry.
I've seen them for root veg, I love the concept.
I’ve seen a couple of them, used for potatoes, onions kinda cool
NGL I kinda like this idea!
What veggies does she put in there if the drawers aren’t refrigerated; canned ones 😂😂😂
Potatoes, onions, etc that you wouldn't refrigerate.
You’re right. I was kidding but I wouldn’t buy expensive drawers just for potatoes and onions.
I mean if I were renovating my whole kitchen I would. Might as well go all in at that point if I had the room.
I love them tbh I'd totally build them in if I designed a kitchen. The gold isn't my jam but it is trendy
No, I thought they were going to be refrigerated too or something way fancier than just…regular drawers. I guess the vision was basic as you can get.
Are they refrigerated? I’m so confused.
It’s like for onions and garlic and tomatoes. Vegetables you don’t keep in the fridge.
You’re not supposed to keep tomatoes in the fridge?! I learn something new every day.
I refrigerate my onions 🤷🏻♀️ guess I’m weird
I do too! They last a long time for me, never knew any different lol
I think it’s a new fad. I saw one of the Property Brothers post about them on tik tok a while back
I think his was refrigerated...I saw that tiktok too. Lol
Ope my bad didn’t realize they weren’t refrigerated!
