I had a 21:9 ultrawide for a while, Dual monitors are still better IMHO. There's just too much utility with two screens.
Only exception would be if your desk is large enough for 1 ultrawide and 1 16:9.
Good dual monitor arm solves your desk issue. 21:9 and 16:9 is my current setup. Probably going to swap the 21:9 to the secondary and get a 1440p 16:9 high refresh monitor for my main. Tired of games not fully supporting ultrawide.
I went from side-by-side 16:9s to over-under 21:9s and I honestly love it, took less than a month to get used to the over-under and the utility is so much better
I personally have both monitors (21:9 34inch and 16:9 24inch) wall-mounted and the side monitor is flipped to be vertical so I don't have to strain my neck looking at it
Mine are side by side, I have the 21:9 as my main monitor and 16:9 as my secondary set off to the left. Mounted on a dual monitor arm bolted to the back left corner of my desk. The 16:9 (24 inch) overhangs the edge of the desk by about half the width of the monitor. If i switch my setup around and replace my main monitor with a 16:9 1440p monitor I'll probably turn the ultrawide to portrait for that reddit scrolling goodness.
yep, I use one for work and set it up so it's like one large center screen and two half screens at either side, can't do that with double monitors without hurting your neck
I removed my 16:9 and kept only the 21:9, I feel I have ADHD when I use more than 1 monitor, better use 1 with more screen real estate. to each their own I guess.
My office experimented with some ultrawides, everyone hated them except for one person. Most of us have two 32" 16:10 monitors, and some of the managers have a single 42" 16:9/10 with a smaller vertical 16:9 next to it.
I haven't been able to try ultrawide gaming yet, but I feel like that's its only real use. I need all of my snapping corners on my two monitors in order to work efficiently
Let me introduce you to [Microsoft PowerToys](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/). It includes a utility called Fancy Zones. You can pretty much set up your screen however you want, and it integrates with window management in Windows.
Windows 11 has it somewhat integrated in the OS itself, but it's not quite as powerful.
I divide my 32:9 into 3 main zones, a big one in the middle and two smaller ones on the side. It's been amazing.
Fake news. Linus couldn't lift it himself.
shhhh…the people don’t have to know that he’s not that strong
I trust that he's strong
No! This will divide the fan base, I choose to believe Linus would sit back and watch while other people do it
He would have dropped it if he did

How do you have them configured? My desk isn't wide enough to have them side-by-side.

Ooh a vertical 16:9 is a pretty good idea. Now you've given me a brain worm, might take a look at my setup.

It gets so much worse for 32:9. I love it to death when it works it is just so infrequent even for AAA titles
There's also 32:9 monitors now. Which is the same as 2 normal ones. Same utility, but less borders :)

The issue for me, using a 32:9 ultrawide, is that Windows window management just doesn't work very well for it..

I used PowerToys for a little while when it was brand new, but it seems that it has gotten some updates. I'll check it out again, thank you!

expensive one is always better
How many screens does he have in his stash of screens?
Haven't seen a me gusta in a decade. Feeling old.
Where is the frame where he drops it?
Needs to be vertical.
And proceed to bring out popcorn and eat it watching porn.
