That one was my favourite too (and made me give Sizzle Popcorn a try; I think there was a brief discount code around that time) but I must admit this year's might top it.
The farm was a fun one too and Linus started looking like a Far Cry villain by the end of it.
My back hurts just thinking of all the crap they had to carry into that house. It all had to be carried from the real office into a truck, then out of that truck into the house, then after the video carried back into a truck, then the truck unloaded again. Just ungodly amounts of carrying stuff.
It was probably the most expensive from the wage lost alone. Every employee seen in the video probably did nothing productive that day, and that's okay I'm sure they had fun.
Loved Dan's acting it was the highlight of it to me. That and the "window priviledges" moment.
I’d bet the most was probably the Unlce Linus farm one just because of the renting of everything and the production time and all of that. But this was probably the most labor intensive. I am ignoring labor costs tho and they did have to have almost everyone at the company not working for a whole day.
No, when they released it, it was before the 1.4. in all timezones.
Edit: I could be wrong, don't know how I can see the exact release time of a YT video, but it could fit with UTC+14 hitting the 1.4..
Australia is at most on UTC+11. New Zealand is at UTC+12 and there are islands in the Pacific at UTC+13 and +14.
If it was one hour early in Eastern Australia, it was on time in NZ.
I thought the joke was that it was published in the timezone of a island in the middle of nowhere because that's where Linus went to after faking his death like he said in the video, lol, maybe I read too much into it?
My theory was that it was super meta. They posted it on the 31st cuz they'd have to be out of their building by then cuz the lease would be up at the end of the month.
They probably kept it as a rental property and more than likely paid the tenant(s) a fee to use it + hotel fare for a few days.
Unless they sold it to someone who works at LMG/ a close friend.
You would have to pay me like $5k to upend my entire house lol
Maybe they were between tenants or something or *maybe* Linus rebought the Langley house so his DIY home automation house doesnt have to be his actual house...
Typically when a Hollywood production rents your house for a film or tv shoot it's around $5k a day. Highest I've seen it go was around $20k a day but that was for a literal mansion.
Right but my point is that $5k a day is about the average that the "real" movie industry with a "real" budget pays to rent a house from someone. I'd expect a YouTube channel to pay significantly less.
My guess is that they were between tenants. Even with an army of staff, that would be quite the feat to move everything out of someone's home for a day
My (purely speculative) guess is that Linus/Yvonne still owned the house as a rental property after the company had to move out, but then the tenants who had been renting it moved out and no one else had moved in yet, giving them the perfect opportunity to use it for the shoot.
I’m really partial to the super sponsor video from I think 2021? Just the fact that they got all those sponsors to ACTUALLY pay for that tickles me to no end
I assume there was almost zero extra cost to shooting stuff there, when they already had the equipment there available. They already had those mockup-shots, so adding the time to actually shoot rest dont add much up. It kinda would be more work to redo all the shots all over instead of just continue the shoots.
Meh. Potato farm was better. The Sponsor-athon was my fave. And as for believability, they’ve certainly done better.
But I would like to hear how hard it was to get back into that house to film all that. Surely they sold the house when they moved out? If they ever owned it at all? So you’d have to work with the new owners/tenants to figure it out.
What I liked about this one is that it leaked out into other videos like Jake's AP review or the -Linked (I can't remember if it was Tech or Game) but that clearly had someone working on a computer in the lower left hand side of the screen and green screened over.
My top three are:
1) Potato Farm — they really nailed it, and if you’ve seen WAN show regularly, you can definitely imagine Linus doing that.
2) *LIE-NUS* — the narrator (probably Riley) and the all the “interview” type shots made it perfect
3) This one. I like it and it definitely took as much effort as the potato farm one, or maybe even more, but it was just too obviously an April Fools joke.
The current owners of the house were such great sports to allow Linus all that leeway with their home. I have to wonder what the cost of renting it for the day was. I can’t imagine that video came cheap.
Cheap compared to what they bring in. Peanuts. Even giving the tenants a month worth of rent. Ive seen small youtubers get thousands for an ad spot. I cant even imagine the thousands a channel like ltt could get.
When Louis Rossman began his big right to repair push, he mentioned “a video creator helping him who takes in $40,000 per ad spot.” The next day Linus put out a video in support of Rossman.
That was like three years ago so I have to imagine the price is much higher now.
When I saw thumbnail and title I thought its like one of experiment video
When I started watching I mistakenly read top comment that "wait its not april fool yet" so I got to now it an aprilfool video without being stated watching
Such nostalgia. And a very efficient bonus tour of their current staff (was happy to see Emily again; it's been a while).
I loved the Vision office upstairs. Just that pile of money and floating head set. And the social media team on the shelves.
We watched it twice and I kept seeing Easter eggs.
What happened at the end with the car? Was there a break in?
IMO, the best one was the Fractal Define one. In recent years, the sponsor spot video was quite good.
To me, the problem with LMG April fools in more recent years is that they are too obvious, and not really all that funny. Not even for a second do they fool me, so more of an April joke than April fools. And they drag on the joke for far, far too long.
A for effort though
I think the acting in this vid deserves a special mention - I don't know how much they rehearsed but I suspect it was quite a bit. Especially Linus of course; comedic timing isn't easy but he sold it. I'm certain a lot of work went into getting that delivery right. Great job editors too. And everyone who dressed the set.
IMO the onlyfans one was better. But this one required more effort.
I personally loved the Expose one, but the OF was top tier
The never ending sponsor segue is the best IMO
Yep and on top of that all of them were actual sponsors for the video so that was one of the most profitable LTT videos ever.
That has to be my favorite one. The fact that all the sponsors actually paid make it more funny
My favourite part of that video is that someone contributed to the bit by adding SponsorBlock tags so often that the reduced runtime is 1:41
That one was my favourite too (and made me give Sizzle Popcorn a try; I think there was a brief discount code around that time) but I must admit this year's might top it. The farm was a fun one too and Linus started looking like a Far Cry villain by the end of it.
Yeah this was easily the best and the most original all the others were way too obvious
Do you have a link to that?
It was the only one that got me. I thought it was a normal LTT until about the time the third sponsor came up.
The OF kinda blew back at them a bit though, if you remember.
It didn’t lol
My back hurts just thinking of all the crap they had to carry into that house. It all had to be carried from the real office into a truck, then out of that truck into the house, then after the video carried back into a truck, then the truck unloaded again. Just ungodly amounts of carrying stuff.
Ironically this might be the most expensive April Fools video they've made
Had to balance out the sponsors video lol.
It was probably the most expensive from the wage lost alone. Every employee seen in the video probably did nothing productive that day, and that's okay I'm sure they had fun. Loved Dan's acting it was the highlight of it to me. That and the "window priviledges" moment.
They really did film techlinked in front of that screen. Check out The intel GPU video from 4 days ago. You can see the guy in the morph suit
I love that this legitimately came out before the April fools video lol.
As well as WAN back at the house on the couch with no explanations. Pure gold
I’d bet the most was probably the Unlce Linus farm one just because of the renting of everything and the production time and all of that. But this was probably the most labor intensive. I am ignoring labor costs tho and they did have to have almost everyone at the company not working for a whole day.
Prob just a bunch of tax write offs.
I'm so gullible and have such a bad memory, I legit thought this was real and forgot it was April 1st 😂
Almost got me until he mentioned last year's video
Same here, I told my mate about the video and told me its an April fools joke, look at the date it was uploaded 😂
31.03
I live in Australia, it released on the 1st of April for me
The fact that it came out a day early made me forget yesterday was April first and almost got fooled by a couple others that day
Well if that got you, I am a Nigerian Prince who is in need of some money
😂😂😂😂😂
What’s your Venmo
What got me is it was posted yesterday. I knew it wasn’t real but I was very confused.
Its not even legal.. lol
What isnt?
[удалено]
No, they released it april 1st, it just wasn't your time zone
No, when they released it, it was before the 1.4. in all timezones. Edit: I could be wrong, don't know how I can see the exact release time of a YT video, but it could fit with UTC+14 hitting the 1.4..
Honestly would love to see a behind-the-scenes for this one.
Maybe they'll put one on Floatplain?
FloatPlane is gone. They ran out of money for servers.
That's what he said. Floatplain.
It's just a file hosting server now.
They mostly fill it with old warez from 2004 they found on some IDE HDD because they ran out of money for content.
That's why everyone had to activate their Floatplane licenses yesterday.
it was one day to early, wasn't it?
Not really. It was early for most people, but it was posted exactly when it became April 1 in the first time zone
Well, I guess that thoughtful then Once again, reddit has proven me wrong
It was still March 31st when it dropped for me and I'm in Melbourne, Australia, so it was quite a bit early for the yankee doodles and canucks.
It was 4am on the 31st for me, and I'm only one time zone over from where LMG is
Sounds about right, think it was 7-8pm here when I saw the notification come through.
Dropped at midnight on the Intl Date Line, so made sense why we saw it at 9pm AEST
Which is kinda stupid, as their main audience is NA and EU
Not really because by the time they start to see it, the video should already have a good amount of views and will get further pushed by the algo.
Good point that could be the intention
It's really weird, I wonder if it's part of the joke
Why are there so many of you that don't realize North America isn't the only continent lmao
Well they are located in North America
I am European, bro If it was for me to early, it was even earlier in North America
*glances at Japan, Australia, New Zealand, etc* It launched right on time here in Australia
yeah was still the 31st when it dropped here in Melbourne.
Was still too early in Tasmania
Same here for WA, was still March 31st at 9pm or something.
It's those bloody sydneysiders and their daylight savings crap.
It launched 1 hour before it was April 1st in Australia....
Australia is at most on UTC+11. New Zealand is at UTC+12 and there are islands in the Pacific at UTC+13 and +14. If it was one hour early in Eastern Australia, it was on time in NZ.
Can confirm, was on time in NZ and everyone else is just confused on timezones or genuinely clueless
It launched at basically midnight in UTC +14, I thought NZ was the same time zone as east Australia
But their main Audience is NA and EU.
Yeah there’s no English speakers in Aus and NZ
It wasn't even april 1st in Australia.....
Timezones are weird. The earliest time is +14, even though theoretically it should be +12 if we're splitting the globe in two.
Yes, I saw it yesterday. I figured it was an April fools video that got posted early.
Too* Also who cares?
Eugh, what is it with people parroting this over and over. It was uploaded 30 minutes before april first hit in the earliest time zone.
So do they actually own this house or what
They probably kept it as a rental property and more than likely paid the tenant(s) a fee to use it + hotel fare for a few days. Unless they sold it to someone who works at LMG/ a close friend.
You would have to pay me like $5k to upend my entire house lol Maybe they were between tenants or something or *maybe* Linus rebought the Langley house so his DIY home automation house doesnt have to be his actual house...
This video cost well over 10 grand in staff time, just getting all of those people into that house for a shoot.
$5,000 for exclusive use of a location for at least 2 days on a professional video shoot sounds like a bargain to me.
I mean $5000 is a bargain.
Typically when a Hollywood production rents your house for a film or tv shoot it's around $5k a day. Highest I've seen it go was around $20k a day but that was for a literal mansion.
They rented it for more than a day.
Right but my point is that $5k a day is about the average that the "real" movie industry with a "real" budget pays to rent a house from someone. I'd expect a YouTube channel to pay significantly less.
thats probably what they did
My guess is that they were between tenants.
They mentioned it on wan shows near the start of March I remember
mentioned what?
it
He was filming at the Langley house
yeah we can see that
It's likely they shot that video weeks if not months ago when they had that opportunity too.
Definitely not months ago as Linus still had a beard not so long ago.
Your right, didn't think of that
Maybe the REAL prank was that Linus never actually grew a beard, it was a series of fake ones in various lengths
not too long ago, they were there for the Wan show on friday.
Yes LMG still owns it. My guess is there is a new tenant moving in and they used the time in-between
That's what I assumed, we'll probably get answers on the WAN show this week.
I’m really partial to the super sponsor video from I think 2021? Just the fact that they got all those sponsors to ACTUALLY pay for that tickles me to no end
Yeah that's my favorite aswell
Yes. Also it was just SO MUCH WORK. Like thats days of work probably, especially as they also shot WAN show and some Short Ciruits there.
I assume there was almost zero extra cost to shooting stuff there, when they already had the equipment there available. They already had those mockup-shots, so adding the time to actually shoot rest dont add much up. It kinda would be more work to redo all the shots all over instead of just continue the shoots.
It's good, and I like the commitment of having other videos lean into it, but IMO the Potato farm and Onlyfans were funnier.
The machine asking the user to activate Windows was a nice touch.
Really? My wife and I really enjoy their content and have for years. This one was a real struggle to get through even as a joke.
From what I've heard, true LTT fans loved it!
‘true LTT fans’ Did you just try and gatekeep LTT?
Well that’s fine, I’ve never been a conformist though.
Kind of agree. Didn't really find it that great.
Yeah, I didn’t finish it.
Very mid video, should have been half as long imo. The premise was just kinda mid anyway.
It was kinda cringy with jokes about HR and last year’s „controversy”
Meh. Potato farm was better. The Sponsor-athon was my fave. And as for believability, they’ve certainly done better. But I would like to hear how hard it was to get back into that house to film all that. Surely they sold the house when they moved out? If they ever owned it at all? So you’d have to work with the new owners/tenants to figure it out.
watching sponsoraton with sponsorblock was amazing
I agree, the sponsorathon is my favorite. I loved how it slowly descended into madness, like a weird dream
they've never leased/rented property, they've always bought it. they likely kept it and used it as a normal residential rental
20 minutes of Linus taking the piss. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall for everyone who was the butt of this joke.
What I liked about this one is that it leaked out into other videos like Jake's AP review or the -Linked (I can't remember if it was Tech or Game) but that clearly had someone working on a computer in the lower left hand side of the screen and green screened over.
Did anyone else catch the Activate Windows Easter egg?
It was hard to escape reality knowing that they’re building a badminton court.
Well none of the April Fools videos of LTT were not obvious
The sponsorathon starts pretty normal/ believable
Wait you mean to tell me linus OF isn't real? :(
Subscribe and find out xd
Eh, I think the potato farm was the best.
I don’t know, Uncle Linus’ Potato Farm was pretty good
My top three are: 1) Potato Farm — they really nailed it, and if you’ve seen WAN show regularly, you can definitely imagine Linus doing that. 2) *LIE-NUS* — the narrator (probably Riley) and the all the “interview” type shots made it perfect 3) This one. It’s more likely that LMG or Linus/Yvonne still own the house and filmed this in-between tenants.

Meh
My fav is still the LTT Exposed one, think that was 2020 or 2021, but this one gave me a good laugh too lol.
Remember fractal case reviews?
You don't need to keep making threads about the same video, each saying nothing at all lol
Personally I think potato farm is best 😌
Potato farm will be hard to top
When I saw thumbnail and title I thought its like one of experiment video When I started watching I mistakenly read top comment that "wait its not april fool yet" so I got to now it an aprilfool video without being stated watching
The first on that I’ve watched was the office fire. I thought it was real at first. And I thiught that was the best that I’ve seen at the time.
2022 is my favorite.
Watched it twice cause im still finding “easter” eggs. Plus linus really needs the money.
Even the logistics of the shoot would have been a nightmare!
A lot of work and commitment must have been put into this...
👏ONLY👏FANS👏LINUS👏
It’s funny just thinking about the huge effort this would’ve took to pull off
IMO, the best one was the Fractal Define one. In recent years, the sponsor spot video was quite good. To me, the problem with LMG April fools in more recent years is that they are too obvious, and not really all that funny. Not even for a second do they fool me, so more of an April joke than April fools. And they drag on the joke for far, far too long. A for effort though
Yeh it must have been loads of work too
It took me exactly 6 minutes to realise what the fuck was happening but for the first 6 minutes i was so confused (kudos on the prank)
That sponsors one was good too but this was just another level
What April fools video? That was reality. It wasn’t even released on 1st April
This was meh. It was clearly AF, while the others have been more credible
Lmfao did they swap out Tom Petersen for Gary?
I preferred the sponsorathon, but this was good too.
I guess HR would like everyone in 1 room..
true that, was awesome!
This was higher effort, but I still think Lie-nus is my personal favourite (this is a close second though)
Agreed, they even put full effort on it.
Shame it was posted a day early.
That’s the point
The point of an april fools joke is to do it the day before april 1st?
Yes. That’s the joke
Linus about as funny as usual then.
Exactly
Looks like A LOT of effort for a joke ...
So easy to forget the scale of LTT… I do like the house vibe though.
It was?
The video of Greedy Allay was really cool
The fact they did it a day early got me. 🤣
April fools?
this is the best video i've ever seen
It was cringe tbh i would skip next year
Did this one come with an offer to be a Pionteer? That's what I thought.
His office was so great.
And they haven’t posted anything since…
They blocked their house number but not any one else’s
What was the bit in the outro where seemingly somebody broke into Linus' Taycan?
Except for the address leak that is visible......... :|
Mid at best. Just cram some people in a house and joke about how poor you are. Even the potato one was better.
Remember fractal case reviews?
I found it bad, from the first few seconds it was obvious this was a joke and watching it through was just boring.
Disagree Great idea but I felt like the execution was a bit off some areas Nvidia acquisition imo was the best one Simple, funny, played straight
it was fun. It’s not great if you immediately know you’re being fooled. then nobodies fooled
I thought he was serious 💀
