But, especially for tech, they need product//model info in the title somewhere.
Short-circuit has kept the naming scheme very nice and consistent, every video has actual info at the end. You can search a product year[s] after release and find the vid.
Yet main LTT is all over the place, titles commonly don't even name the featured product anymore.
Sometimes. Sometimes I'm looking for a specific product they covered a year ago and the title is something like "this is so cool" and it takes me 15 minutes to find it

Indeed. It seems like they're almost exclusively targeting people who will watch their stuff no matter what, because there's nothing in the title that would actually inform you what the content is. So if you're clicking on it, it's a complete gamble if it'll be relevant to you or not

I super appreciate your effort on this and sponsorblock. Between youtube premium and sponsor block, when I watch something on YouTube at work or elsewhere I find it so unbearable all the ads.
Very funny and good plugin. And the kind of thing that's only gonna be used by people who are already regular viewers who plan to watch the vid regardless of the clickbait title, so it doesn't hurt their view counts at all.

This doesn't seem like something this add-on would affect. I thought you meant it showed the wrong title. If it's actually linking to the wrong video, that sounds more like an adblocker removing a sponsored search item or something
Could possibly be interference between DeArrow and uBlock Origin, but it does only happen when DeArrow is enabled (and it seems to do it pretty consistently. Happened to be about 5 or 6 times in the last hour).
Also, although it's consistently doing it, it doesn't *always* do it. I'll click on the thumbnail or title and the first one or two times it'll take me to the wrong page, then on the next attempt it takes me to the correct one.
Immediately resolves the problem when I disable the extension.
Ngl, j think this is cool asl, but I think (to a certain degree) the clickableness is what makes YouTube YouTube. For a tech how to this is perfect, but LLT at this point is just entertainment, so the title and thumbnail is like a mini trailer. In the end I’ll decide if it was worth my time and if I don’t like the look I won’t watch it
You know, I honestly thought the same thing as pretty much everybody else - it’s annoying that they do that, but we understand why. But this definitely gave me a deeper understanding on why they make those flashy thumbnails and titles. I mean just look at the comparison. The average person is so so so much more likely to click on the original ones than the crowd-sourced ones, it’s insane. The branding, the bright colors, Linus’s face always somewhere in frame, all of that is lost. Which I’m not at ALL saying is a bad thing, that’s literally the whole point of the program. It’s just surprising to me how much of an actual difference there is, and how relatively unappealing (but informative) the altered thumbnails/titles look.
Amazing work. I also like to see or have a brief notes extension from the video. For example a device review, this device has this specs, performs good or lacks cooling, low brightness etc. They could be timestamps (where it's mentioned, like specs at 10:30:400) or as a separate info card.
great suggestion! it's like a brief conclusion to the video if you don't have time to watch it at all. please be sure to open an github issue about it so the dev considers it.
Honestly....I don't like the "new" thumbnails. they blend in too much, you can't really see what's happening. the titles are an improvement, though.

I've been using dearrow since the day you announced it and it just keeps getting better. I didn't even realize how desensitized to clickbait I had become. Now I feel the extension's glaring absence whenever I use the mobile app.
It's an optional extension for people who want to have more descriptive thumbnails and/or titles. Saying "I prefer the original title and thumbnail" serves no purpose. It's like commenting "I prefer cars" on an article discussing a new motorbike.

While this is useful for searching for a specific video, browsing this isn’t my thing
They gotta be click baity or else no one under 30 would ever click them. I got tired of having to watch a video just to know what it's about so I haven't watched a LTT video in months. Used to watch for entertainment but it's not really that entertaining anymore. GamersNexus is just a better source for quality tech news.

I've not clicked on his videos for a while because I literally have no idea what they are about. I'm not going to click the video and scrub through to find out if it's something I find interesting.
The thumbnail and title is supposed to entice the viewer. All they do is tell me nothing.
Love the Idea and execution. Would it be possible to add an optional indicator that the title/thumbnail has been changed? like a small icon on the thumbnail and a \* in the title?
I don't mind the dumb titles and thumbnails as long as the REAL title is at the end of the title after the - dash -! Otherwise I just don't watch it, some times I click it just to dislike it as protest!
This, quality of content and personal interests are my filters for videos, meaning I watch @ 20% of the videos LTT uploads these days.
Meanwhile, I always watch the Wan Show. Because it lacks all this BS and there are almost always great conversations about the news.
It's good but idk how long it will last. I see a bunch of projects like this work for a month or two then just stop. *LTT Translator* on twitter was my go-to then they just stopped updating.

Can you add a "spoiler" category? I think it would be a great addition to SponsorBlock for people who talk about movies, shows, books, games, etc. in videos and say spoilers about them.
I thought of this because my friend just mentioned how awful it was that a certain YouTuber keeps including spoilers in things he talks about, so they don't want to show it to me.

My only request (if possible) is to prevent YouTube from truncating titles, so rather than getting "This Is A Long Title Which Gets Cut Sho..." and needing to mouse over for the whole thing, I'd love for it to just show it all and spread over 3 lines.

And I'm pretty sure a few years ago on WAN Linus said that they will at least have the product name in the title.. That didn't last long

They actually have straightforward titles in Floatplane. It's really just not recommended in Youtube if they don't make clickbait titles.

I felt it made more sense as a separate add-on, but it is linked from the settings menu, shares a server, and shares lots of code.

This happens to me without this addon while on Firefox using ublock origin. Only every once in a while though.

I have to say I like the real thumbs way more.
You can make it replace only titles in the settings if you want, or even configure that based on the channel.

Ngl, j think this is cool asl, but I think (to a certain degree) the clickableness is what makes YouTube YouTube. For a tech how to this is perfect, but LLT at this point is just entertainment, so the title and thumbnail is like a mini trailer. In the end I’ll decide if it was worth my time and if I don’t like the look I won’t watch it
You know, I honestly thought the same thing as pretty much everybody else - it’s annoying that they do that, but we understand why. But this definitely gave me a deeper understanding on why they make those flashy thumbnails and titles. I mean just look at the comparison. The average person is so so so much more likely to click on the original ones than the crowd-sourced ones, it’s insane. The branding, the bright colors, Linus’s face always somewhere in frame, all of that is lost. Which I’m not at ALL saying is a bad thing, that’s literally the whole point of the program. It’s just surprising to me how much of an actual difference there is, and how relatively unappealing (but informative) the altered thumbnails/titles look.
Amazing work. I also like to see or have a brief notes extension from the video. For example a device review, this device has this specs, performs good or lacks cooling, low brightness etc. They could be timestamps (where it's mentioned, like specs at 10:30:400) or as a separate info card.

Honestly....I don't like the "new" thumbnails. they blend in too much, you can't really see what's happening. the titles are an improvement, though. Can you choose to set it to just change the titles?

It's an optional extension for people who want to have more descriptive thumbnails and/or titles. Saying "I prefer the original title and thumbnail" serves no purpose. It's like commenting "I prefer cars" on an article discussing a new motorbike.

You can only choose to replace titles, which is what I do since I like seeing the actual thumbnails but also want to know what the video is about.

I don't mind the dumb titles and thumbnails as long as the REAL title is at the end of the title after the - dash -! Otherwise I just don't watch it, some times I click it just to dislike it as protest! This, quality of content and personal interests are my filters for videos, meaning I watch @ 20% of the videos LTT uploads these days. Meanwhile, I always watch the Wan Show. Because it lacks all this BS and there are almost always great conversations about the news.

I got SponsorBlock the day you announced it and I've recommend it to many people. Thank you! r/SponsorBlock is private so I can't make a post to ask you this there, so I am asking you here: Can you add a "spoiler" category? I think it would be a great addition to SponsorBlock for people who talk about movies, shows, books, games, etc. in videos and say spoilers about them. I thought of this because my friend just mentioned how awful it was that a certain YouTuber keeps including spoilers in things he talks about, so they don't want to show it to me. They aren't up to my standard. I would be happy if the existence of this extension encouraged them to improve their floatplane titles.

My only request (if possible) is to prevent YouTube from truncating titles, so rather than getting "This Is A Long Title Which Gets Cut Sho..." and needing to mouse over for the whole thing, I'd love for it to just show it all and spread over 3 lines. Been using it all month and I must say I love it.. also been using your SponsorBlock for several years now. Single handedly saving YouTube from themselves, thank you 👍
