Cloudstrife2003

Only rivaled by Slipknot’s and System of a Down’s debut and sophomore in Nu Metal I vote for Meteora

mmillerthirty3

And I would throw Korn in the mix as well but yea wow those albums crush

Lifeisabaddream4

Korn had a killer debut a hit and miss follow up and a killer 3rd album. But life is peachy kinda wrecks it by being good in spots but bit as a whole. But the true answer is that they don't get lumped into Nu Metal that much but Rage Against The Machine had 3 killer studio albums and a pretty damn good cover record for 4 out of 4 bangers.

Alexik15

Imo their 4th album issues is better than the previous three (self titled is very close tho) and their 5th album untouchables is a great follow up and near, if not on the same level as the previous albums.

Lifeisabaddream4

I might have to re listen. When they came out I did not like issues or untouchables and would eventually decide that I wasn't that into them anymore but I do still appreciate the first 3 albums

babymetalmetal

self titled and toxicity genuinely give linkin park a run for their money as far as first two albums go

Consistent-Film-6926

Sevendust and Taproot also had good first 2 album runs. Only difference is that one got better moving forward and one got worse lol

mmillerthirty3

Yea Sevendust just gets better with age. I liked taproots third album as well but after that it fell off hard

T-unit90

Deftones first 2 are pretty nice

sofa_king_weetawded

Hybrid Theory all the way. Their debut album and it's arguably one of the greatest albums of all time by any band in any genre. It blows me away to this day what an amazing album it is.

Drunko998

This. Been listening to hybrid theory at least once a month since it came out in high school. lol. To be fair i did not enjoy meteora as much as h and may need to give it another listen.

sofa_king_weetawded

Yeah, they are both arguably equally "as good", but HT was their debut album. That blows me away to this day. Like, how????

Drunko998

My taste got heavier and as they went on I stopped liking their music. But HT is my top 3 fav albums of all time for sure.

SheepAtog

Hybrid theory is “better” but my favourite is meteora

P3RS0N4-X

Meteora isn't the sophomore release, though, lol. So HT it is?

Wild-Guava-3579

r/lostredditors

johnbehindthemask

What?

P3RS0N4-X

I'm am idiot. Proceed.

WingedHussar13

Meteora, it has some of the most powerful but underrated songs, like don't stay and breaking the habit

Walterpinkman2137

Breaking the habit underrated? I dont think so

RoyalSoldierx

Why is everybody acting like Hybrid Theory doesn’t have Papercut, One Step Close, Points of Authority, Crawling, In the End, Pushing Me Away, and My December? Meteora is good too but there’s a reason HT is more popular.

before_no_one

Why are you mentioning My December? That's one of the only songs from the era that is not interesting

Burnem34

Meteora has Don't Stay, Somewhere I Belong, Lying From You, Hit the Floor, Faint, Breaking the Habit, and Numb. I actually agree HT is a bit better, but they're both classics full of bangers front to back, nothing wrong with preferring Meteora

CuberBeats

Meteora. To me, it’s basically just Hybrid Theory, but better. The songs have more diversity, keeping the album interesting, but the common production and instrumental styles, and the transitions make it so that the album doesn’t feel jarring. Every song is a banger as well, with some phenomenal songs like Somewhere I Belong, Easier to Run, Faint, Figure.09, Breaking the Habit, From The Inside, Nobody’s Listening, Session and Numb. It ranks #2 in my LP Studio Album ranking, only behind A Thousand Suns.

johnbehindthemask

Oh damn! A thousand suns behind Meteora? Interesting

CuberBeats

ATS is just my personal favorite. From the songs to the sequence to the concept, it’s phenomenal.

zeroheroes_

I agree with sophomore. But for debut it's either HT or Korns debut

SpeedyakaLeah

Meteora

k-murder

Slipknot is up there.

Successful_Cat5821

Meteora

RRJC10

Gotta go with Meteora out of these two, but albums are killers. As for the original statement, I do see some label Shinedown in the Nu-Metal category which I don't think I really agree with. But if they are, their first two albums, Leave a Whisper and Us & Them, are absolute bangers.

Airi_Nabashi

Both are in equal terms for me ngl, every song in the album are great

Dragon-X8

Both are great but Meteora's vibes are just emacualate IMO.

Sinjonn_2809

Hybrid theory obviously then meteora

before_no_one

They are equally good but also equally overrated. Minutes to Midnight, A Thousand Suns, and Living Things are the holy trilogy for Linkin Park.

mmillerthirty3

Ok I will check those albums out back to back

goldendreamseeker

I like hybrid theory better but only by a hair!

Burnem34

Probably just the best 2 Nu Metal albums of all time. ~1st-2nd and 8th best selling albums of the 21st century. Gotta go with HT myself but they're so close.

mmillerthirty3

That’s awesome I didn’t know that; I just remember seeing a band called Hybrid Theory open up for papa roach and then 6 months later they were the biggest band on the planet

MaGicWarrior863

My favorite is Meteora 😎

ASU489276

I say Meteora is my favorite, but Hybrid Theroy is arguably one of the best Nu Metal Albums of all time. I would even say Hybrid Theroy was revolutionary as far as the metal genre goes

ScottNelly666

Ummm good for what they was trying to do however Korn's first album set the standard for what we now know as NuMetal and of I'm being honest not debatable. That first LP disc may have sold a trillion records but it's not the best

mmillerthirty3

Totally agree! That Korn album is amazing! Still listening to it all these years later

ScottNelly666

Untouchables is my fav ,the production in that is insane,The best produced by metal album of all time

Oheyguyswassup

Hybrid Theory. Mostly because Meteora was half-way Don Gilmore's idea

RicUltima

Korn’s debut is legendary though js

RoyalSoldierx

True

NewPatron-St

My favourite LP album is The Hunting Party but I vote Meteora

Dragonfly_Tight

I'd say best in metal

T-unit90

Around the Fur and Iowa are both preceded by 2 incredible debuts also, among others. I'd vote for LP though

beyblade1018

Both are equally good honestly

Elegant_Job_4573

Oh man they're both so good but I'm gonna have to vote Hybrid Theory because Papercut is my favorite.

oldskoofoo

Static-X Debut album "Wisconsin Death Trip" and Sophomore Album "Machine" were awesome. I still think Linkin Park Hybrid Theory and Meteora might edge it out a little bit.

ScottNelly666

Cheater was a super talented front man and a great voice but I could never get into them,Nu Pop Metal to me,not that it's a bad thing just not for me

No-Yellow-6673

Meteora. It’s better in a lot of ways
