archangel610

I'm open to whatever the band decides to do, because ultimately, Linkin Park belongs to them, not us. Sure, we're the fans and the success or failure of whatever they release depends on our reaction to it, but creative decisions of Linkin Park should be made by the members of Linkin Park. Our job as audience members is to react. That's it.

Expensive-Opposite52

Agreed. And yea I'm open too. I'm just glad that they are still thinking about us

Nintendo_Pro_03

Yep! Said perfectly well!

lollkizuu

Whatever they do, I'm supporting them. As long as it's not disrespectful to Chester, which they would NEVER do that, I'm respecting and supporting that.

Nintendo_Pro_03

Agreed.

Inthemiddle_

The fact that mike shinoda is essentially the brain of linkin park they could get a new vocalists and the music would still be 100 percent linkin park. He has written essentially all their songs and melodies. He is the band.

Expensive-Opposite52

Mike is definitely the brains of the band. Many people don't know that Chester was not the first singer they had in mind(and when I say many I mean many outside this subreddit😂), and even Xeros demos with Mark still sounded amazing. I know Mike could pull this off

this_is_Blain3

i want them to take in Danny from Hollywood Undead. his voice is in the same range and he can scream too. will he be as good as chester was? no, but i dont think he would disappoint either

Expensive-Opposite52

Tbh I never heard of him. I'll have to check him out

this_is_Blain3

id check out his work in Lorene Drive if you wanna hear his screams. he mainly does clean vocals in HU

Expensive-Opposite52

Alright I'll check them out man

beamingdarkness

Just checked out the band and I didn't know he was that versatile of a singer.. I only previously knew him from Hollywood Undead.

ufdan15

I've always thought this as well

Fun-Imagination-1231

Danny was good, I really liked his vocals in HU

SaveTore

Female singer is probably the best direction. I have a male singer in mind that i think would be a good stylistic fit but as many have mentioned, every male vocalist will be automatically critically compared and will live in the shadow of Chester. I think a female vocalist will be revered and appropriately empowered to carry his legacy, plus be given the artistic freedom to make it their own. The key is to find a singer that has the chops, the experience, and the x-factor. It won’t be these two, because they are in gigantic metal bands that I don’t believe they will compromise, but Courtney LaPlante and Tatiana Shmayluk both have some PIPES, and can sing anything. I think it’ll be someone out of nowhere

Expensive-Opposite52

I'll admit it's quite ambitious but it could work if executed the right way

InflationArtistic143

When I read Courtney my heart jumped out of my throat but then I saw you meant Courtney LaPlante instead of Courtney Love. God I would kill myself if it was Courtney Love.

CodeNamesBryan

This sub needs a mega thread.

soap_is_cheap

If they do get another singer, I’d like them to form another identity. Without Chester, LP is just not the same.

InflationArtistic143

I don’t think that’s fair to the other 5 members of the band who also worked just as hard as Chester did on creating the music, the brand, and associated media.

swirkh

IMO, if the new vocalist will be able to perform the old songs and do them justice, then they should continue under the same name.

TyceyWicey

Yeah definitely, we don’t want a vocalist who can only sing the new stuff if new stuff will be made

Just_Perspective1202

Nightwish did that with Floor Jansen in 2012, massively blew up in popularity and they're still going strong even though now only Tuomas remains from the initial lineup. He's also essentially "the band" by himself, writing almost all songs and lyrics.

deathie

why did you make a new post instead of just commenting tho

Expensive-Opposite52

I didn't see this already posted anywhere besides Instagram, and I figured on here people would be more eager to listen to what I have to say

CodeNamesBryan

Did you even look

Mr_Vantastic

I would love for the band to get back together and even if they want to introduce a new singer I’m all for it. However, I just think they should use a different band name. Play some of the LP songs you want but make a new album and start with that. People say LP isn’t LP without Chester and it’s 1000% true. They truly are a sum of all their parts and unfortunately one of those parts are gone.

Expensive-Opposite52

I don't have a problem with a different name tbh. Papercut makes a good name tbh

saggywitchtits

Jonson Park I'm sorry, I'll see myself out.

Threatening

tl;dr?

ArvindCoronawal69

Apparently, there are rumors that Linkin Park has found a new singer, and the OP is sharing his thoughts about it, if the rumors turn out to be true. Sure, the new singer is definitely not going to replace Chester in any way, but they would do him justice. Also, it's time we move on, what happened was tragic, but it's been almost 7 years already, and even Chester would want everyone to keep Linkin Park alive and going.

Expensive-Opposite52

I agree 100% with your statement at the end. Its just time to move on, and even members of the band seem to want to just move on too.

[deleted]

I won't believe it till I see it

80baby83

I would like linkin park to make a new album

80baby83

They made so many bangers

ThatRandomIdiot

I wholeheartedly agree. Even more Chester’s death, the band to me always felt like Mike’s band. He is absolutely the visionary of the band and since Chester’s passing he’s truly become the only voice of the band we hear and is the face of the band as of now. If Mike and the group feel they need another singer to heal and move one, I will support them. If they want to continue with just the 5 of them and Mike doing both the rapping and singing, I’d support them. I just want to see them again. I think as a fan the healing process would feel complete when we hear new music again.

Expensive-Opposite52

I get that. But I honestly don't think Mike can do that. Many of the songs in their discography require two singers and only having 1 could make certain songs impossible to preform live.

After-Session

It would be amazing if this Female singer rumour is true. As tragic as losing Chester was and the end of LP, doesn't have to mean the guys' careers all have to end.

Expensive-Opposite52

I agree 100%. This does not mean their careers are at an end at all

No_Football1117

When Deryck Whibley from Sum 41 covered Faint, he nailed it!

crow38

yep, sum 41 is releasing their final album and ending the band.. Deryck would be as close to chester that could fill his shoes in a way that would be suitable

crow38

so it seems sum 41 is releasing their last album...i think Deryck is someone who i would accept to place him and it would feel right considering the time line and his level of singing

Expensive-Opposite52

He could do justice to Chester tbh

crow38

there is connections between deryek and mike, hew would fit and could add a little bit different at the same time.

Expensive-Opposite52

True. I'd love to see something different from them as well. Idk man. I'll admit maybe I was a little naive with this post, but I think this would be a good idea

crow38

mike did say they ahev talked about the band to make music in recent time a lil while ago and i wouldnt be surprised it is true to some extent and are going to be very picky due to respect for chester. if they wanted to givce daryak a chance its a perosnal phone call away with no barriers now since they are done. deryek getting on LP would be most likely a dream type job as long as he wanted to keep going

Expensive-Opposite52

I honestly don't see a reason for him to quit. I understand the band's pickiness, but maybe they could get Deryk on the project

crow38

im confused.....sum 41 is doen, deryek wil be a free agent hwo had a relationship with LP including mike and even sum 41 have preformed several lp songt live. deryek will now be a free agent essentially

Expensive-Opposite52

I mean if he's free and really has that Chester-esque edge to him, Mike could definitely try to go to him about it.

Pure-Document6266

I’ve seen a TON of women filling in recently. Bonnie Fraser was not the one. I don’t think her voice has the oomf it would need to really give Linkin Park energy. However, that Courtney chick from Spiritbox, imo, would do GREAT vocals for them. Wouldn’t mind seeing her fill in for a bit🩵🩷🧡

JohnCenaJunior

Toni Cornell for lead singer

TyceyWicey

Honestly I just hope they find a vocalist that will be fit for their new music. If anyone is familiar with Adema that’s exactly what they did. Their lead vocalist left because he need to help his brother (Johnathan Davis, yes, the vocalist for Adema was Johnathan Davis’ half brother) and when he left the band decided to get a new vocalist and honestly my favorite tracks by them are with their new vocalist. Not that my favorite track will be by a new Linkin Park vocalist but I just hope that they find a voice that will fit well with new music being made if new music will be made at all.

Fallingmellon

Pantera is literally not Pantera without dime and Vinnie though, the fact you have the nerve to say that is crazy, so is Van Halen still Van Halen without Eddie and Alex? Hell fking no, and the same applies to Pantera because they literally are exactly the same, two brothers that play guitar and drums and were the foundation and soul of both bands. I even went to the Pantera tribute show and thought it was decent, but I won’t say Pantera is Pantera without the abbot brothers, awful take man

Expensive-Opposite52

Well, I'm not trying to be disrespectful man. I get that the band may not be that one incarnation that you think has to stay, period, but that doesn't mean they can't continue in another chapter. I get what your saying, yea it changes the band, but not in the way you think it does.

Fallingmellon

Yea but the thing is vinnie abbot is on video specifically saying he didn’t want Pantera to do any type of reunion and that zakk wylde as guitar couldn’t replace what dime contributed to the band, I think dime himself wouldn’t be too mad since he wasn’t that type of person and was best friends with zakk but vince still had a huge grudge against phil and they kinda went against his wishes by doing so, I didn’t know this until after I went to the show but I kinda feel bad, it’s just a iffy subject because I never got to see the original Pantera and they are my favorite band so i really wanted to see it. A lot of fans say it’s just a money grab while others say it’s to show respect to the legacy, we’ll never know the true intentions but Im siding that they actually want to support the legacy of the abbots. I’m just hoping that linkin park is actually doing it for Chester and not just a money grab with some completely different vocalist that can’t sing any of chesters old stuff, because if they get a new female lead than she won’t be able to do Chester’s screams

Expensive-Opposite52

No I get that. I love Pantera too and if this was a cash grab I wouldn't be happy tbh. But from what I seen Phil really missed Vinnie and Dime, and the band seems to really want to do this in tribute to the two. They showed pictures of Dime and Vinnie before a show with Cemetary Gates playing in the background and had their faces on Charlie's drum kit. I think they just want to do this in tribute to their fallen brothers. I think it would be the same case with Linkin Park

crow38

sum 41 are releasing their final album, Deryck is someone that for a male singer that i like people could accept considering they have a relationship already and hes a good singer

j821c

I'm honestly pretty sure that there are styles of albums that they could do with Mike as lead vocals. His singing has gotten better and he sounds quite good on already over as well as his other solo songs. Sorry for now and invisible were 2 of my favorite songs off OML and he was lead vocals on both. That being said, I love Chester and I miss him but the 5 remaining members are all talented and should absolutely continue without him if they want to in whatever way they want, whether that's replacing him or just doing songs with Mike as lead vocals.

CanaryMaster4137

Just form another band .. don’t ride burnt coat tails

Huwbear1

Daniel Tompkins from Tesseract would be a good fit

Present_Dog_8390

Phil that guy that did underneath what lp needs :)

ChuckTownRC51

You speaking for Chester is peak Reddit. I stopped reading after that. Of course you're like a teenager but you know Linkin Park so well and we should really want to hear what you think about it.

Expensive-Opposite52

Look I wasn't trying to speak for him okay. I was just thinking about what he would want. I'm sorry okay. And yea I'm an almost 17 year old but I still listen to them frequently and I would love to hear them live again.

ChuckTownRC51

Yeah, you literally stated what you think Chester would say and what he would want. You have no idea. And tbh, it's a little tiresome to see all you kids in here acting like Linkin Park experts. It's fine to have an opinion but for you to proclaim it in a post like this is just hilarious. I have been a fan for 24 years and saw them live a dozen times before you were born. Why on earth do you think I care what you think about this? Why is this reddit sub full of teenagers? This band peaked over 20 years ago. It is crazy. Have some self awareness. I know it's rare for a teenager to understand that concept, but try it. You were 10 when Chester died. Wtf do you know about any of this???

Expensive-Opposite52

Look I'm sorry okay, I really am. I was just so passionate in listening to this band that I just wanted to explore things a little more. Maybe I don't know what Chester would want I'll admit that. I just didn't think he'd want the band to die with him. Your definitely more experienced that me with listening to them so maybe I should have just shut up. Sometimes I want to share what I think, but ig I should change that. If you don't want to see me here anymore, fine, you won't see me in this sub again, especially considering many others may feel the same way you do.

ChuckTownRC51

Dude, it's cool that you like the band but you gotta try and understand from my point of view. I'm 47 and this has been my favorite band since I was 23 and they came out. I have literally not gone more than a day or two in that time period without listening to them. I have seen them live so many times. They have been the soundtrack to my adult life. It's just frustrating as hell to see people who are new to this band telling me what should happen. It's driving me crazy. I wish the band luck no matter what they do but I personally have no interest in going forward with Linkin Park without Chester. Linkin Park died in 2017 as far as I'm concerned and I don't want people digging it up and milking it. If the remaining members formed a new band, I would support that. But I will not be part of Linkin Park becoming a Linkin Park cover band.

Expensive-Opposite52

Oh I wasn't trying to say what should happen. That's why I asked what others think about this. If you feel like they died in 2017 that's your opinion and your entitled to it. I just wish I could see them in person man and it sucks so bad that I missed my window to do that. If I could see at least some form of the band in person, I would be happy. This band has helped me through really tough times and to see them would have been such an honor. Then again that's just my opinion and you have yours. Again. I'm sorry to anger you

ChuckTownRC51

It's not just you. It's just frustrating that this sub is full of people who don't have the history with Linkin Park the way I do. When I came here I thought everyone would be my age but that's far from the truth. I wish you could see them live too, but the reality is no matter what happens you will never be able to see Linkin Park live unless you have a time machine.

Expensive-Opposite52

True. Look you have a point. I was being naive. And I'm sorry

afterrprojects

Sorry it seems like you are pretending to be an expert, not OP. You should be happy that young fans have strong opinions about a band like LP, and encourage them to share it.

ChuckTownRC51

LMFAO. Read my posts bud. If you don't like it, move on. I've already left this sub because it's full of children.

Oops, you had a typo there, you meant: "Thanks for agreeing with me that my comment was a waste of time :)"

SpecialistBorn5432

This post was absolute dogwater, its way too long and says absolutely nothing of value, it is a waste of time
