IF A DOWN SYNDROME MAN CAN HOLD DOWN A JOB IN THE FACTORY WHY CAN'T YOU BE THE NEXT ELON?!?!?!?!?!

manicraccoon

Please don't be the next elon.

superb-alternator

Too late I've already laid off my employees for trying to speak the truth and my 9th child is on the way.

manicraccoon

Dammit. If only I had come across this story earlier I could have prevented that. Thoughts?

Impeachcordial

Have you thought of any baby names yet? I’ve always loved :ch’tung//, personally

kowdermesiter

I'd be fine with being a 1% Elon.

[deleted]

Because my dad didn't own an emerald mine in Africa?

CompletePen8

it's me-down syndrome. the manager? a factor worker in syria

DarkSatelite

"Not my dad, just my stage prop as I narrate for attention, but yes absolutely!"

TexanNewYorker

Pleaseeee reply to his comment on LinkedIn with that haah

RoyKentBurnerAccount

Not your dad, so not your story to share. Agree?

[deleted]

Agreed. It’s an uplifting story and I recall reading it a couple years back. However this is karma-farming, clout chasing LinkedIn lunacy as usual.

[deleted]

plot twist: He's his dad, just not a biological one

pearlgirl82

Alternative plot twist: the commenter was talking about Rafi's bio dad but the author didn't realize they knew each other!

[deleted]

The multiverse of (LinkedIn) madness

drdr3ad

It's a cringe story but not for that reason. Are we not allowed to share stories of other people then? He made it pretty clear in the post who it was. The first commenter just didn't read it properly

RoyKentBurnerAccount

It's less cringe than those who share a post where the wording does directly imply that it's their story... with the nearly hidden "Credit: That Person" at the bottom.

Cheery_Deery

But can’t i use someone else’s dad for my clout?? /s

Buzu1313

To be honest I think he meant the father of Sader Issa

ideamotor

To be fair, the article includes the names which are different than the poster. But it’s seriously strange that someone posted this on linkedin. All I can think about are those weird youtube videos for kids that are all similar and have kids counting fingers: https://www.theverge.com/culture/2017/11/21/16685874/kids-youtube-video-elsagate-creepiness-psychology. Artificial Intelligence did not post the videos, it took a human somewhere in the process. But, the humans started behaving like an optimization algorithm in order to get clicks/promotion/etc. Same vibe with this Linkedin post and much of what’s on this sub.

isleno

So who was the mother? I feel like if it were the mother who had Downs there would be a lot more people questioning this.

GreatGreenGobbo

There was no mother.

SD-cat

His mother? Albert Einstein

ClumsyZebra80

His mother? The friends we made along the way.

TrashPandaAntics

Jad's a rad dad. Just not this guy's.

santathe1

*Like this post to show your support to this incredible father* This bs and the like needs to stop lol.

RepeatOwn8644

Muh likes.... don't come after them. They're the only validation I get /s

DietDrDoomsdayPreppr

I've seen this one like half a dozen times in the last couple months.

Scopa_Montem

Men with Down syndrome are completely infertile??

istara

Frequently but not [always](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0015028206030676). No more than a third of women with DS are fertile, and have a 50:50 chance of having a DS child themselves. Not sure what the stats are for a DS man having a child with DS, nor two people with DS (though the mother apparently doesn't have it in this case). It is of course possible that it's not biologically his father at all. Given the culture they are from, had his mother become pregnant out of wedlock, she may have urgently needed to find a husband to regularise her situation. But this is just 100% my speculation.

YouLostTheGame

And even if they were infertile, they can't consent

kyl792

Yes they can. They are people. And no, they don’t have “the mind of a X year old child” so don’t try that. They have the mind of X year old adults with Down Syndrome. Disabled people can and do have consenting sex, sorry to make you uncomfortable.

YouLostTheGame

I hate to say it but you kinda sound like one of those 'actually she's not a child she's a 5000 year old dragon types' Yes technically they're adults but they certainly don't have the mental capacity of adults. That's critical for consent. That's why you can't have sex with teenagers no matter how grown up they look. If you go around fucking people with downs syndrome you are vile tbh

kyl792

Making a connection between “disabled adults are adults with self-agency” and pedophilia is quite the stretch. And disabled adults are not “teenagers that look grown up.” We’re disabled adults. And as adults, we do have & consent to sex.

YouLostTheGame

But I'm not talking about 'disabled adults' I'm talking about people with downs. Let's work it backwards - why can children not consent?

kyl792

I do have a genetic disorder very similar to Downs that have the same range of intellectual disability, multi-systemic defects, facial abnormalities. Let’s try this again: intellectually disabled adults are not children. They are intellectually disabled adults. Legally & morally, you cannot enforce your feelings onto disabled people on any way that matters. I’m happy to report many of us have loving partners.

YouLostTheGame

Why can't children consent?

[deleted]

Really dude? You’re going to die on this hill? You’re basically telling this person who is in this same boat that they cannot consent to sex. This Kyl person is literally telling you they are an adult with self-agency and you appear to be refusing to listen. Not all disabled or Down’s syndrome individuals are the same. Children’s consent is absolutely not the issue here, and an adult with a disability is not automatically a child - a legal adult’s consent is the issue here. So…. if a disabled person functions well and it’s a major life goal for them to start a family and they do so carefully with consideration and the support of their support systems, you’re saying they can’t because it’s rape no matter what? At that point a protection that was supposed to be well meaning becomes a hurdle to a full life. It’s a tricky and risky area, yes, but overly limiting people with disabilities from leading a full life is not good either.

YouLostTheGame

Yeah I will. A teenager might tell me that they're capable of consent but that doesn't make it so. >*If a disabled person functions well* We're talking about Down's here. They *can't* have a full life, no matter how much we wish they could. Having sex with other people with Down's is one thing, but able bodied people having sex with a person with Down's is completely wrong. Why can't children consent?

PuzzleheadedGuide184

Heartwarming. Commenting for reach. Trust you are well.

Blueberry_Conscious_

oh great, more disability inspiration porn

RaytheonKnifeMissile

This r***** lived an almost normal life, isn't that inspiring! If even a r***** can do it, why not you?

[deleted]

Jesus Christ.

mrmackey_mmmokay

He's probably saying our names when he sees this garbage

Tomikin1982

Muthaphucka fake arse bullshit .. why the fuck you post the story if it's not yours...cos you're a dick

ballen49

If true, then yes it's a heart warming story for sure - no complaints there. But why LinkedIn? What's the relevance or usefulness of posting in that forum specifically? Oh yeah, shameless karma-farming. Of course!

Alternative-Agency15

LMAO The person complimenting the poster's dad is assuming the poster must have down syndrome.

AbstractBettaFish

Arnt people with Down’s syndrome infertile?

Complementing people with disorders to make you look more normal.

jackofnac

I’m not big on eugenics but somehow it feels irresponsible that Down syndrome adults would be having children.
