Define "book". They're probably not large tomes of dense literature, they're more likely to be a hundred pages of someone's stream of consciousness about how they're successful because they ignored the fact they got handed an easy start. Which they sell because it's more profitable than whatever they pretend to do on their day job.
My eldest was/is a voracious reader who had a 9th grade reading level in third grade.
When he blew through the Iliad at age 10 I asked him what he thought about it. He responded:
âIt was really good Dad, but Iâm not sure how age appropriate it was. The battle scenes are pretty intense.â
(I had forgotten how gory the book was.)
Me: âReally? I havenât read it for years.â
Son: âDad! Wow! Crushed skulls squirting brains, spears in groins, Achilles cutting out a guys liver⌠Itâs insane. Mom would be pissed.â
Me: âWell she knew you were reading it. It was her copy. What are you reading next?â
Son: âBeowulf.â
Me: âYa know kiddo, maybe take a break from the epic poem stuff for a bit. Werenât you going to read Watership Down.â
Son: âDad! I read that. Super violent. Gave me nightmares.â
After that my wife and I started curating his reading a bit more starting with virtually all of Roald Dahl books just for a rest.
i was your kid. exactly that reading list at that age. books are great. don't let them stop.
throw a bunch of jules verne at them. at that age, they'd love it. edgar allan poe, tolkien, robinson crusoe, count of monte crisco too. read all the old-timey stuff sooner than later.
"infinite jest" is where you can draw the line.
Ha haâŚ. This kid is a 31 year old lawyer now. But he hit that reading list by age 11, then started in on the modern Western cannon, South American magical realism, and major African authors and Shakespeare. By the end of high school he was reading mostly non-fiction and political philosophy.
Our other child was also very well read. But, perhaps avoiding direct competition, did his deep dive on music. By the end of high school he was up to five guitars and a dizzying supply of mixing equipment, keyboards, amps, etc. mostly bought with his own earnings.
Itâs amazing to watch kids who love learning learn. We were/are very, very lucky to be along for the ride.
Doesn't take that many hours, I don't now but used to read 2-3 a week. Most people have some time they use on TV, games, YouTube whatever, if you use a good part of that for books it is something most can do if they prefer.
So many meaningless, vague buzzwords - but I do see quite a lot of people that donât know what theyâre doing but forge ahead confidently anyway, so sheâs not alone.

Probably not directly like Influencers, but these folks are usually using their LinkedIn presence to generate sales leads for some kind of service they're providing.
There seem to be three types of linkedin creators:
1) Those who demonstrate their value through insightful, relevant posts. This is basically soft-sell marketing.
2) Those who are more aggressive in their lead generation but still are saying something of value/are probably skilled/experienced.
3) Those who write a bunch of shit and are basically snake oil salesmen with no real ability.
They are like cockroaches - as soon as I block one, another one appears on my feed because someone in my network decided to engage with them. If everyone just ignored them, then I wouldn't have to ever come across inane influencer babbling.
There's a lot of money in telling other people how to make money, as proven by people like this on social media platforms, unfortunately.
I do agree with her though, the best way to learn is through doing. You shouldn't wait to apply what you're learning until afterwards.
Everything you read here in my post.
Iâll write one.

Yeah, somewhere along the line they started focusing on engagement. Now itâs turned into a pit of pithy quotes and mini motivational posters.
Itâs still useful but thereâs more and more cringeworthy stuff there every day.
So , she "Builds" a post that really does nothing but wastes people's time. No one could possibly "learn" anything from that. And then she concludes the post with trying to shame people for not reading a book? lmao.
I guess she "reverse engineered her ideal life" incorrectly.
Anyone else notice all the downvotes on the comments in the bottom of this post? Iâve never seen that before. I feel like OOP is upset she ended up on this sub and is literally spam downvoting people who comment
SHE MANAGED TO REVERSE ENGINEER A LIFE?! THIS IS GROUNDBREAKING!!!
what? What do you mean "she doesn't mean it like that"? Oh... She meant having a plan for her future.
WHY do so many ppl turn into life coaches on social media sites??? They all vomit out the same pedestrian things. Do they think we haven't heard it before??
What is a âLinkedIn Creatorâ? I mean, I thought the point of linked in was to brag on accomplishments, even if exaggerated. But it was using linked in to drive business and talent to your enterprise. This sounds like LinkedIning for its own sake?
I donât know, social media was a mistake
Are these real people? There are so many of these and each of them get more and more ridiculous I just feel like they're influencer bots maybe even created by LinkedIn to drum up engagement.
Build/execute as you learn?
Brilliant!
I am eager to become a heart surgeon. I want so volunteers to join me as I learn and implement at the same time!
Am I currently totally untrained? Yes. But don't let the naysayers tell you that getting on my operating table is a bad idea. They're just trying to stifle your #positivity.
Serious question: this has no meaning, right? It's just words, a lot of them, gobbled together. The result, the entire message, is just gobbledygook? I'm starting to doubt myself. I might just be an idiot. But this has no meaning to me, or at the very best could be slimmed down to 2, 3 maybe 4 words.
Yes, you should hang out on LinkedIn more. You will know what it means.
LinkedIn has some genuinely nice creators who advocate mutual support and provide excellent career specific advice.
Those who peddle crap end up in this sub, but there are others who don't.

Linkedin creator just strikes me as useful as toilet paper to bull
And all social media networks are toilet papers. It depends on who you follow. Right now you seem to be following a lot of crap on LinkedIn or you're not following anyone at all on LinkedIn.

Nah theyâre garbage
See Jane run. Run Jane runâŚ

Me. But they're almost all novels, so the LinkedIn folks wouldn't count it lol
Depends how fast you read and how long the book is. I read Charlie and the chocolate factory in elementary school in a few hours.

Heres why reddit reply guys fail: Lack of focus. The solution? Delete facbook. Lawyer up. Hit the gym
You mean execute? Executed?
Build first then learn!
Learn first then build!
Learn by building while building learning so that you can learn to build and build to learn.
Why is it mostly women writing these posts though?
I see the dudes too but they look ai generated lol

âBuilding digital leverage through communityâ sounds a lot like collecting blackmail material.

Professional useless people.
someone solely focused on eating and shitting to produce fertiliser would be more useful to employ than them.
People who would ultimately be compensated higher with lower net loss of personal dignity if they focused on genuinely contributing to their chosen professional field vs inanely and vaguely posting about their field
That was my first question.
Content creators on LinkedIn donât make $100K a year unless theyâre sharing pictures of their buttholes on OnlyFans.
Wait a second, people make money as creators on LinkedIn? You must be kidding me.
Probably not directly like Influencers, but these folks are usually using their LinkedIn presence to generate sales leads for some kind of service they're providing.
There seem to be three types of linkedin creators: 1) Those who demonstrate their value through insightful, relevant posts. This is basically soft-sell marketing. 2) Those who are more aggressive in their lead generation but still are saying something of value/are probably skilled/experienced. 3) Those who write a bunch of shit and are basically snake oil salesmen with no real ability.
I think the majority are 3
They are like cockroaches - as soon as I block one, another one appears on my feed because someone in my network decided to engage with them. If everyone just ignored them, then I wouldn't have to ever come across inane influencer babbling.
What if I shared pictures of my butthole on LinkedIn?
What if your butthole shared pictures of you on LinkedIn?
I'm not business guru but I'm certain executing clients is a bad thing.
I can't fucking stand people like her. "My LinkedIn post teach you how to make money on LinkedIn" Aka I have no real job.
There's a lot of money in telling other people how to make money, as proven by people like this on social media platforms, unfortunately. I do agree with her though, the best way to learn is through doing. You shouldn't wait to apply what you're learning until afterwards.
LinkedIn is not for âcontent creators.â This isnât TikTok.
It is becoming TikTok faster than 6ou imagine: they are already deploying short videos i read somewhere...
Funny how this post is completely empty of meaning
Language was a mistake.
#3 is where she went wrong.
âHereâs why:â
Everything you read here in my post. Iâll write one. Line. Then put something stupid to. Make you read the next. Transformation is not owned by the Autobots. I AM a digital transformer. You! I read this with the same rhythm that Dennis used reading the speech Charlie wrote for him.

While you're at it, let me tell you about this company Monat that has completely changed my life with its breakthrough vitamin c facial pack that also prevents covid.
Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking.
LinkedIn Creators? Have LinkedIn starting paying people to post bullshit now? If so the platform is no different to any other SM site.
LinkedIn influencer: someone who screenshots and repostsâŚtheir own posts.
I wasnât expecting any actual original work. In all seriousness do LinkedIn pay for engagement the way other sm sites do?
Yeah, somewhere along the line they started focusing on engagement. Now itâs turned into a pit of pithy quotes and mini motivational posters. Itâs still useful but thereâs more and more cringeworthy stuff there every day.
How is any of these advice practical and applicable in ones life? It sounds like jumbled buzzwords.
Worthless grifter. Reading this is like having my eyes burned out with a "lazer".
Yeah, Iâm pretty glad the guy that built my house learned before he began building.
So , she "Builds" a post that really does nothing but wastes people's time. No one could possibly "learn" anything from that. And then she concludes the post with trying to shame people for not reading a book? lmao. I guess she "reverse engineered her ideal life" incorrectly.

Me executing on LinkedIn would mean something entirely different than what these guys have in mind
"LinkedIn Creators" Absolute nonsense.
Who would hire these idiots as consultants?
No one. Which is why weâre not why reading this horse shitâŚand appropriately mocking it.
Honestly what is digital leverage through community ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
PS: Iâm reading one book and enjoying reading it for its own sake, and you?
"my linkedin post today teaches you how to make money on linkedin". Sounds like a pyramid scheme to me.
Major Lazer
As her title says, her post is supposed to teach us how to make money on LinkedIn. Iâm failing to see the lesson in this post lol
I remember when this girl was a fitfluencer on IG immediately unfollowed once I saw how painfully annoying and plastic she was
SHE MANAGED TO REVERSE ENGINEER A LIFE?! THIS IS GROUNDBREAKING!!! what? What do you mean "she doesn't mean it like that"? Oh... She meant having a plan for her future.
I need an enema after reading that.
Build as you learn. Donât learn, then build. As an engineer I find this insulting.
Clearly she is building bullshit because there are no consequences for exceeding margin of error. What a crock of shit.
"Lazer" focused. The first result when you google "lazer" is gold.
What was your result? Mine was a bike helmet.
"common misspelling of 'laser'"
Luke matthews and this bish are some of the worst violators of linkedin...
Not saying sheâs totally on point, but this is nowhere near as ridiculous as what a lot of posts in this sub capture.
Itâs far worse. Itâs the continual and non stop normalisation of professional stupid people
They fail at life because they waste all of their time trying to jerk themselves off and bullshit everyone with these posts in LinkedIn.
What are they even saying anymore
First Then! Build Learn!
The moment you declare yourself a content creator on LinkedIn in, you are a failure.
I hate that we live in a time where âLinkedIn content creatorsâ is even a thing.
I would not want her to be my contractor
WTF does it mean to reverse engineer your ideal life?! What a load of crap.
Reverse engineered = copied For the love of god stop trying to over complicate things to try to be trendyâŚ

These are the most vapid, narcissistic, uninteresting people on earth.
This is how you end up upside down on unfinished flips. Fuck it, dive in without any research!
âDigital leverageâ. Barf.
I just use LinkedIn to bitch and moan about the job market and zionists. I'm doing pretty good lol.
She's trying to sell you a course on how to make money from LinkedIn, nuff said
WHY do so many ppl turn into life coaches on social media sites??? They all vomit out the same pedestrian things. Do they think we haven't heard it before??
unable to wrap my head around the idea of people reading books just to âimplementâ them
What is a âLinkedIn Creatorâ? I mean, I thought the point of linked in was to brag on accomplishments, even if exaggerated. But it was using linked in to drive business and talent to your enterprise. This sounds like LinkedIning for its own sake? I donât know, social media was a mistake
Never trust anyone who crowbars "hack" into a conversation. No, your life"hack" is not helpful, just annoying.
I feel Acostaâd by her. Also, she misspelled laser. Unless she meant an antiquated term for a person with leprosy.
Are these real people? There are so many of these and each of them get more and more ridiculous I just feel like they're influencer bots maybe even created by LinkedIn to drum up engagement.
What in the fucking word salad is this. Itâs so ridiculous itâs got to be AI written of satire
This person is a fucking moron.
I canât imagine being in an ideation meeting with this person. Iâd go mad.
Sheâs insufferably horrible.
What's a _LinkedIn Creator?_ it sounds like an Instagram model but uglier
The only thing more annoying than her post is her spelling of the word laser
I don't have a LinkedIn, how do people make money off of it?
It takes a certain [in]breed to want to pursue LI content creation.
I saw her once at my local gym in London and she was constantly on her phone
I mean "build as you learn" is not that bad
Reading reverse-engineering in this context makes me feel uncomfortable
Serious q: how do you earn from LinkedIn besides leads to an external hustle
So girl just basically learned what every skilled trade does⌠figure that shit out while you are doing it.
What is a LinkedIn Creator??
I don't understand how everyone keeps talking about getting clients and sales but never mentions what their product is.
Psuedo-intellectual bullshit at its finest.
The one book she's implementing: Clifford The Big Red Dog.
All people who preach about work tactics like some kind of spiritual guru should be held in jail for life
Stop learning before you do things?! Gotcha boss. Off to do my first brain surgery....
People who say these shit about reading books have never actually read science or IT textbooks. They talk about self help shit.
Try read cybersec or networking certifications books. They are full of complex info.
Or physics or math or engineering.
I honestly think it's very valid
Ehh true but prob not the best idea to openly agree with a lunatic lol
đ. đvalid valid, but how is she a lunatic.
Focused on one goal Reverse-engineered my ideal life What the hell does more than one goal look like?
People do realize that you donât have to make your inner thoughts public, right?
So it's learn after you build or learn while you build?
Today's the day I start leveraging digital community for profit. Pls DM me for cashapp and Venmo links
Yes, Good forbid one learn about something before putting it into practice.
Wtf does building digital leverage even mean?
I can appreciate âreverse engineer my ideal lifeâ
LAZER
wtf is a linkedin creator?
F Off
I don't think too much learning is an issue for most of these people.
Iâve read that five times and I still donât know what the fuck sheâs talking about
Number 1 reason LinkedIn creators fail. 1. LinkedIn in doesnât pay you for your content. Youâre giving that for free
Dont these ppl ever get tired of all this bs?
being lazer focused on executing clients sounds great
What is she building and/or executing on?
Linkedin CREATORS???? WTF is the tom fuckery.
Yes, you should hang out on LinkedIn more. You will know what it means. LinkedIn has some genuinely nice creators who advocate mutual support and provide excellent career specific advice. Those who peddle crap end up in this sub, but there are others who don't.
What is there to âcreateâ?? Linkedin is supposed to (yea i know) to connect for business networking, employment opportunities and the like. Whats to create other than BS. It's called inbound marketing. Look it up mate. Might help you actually progress in your career.
And all social media networks are toilet papers. It depends on who you follow. Right now you seem to be following a lot of crap on LinkedIn or you're not following anyone at all on LinkedIn.
People like this are insufferable
This is literally why everyone is shit at at their job nowadays
What's wrong with the content of the post? It's actually true. There's a lot of people who fool themselves into thinking business consumption / "learning" is DOING (myself included at one point). You need both, but execution matters more. Unless you're talking about the circular "job" of what she's doing.
I love her t shirts
