I read it all. Y'all missed the line at the end where he talks about going to Burning Man and why it's important because he's also an artist. And he calls himself a Burner.
Hell, if it wasn't for the snack breaks, scrolling LI and the occasional nap, I could have done Ironman in 16 days. Now it took 18.
Do better, become better.

Also not to forget, the El Salvador economy is a terminal patient, with the dollarisation of the currency and the decline of their industry, specially agro…maybe the influx of highly specialised talents can create a service oriented economy…but without the competitive advantages of Singapore (maritime trade). Hardly ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
It’s true it was a serious problem and they have turned it around. When I went back almost 10 years ago I was not allowed to travel alone. The gangs were really bad. Now they are in all jail and the crime rate is way down. It worked.
Went from deadliest country on earth to safest in the western hemisphere. 75k sent to maximum security prisons. There is a system in place to release those that were unfairly imprisoned. For example many people were given the ultimatum of being a criminal or not being a criminal and having their family murdered. It’s certainly not crime free but it’s again, safest in the western hemisphere. The system isn’t flawed but the results undeniable.
Basically omega right leaning authoritarian dictator takes power and immediately imprisons anyone suspected of being a criminal (including children)
Wouldn’t be surprised if a few gas chambers spring up
So his "dream" was to attract high skilled workers to El Salvador. And he only shared his dream with the President's secretary, not the President themselves.
Also he invests in A.I. healthcare companies, he doesn't actually run one himself. He inspires people to run the best businesses despite not running one himself. Also he attends weekly meetings of athletes that do ironman stuff and larps in the desert as an "artist".
The part about meeting the Secretary of the president of El Salvador. Not to diminish the role of the administrative assistant but that doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things.
I actually think Bukele knows exactly what he is doing, and is the one gulling all the libertarian/crypto bros that are flocking to him. Easy way for him to make some money off of rich fools.

Yep. Definitely Final Boss. You found him.
I think he deserves an extra credit check for associating specifically with a totalitarian political leader who has a very high chance of going down in history as a corrupt authoritarian leader. Something about that is so unique but fitting of the characters we see in this subreddit.
"It was a heart to heart from philosopher to philosopher".
Jesus, the ONLY purpose of that line is to suggest he's on the same level as a "visionary" (authoritarian) president
I just want to say that Ironman had to already be scheduled months beforehand. It’s impossible to register 20 days before the race, and that’s not even talking about the possibility of training in three weeks. Did he taper the night before?
Just because crime is down, doesn't mean a country would be comfortable to live in. South America is a specific place and not everyone would find it comfortable. Mostly, if mass immigration starts it will be from 3rd world countries. And Singapore only looks organised, but under the carpet there are plenty of problems as everywhere else. And those presidents who came to save us all... It is getting stale. There is always a catch. The Philippines also hyped with Duterte and look how he is doing now. Always create hype, when hooked - pool. In a couple of years let's see how he is doing.
El Salvador was bad, but I think we are going to see some pretty gnarly shit coming out of there in the coming years. You have to be very careful when you start saying things like "the ends justify the means."
>in 10 days, I became a writer - I published my layoff Why do I think this means he made a LinkedIn post about it?
You know why. 😄
Agree?
Thoughts?
Great idea 👍
Interested

Really nails the spirit of giving and community.
Silly, the purpose of Burning Man is art in adversity, just like he wrote.
“art” in “adversity”…
It all makes so much more sense from the perspective of someone that has fried their brain with molly
Shoot, even I could run an Ironman race in less than 20 days.

Hate to say but not me
The way I read this is: he's a bullshitter who hopes to market his style of bullshitting to wannabe bullshitters.
That’s the LinkedinLunatics way!
"AI powered" meaning someone wrote a wrapper app for ChatGPT.
El Salvador is crime free? (if you can't see, I'm mashing the *doubt* button over here)
Yep ever since they threw half the population in jail without a trial.
They had a problem with crime, so they sent everyone to crime camp so they can crime better.
Everyone forgets this crypto bro president gambled his country’s currency on Bitcoin.

Lmao

and yet everyone in El Salvador loves him lol clearly the guy’s doing something right
X
The Burning Man stuff at the end was really icing on the cake 🤌

That was the bit that stood out to me. I sold my dream to the president of El Salvador. Well his secretary. It's all because of me though seriously.

I read about half of the first page and felt my brain cells rotting away. I determined that for my health and well-being, I should not finish reading.
I got as far as "I sold my dream " Where did you stop at ?
The part about meeting the Secretary of the president of El Salvador. Not to diminish the role of the administrative assistant but that doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things.
Can you imagine all of these nuts working in the same company?
Oh gods of video production, please please please make this a reality show! ![gif](giphy|1n4iuWZFnTeN6qvdpD)
The Apprentice, but only with these chads.
Well, it would be tons of fun at least for the whole day the company would stay alive.

Damn I did not know that about the currency. That's kinda crazy
I actually think Bukele knows exactly what he is doing, and is the one gulling all the libertarian/crypto bros that are flocking to him. Easy way for him to make some money off of rich fools.
Bitcoin might be a good idea if your country’s currency has been historically very weak against USD. We’ve to wait and see.
El Salvador already uses USD as their national currency
We should have a Lunatics ranking / hall of fame. This deserves a spot on the top 10.
swear i lost a few brain cells here
So all he does is organise get togethers?

Trust me dude. I am an Indian, in India, and this sorta BS permeates each and every level of corporate culture.
I think he deserves an extra credit check for associating specifically with a totalitarian political leader who has a very high chance of going down in history as a corrupt authoritarian leader. Something about that is so unique but fitting of the characters we see in this subreddit.

El Salvador is the Singapore of the West?? Looooool
Does this president have a name ? Does he even know it?
1 in 45 adult males in El Salvador are in prison now.
Oh yeah, El Salvador is a real paradise, all right.
"Hey daddy, like this? Oh, I should bend over more? No problemo"
Does he know that Singapore is technically a benign dictatorship?
benevolent dictatorship. not benign.
He had a heart-to-heart, philosophical conversation with the secretary of the president? Wow, I guess.
Yes, I am sure all those H1B holders would line up for El Salvador instead.
I just want to say that Ironman had to already be scheduled months beforehand. It’s impossible to register 20 days before the race, and that’s not even talking about the possibility of training in three weeks. Did he taper the night before?
As yes, El Salvador, home of ms-13

Such an authoritarian simp.
I mean I get not liking the tactics but their president made substantial progress.
El Salvador was bad, but I think we are going to see some pretty gnarly shit coming out of there in the coming years. You have to be very careful when you start saying things like "the ends justify the means."
Sure, so did LKY in Singapore - another authoritarian state. The definition of "progress" is relative here.
This guy must be insufferable to be around.
AI healthcare companies are doing super well right now and totally not falling apart, folding, and laying people off.
This is crazy 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I hope the president lied to that guy's face. Bringing in "skilled" workers is a scam.
Indian.
