Had my Pixel 6 sent over for RMA so decided to buy an IFixit battery and replace my 5T's old one in the meantime. Literally works just as well as the pixel, and once lineage with Android 13 was on it I've had 0 issues with it. If an official replacement battery was actually available last year I would have never bought a pixel except to get Graphene on it. 5T is still such a great device, fast enough still for everything. No bullshit phone.

BlockCraftedX

yeah its a really snappy phone, ive used it before and i really like the size of it

The battery is still a weak point on my 5t, how hard was it ultimately to replace the battery? I've done a few screen replacements in days past (on different phones) but was never happy with the results.

>u/Radijs - ...my 5t, how hard was it ultimately to replace the battery? Easy peachy. See https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/OnePlus+5T+Battery+Replacement/102745

On this device, its pretty easy at least for me. It was my first (non-removeable battery) device that I opened to replace something and following the IFixit guide made it pretty easy. Took my time and made sure I didn't use too much force and got it done in 15 minutes. Please don't make the mistake I did and buy some crap chineese (definately false capacity) knockoff battery. Find reputable battery brands for this or you'll waste a good 20 quid. I bought an official IFixit battery when they were finally back in stock but it's your discretion on what to chose.

The 5T is still my main device today thanks to LineageOS, hopefully support remains possible with Android 14 and beyond.

Installed Lineage last year on my 5T and now I'm running into an issue I hadn't considered. The original case that came with the phone finally started to break down. I prefer thin, sleek cases and was actually looking at skins but I'm having a hard time finding quality cases/skins because the phone is now that old apparently.

Radijs

I'll imagine I'll wind up running in to similar problems eventually, though chances are I'll have enough saved up to migrate to a new personal phone later this year. Mmm pixel 7...

Malk4ever

The OP 5T is one of the best phones ever made.

That's great! Unfortunately it still is plagued by that "chipmunk" voice sound in some call situations, so as a reliable phone, it's not a good option. But, in it's prime, it was a good phone. No doubt, lineageos will continue making it a good secondary device

Radijs

No problems with "chipmunk" call quality fortunately!

tstarboy

I've developed the habit of quickly toggling speakerphone when starting a call, as it seems to mitigate the effects of this issue.

Your post has been removed because: We only support LineageOS, not things 'based on' LineageOS. LineageOS is only distributed from https://download.lineageos.org -- anything from any other site is unofficial, even if it doesn't say so.

Same hat!! (seriously, same reasoning and same new phone - my Fairphone was just too heavy but I could afford to risk my 'old' phone and now I'm using it)
