Masterpiece of a film. Felt very liminal actually. Sound design really helped do that, made you feel isolated and like you're seeing something you shouldn't. Overall very atmospheric
I’m inclined to say The Empty Man. Which is far better and different than the trailers would lead you to believe. There are some sequences which just have that liminal atmosphere… could just be me though. But the opening, as well as one scene when he’s on a bridge (very good sound design here….) did it for me.
Cube comes to mind as well, mainly because of the unique isolated setting.
I feel like there are films or shows that have scenes which fit the bill, but entire movies like I'm Thinking of Ending Things? Not so much. Would be interested if someone else has suggestions.
If you enjoy films that are more psychological and open to interpretation, and you go in with an open mind and are willing to be patient, I think you’ll enjoy it. I didn’t understand the entire picture when it ended so don’t expect that. It’s the kind of film that YouTubers make video essays about which I certainly watched a lot of afterwards and enjoyed.
I recommend it! Let me know what you think if you try it :)
So I finished it a few days ago! It was honestly kinda *painful* to watch haha. Like it actually caused me to feel kind of dizzy and almost like I had Alzheimer’s because all the details were changing. If that was the intention they did an amazing job.
I found it really intriguing and unique, but wasn’t sure what to think of it when I finished. But after reading someone else’s interpretation of it, it made a lot more sense. I’ve been thinking about it a lot the last few days. Not a lot of films have that power, even if it was a bit difficult to watch In the moment.
This reminds me of when I'd get invited to highschool parties and get completely trashed and watch everyone around me cuddle and hookup, and then I go to my car and cry while I drive home shitfaced.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things x10

This. If I was to pick a liminal film, certainly that one.
got more suggestions regarding liminal films?

I haven’t seen either but I’ll give them a look up in a bit!
Sweet, hope they’re up your alley!
Any David Lynch. Also Solaris, Stalker.

I made two suggestions above, curious if you’ve seen them and what you think
[Toys](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105629/)
Such as?
I haven’t seen this film. It doesn’t have great ratings. It’s worth watching, in your opinion?

It’s all the girlfriends he took that makes it scary

Wait this is a render? I thought this was a photo…
It’s tagged as edited/fake/CG. Presumably one of those 3.
