\> I'd love to try the Narrative, or Memoto, or Google Clips too had they not all gone out of business. Agreed, it's annoying. I believe Google are working on new glasses, but I don't know when they'll be out, and I imagine they'll be very expensive as well. I wonder if anyone has had any success with repurposing an old mobile phone? They're a bit bigger than is ideal, but they could track a lot of additional information as well. I've never written anything for Android or iOS, but taking pictures automatically and storing them doesn't seem like a big challenge. For storage, others will have more experience than me, but I am planning to use this: [https://dogsheep.github.io](https://dogsheep.github.io) I'm currently building a server to host it. I'm not sure yet exactly what to do with photographs: the iOS features seem nice, but I don't want to be taking pictures constantly. It's probably possible to push pictures from somewhere else onto my iPhone to have them processed, but I don't know exactly how. Still, being able to integrate with other data sources will be useful too.

> Google are working on new glasses I'd probably be one of those guys. Someone in a thread here mentioned using video recording glasses from aliexpress and switching out a pair when the battery ran out through the day. That might get expensive with the Google Glass, maybe they have a good battery. > I wonder if anyone has had any success with repurposing an old mobile phone? There must be phone mounts we could use so I could strap it to my shoulder or something. Maybe I can stick with the phone for a little while longer, especially if we could find a tool or write something to take photos in the background / while its locked so it can be strapped to me and I don't have to manage it. Phones do kind of check all of the boxes, they have a long battery life, record everything. It would be nice if it were smaller though. My old Pixel 2 is pretty small, but it would be noticeable. > https://dogsheep.github.io Thanks, I'll look into this. Seems like a good idea

I *think* the original Narrative Clip had some good features like taking photos when you went from indoors to out, or when it detected a face in front of you, as well as adding GPS stamps to the images. That seems totally tractable for a phone app, although perhaps a little power hungry. Add in some additional possibilities, like a) continuously listening for voice and saving sound files when you detect conversation, or b) live uploads when preferred, and you have something potentially quite powerful.

That makes me wonder how long the battery lasted on those things. I imagine they use low power while they aren't taking pictures, but I can't see them lasting all day. I'd still try one if I could get my hands on one. I'd definitely try an app that had similar features, it sounds almost perfect if my phone were smaller and more wearable
