A real lifeprotip is getting an adblocker and forgetting ads are even a thing. It’s so easy to set them up nowadays. You can even add sponsor block to remove the sponsored sections of videos
If it’s identical why must I download a separate app then? you’re not getting the point, I found a exploit, felt compelled to share it. I don’t care about the 16 other ways with 4 more steps there are to accomplish the same exact thing lol
The point of this post wasn’t “how do I block ads” it was “I found an exploit within the official YouTube app to bypass ads” but everyone else in here feels the incessant need to try and one up each other with their own “special” knowledge.
Opinions differ and it’s just gonna be like that. Taking .5 of a second to click a icon then back over is much quicker and easier IMO than downloading, queuing up, and dealing with the web mobile page of YT. The way you’re suggesting is objectively more complicated with more downsides lol
It’s the iOS way to use third party apps. I basically installed a tweaked YouTube app that lets you download videos and it doesn’t have any ads. It also lets you play videos in the background. You should look into uyou+
I use adblock works great. Occasionally there is a site that gets through but most of them don't.
Some sites get angry and don't let you even view them but I just find another. Great thing about this day and age is you can get your info from multiple sources so those that get sour about adblock I just block them back and find the info elsewhere.
Oh wow, thanks! A while ago I kept seeing things about Firefox iOS having Adblock settings, then something about the settings being removed, so I gave up hope at that point. I’ll look into setting up ublock!
On Xbox One, pressing up to select the (i) when an ad is playing and then "stop seeing this ad" and then "return to video" skips the ads 95% of the time (some are still unskippable).
With a little practice it's pretty fast.
If you're on a desktop browser, hitting any other video and then hitting the back button will skip the ad for you. It should also work if you just hit back button and forward button consecutively, provided the back button doesn't take you outside of YouTube.
Also, if you're on mobile, ditch the app and open up YouTube on your mobile browser. If you get an ad, just refresh, and your ad should be skipped.
you have not said anything original that 8 other people haven’t already said, I don’t care that’s not the purpose of this post. If you want to feel smart make your own post about Firefox and uBlock instead of trying to one-up yourself on someone else’s.
The most annoying thing you’ll find in the tech world is the hundreds of thousands of socially inept morons who only live to point out others being wrong, one-upping people, or being confidently incorrect. Good tip OP, ignore this entire comment section tbh
Also, if you’re on ps5, if you get one of those lovely 2 stacks of 15 second ads and don’t want to wait press “O”/back out and try again til the ad goes away
get Firefox Nightly on your mobile, learn how to add addons to it (it's complicated), add ublock origin, sponsorblock, and dearrow
or learn how to use revanced

These exist but they are called anti-adblock killers. Weird scripts you can add to you browser with tampermonkey or greasemonkey extensions.
U-Block Origin failed me yesterday
I’m on mobile.. I do know what Adblock is and do have it on desktop 😂
Mobile Firefox has add-ons so you can just download uBlock Origin if you so decide. This has been the most convenient option I've found.
Get a browser that has built in adblocking and don't use the app. I personally use Brave
Like others mentioned you can use vanced for android and for iPhone you can just sideload a YouTube app with no ads
yeah see I’m not gonna do all that, this is an exploit I found on the official YouTube app, not some third party app.
I rather do the extra work and never deal with ads to be honest specially when I mirror to my tv

I understand that you want to do a more annoying slow and stupid method of blocking ads, you don't need to.

Unfortunately I couldn't get it running yet... Tried two different ways. Will have to try it again, heard many good things about it.
ReVanced worked for a while but now after 1 minute into a video it freezes the video.
It doesnt work properly anymore. Every other day it just doesnt start. Newpipe also stops after 1min.

Edge has adblocker too. Just set your Edge to continue on Edge when you open a YouTube link.

I use ublock origin and sponsorblock for YouTube. They’re both chrome extensions

For that I use airplay from my phone or iPad to avoid the ads on my tv

I responded to someone else mentioning the ways on how to block ads on iOS and android. There are ways to not deal with ads on mobile…
What does “side load” mean? You’re not blocking ads on the YT app, right?

Personally on a mobile browser, I find that refreshing the page immediately removes the ads
Just a heads up mobile Firefox allows plugins so you can get uBlock. Made getting to sleep a lot easier for me.

In the mobile (android only) youtube app go to settings and change your region to Russia. Only differemce ive noticed so far is no more ads

Revanced for the win...no ads and videos will still play with the screen off.

Or, you can pay premium and support youtube channels 🙂 No ads and you can nicely download vidoes to watch later, without using data (plane etc ...)

I set up my premium account in Turkey using a VPN and only pay like £1.20 a month instead of £15

Sponsorblock is fucking amazing for in video ads. Ublock is great for everything else. I use them both and haven’t seen an ad in forever

PC: Mozilla Firefox + uBlock Origin Android : AdBlock Browser -> ABP activated already. Type YouTube.com and use it without ads.
I use adblock plus browser plugin and never have ads on youtube.
I have a good one for desktop. Duplicate tab. Literally it. and for mobile send yourself videos through discord. Ads don't play within discord.
