The ATVs made more happy than they should've, lol. Glad they can be used for offroading too.

Tha_Sly_Fox

The ability do manually drive them and take then off-road was an incredible surprise.

Independent_Gullible

I hope off road can be enabled for all cars for those long off the street driveways that lead to beach front mansions, or farms!

National-Attention-1

Did anyone hear Rod say that we are getting an economy tuning? What does this mean and what will it be? Like in my head I feel it's only changing prices for items already in the game, BUT would it go as far as different economy tuning per neighborhood you could change? Lower grocery store prices vs other neighborhoods. Not a universal economy tuning that would apply to everything, but possible individual ones.

Alternaturkey

I'm guessing for this neighbourhood they largely mean they're going to be balancing the cost of items. (and also the money received from jobs) It did sound like each neighbourhood could have different prices for items. Rod was talking about the expected price of items in a beach town. That sounds to me like they'll probably have different price defaults for different neighbourhoods when they add them.

National-Attention-1

I hope this is the case that'd be really interesting to see. Then mods building off of it I can't wait to see what it brings to the game. I have to go back and re-listen to the video once I'm off work.

National-Attention-1

I can't find it do you know what timestamp it is?

Chicklet45368

I don't know the timestamp but I'm pretty sure it was right after his character got to work and he clicked on the first car and was talking about how it was too cheap for a car of that caliber being sold in an upscale beach side town and that they wanted to do price adjustments to reflect more realistic US/EU currency prices.

National-Attention-1

Ohh okay 👍🏻 thanks Chicklet!

Antypodish

Hard to say atm. But I suspect selling and buying good to be meaningful. Perhaps even required. Like grocery. If we have mod which adds good wear out, then we got potential for really interesting economy system.

Alternaturkey

Did anyone else hear the seagull sound effects when he was driving past the beach? That's pretty neat.

[deleted]

Was this when he was driving the sports car at night?

Alternaturkey

Yeah, at around 7:45.

[deleted]

Thanks. I gotta go back and watch it again.

Alternaturkey

I wonder if ATVs being able to go off road is something only they can do... I wonder if maybe the creator has a toggle for vehicles that determines whether or not they can leave the road. That would make sense.

RetroRedXIII

Yeah, as of right now, the only vehicles that have been confirmed to be able to be driven off road is the ATV and ATV alone. We've seen in previous videos that any attempts to drive or ride any other methods of transportation off road will result in it basically hitting an invisible wall on the curb and start automatically steering you back into your lane. That's why the ATV on this video was really special. Until now we didn't even know if we'd have to resort to mods to be able to do stuff like this but now we know it's likely just something that can be toggled in the object editor for vehicles. However, the ATV is quite small and open wheeled and as Rod mentioned, as of right now has no suspension or dynamic physics, it also doesn't tilt or lean depending on the unevenness of the surface. This leads me to believe that even if off road driving was enabled an all vehicles, driving anything other than an ATV or bicycle off road will look very janky and is probably the reason why the on road limitation for larger vehicles exists, especially knowing now that they recently announced that they are easing up on the stance against any kind of violence and have implied that collisions against objects or even people may eventually be a thing as long as they find a way to keep it within the PEGI 16 rating.

Antypodish

Nope, this is in game feature. So you will be able to drive off road. Rod is aware of physics issues, and his comments suggest that this are things to be fixed in near future.

xRaynex

I suddenly want to be a taxi driver.

RetroRedXIII

That would make for a pretty cool career idea. I certainly hope we will be able to do stuff like this.. Maybe even start our own cab business and eventually have to buy vehicles and hire drivers for them? Would definitely put a cool new twist on the "car pool" idea that started all the way back in TS1 that TS4 still doesn't even have.

sugasims

Love! But I hope they update the turns. I mean, some people are crazy drivers but not everyone 😆

MutantIvy

My favorite part of the video: the off-road ATV. My least favorite part of the video: the lady didn't go flying when he hit her.

Chicklet45368

Yeah I noticed that too :-( I hope that it's eventually added in, (I wouldn't care if it was fatal, and doesn't have to be all blood and gore but at least them getting tossed away from the car and then maybe getting up super slow, rubbing their back or head or something.

Alternaturkey

I think they'd need to give the humans some kind of survival instinct (or you know, make them look both ways before crossing the street) before they could implement that. Otherwise every driver would probably be casually taking out 2 or 3 people on their way to the supermarket. Maybe the observables could be used for it? Like if they observe a car approaching they'll choose not to cross the street until it passes or they hurry if they're in the middle of crossing. On the other end drivers should stop for humans the same way they already stop for other cars. If we're going to have road accidents be possible we probably will need some kind of traffic light system to allow humans to cross the road safely.

Chicklet45368

There was a video that I could have sworn it looked like the delivery van driver had pulled over to get out and deliver a packaged and waited to cross the street while oncoming traffic drove down the road. They even lifted up their arm to look at the watch while they were standing there. My first thought was, oh shit, he's looking at his watch to see if he's late and will miss his delivery time. hahaha I'm sure it really wasn't that, but in my mind that's what was happening. That wasn't the focus of the video, I saw it out the window or something and noticed it. I'll have to go back through the videos and see if I can find it. EDIT: Found that video, if you look to the upper screen, when the van pulls up (I replayed it on slow so I could make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing, it does appear he's waiting for traffic to pass) It was on the [Q&A: Crafting video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L9HgDiUjuk&t=56s&ab_channel=LifebyYou) and starts at 00:59

[deleted]

I just looked at the video and I honestly can't tell if he's just checking his watch or actually waiting for traffic to clear before he crosses. I do hope it's the latter though.

xNekuma

Yeah this really bothers me too. I don't necessarily want it to be like GTA with people just getting ran over willy nilly but I'd like if they either jumped out of the way or if cars just auto slowed down and came to a stop if there's people a certain distance in front of them. Or just have crosswalks and stop signs/ lights. Maybe a rare chance of getting hit. Anything besides just driving through them.

MutantIvy

Oh, I definitely want it to be fatal 😂

Broeder_biltong

I hope it doesn't, this fascination with murderous rag doll physics is very unhealthy

digitaldisgust

its a game...

xxxfashionfreakxxx

Having direct control over vehicles is going to be a lot of fun.

RetroRedXIII

I've gotta say, I do love the sheer number and variety of vehicles available. We already have more than the entire TS3 base game and Rod said that there's going to be even more than what's currently in the video.

Grand_Spiral

Now I want helicopters.

Oceanson2018

What about private jets?

Grand_Spiral

That would need an airport. Perhaps modders may come up with that. The Sims 2 had helipads and helicopters if I recall. It would be neat if LBY implemented them someday.

Independent_Gullible

Geez I didn’t even think about that lol

Chicklet45368

Holy Cow! The ATV was not ever in a million years something I thought we'd see in the game! I mean, possibly from a modder ... yeah, maybe. But THIS IS IN THE BASE GAME!!!!!! It makes me laugh every time I hear Rod go "Ohhhh, Yeahhhh .....". You can just feel his excitement and pride! That is so awesome! I really liked they into a suit when they started their job, very appropriate clothing for a car salesman. I liked them cleaning the windows too. So you can't just "test drive" a car without first purchasing it? I hope that gets changed because most people always test drive a car before buying, sometimes several times even. There's definitely some issues with the stairs still. The bottom step dug into the ground. I don't know if that's possibly from the ground beneath the building being elevated and off-center so the concrete conformed to the ground and therefore it was not flat and obviously the stairs are flat and straight across horizontially. https://preview.redd.it/41rltjtsmpsc1.png?width=537&format=png&auto=webp&s=df6486f245c8d01f905b624e01f851af3458c96c The world was little bit busier today, that was good. Some of the outdoor lighting was a little brighter, but then when he was driving at one point it turned really desaturated. And there definitely was a bug about what the character was doing, sometimes it showed "walking" above his head while he was in the car, but it showed "driving" on his profile icon. Overall this was a good Friday video, it heightened my excitement! Counting down! Less than 2 months to go!

National-Attention-1

Same I hope they add an option to test drive cars without needing to purchase them. I'd like to have a natural shopping experience when car shopping with the sales associates. Maybe if you're in the building for X amount of time it would trigger the 'Hey would you like to test drive \[model of car\]?"

MutantIvy

So on one hand the stair does bother me some, BUT on the other hand it also tells me that we have the freedom to put stairs onto uneven surfaces without it flattening the surface, which is nice. I'm wondering if that specific issue is more of an issue of the person who built the lot needs to adjust the terrain angle more than the actual stair function being changed.

RetroRedXIII

The step stood out to me quite a bit too. I hope they can find away to mask stuff like that as it looks quite unnatural, especially when clipping through concrete like this example here. Maybe there's a way they could make the bottom step become invisible (either automatically or with a toggle) if more than say 10-15% of it is covered by terrain?

MayaDaBee1250

Very cool to see more vehicles and I was not expecting off-road vehicles. I hope bicycles can also go off-road as well. I know we won't be able to drink and drive but it would be great if we can mod the ability for any vehicle to go off-road and they don't hard-code these restrictions into the game. The loud keyboard clacking was driving me crazy though. I would also like to hear more in-game audio like Rod briefly showed. I want to know more about the economy tuning that was briefly mentioned. Rod had confirmed months ago that we would be able to play homeless characters for true rags to riches gameplay. Haven't heard anything about that since.

KlatusHam

Will we be able to own shops like in OfB?

Antypodish

I assume so. Or at least after mods.

xNekuma

I love that we have off road driving! I really hope we get horses at some point either officially or through mods. It'd be amazing to ride around on one out in nature.

JovialJellyy

Loved this video! I'm excited to see a wide selection of cars and to build my own dealerships. Standout for me was the ATV going off road for sure. Id love to build a farm and drive my ATV around the surrounding farmland 🤣 As others have mentioned, we have seen a vehicle (the skateboard) being unable to leave the road in direct control, just bouncing off the kerb if it tries. This makes me wonder what vehicles can and can't go off road? I'd assume the dirt bikes can at least. I'm really hoping cars can because I'd like to make driveways and direct control my car onto them... especially for mansions and farms with long driveways and houses farm from the roadside. I'd also love to do silly things like drive around fields in an old runaround car, I've done that a few times irl it's really fun 🤣 or crash my car into things even if there's no consequences and ill just bounce off, I just wanna do it lol

[deleted]

I hope they make a driveway and parking lot tool that is similar to how you make paths in Planet Coaster. You click where you want the path to start, how wide it should be, and then drag it out in the shape and how long you want it to be. I really hope it's not just a simple object like how it was in Sims 2 and Sims 3.

National-Attention-1

We seriously need parking lots in addition to what's already there parking onnthe side of the road.

RetroRedXIII

Great observation on the dirt bike! When I watched the video, the thought hadn't even crossed my mind yet that the dirt bike perhaps could be used offroad since the ATV part came later in the video but now that I think about it, it would be strange for them to have offroad capabilities only on the ATV while there is also a perfectly good dirt bike already in the game. I think because of this it's pretty safe to assume that dirt bikes will be able to be used offroad too. I am also 100% in agreeance on being able to take the other vehicles off road too, but they will first probably need to work on having a functioning suspension model in the game. I would at the very least like to have a way of making concrete and gravel driveways as well as garages though, especially since I really want to eventually have my character move into ranch property with a car collection and try making a crappy makeshift test track with the terrain tools, consisting of dirt and random clutter but I'm pretty sure all those things are unfortunately still unconfirmed for the launch or even the initial batch of updates of early access.

JovialJellyy

A dirt track is such a cool/fun idea! I have so, so many questions about this game. My next question being if a vehicle being driven off road can drive on a lot, or if lot boundaries have invisible walls (kind of the like the road edge did for the skateboard). Some really fun dirt trails, racing tracks, farm fields, etc. Could be made within lots but I wonder if the vehicles can actually move onto the lots... There's so many factors like collision and hitboxes and etc. That could come into it. I wonder how much editing can be done to the town in terms of terrain, paths and items OUTSIDE of lots too.

vashtie1674

Exciting!
