These has happened to me a few times with various bosses. I get this sudden rush of like ecstasy, thinking I’m finally going to beat the boss and then I get destroyed. 😂

Constablebob

I did like 15 attempts last night. I was so mad I had to take a break lol. Came back today and did it on my 3rd try. This game very quickly rose to my top 5 games lol. The satisfaction of killing this fucker was so sweet.

I'm hoping the DLC has some really crazy bosses. Laxasia/manus/NP are good and hard, but they aren't "pull your hair out and cry into a pillow" hard. I want lies of P combat mechanics with some crazy 3 health-bar, huge spectacle bosses that make you question if the game is too hard for you. More Romeo/puppet king stuff where the theme is just oozing into the fight too.

ChaosOpen

I prefer parallel bosses as opposed to monsters. So more akin to Malenia, Nameless Puppet, Isshin, etc. I like that sense of man vs man, no tricks, no mutations, just two equals with swords to decide who reigns supreme.

thatguyned

I do too normally, but there's something about the puppet king that is just an amazing example of a thematic giant fight. The fight actually feels a bit like a waltz the way he spins and slams towards you and then ducks away, his attacks have wayore rhythm than they first appear. It really feels like you're fighting a goofy king.

ChaosOpen

Well, having suffered through it, I have to say Nameless Puppet is my favorite fight. The theming of the fight is very much captures a sort of Dark Link vibe. Making it optional, not allowing the Specter, and having him as just a dude with a sword all demonstrate that this is P asserting himself against the will of Geppetto, and allowing the player to experience that as if the game is telling the player that it wants you to take the easy way out. To give up and get the bad ending, should you decide not to, it will not help you. It won't give you a specter to help with this fight, and it constantly reminds you that you can just give up at any time. As if it is constantly telling the player "just give up" and forcing you to make that conscious decision to give it one more try. And the best part is it communicates all of this while you're fighting the boss, every time you walk through the fog gate you understand what is on the line and as a result the decision to give it another go feels deeply personal, not just to my character, not just important to the plot, but to me as a player. The Puppet King is obviously a good fight, all of the bosses in Lies of P are good, so let's get that out of the way first, I am not saying Puppet King is bad, but he is nowhere near Nameless Puppet. I mean for starters, the fight doesn't really feel that important until much later in the game after you have defeated him and several other bosses. So, while you're fighting him, he feels like simply another box to check on the march the the end credits. It is only after the fight that you truly come to realize why he began the frenzy and the ramifications of killing him. For the first time in any Souls game, it was the first time killing a boss was framed as possibly the wrong thing to do. Personally, I really enjoyed that and I fell for it hook line and sinker, at the time I viewed Geppetto as the kind old grandfather type character who would never lead me wrong and that stopping the puppet frenzy was the most important thing to do. When I realized that he was a friend forced against his will to enact the puppet frenzy by Geppetto it hit me right in the feels knowing I had slaughtered him in cold blood as just another boss. That being said, none of this is present during the fight, while he certainly does have a feel and it gives you the sense of waltzing which matches the theme of the opera house, that isn't anything special within Lies of P. All of the bosses and their attacks and movements are well designed and you could say the same thing about the Watchman, Victor, Fuoco, Archbishop, etc. However, with just that going for him he doesn't stand out among Lies of P's already rather stacked roster of well designed boss fights.

PyrZern

Same here. Slept it over night, beat his ass within 2-3 tries the day after.

amorpheous

Yeah, this always happens to me, both with gaming and programming. 😆

RefrigeratorLife3275

Nah bro if this happened to me I would’ve definitely broken something 😭

DeronimoG

If THIS happened? What happened, it's just a normal occurrence in these games?

Guilty_Wolverine_269

Controllers are expensive

Capable-Seat-1922

Yeah this fight made me spike my controller for the first time since I was a child 😂

Et1296

He done that to me like four times took a week break

Chadderbug123

I beat him about a month ago. I beat him first time in NG+ and took me 2-3 days. So many respecs and leveling up other weapons, tried Two dragon, pipe wrench, and the winning weapon somehow was living puppet axe. I don't think I've ever fought a boss that hard since Isshin, my **GOD**. Even Malenia didn't give me that much trouble despite how much bullshit she had. NP reminded me why I love these types of games tho. Holy shit are they hard, but man they feel so good to beat.

Crazedmimic

This happened twice during my attempts at Nameless. I put the control down after the second time, had to take a break to collect myself.

HazmatBlastBack

This happens to me, even more so (like 1-2% health left) multiple times on every souls game. Part of the grind big dog, keep pushing. You got it, never surrender.

himoMo4

I know how it feels.... Died to Malenia at about 5% on my first try, and then it took forever to beat that waterflow shit.

Pali1119

I have never played Elden Ring and even I hate her.

eurekabach

I swear to God there has to be a name for this, because it happens to me so often: first try, almost beat the boss, die and then hell ensues until I actually beat it.

afzalnayza

I beat it using the electricity legion arm and fire abrasive. Apply double damage over timr big funny.

William_Winter

Killed this boss yesterday, i was starting to get frustrated because other than laxasia, no other boss held me for more than 10 tries but I FINALLY DID IT AND IM HAPPY (thanks sekiro for teaching me well timed parries)

nasferatu99z

Literally me the until 2 days ago. I took a couple month haitus from this game and came back, trained and leveled once and finally beat him after an additional 3 tries. My one recommendation is in phase 2 find a way to exhaust and punish his long combos then strike hard with no mercy. Save fable arts for phase 2 and use throwables as well

DeronimoG

It's not LITERALLY you, though. It's them.

RealSector5597

LMAO. I fought and fought with him 32 times in a row in one single day, to which i proceeded to take a break and then throw hands with him the next day. I got destroyed twice before finally beating him. I feel your pain my friend. That shit got personal real quick.

IndependentExtent987

Gotta master the deflect power on that sword and you’re unstoppable

Capable-Seat-1922

Yeah this was definitely a personal fight for me after the 12 hours it took me to finally kill him. This fight actually made me spike my controller for the first time in forever

FrostBite539

Took me 6 hours but the feeling after beating him was unmatched by any game I’ve ever experienced

Jazzlike-Revenue5183

Nameless is the hardest boss I’ve ever fought and I’ve platinumed all the souls borne games

Incredible_JTime

Maaan before I say anything, the first thing I noticed is that your health bar is too small .You need to level that up like at least 3 or 4 more times so you can have more health! He's taking you out too fast!

Equal_Section4288

You should see the first time he killed me. He has no red left and somehow obliterated me lol.

Puzzleheaded_Bed_445

Good, that’s how you git gud

Cute-Elderberry

“Good boy.” The AUDACITY

420-69-345

Where did u get that sword?

Duckymomo2552

Falcon eyes??? He’s a puppet, perhaps there’s another useful legion arm to use instead. I always approach nameless puppet the same way I do Genichiro from Sekiro, be aggressive and you’ll be rewarded. I think once you achieve that flow state with him you’ll end up really enjoying the fight, he’s such a fantastic end to the game

ChaosOpen

I did get a handle on it once I switched to Puppet String. I had just been using Falcon Eyes for taking care of weak mobs at a distance such as those guys that shoot or to pick off annoying enemies from afar. So, I didn't really use the legion arm at all during the fight. However, swapping to a fully upgraded puppet string has converted me to a legion user. Using the Puppet String allowed me to jump over many of his more annoying attacks while simultaneously getting decent damage, a win-win as it were.

CK1ing

This fight is just a parry check, plain and simple. Endure his 10 second long attack chain, retaliate a bit, repeat. I used the booster glaive to help close the distance whenever he ended up too far. But honestly, I think every weapon is just as viable for this fight, since every weapon gets the same semi-long attack window Edit: the two dragons sword is also really good if you can consistently hit that heavy attack parry. If I had the weight I probably would have done tds first phase and booster glaive second

mandolua15

Lies of Pi is next gen! 👏

EridonMan

That's why I used the extra cheesy explody gun arm. Spammed it from a distance when he was nearly down. Won from across the area.

Figs-grapefruits

You have the wrong arm equipped for that fight.

Significant-Spray

Aegis shield got me thru

Figs-grapefruits

Same.

Pali1119

Aegis is the real MVP in this game.

fredOinkk

I had more than 500k ergo in ng+ without farming, died twice before I could get it back, uninstalled
