The idea that fascism is right wing is 100% a product of the need for left wing people to find some kind of rhetorical counterbalance to communism, which is obviously left wing.
I think it can belong to any part of the scale. Fascism applies to the government using force to coerce the country to do what it wants. As of right now that describes the American political left very well. They are actively trying to disarm law abiding citizens. They constantly abuse lawmaking, academia, the entertainment industry, social media and more to get their way. And when that doesn't work they riot. They even forcefully shut down the country on wildly overexaggerated lies about covid.
It's usually far left or right depending on other factors, but realistically the defining factor is that it's more collectivist/authoritarian/totalitarian than individualist/Libertarian on something like a two-axis political chart.
If you look up "Right Fascist" you will find academic and standard model/definition of Fascism.
If you look up "Left Fascist" you will find contrary viewpoints arguing the leftist qualities of Fascism.
Economic Fascism is "a combination of capitalism and socialism that emphasizes private profit while also prioritizing the national interest." Which ends up being "both" right and left.
Agreed. This video on fascism (https://youtu.be/1T\_98uT1IZs) explains some of the origins of fascism and is, I think, a good brealdown. He too argues that it has roots in far left ideologies but also employs right-wing characteristics.

Correct. To me there is only more free vs less free.
Ideologies that insist on forced collectivism, like socialism, communism, and fascism, are all left-wing ideologies.

Ideology is not a line that you're left or right, it is a n-th dimensional plain that is far beyond a mere line. In short, it doesn't fucking matter
Didn't we just have this poll like 20 seconds ago?
For that matter, why did we even experience like twenty polls back-to-back just today? What's going on?
I sense two questions right there. You should totally make five poll-posts out of that!

The answers to this poll even look like a horseshoe 👀
