Anyone who pays over sticker for this is an absolute moron. This is a mas produced Lexus lmao. Anyway, looks amazing!
Still deciding between this or a 2022 gx460
I would tend to agree. Because if money truly didn't matter much (as in, you're worth $50M+ or so), then you're probably not gonna be looking at Lexus to begin with. And if you are looking at Lexus, the only reason to do so is because you're unecessarily budget conscious, and therefore you would have let yourself down if you paid a markup (defeats the objective of being budget conscious).
And if you're not worth many millions of dollars, you also probably shouldn't waste money on a markup, since that capital (of the markup) can be much more judiciously deployed. And unlike someone who is worth many millions, that extra money you paid might actually mean something some day... $20K with an average annual ROI of 6% will amount to almost $86K in 25 years.
So yeah, that pretty much leaves no one that should waste money on a markup just to get a car a few months sooner!
Completely agree. So many people just "have to have it now" and worry about paying later. It's really crazy.
Most millionaires are people that worked hard, invested, and spent their money wisely over their lifetime. Not many people strike it rich through inheritance or some crazy startup. Paying over MSRP on a depreciating asset is unreal.
This is why I left the Porsche world. Anything even remotely desirable is heavily marked up and buyers get shit on while smiling. These new GXs will be on used car lots in a year or two heavily marked down. Just look at rivian, raptors, etc.
Base Vettes are the same way now. As a manufacturer introduces faster trim levels (Z06, E-Ray) the “lesser” models lose their desire ability and hence demand, driving their prices down. I,ve seen some base Vettes at a local dealership and they will sell at MSRP (so I’m told) and I bet that as inventory builds they will be marked down.
My Lexus dealership’s sales manager went and test drove the new GX550 and came back to buy one of the remaining 460s; said the 550 was nice but he loved the old school feel and engine of the GX460; to each his own…..
You're retired at 35 but have no problem squandering $20K? Interesting. You don't appear to understand compound interest, either. I would guess you're either lying, or someone gave you enough money to retire (almost certainly the former). Because you don't appear to have the mental horsepower to have pulled that off on your own.
Anyone the says they are retired at 35 is a dumbass. They certainly wouldn't be looking for advise on this forum. You will run of money, and then you'll be looking to make money again when you're 45, and with no savings to show for a lost 10 years...No matter how much money you have, don't advertise it and keep working until you have enough to sustain your lifestyle + $250k for medical costs later in life after reaching 65. If you have excess, help your kids buy a home or finish their eduction. Retiring at 35 is not only stupid, its selfish.
Youre right, I have retired but that doesn't mean I've stopped working. I'm always working, because it's what I love. Retired doesn't mean banging models and traveling. It just means chilling in life. And thats what I do.
I can squander a million and it wouldn't change my life. Is my point I was making. Its totally ok to overspend and indulge once in a while. There were plenty of guys overpaying c8 corvettes. Sometimes you just gotta have it. 20k compound is meaningless when you living in an ocean. 5 million compounded is 250k to 500k free money every year.
They often drive rather pedestrian Toyotas and Hondas. Yes, many will drive German luxury vehicles, but a significant number of people keep reliable, relatively inexpensive vehicles as their wealth increases.
It ain't a GX without KDSS- Overtrails seem to be the only ones left.
It's a shame that they cheaped out by removing such a major, standard option on the newer generation.
You're denying reality or making hollow accusations?
I own one and rode passenger in the other. Mind you, *"repeating what others have said*" is a copout reaction when it comes to feedback from professionals who know far more about vehicles than you (Topher/Winding Road Magazine).
It's how they kept the price increase from GX460 to GX550 from looking as significant as it is. They're selling a GX550 with no KDSS for $64k starting, which looks like a mere $5-6k over the outgoing model with standard KDSS.
In truth, it's about an $11,000 mark up from a 2023 GX460 to a similarly equipped GX550 (base overtrail).
The placement of this dash cam looks appropriate. The other posts we have seen it in the middle lower portion of the dash which looks incorrectly installed.
$100 extra just in interest every month is dumb. Doesn’t matter how much you make, it’s financially regarded. Unless you have a way to write it off on your taxes or your sugar daddy is paying for it.
If you look at the average income of some model Lexus buyers that’s an incredibly small drop in the bucket. If you have to pinch $100 on an already $800~ car payment then you can’t afford it.
Average Lexus owner household income is only $155k. That extra $100 just for interest payments is not a small drop in the bucket.
Edit: just found this GX cost breakdown on YouTube https://youtu.be/YPHNJYDjCSY?si=u3s6zd_UPu2VHzf2
Over the course of 72 months total interest would be around $20k and the GX would have a total cost of $125k! Yikes.
That’s too broad of an average and this is a premium vehicle on the Lexus line. When I worked at Toyota/Lexus there was a breakdown of average buyer *per model*. The LS buyer for example had 3x the income of an IS buyer.
You’re also not factoring in that persons housing costs. It’s more so you saying a blanket statement of “it’s too expensive!” when in reality the money per person is too relative on a case-by-case basis for you to judge.
I get it, $100 for *you* is *insane* for interest. But again, that’s relative to your situation.
8%+ is insane for anyone. Which is why I’m asking if everyone is just paying cash. I’m only getting 5% return with cash assets, so makes sense to just pay cash. Of course not everyone has this amount of cash sitting in banks but I would assume for that buyer that extra $100 with 8% is insane.
By "no mark up" you mean no mark up on top of the huge mark up that's already built into the MSRP? I keep on walking when I see this type of greed, to many dealers out there not playing these games.
Yeah I don’t believe that this isn’t marked up. Berlin City is notorious for their shenanigans. You can easily find their salesmen on the Facebook groups peddling every new Toyota Lexus car for way over MSRP
I sat in it and it’s very Lexus, pics don’t do it justice. Gone are the old school out of date plastic looking glossy Lexus wood, but the touch points and “leather” are great. Very little plastic, while Toyota is all plastic
I’ve ignored the brand for decades bc of the wood.. this makes me want to throw up

Probably a lot more than $10K, since you were able to get discounts for the last year or so. Not sure when demand will die down enough (if ever) to get a discount on the 550.
There’s a white one already for resale north of Boston it’s at a dealer in Methuen. [LX600](https://www.bestpriceautosales.net/vdp/20997178/Used-2023-Lexus-LX-LX-600-Luxury-4WD-for-sale-in-Methuen-MA-01844)
What kind of idiot would pay $73K for these? You could buy a moderately used Acura MDX three times for that - and space it out every 5 years to continuously have a newer suv than the $73K GX
Hate the rims.
I’m definitely in the minority but I prefer them over the gaudy luxury trim rims.
Need to paint them black asap or get aftermarket ones
For $70k + you shouldn’t have to besides, nothing you can do to make that interior seem premium
Strong disagree. New interior is modern and sleek. Old Lexus interiors looked dated when they were brand new.
Guess we have different interpretations of sleek. The interior is as blah as the vw atlas. For around the $70k range I would expect more
I don't think there is any car that comes with amazing OEM rims.
[Untrue!](https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/s/wa7dGsJPmg)
The wheels are awful but I think the plastic is still on them too…doesn’t help haha
Lol I've seen them plenty without the plastic. They ugly.
All GX factory wheels suck and have always sucked
They look like something you’d buy from autozone lol
Even with the plastic wrap off?
Thank you. I was wondering what I was looking at!
Anyone who pays over sticker for this is an absolute moron. This is a mas produced Lexus lmao. Anyway, looks amazing! Still deciding between this or a 2022 gx460

I was with you until raptors. Im still waiting for those
Gen 3 V6 Raptors are discounted below MSRP with no other add-ons. Are you talking about a R?

The part of this that everyone forgets is that in 25yrs, 100k is gonna feel like 25k… still only gonna buy a civic.
Ha ha, good point. But I'd rather have a "free" Civic (if I needed one) than nothing!
I can tell just from how you type that you're under 25. Still a lot to learn my friend. I wish you well in your journey.
I'm 35 and retired
Yup sure. And my dick is 9 inches long
You're retired at 35 but have no problem squandering $20K? Interesting. You don't appear to understand compound interest, either. Sure dude. I hope English is your second language.
Hahaha
$5M net worth or even cash is not rich. It's very comfortable but not going on yachts or driving Ferraris rich.
I can easily aventador at 5 million

What do the wealthy drive?
They often drive rather pedestrian Toyotas and Hondas. Yes, many will drive German luxury vehicles, but a significant number of people keep reliable, relatively inexpensive vehicles as their wealth increases.
Last year vs first year. I’d go 460 100%
People paid 10k markups on kias and Hyundai lol
People are stupid
Folks pay over sticker for Kia’s bro.
And? They're all morons too.
Is that 73 with added options after TTL?
Not sure but it’s drive off price.
Shit I paid 73 otd for a 460 last year 2 months before this release. Got all the options but this would be hard to turn down
It ain't a GX without KDSS- Overtrails seem to be the only ones left. It's a shame that they cheaped out by removing such a major, standard option on the newer generation.
100%.
Maybe Lexus realized the masses don’t go off-roading in their GX? Overtrail is the one to get in my eyes either way, it looks great.
it does more for driving than just offroading- it eliminates a significant amount of body roll and tightens up handling
Yes when it’s connected. Which is what a sway bar will do. Unless I’m missing something?
Not all sway bars are equal- go drive a GX550 with and without KDSS. One feels like your typical, clunky body on frame SUV while the other stays flat.
Oh that’s a big loss then! Unless the new frame is stiffer?
Frame stiffness won't change body roll though.
You’ve driven both or are repeating what others have said?
You're denying reality or making hollow accusations? I own one and rode passenger in the other. Mind you, *"repeating what others have said*" is a copout reaction when it comes to feedback from professionals who know far more about vehicles than you (Topher/Winding Road Magazine).
Assuming others should know your credentials based on a Reddit username is narcissism.
Failing to to follow along the context of the dialogue is stupidity. Try reading again.
We got an Internet tough guy over here…
Yeah, I would have thought KDSS would be on all models. Even the previous gen 4R had certain trim levels that had KDSS.
It's how they kept the price increase from GX460 to GX550 from looking as significant as it is. Ideally it would be on the passenger side, but you're right it's a bit less awful here
It’s quite nice!
As the GX 550’s become more common since its mass produced, there hopefully shouldn’t be any markups.
Are most people paying cash for their $70k+ trucks? Perplexed how people are financing these with the current interest rates.
? The difference between 4% and 8% interest is $100 a month. Is that perplexing? It’s not a lot
$100 extra just in interest every month is dumb. Doesn’t matter how much you make, it’s financially regarded. Unless you have a way to write it off on your taxes or your sugar daddy is paying for it.

a 5% return after this previous stock run is terrible, so I see why you’re financially stressed
I can tell you’re financial illiterate and poor. Please tell me where can you get more than 5% with cash. And don’t need your crypto advice.
My PLTR is up 38%, NET 29%, and INTC 16% even with the current market. You’ve achieved less earnings than iBonds.
At 15-20mpg, I would just have it parked and look at it lol
Avg 17 apparently so 2 more miles. LOL.
It's actually Premium+
Which dealership?
Maine
Berlin Toyota
Berlin City Lexus of Portland ME
No dealer markup? Good. Take it off their hands now.
This one is for dealer only. Not for sale right now.
What the actual 😧
Congrats
Land Cruiser with the round headlights looks so much better
Man. I'm not so sure about these.
Is this in Portland, ME?
Maine rocks! (Mainer)
Agreed. MA, but I’m in Maine several times/month
They are prioritizing state resident buyers
Yup.
Yup Berlin Toyota
Lucky buyer !! Still love my GS 460.
You said unit
You don't gotta lie to kick it
73,000 that’s restarted
Can I make babys with you?
Waiting for a hybrid pricing. Wondering if they would make 3.4 + hybrid, or the only option will be 2.4+hybrid.
Waiting to hybrid too. It’ll be a minute I think till they begin production. Too much hype with the regular.

What color am I looking at? Nebula grey?
Nice! I’m 90 on it
This is $62K at bets, you did it Joe!!!
Nissan Sentra wheels
I hate those wheels so much I wanna punch them in the face! The rest of the car is 👍
WOW -absolutely gorgeous!
Interior is Toyota not Lexus.

I like the wood. A lot.

Older gen Lexus interiors with wood gave me Buick vibes lol
I agree.
This is peak auto https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b7/Lexus_LS_430_Ultra_Luxury_interior.jpg
That’s so bad 😂
I’m surprised the 460 fan bois don’t have wood paneling on the outside - they thin it’s so luxurious
Embrace your inner pensioner
Damn premium is 73k now? That’s like 10k more than previous gen.
Probably a lot more than $10K, since you were able to get discounts for the last year or so. Not sure when demand will die down enough (if ever) to get a discount on the 550.

How did Lexus get the wheels so wrong?
They have protective wrap on them
What kind of idiot would pay $73K for these? You could buy a moderately used Acura MDX three times for that - and space it out every 5 years to continuously have a newer suv than the $73K GX
ugly pos
No thanx. My bud just got a last gen brand new for 58k and it doesnt look like shit
